@Moni81 my midwife isn’t that local it’s a 30 minute drive when it’s not busy on the roads so I wasn’t going to go a separate time 😂. No one needs it from me yet so was all good. My community midwife seems nice enough luckily. She said any time I want her to check heartbeat I can contact her to arrange it and one of the others will if she’s not in (she’s part time). Hopefully I won’t need that. I’m fully expecting to have a growth scan at some point as my bump isn’t very big and I know it’s definitely under 22cm when laying down (at 24 weeks should be +- 2cm of 24cm). I was the same with my daughter though. She wasn’t a big baby and I don’t carry extra water or bloat etc.

allgoodthings84 · 05/05/2023 17:26

Oh and after 2 scans where baby didn’t play ball she didn’t play ball today either with the Doppler. Every time the midwife just got the heartbeat she moved. Managed to get her to keep still in the end. Midwife wasn’t worried as heard the heartbeat and cord was ok but she wanted me to hear it properly

cinnamonbiscuit · 05/05/2023 19:38

I phoned the community midwife team this morning because I’ve realised I’ve developed extreme itching on my hands and feet and just in general really 😐 and I know they need to check for that liver condition. They said I’ll need a blood test within 5 days. Really hope I don’t end up with that after dodging gestational diabetes!

Moni81 · 10/05/2023 07:20

A bit of moan ...ladies tell me I am just getting a bit paranoid and probably forgot how it is being being pregnant. Well, in fact it was like decade ago so I'm probably allowed. I'm nearly 24 weeks and I'm so fed up already, walking like duck, can't see how I can manage to full term, I will be tipping over 😔. Plus baby is really a warm, she keeps rolling, kicking up and down all over. In way you think I should be happy I feel her that much but it gets uncomfortable and often hurts. Yesterday while watching Eurovision it was like she was performing as well 😬 . Anyone else feeling down because the way they feel physically?

I'm 24+3 and very big this time, I must take a new photo! But, I don't feel heavy, which is odd and I keep forgetting my new dimensions and scraping my bump on things haha! My balance is shot though. I do yoga and it's terrible now.

Still being sick in the mornings unfortunately- I think it's going to last the whole pregnancy.

24 weeks always feel a big milestone - viable!

Londongirl87 · 10/05/2023 18:47

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling comfortable @Moni81
Are there things that make you feel better? Like maybe stretching, lying in certain positions, or maybe floating in a bath?
Your belly looks beautiful!

Here I've had a 24 weeks appointment with my GP (first baby) yesterday and she told me that my belly was too small, and quite off the chart on the fundal height chart so that has worried me. There were also white cells in my urine which they've sent to the lab to see if there is an infection (I have 0 symptoms so I was surprised) and if so, I might have to get a course of antibiotics.
I also feel a bit fed up by the complications. Every time I get less anxious about something, something else comes up!

Moni81 · 10/05/2023 21:23

@Londongirl87 thank you, although I preferred it with my first pregnancy when I was only starting to show around 20 week. So I wouldn't worry too much about size of belly, if they have any concern you will get growth scans. I have some planned due to my age, I m on the other hand worried that baby may be too big. My second was already larger than first so if it follows trend, I'm not looking forward to birth lol. I struggle most sitting on my bum 8h at work, luckily I work nights so can stretch on sofa type of chairs, even brought nursing pillow to get extra back support. I'm managing so far, just worried how it's going to progress and I may be one useless at home. I only have midwife appointment the end of month, see what she finds in my urine lol. I'm looking forward to consultant appointment in couple of weeks and scans, if they plan to induce me earlier I honestly wouldn't mind 😁

allgoodthings84 · 10/05/2023 22:05

@Londongirl87 don’t worry too much right now. At my 24 week appointment (last week) my midwife said they don’t do fundal height until 28 weeks here as it’s not realistic to start thinking about bump size until then. I was relieved as I know my bump is on the smaller size. It’s my second baby and my first bump was always measuring small and I had 2 or 3 growth scans (first was at 28 weeks) and everything was fine every time. She was small considering she was born 8 days late (41+1) but not too small. I was measuring 30 weeks at 41 weeks! The bump went afterwards really quickly too, as in less than a week after. If I have to have growth scans again this time I won’t worry unless something comes up on the scan. It can pick up issues but it’s not very accurate for everyone

Ally345 · 12/05/2023 09:09

@Londongirl87 I hear you on the complications, it’s hard going.

