How's everyone doing? I've only really lurked on here but it's gone very quiet!

Londongirl87 · 31/05/2023 10:44

It is true that things have gone quiet :-)

On my side I have my 28 weeks appointment on Monday next week along with the glucose test and blood tests, and a growth scan because she was measuring small at 20 weeks. I am a bit worried since my bump is still small but I can feel her really more and more each week which reassures me.

We have started buying a few clothes and things we will need for the nursery (without going too crazy yet), and my husband's family gifted us the Yoyo stroller when they came to visit last week, so we have this too!

Has anyone started with the shopping yet?

Moni81 · 31/05/2023 11:12

@Londongirl87 when it comes to measurements and even scan estimates need to take it with pinch of salt. I'm 28 weeks on Friday and my bump feels massive but midwife measured me today at 26 and 4 days lol, having growth scan in July anyway so will see what is going on. That tape measuring is rubbish, baby flipped when she was measuring me and then she had to chase her heart beat on the other side of my belly lol
I completed all shopping for baby and myself, the only thing left are toiletries, sanitary stuff and cot. Everything is stashed around the house like some hoarder lol, just waiting as I need to get new wardrobes for my other daughters and move some furnitures around.

Moni81 · 31/05/2023 11:16

I have this weird sensation that my belly can't stretch more and is so tight😬

Hiya everyone!

@moregarlic swaying between impatience to have the baby and freaking out that the baby will be here soon 😂 how are you doing?

@Londongirl87 I've pretty much done all shopping for the baby, just need to get the post-birth stuff for myself... Actually surprised at my restraint and I've not spent much! Also had a few things gifted which we're really appreciative of.

@Moni81 I go through phases on different days and times.of feeling really tight across my belly! It's still got a lot of growing to do though so can only imagine it will feel worse 😬

I’ll be 28 weeks on Saturday and still struggling to get my head around that I’m pregnant. I’m thrilled just still can’t believe how lucky I am. I have bought the travel system, some clothes, bedside crib, perfect prep machine and random bits and bobs. I still need to buy plenty but as long as I get the steriliser, bottles, bottle brush and some newborn vests and sleepsuits then the rest can be bought after she’s here if needs be.

my bump isn’t massive but definitely got an obvious one now. I’m not worried though as I had a private 4D scan at the weekend (27 weeks) and they measured baby and although she’s “compact” (sonographers words) she’s still well within the normal range. I’ve got my 28 weeks appointment on Monday at 28+3 but I know from previous experience that the fundal height measurements are so inaccurate

laurapalmer22 · 31/05/2023 15:14

I'm doing really well! Feeling and seeing lots of nice and regular movements very often and at my last midwife appointment, baby was measuring average. We've got about 80% of the essentials, I think, just missing extra bodysuits, muslins, etc. Several of our friends have very kindly (and desperately, haha) gifted us lots of things, like next to me cribs, bouncers, changing mats, bottles, clothes (love the Baby Mori ones!), sleeping bags, Montessori toys, etc. etc. so we really don't need to get much ourselves.

Had a great big city babymoon part 1 earlier this month, and then in a few weeks' time we'll do our babymoon part 2 to a much quieter and more remote place.

Feeling emotionally and mentally very excited and happy! Far less anxious and worried than I was in my first and second trimester, maybe because it's so obvious that the baby is moving and growing now. Although I now have the glucose test to worry about of course. I can't walk as fast or move around as smoothly as before, but I'm still exercising 5 days a week and hitting my daily step goal, so I feel very very lucky.

isitaline97 · 31/05/2023 16:29

Hello everyone glad to hear we're all doing okay I've haven't checked in for a while. Feels like time has gone fast since hitting 20 weeks!

I'm sorry to hear about your GD @Nik84 but keep positive, I know it's easier said than done but it can be well managed ❤️

I can't believe we only have around 3 months left! I'm 27 weeks tomorrow. Feeling lots of movements now and even seeing my belly move on the odd occasion 😊 Although some days it's much more subtle than others, I think that's due to my anterior placenta though.

ILookAtTheFloor · 31/05/2023 16:47

I'll be 28 weeks on Sunday. Going ok really, just the usual heartburn and some back ache!

Bump looks big but measuring on 50th centile exactly so bump size doesn't really mean anything!

I've bought nothing aside from a change bag on Vinted for £5! Don't plan on buying much but will have to start fairly soon!

isitaline97 · 31/05/2023 17:05

Was people measured at the 25 week appointment? I asked her about that at mine and she said they don't start measuring until 28 weeks so I've no idea yet! The bump has definitely popped though.

I've been lucky our neighbour has given us bags full of baby clothes so we hardly have anything to buy clothes wise. We've got lots of furniture second hand too it's worth looking on eBay locally around you or Facebook market place there is some bargains to be had! Still in need of a travel system though, I need something with very good suspension/all terrain. The bugaboo fox 3 has good reviews for off roading has anyone used this one before?

cinnamonbiscuit · 31/05/2023 17:51

Glad to hear everyone is doing well! I had a 28 week growth scan/consultant appointment today. Baby is fine but measuring big- estimated 3lb 4oz and abdominal circumference is 95th percentile. Consultant wants two more growth scans at 32/36 weeks to keep an eye. I’m not hugely concerned though because my DD was estimated 9lb 15oz at 38 weeks but she came out 8lb 3oz two weeks later! And blood sugars were definitely well within range at GTT, midwife checked today.

