5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@Raizelrea sorry you’ve been feeling rough, hopefully you’ve a bit more energy and less sickness soon! 🤞🏼

colourPink · 17/02/2023 07:36

@winningeasy nope - no cysts or anything. Luckily I've never suffered!

I'm going to message some friends and see what they say 🙊

Daisy0909 · 17/02/2023 09:12

@colourPink let me know what they say 🤣 I'm keeping it a secret so can't ask my sister/friends!

I did ask the midwife about it when I went & she wasn't concerned & reassured me it's normal and I said even at 8 weeks and she said yes x

Hope it’s okay to join this thread late. I’m due around 12/09/23. 12 week scan 28th feb when I’ll be exactly 12 weeks. It COULD NOT come sooner. I’ve been so anxious all through and thought it would be better now but it now feels like there’s so much more to lose! Anyway, seems like we’re all steadily making our way to the 12 weeks mark. Nice to hear im not alone with the exhaustion, just can’t function properly and feeling so bad about it. It’s horrible not being able to explain to people why I’m being so boring and hardly going out!

suz2285 · 17/02/2023 11:17

Welcome @Lhdale nice to have you here!

Daisy0909 · 17/02/2023 11:58

Welcome @Lhdale ! You're a bit further in front than me so i'll be interested to know if your symptoms ease in the next couple of weeks! x

Lhdale · 17/02/2023 13:14

@Daisy0909 i’ll let you know. I hope so! So far just getting worse each week!

PCOSunfortunately · 17/02/2023 17:51

@Lhdale welcome 🤗 you're further along than me but I totally get where you're coming from! Im the same I just feel so boring always staying in because people will know if im not drinking somethings up! Can't wait till about Mother's Day and then I can go out and not have to hide anything 🫣

suz2285 · 17/02/2023 18:46

Congratulations. I think we are going to be due about the same time. My scan is 22nd when my LMP says I'll be 12 weeks but I think I'll be 11.

Exhaustion in full flow but then insomnia about 2/3am. Great!! Also nausea seems to be ramping up. Hopefully it calms down very very soon.

northernmam · 18/02/2023 05:12

Thank you everyone! We are feeling so lucky and I'm trying to rest as much as possible, especially now I know there's 2 babies 🥰

Insomnia seems to be back with a vengeance and I have an appointment today to hopefully get something to help with the sickness.

Hope everyone else is doing well xx

northernmam · 18/02/2023 05:14

@Daisy0909 they run on both sides 😂 xx

gingermumma95 · 18/02/2023 05:38

@tinkerbell098 ours cost £3 each! But I l think you can get one free

Maraudingmarauders · 18/02/2023 06:12

I'm back 😁holiday was wonderful and just what I needed to pass a few days in the countdown to 12 week scan. Struggled a bit with nausea, particularly on subways and trains but the flight wasn't as bad as I had feared.
I think walking a lot really helped particularly after meals although I'm exhausted now (and yet wide awake at 5am...)

Congratulations @northernmam what incredible news. At least if twins run in the family you can get lots of advice! Have you got other children?

Welcome @Lhdale - I've got the same due date as you based on my private early scan, though my LMP dates put me earlier. Waiting for 12week scan on 22nd Feb to confirm a bit more.

I've had quite strong cramping throughout so far. It's definitely not as bad as it used to be but I still get phases.

Does anyone else find it hurts if they cough or sneeze? I have to hold my belly otherwise it feels lime I've torn something! Not sure of thays telling me somethingabout the terrible lack of core strength and muscle I have...

I had to buy some Baggy jumpers before stopping at my parents this weekend 😅 I wouldn't say I have a bump but I'm definitely a different shape. I think the alcohol refusal is making them suspicious though.

Lhdale · 18/02/2023 07:27

@Raizelrea i will try although nausea and headaches have definitely worsened in the last few days (it hasn’t been that bad with me luckily!) with a lovely bout of diarrhoea last night as soon as I’d eaten. I thought symptoms would be getting better not worse!

@northernmam congrats must be so exciting!

@FarmBaby3 yes I’m exactly the same, fall asleep in a moment as I’m so exhausted but then as soon as I’ve woken up in the night to go to the loo that’s it I’m awake!

@Maraudingmarauders ive read that this pain is round ligament pain , I’ve experienced it literally once or twice but apparent it gets worse in second trimester yay!

northernmam · 18/02/2023 07:29

@Maraudingmarauders yes we have a 6 year old and 1 year old already so our house is going to be hectic 😂

Thank you @Lhdale and congratulations on your pregnancy 😊 xx

Maraudingmarauders · 18/02/2023 07:54

@Lhdale oh goody 😂
@northernmam oh wow, what an exciting time. At least you have some idea what you are doing going into it! What a wonderful noisy and bustling house you will have with them all growing up 😍do keep us updated on your progress, I know it's a nervous time for us all but now doubly so for you. We're all here for you!
