5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@PBandJs good luck tomorrow, let us know how you get on!
Yes I think whoever named it morning sickness was having a laugh. I'm ten times worse in the evening, but doesn't stop it going on all day too! Morning is pretty much the only time I feel okay for an hour or so.
Thankfully we live quite rurally and so met ups with friends are all pre-planned, so no last minute calls to go out!

Woops. Realised I tagged the wrong person here! Sorry!

Good luck today @PCOSunfortunately ❤ hope all goes well for you!

PBandJs · 12/02/2023 11:02

Hi Guys, they tried external but couldn't see much so did an internal. All was perfect. We saw the heart beat flickering away he said it's a perfect heart beat ( just hoping it stays like that) im measuring 8w exactly so I'm two days in front on my app! Expected due date is 24/9/2023. There is just one 🥰 he said both my ovaries are large which will be down to the clomid no wonder I've been in pain! Hope you all have a lovely day, here's to the next few weeks worrying again 🙈 xxx

winningeasy · 12/02/2023 14:56

@PCOSunfortunately such good news! ❤️

I've had a rough fortnight, tonsillitis, sinusitis, blocked ear and yesterday a stomach bug. Felt a huge wave of nausea and ended actually being sick, then the stomach started and was so worried I was miscarrying but I've had a lot of diarrhoea since so I think it was just that. I am tempted to keep toddler away from other kids next week so I can recover from all these bugs.

My appetite is in the toilet. I don't have cravings, I just have aversions. I have eat two crumpets, two dairy Lea dunkers and some peaches out a jar today. I can't handle actual meals. Does anyone have any inspo on what they can eat without feelings sick at the thought?

Xx

Daisy155 · 12/02/2023 15:17

@PCOSunfortunately Awww so so happy to hear that baby is well and you got to see the heartbeat 💓

@winningeasy so sorry to hear of the sickness and how you have been feeling! I can’t even suggest much but to say when I don’t feel like eating I tend to make soups with all the healthy foods and eat throughout the day!

so I can get some type of vitamins, I have been having meat aversion I can’t stand the look of meat and I made some chicken soup and shredded the chicken to small bits and I was able to eat some.

But it depends on how you are feeling because with pregnancy it’s so hard to give advise especially when you are having food issues xx

Maraudingmarauders · 12/02/2023 16:09

@PCOSunfortunately congratulations I'm so pleased for you!

colourPink · 12/02/2023 16:11

@PCOSunfortunately so pleased for you! Here's to hoping you can relax a little more now x

suz2285 · 12/02/2023 16:36

@PCOSunfortunately glad all was ok on the scan! Mine is next sat and is 8 weeks, external only I think so I hope they can see something 🤞🤞

@winningeasy what a rough time you're having! Illness sucks! I'm not really having aversions so much but I really don't know what I want to eat now, nothing sounds that good, everything tastes weird! Drinks are easier for me, I made a smoothie the other morning, It's totally fine to just eat what you fancy for a while, don't worry too much about what it is

I'm so bloated today, feel so puffy and huge 🙈 my lower belly is really sticking out more than it was before and I feel like it's super obvious! Prob just looks like I ate too much but eugh! Not making me feel good 😂 esp when I'm already not feeling my best! I am so tired!

winningeasy · 12/02/2023 18:24

@suz2285 smoothies are a great idea thank you! Actually been craving milkshakes so maybe I can trick my body.
Going to get some of those Charlie Bighams ready meals in, and some stuff pre-prepared stuff for my little one since finding meal prep really challenging 🤢- normally cook everything from scratch but needs must x

Daisy0909 · 12/02/2023 19:21

@PCOSunfortunately fab news glad everything is ok!

@winningeasy I've felt the same with food aversions and really struggled, feel like mine has curbed a little bit now.. I made a homemade batch of soup that I could stomach the idea of and had that 3 or 4 nights in a row. I also had jacket potatoes a lot.. with salad or sometimes plain dependant on how I felt!

PCOSunfortunately · 12/02/2023 19:54

Thanks everyone 🥰

@suz2285 I would call them and ask. Mine did abdominal first but just said no and asked me to change to internal you get a much better picture. Just think if you're paying you want to see the best you can xxx

suz2285 · 12/02/2023 20:12

@PCOSunfortunately it def says they do external, and that you have to be 8 weeks - which is why I assume because they're only doing external... I thought 8 would be fine to see externally but it does say you may have to come back if they can't see well enough, but I really don't want to have to do that 😂 which is why I was waiting till 8 weeks!

See how @northernmam gets on with her scan Friday as her dates are the same as mine 😂😂

winningeasy · 12/02/2023 20:33

@suz2285 I think most places can do both external or internal. So if there's any issue seeing baby they will just switch to internal x

northernmam · 12/02/2023 21:06

I will definitely keep you updated but I'm also hoping for external @suz2285

I've had nausea for the last 2 weeks or so but tonight have vomited for the first time. My pregnancy with my little girl was non stop sickness for 18 weeks and I lost 2 and a half stone, so I really hope I'm not headed for another stint like that. But counting my blessings that it's a good sign 😂🤢

winningeasy · 13/02/2023 06:41

@northernmam from what I can see from friends - if you're carrying a girl the sickness seems to be a lot worse than if you're carrying a boy.

More oestrogen with girls I believe x

winningeasy · 13/02/2023 06:42

My first is a girl and it was non-stop for sickness for 13 weeks

suz2285 · 13/02/2023 07:23

@winningeasy yeah this place only does external I checked yesterday, I just wanted to avoid being confused if they can't see anything but it does say 8 weeks so they must be kinda sure at that stage they'll see something 😂 I know my dates are correct so hopefully be ok, I just don't want the worry of waiting and having to go back I'd rather just wait till 9 weeks or something

@northernmam oh no I'm sorry you're feeling rough too. I'm dreading feeling worse tbh, I feel like I've been quite lucky so far but I def have noticed a few times recently where I could def feel like it could get worse 🙈