Everyone sounds way more organised than me, we’re still waiting for exchange/completion on our house so I’ve got basically nothing ready! Need to buy a next to me once we’re in the new place 😀

allgoodthings84 · 31/05/2023 20:03

@isitaline97 my midwife doesn’t start until 28 weeks either as says it’s even more inaccurate before that

Moni81 · 31/05/2023 21:49

@allgoodthings84 I guess with bump measuring it a lots of depend on baby position at time of measurement, plus how much fat woman carry. Also during my consultant appointment nurse could pick up heartbeat right at the top of belly, today baby curled on my left side and on the other side you couldn't hear a thing...or maybe it depend on strength of machine, I don't know. Saying that I really struggle to imagine how bigger my bump should be at this stage as it feels too big to me. Maybe it's just my frame.

Moni81 · 31/05/2023 21:54

Those of you that are given free stuff are very lucky. Due to my age I don't know many pregnant women, plus don't have any family circle around here. Thanks God for vinted, marketplace, Spock etc, got all nice and fancy stuff for fraction of price.

allgoodthings84 · 31/05/2023 21:55

@Moni81 definitely position makes a difference. Different midwives measure from and to slightly different points too. I had different midwives every appointment before and everyone measured differently. I’ve got the same midwife this time though throughout unless she ends up poorly when I’ve got an appointment booked in. I get some people saying my bump looks small and a couple have said it looks big so people see different things too I guess 😂

allgoodthings84 · 31/05/2023 21:57

@Moni81 same here. I’m 38 and all my friends had kids within the couple years before, during and after I had my first (at 30) so no one has anything to pass on anymore. I had so much given to me last time which is probably why I was a lot more organised 😂

Moni81 · 31/05/2023 23:30

@allgoodthings84 I got all my stuff on vinted and shpock, didn't physically visit any shop. While yes it is fun way of shopping, it's also time consuming looking for good deals and stuff you like, that's why I started earlier. I also had to make sure I replace my other children clothes so they are sorted for next year. I had to plan what I focus on in which month. For example end of June I need to sort out my girls high school uniforms, can't be thinking of it last moment when I'm in labour lol.

allgoodthings84 · 01/06/2023 08:38

@Moni81 don’t get me started on the cost of uniforms 😂 at least mine is still in primary so can send in her summer dresses at first. Rest of the year they dress like they are at high school minus the blazers.

DandelionPockets · 02/06/2023 07:29

I was measured at the 26 week appointment and my bump measured very big, and on the chart thing in my notes it was way over the average line. But the midwife told me that's normal...not sure if she was just saying that to reassure me. Could just be the bit of belly I had pre pregnancy making me measure so big at this point 😂

She also said I'd be booked in every two weeks now for measuring. I also get a scan at 32 weeks for my low placenta so will be good to see how big they measure the baby at that appointment. Assume scans more accurate than the measuring tape??

Also, recently did a baby first aid class (2hrs) with NCT and it was really worth it if anyone else has been thinking about it. Hopefully never ever have to use any of the more serious first aid but me and my partner felt like it overall makes us feel better to have that knowledge now. They also gave a couple of free samples and first aid book and on the day there were discounts on their first aid kits.

Hi! As anyone had enough yet? I'm pregnant with Twins. I'm hot and bothered, can't bend over and constantly out of breathe. I'm 25 weeks and only have 12 weeks left but I honestly feel DONE.

sommeliermama · 02/06/2023 17:09

@DandelionPockets I had my 28 week appointment today (although I'm 29 weeks) and my bump was measuring on the 91st centile. I am pretty tall though so not sure how accurate it is. 91st centile sounds very big!

Londongirl87 · 10/06/2023 09:51

How is everyone doing?
i had my 28 weeks appointment and my growth scan this week and our baby girl is still small (10% percentile) but growing exactly like she should so it was very reassuring!
we have another growth scan in 4 weeks and I feel really lucky to have this extra reassurance.

She’s also moving a lot but the movements have changed recently, it feels more like full turning around movements and less like pokes. I can feel her on both sides of the bump every time she moves.

My bump has also popped in the last 10 days and I feel properly pregnant now!

Preggobelly · 10/06/2023 13:23

That’s great news @Londongirl87. That’s really reassuring for you and a nice little view of your baby every 4 weeks is lovely!

I have my 28 week appointment on Wednesday which I’m looking forward to. I measured on the 95% in my first pregnancy so I’m curious to see if I’ll be the same this time. I’m the same as you with the movements being more like rolls which can feel a bit eek sometimes 😂

isitaline97 · 12/07/2023 20:53