Every week seems to bring something new. I’m currently on antibiotics for a bladder infection and can barely walk with pelvic girdle pain and worried I am going to now be immobile and housebound for the remainder of pregnancy. Hoping physio will help.

allgoodthings84 · 12/05/2023 12:56

@Ally345 that sounds horrible you poor thing

allgoodthings84 · 12/05/2023 13:00

the hospital rang me yesterday to book me in for a glucose test for GD as my midwife hadn’t booked it. My midwife hadn’t booked me one as she said I didn’t need one as I’m not 40+, have no diabetes in my family and not overweight at my booking in appointment. The hospital said it’s because of my age so I am a bit confused as the nhs website also says over 40 and I’m not 40+. I’m booked in anyway though. I doubt I have GD as my bump is small (smaller than average) but I would feel horrendous if I didn’t have the test when offered and ended up I did have it.

moregarlic · 12/05/2023 14:05

Hi all - I've lurked this thread since it started, as am due with my second in Sept!

Just wanted to pop on to say to @Ally345 PGP is treatable with manual therapy...this is a really insightful (free!) ebook from the Pelvic Girdle Trust: https://pelvicpartnership.org.uk/pgp-is-treatable-ebook/ .

I don't have PGP but I did have an ongoing problem with my SI joint. I didn't have much luck with the NHS physio, but a private osteopath has completely sorted it out. I hope you feel better soon.

Ally345 · 12/05/2023 14:29

@moregarlic thank you so much, that's super helpful. Have booked in with both an osteo and a physio next week 🙏

And hello, hope your pregnancy is going well and you are feeling okay :)

@allgoodthings84 sounds like some mixed messages there, but agree, if being offered, might as well do it.

moregarlic · 12/05/2023 18:57

@Ally345 oh that's fab, I hope they both help! I had a really rough time of it with my back in my last pregnancy and I didn't do anything about it, so I am being very proactive this time. One niggle and I'm straight on it with an osteo appointment 😅

DandelionPockets · 15/05/2023 14:26

How is everyone doing? Gone a bit quiet on here! I'm 25 weeks along and really does feel like the court down is on now. Maternity leave, getting everything ready, making lists and lists and lists!

Anyone else a bit disappointed to find they have no actual cravings, I was hoping to have some funny ones! Or, on the other hand, does anyone have cravings? Would love to know 😁

sommeliermama · 15/05/2023 14:47

@DandelionPockets I've not posted a lot on this thread but happy to get involved! I'm 26+3, feels like I'm slowly getting there.

I've not had any real cravings, maybe wanting more sweet food than usual. I was also hoping for something weird! 😂I really enjoying citrus-flavoured things at the minute but it's not that unusual

allgoodthings84 · 15/05/2023 18:01

@DandelionPockets no cravings here unless food in general counts 😂

DandelionPockets · 15/05/2023 18:18

@sommeliermama not long till the third trimester for you then. Same with the sweet but I think it's just because I feel bloated that I want chocolate 😂

@allgoodthings84 haha yes with you on that. I'm always thinking about the next snack/meal atm!

@DandelionPockets hello! I’m still here lurking. I’ll be 27 weeks on Thursday 😨 starting to feel like it’ll be over before I know it. We are in the middle of buying our first house and hopefully moving in early June, I don’t even really feel like I can properly plan anything until that’s sorted. I’ve got the nursery and a 2 year olds bedroom in the new house to decorate as well 😅

My main craving has been Nando’s peri salt on everything! Apart from that I’ve not got much appetite, have only put on a few pounds so far I think.

@sommeliermama we’re only a day apart, I’m 26+4 😀

DandelionPockets · 17/05/2023 06:48

@cinnamonbiscuit hope the house move goes well, how exciting. You'll definitely have a busy few weeks!
I wish I could say I've only put a few pounds on 😂

Hi, I hope everyone is doing ok. I’ve just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and I’m so so upset about it and all the increased risks. Just as I was starting to relax into believing everything would be ok. Has anyone had or have it and can offer any words of reassurance?

DandelionPockets · 24/05/2023 15:21

Hiya @Nik84 I haven't had it or have it currently but I have been reading about it. Seems very common, 1 in 10/1 in 20? So hopefully someone has some more advice on personal experience.

I would just say, at least you know now and can therefore manage it and speak to your midwife about it and people on here or irl. You'll get extra care and attention and that can only be a good thing.

Giving you a virtual hug ❤️

(I had high sugars in my urine last week after fasting and they mentioned bringing the glucose test forward, which am still waiting for, so did some research and the group seemed to be helpful)

allgoodthings84 · 24/05/2023 21:25

I’m sorry you’ve got GD @Nik84 I have to repeat my test on Friday as I passed out last week in between the tests. I thought this meant I likely have GD but the nurses told me that it doesn’t mean that just means my body didn’t like part of it. Apparently it’s common to pass out.

My daughters auntie had GD with her second (she’s 1 now) and said it wasn’t as bad as she thought and they do take care of you

Tasnimxx · 24/05/2023 21:54

Hey! I was diagnosed with GTT on Friday and have my first appointment with the diabetes nurse tomorrow! It’s very daunting at first but I’ve just been eating very healthily since I’ve found out, it is hard to stop drinking those coke cans but it is for the best! Will let you know what my GTT nurse says!
