@RMS0209 😂😂 yessss 6 weeks is a long time!

FarmBaby3 · 29/03/2023 19:57

@Daisy0909 the nausea is still here with me. Took my first day off with it on Monday as it was accompanied by a pounding headache and feeling exhausted. I had a 3 hour nap and then a decent night sleep. Felt amazing yesterday then today back to the nausea. It'll go eventually. Hopefully. Probably to be replaced with heartburn.

I've got my detailed scan in 4 weeks and 2 days. Not that I'm counting... hurry up!! I also have a consultant appointment on 5th April so I should then know if I'll get more scans or if the consultant will do the 20 week scan.

I'm dreading how big my pump is going to get though 😬 it's huge already.

Daisy0909 · 30/03/2023 10:21

@FarmBaby3 Ahh no way, hope it settles asap for you!

4 weeks will seem like a long time but honestly with the nicer weather we should hopefully be getting, you might be able to keep yourself distracted and hopefully it flies by!

I do a split of WFH/office and while my boss/team have been really understanding, I felt really bad today because I couldn't face going in to the office after 3 days of constant nausea. I've been in a couple of times when I've had good days & I'd hate for people to just think I'm milking it and don't want to go in!

I overthink massively though so chances are it's all in my head! 😂

Daisy155 · 31/03/2023 17:12

@Superunknown1 I am so glad it was a good outcome I read the first paragraph and my heart sank so happy you and baby are doing well. I hope you are feeling much better and less worried 🙂 How are you?

@Daisy0909 I have started feeling like myself again how are you feeling ?

@MinBins and @RMS0209 I feel the same I am counting down the days until the 20 week scan

I went for a scan yesterday I was hoping baby would show themselves and I would see what they are boy or girl but they kept it, as it wasn’t a detailed scan the consultants were so quick to show the heart beat and whatever else they were looking at and they had screen facing towards them.

I have to wait now until May! And I am 20 weeks end of April but my appointment is at the beginning of May

Hello! Been looking for the thread for my September tribe. Hope you're all doing well.

FarmBaby3 · 02/04/2023 20:32

@TwigletFiend there is also a group here: Due September 2023 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/birth_clubs/4710242-due-september-2023

TwigletFiend · 02/04/2023 20:54

Thank you!

Superunknown1 · 02/04/2023 23:58

Anyone else had a massive bump appear over the last week or so?! Seem to have gone from barely showing to quite rotund! Is any of it bloating at this point generally or are any of you also starting to really show? Currently 15+1 laying on the sofa and even gravity isn’t making my tummy look any smaller. It’s exciting!

I also got a good tip from a coworker who said that looping a hair bobble through your jeans’ buttonhole and round the button means you can keep wearing your jeans but gives you a good extra bit of space on the waist rather than getting maternity stuff. I know not everyone here is a first time mum but for me I was walking round like a plum with my jeans undone at work because I thought I could still get away with wearing them but couldn’t, and it was a helpful tip 😅😅

TwigletFiend · 03/04/2023 06:58

Not really bumpy yet. I'm quite surprised as this is my second, but DD is 8 so my abs have probably recovered more than I thought with such a big gap! I'm travelling to Dubai for work in May though, so I'm rather hoping bump stays discretely tucked away until then. Suspect I might be hoping in vain but you never know. Glad you're feeling good @Superunknown1 , the hair bobble helped loads last time. I also wore a lot of tunic tops and leggings! I am still bloating a bit, especially on days where the nausea is bad and I can't eat as much, but nothing like I was before.

MinBins · 03/04/2023 16:21

I had a big bloat early on and it's switched to a bump over the past few weeks @Superunknown1

I live in leggings and my old mat jeans - though they fall down at the moment 😅

Daisy0909 · 05/04/2023 13:45

Feel like mine is a weird bumpy/bloat 😅 always looks nicer and like a bump on an evening when I've had my 3 meals of the day!

Anyone had their 16 week midwife appt yet? I had mine on Monday and got to hear the heartbeat which was just magical, it's our first baby so everything is just so new. We got to record it too so I constantly listen to it!

