Pregnant after IVF
countrypunk · 09/02/2023 14:45
Is anyone out there pregnant after IVF? I'm on an IVF thread but don't want to keep posting about being pregnant when women there are still going through treatment and also getting BFNs.
I had my first round of IVF in November and we got 2 embryos. My first fresh transfer failed and I'm now 5+2 after our frozen transfer.
I'm feeling a bit wobbly today because my symptoms (cramping and super sore boobs) seem to have disappeared, even though I got 3+ on a digital test yesterday.
Just fancy talking to other women who are pregnant after treatment and can relate to all the emotion and worries.
Purrrrr · 09/02/2023 15:22
I’m just marking my place here, as I was on the same IVF thread!
I had my first FET in January, having had a freeze all due to OHSS in October. I feel like it’s too good to be true that it worked first time after 4 years or so of trying.
It’s great news you got your 3+. I’ve heard it’s totally normal for symptoms to come and go. The same is happening for me, but I’m the same and I do worry.
countrypunk · 09/02/2023 15:25
Hello @Purrrrr 😊
Yes, I feel like it's all too good to be true too!
Four years is such a long time. Congratulations again ♥️
Scarlett868 · 09/02/2023 15:37
@countrypunk Congratulations!!! I am currently 29 weeks pregnant after a successful fresh transfer in August last year. We had been trying since 2018!
I have actually found myself much more relaxed than I thought I would. Only real nerves have been before scans. I think that has to do with my fertility scans always bringing bad news but we have been very lucky so far now.
My symptoms have come and gone through each trimester so try not to worry about that (easier said than done). Now in the 3rd trimester and still can't believe it!! Xxx
countrypunk · 09/02/2023 16:25
@Scarlett868 Oh congratulations, that's amazing! It's reassuring to hear that your symptoms have come and gone.
I've still got 12 days until my 7 week scan. I'm just hoping beyond hope that the little bean hangs on until then. And beyond obviously!
Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly. Xx
Taz29duffy1 · 09/02/2023 18:24
I’m 11 weeks after FET. It was donor egg. I have bed. Doing IVF since 2016 and multiple losses
Narwhal88 · 09/02/2023 19:10
Congratulations! I'm 13 weeks after my 4th transfer 🙂 time has never gone more slowly in my life than the last 8 weeks 😂
I didn't have any symptoms really until around 7 weeks and they do come and go. The nerves kick in before each scan, then I'm ok for a few days then get anxious again.
ivf2022 · 09/02/2023 19:29
Congratulations!
I'm 5+5 after a FET. I'm feeling quite anxious at the moment, very aware of all symptoms and worrying when they come and go.
When's your first scan? Mine is at 7+3, hoping that will reassure me!
countrypunk · 09/02/2023 19:41
@Taz29duffy1 Congratulations, and I'm so sorry about your losses. How are you feeling? I'm guessing you've got your second scan coming up soon?
@Narwhal88 Yay, wonderful! Have you just had your 12 week scan? And that's good to hear about the symptoms. Sometimes I think I'm having a bit of nausea but then it goes and I think I imagined it 😣
@ivf2022 Oh congratulations! So we're at the same kind of stage. My scan is on 21 Feb and I'll be exactly 7 weeks. It is all very anxiety inducing isn't it. And I just can't stop myself from googling things that worry me!
Narwhal88 · 09/02/2023 20:49
@countrypunk yes my scan was last week. I felt like that with the nausea at 6-7 weeks but by week 8 it was very obvious! The sickness has been awful, even though I never actually threw up, so even though part of you wants it I wouldn't wish it upon yourself 😂 I stopped my estrogen last week and instantly felt less sick though.
Good luck for your scan, hopefully everything is ok in there 🤞🏼
countrypunk · 09/02/2023 21:55
@Narwhal88 It must feel absolutely amazing to get to that stage and see your baby clearly on the scan monitor. Congratulations ♥️
I know you're right, but I want at least a bit of nausea just so I know something's definitely going on down there!
mrsmacmc · 09/02/2023 22:31
May I pull up a chair 🪑please? 13+2 with our fresh IVF 🧬 🫘 ❤️
countrypunk · 09/02/2023 22:36
@mrsmacmc Absolutely, the more the merrier! Congratulations 🙂💛
mrsmacmc · 09/02/2023 22:39
@countrypunk thank you - I can bring 🧁 and ☕️ to the thread too ❤️ congratulations on your little bean 🫘 too 💖
countrypunk · 09/02/2023 22:43
@mrsmacmc Haha, yes please! And thank you. It's so exciting but as you know, when you've had IVF you get used to bracing yourself for bad news. It's difficult to believe that it might all be OK.
Xx
mrsmacmc · 09/02/2023 23:28
@countrypunk it is really hard! I'm still checking every time I wipe (sorry TMI) and wish the worry would stop 😩 they talk about an increase in CM they didn't say it would be like walking around some days with Niagara Falls 😂 can you tell I use dark humour to deal with things 🤦♀️ ❤️
Taz29duffy1 · 10/02/2023 05:40
I’ve had no real symptoms other than feeling a bit ropey in the evenings! I’ve had a scan at 5+6, 6, 8, 10 weeks! I’ve had some bleeding and have decided to attend consultant privately. It’s definitely been a good send as my first nhs scan isn’t until 13+4!
countrypunk · 10/02/2023 08:52
@mrsmacmc Yes, I inspect the tissue every time too! I haven't had the increase in CM yet, but that sounds like another thing to look forward to 😆
@Taz29duffy1 It's such a long time to wait isn't it. I booked an early 6 week scan but then cancelled because I read that sometimes you can't detect the heartbeat then or the embryo measures behind even though it's perfectly healthy, and I know I'd just worry until the next one. So I'm holding out for 7 weeks. But it's hard!