FlicUK · 05/04/2023 17:12

I have the 16 week app next week. Glad you had a good experience Daisy, I've heard the heartbeat at some of my scans so far and it's very cool! I'm feeling slightly excited now (after two 1st tri miscarriages) that I'm this far and have a definite bump (+ bloat) x

MummyInBucks · 08/04/2023 07:57

My 16 week appointment is still about 2 weeks away, but I'm really looking forward to hearing the heartbeat. I can't remember from my first pregnancy if they'll also measure my bump at that stage, ot if they don't do that until later?

Daisy0909 · 09/04/2023 08:35

@MummyInBucks she didn't measure my bump at the 16 weeks appt but could be something that varies in each trust x

colourPink · 09/04/2023 15:23

Ah I've only just found the second thread of this! So sorry I've been MIA. I will read back and have a catch-up but hope everyone is okay.

16 week midwife appointment is Thursday and we find out the gender with a private scan on Saturday. So excited!

Daisy155 · 09/04/2023 17:35

Hi @colourPink lovely to hear from you again can’t believe we are all having our 16 week’s appointments

@Daisy0909 that’s lovely that you recorded the sound so sweet wish I wouldn’t be shy and record everything so I can play back such a good idea

@MummyInBucks and @FlicUK good luck with the 16 weeks appointment not long to go 🥰

I had my appointment on Tuesday it was lovely hearing baby’s heartbeat again and also finally meeting my community midwife she was really good. I feel like everything is getting so real and baby bump is getting bigger each week! So excited about the 20 week scan! Not long to go!

I've been a bit mia with the wrap up of taught masters modules and an easter vacation. Glad to hear everyone is going well.

@Superunknown1 the haritie trick worked for me until 13 weeks! My usual jeans are all high waisted so it didnt work so well for too long. you can get some waist band adapters that get you a bit further then just a hairtie

Daisy0909 · 11/04/2023 14:30

@Daisy155 to be honest i wouldn't have thought to record it myself - it was the midwife who suggested it to me!

Have you got a date through for your 20 week scan? I haven't had anything yet, they were really on it with my dating scan i got it through fairly early so I would've expected a letter by now?

Daisy155 · 11/04/2023 14:50

@Daisy0909 yes when I went for my 12 week scan they gave me straight away the letter for the 20 week scan which is on the 3rd of May, although I am 20 weeks by 28th of April she couldn’t book me in I forgot the reason why. But you should have it by now did the midwife not say anything to you on the 16th week check up as well?

OP posts:
colourPink · 11/04/2023 15:09

@Daisy0909 I was the same. They booked my date/ time for the 20 week scan with me there and then. Mine is the 10th May (I'll be 20 weeks exactly).

Daisy0909 · 11/04/2023 17:23

Thanks @Daisy155 @colourPink

Strange, mine doesn't book me in there and then she just refers me and then the hospital send me a letter..

I'll chase up later this week if I still haven't received anything

FlicUK · 11/04/2023 18:00

At my 16 week appointment today I was told I'll get a letter from hospital 2 weeks before 20 week scan and they can't tell me the date sooner...
Also quick question - does anyone else have an anterior placenta? I do and know it means feeling movement later and less strongly. At my it was hard to find the heartbeat with the doppler as my placenta is right in the front.

Lhdale · 12/04/2023 02:11

@FlicUK i do and was disappointed given what it means with movements. But last couple days I’ve been getting what feels like muscle twitches which, after a quick search here I think could be movements?! I’m 18+1

im very lucky in that for some reason my 20 week scan is at 19+2 so I’ll be doing it next Thursday. So scared but very excited to finally have that milestone done. DH and I agreed that if all good we’d go an buy some sort of baby piece of clothing after! To anyone that has done this before - do they tell you instantly at 20 week scan whether all is normal or not? Or do you have to wait a few days for a report?

TwigletFiend · 12/04/2023 08:44

@Lhdale it depends on what the anomaly is, I believe. But if all is within normal bounds, the sonographer should tell you that then and there.