Izzie94x · 10/02/2023 08:57
Hi ladies!!
Can I join 🙋🏽♀️ - currently 7+2 with our little IVF/ICSI miracle, after 3 years TTC it feels like an absolute dream. But doesn’t take away from the fact I am just an anxious mess who spends her 8 hours WFH day Googling why her symptoms are not as strong today lol!!
@countrypunk I also found my boobs aren’t as sore now either!! That was the one “symptom” I had consistently. But not sure I can even rely on that as they started to get sore pre- EC! 😂 I find myself getting a few little headaches, and feeling slightly nauseous in the evenings (not every eve!) and just don’t fancy anything for dinner but once I’ve eaten I’m fine. And I’m not sure if it’s in my head lol!!
Got my first scan on Valentines Day🤍✨ so I’ll keep you all posted, praying for our little growing embaby xx
MsSandyToes · 10/02/2023 09:24
Hi everyone, huge congratulations to you all!
I'm really pleased to have found you all here. Thank you so much @countrypunk for setting this up. I'm five weeks today after ICSI. I'm still obsessively POAS (easy at home cheapies) every morning to check progression lines and will take a digital this weekend and hope to see a 3+ 🤞 I've still got period type back aches and some cramping which worried me to begin with and now I worry when it eases! My first scan is booked in at the clinic for the 1st of March when I will be 7+5.
@Izzie94x I also work from home and drive myself mad googling and not paying attention to work! 😬😅
countrypunk · 10/02/2023 10:04
Woohoo, the group is growing!
@Izzie94x Hello, you sent me a lovely reply on a thread about an early scan ♥️ Congratulations on your pregnancy! I also WFH and can totally relate to the constant googling. I cannot stop. I actually had to leave another pregnancy thread because everyone was talking about all the symptoms they were having at 4 weeks and it was freaking me out.
Yes do come and report back after your scan 💛💛
@MsSandyToes Hello, I recognise your name too! Congratulations on your pregnancy 😊 I was obsessively POAS until I got 3+ this week on a clear blue digital, and I'm gonna try and step away from the tests now. I know EXACTLY what you mean about the cramps being worrying to begin with, and then worrying when they stop. God, it drives you round the bend doesn't it. I've got a busy weekend so I'm hoping that will take my mind off things a bit.
Love to everyone, have excellent Fridays!
Izzie94x · 10/02/2023 10:18
@MsSandyToes omg isn’t it the worst! I usually got into the office on a Tuesday, so that’s a lovely day of no Googling. Other than that I’m hooked until DH is home from work😂😂 ahhhhh!
@countrypunk ahhh yes I recognise your name now too🥰🤍 honestly, I just like to think after having to put our bodies through so much with IVF, having less symptoms is our embabies way of saying you deserve a break from it all lol! The lack of symptoms were the same for my best friend who had IVF too!! But sometimes I wish I just felt sick every morning hahaha!! I will of curse report back!! Really hoping for good news, but the anxiety is kicking in now ahhhh not long xx
BAIL08 · 10/02/2023 14:01
@countrypunk hello, I just wanted to give you a bit of reassurance for symptoms. My now 6 month old from an IVF pregnancy is fast a sleep on me. I had no symptoms whatsoever during the first trimester, other than the occasional bad heartburn. I remember going for my first scan after testing positive and telling the sonographer how nervous I was because I had no symptoms and she said it’s more common than you think and she didn’t have any when she was on pregnant.
I know this can be an incredibly up and down time, but be kind to yourself and try and just go with the flow if you can. I had two miscarriages before my IVF pregnancy so I know how tough this all is. Sending you all positive thoughts.
countrypunk · 10/02/2023 17:12
@BAIL08 Thank you so much, that's a really lovely message. I definitely need to relax a bit. Congratulations on your baby ♥️
@Izzie94x That's a good way of thinking about things 🙂 I'm going to be really nervous about my first scan too. Excited too though. And the likelihood is that everything will be absolutely fine! Xx
JuliaIVF83 · 11/02/2023 13:18
That’s a good idea to start this thread @countrypunk - the other one did feel like a lot of different stages!
I’m counting down the days till the scan ( not till the 22nd) - I haven’t POAS since my first BETA was drawn and now I can’t bring myself to - terrified that the line won’t be there.
I don’t have any symptoms apart from hunger and sluggishness. I really want to go swimming but the nurse didn’t seem that pro it when I asked her last week ( 4 weeks 2 day) - has anyone else been swimming since transfer ? Im now 5 + 3 …. I’m not even a great swimmer but just feel I need to do something to get my body moving! My dog is currently in season so nice long walks in the park are currently out!
countrypunk · 11/02/2023 15:03
@JuliaIVF83 Hello! I'm 5+4 today so we're at the same stage 🙂 My scan's on 21 Feb. Also counting down the days. Absolutely knackered today. I'm going for a curry later, and I know there'll be raised eyebrows when I refuse a beer. I haven't POAS since Wednesday! That's my record since I found out.
I really don't know about the swimming. The NHS website doesn't mention it but it has some links that might be helpful: www.nhs.uk/start4life/pregnancy/exercising-in-pregnancy/
