5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Right so third time spotting already and not even 8 weeks yet. I had a scan yesterday all was good couldn't see where my previous bleeding was coming from. I was doing the washing then felt like a gush and was kind of stringy brown/pink I'm just so bloody fed up of this spotting!!! Anyone else in the same boat?

suz2285 · 07/02/2023 19:41

@PBandJs that's interesting, are they corpus luteum based cysts? I was reading about them today, I have a kinda stabbing, not painful but noticeable like a stitch pain on and off in the lower left side of my uterus... I've read today sometimes those cysts that form from the corpus luteum can cause this type of low down pain... I wouldn't say it's pain but just a very specific area of uncomfy 😂 like when you pull a muscle almost

Anyway, it seems to suggest that could be what is causing it, but I guess I'll wait and see if anything shows up on a scan... did they say they'd go away? Because these ones are meant to go away later in the pregnancy apparently...

Daisy155 · 07/02/2023 19:53

@PBandJs glad to hear that all went well for you today and baby is doing well. The cyst since they are benign this does mean they won’t twist right as you had said earlier? That’s some really really good news 😄

@Bubblemachiene oh sorry 😣 to hear about the clots as well I read somewhere as long as they are not golf ball like clots that’s a good thing and bleeding of all kinds can happen in the first and sometimes even up to the second trimester!! Wishing you good luck on Thursday hope baby is tucked away safe and sound ♥️

@Sadiexox sorry to hear as well about your spotting, I had a bit of spotting earlier but it was bright red I was worried but found out it was due to the early scan, second scan was much smoother and no spotting!

Daisy155 · 07/02/2023 19:57

@winningeasy good luck for tomorrow hoping everything will be ok for you! These cravings are crazy @PBandJs I was craving mayonnaise and cheese when I say I hate mayonnaise I hate it with a passion but all of last week I eat everything with mayonnaise even gherkins 😂😂🤢

Bubblemachiene · 07/02/2023 20:05

Thanks
You guys are so positive & hopeful. I have basically written this pregnancy off now. I have had clots v small biggest was like a 10p
But I'm cramping now and still loosing a lot of blood each time I wipe. Feels like I'm on my period.
I'm just trying to focus on my daughters birthday tomorrow.

Raizelrea · 07/02/2023 20:19

@Bubblemachiene So sorry you are going through this 💐For what it's worth I do know two people who've had heavy bleeds in their first trimester and went on to have healthy pregnancies. But of course I don't want to give you false hope either. Look after yourself and hopefully you'll be wiser next week. I hope you can still enjoy your daughter's birthday!

@PBandJs That's great news about your scan, and the cysts too, so pleased thy're benign fluids!

@winningeasy I have an early scan tomorrow too, feeling very nervous. Fingers crossed for us!

suz2285 · 07/02/2023 20:26

@Raizelrea @winningeasy good luck for scans let us know how they go!

PBandJs · 07/02/2023 20:41

@suz2285 I do have the corpus luteum one on the normal ovary and because of it they were able to tell that’s the ovary this pregnancy came from which was interesting. But didn’t tell me anything else about it, although I read they’re very normal too and actually good for the baby so I guess that’s confirmed by her lack of interest in it. I also read most disappear by 12ish weeks because they provide the progesterone to the egg sac until placenta takes over, so maybe she just knew it will disappear.
I’m very lucky that I’ve had no obvious symptoms and wouldn’t know about any of this if not for the scan. I’ve been getting all sorts of aching, cramping and shooting pains on and off from the start but I just put them down to pregnancy and everything moving so hard to tell if it may actually be more the cysts. Sorry, not very helpful!

@Daisy155 it’s still a risk but the consultant said that usually if they haven’t twisted by 5-6cm then it’s a hopeful sign that they’re unlikely to, and it’s measuring even bigger today at 11.5cm 😳but there’s so many inconsistencies between the private and NHS scan measurements of them that I’m taking it all with a pinch of salt. Will see what my 12 week scan measures them at!

how funny about the mayo. I’m wondering if by the end of this I’m gonna have a completely different diet 😂 it wouldn’t be a bad thing because I do need to be more open to what I eat but just funny that I can crave things I’ve not even tasted. I wouldn’t be surprised if the fish fingers are nothing like I expect!

suz2285 · 07/02/2023 20:54

@PBandJs no that's very helpful, sounds like exactly what I read, very interesting!

PBandJs · 07/02/2023 20:59

@Raizelrea thank you. Good luck for your scan and let us know how you get on ❤️

@suz2285 glad I could help somewhat. I’m sure I’ll give further updates as I get them 🤣 this cyst is getting more air time than the poor baby at the moment!

suz2285 · 07/02/2023 21:37

@PBandJs least it doesn't have teeth anymore 😂🤞

mummmmyj · 08/02/2023 06:25

Good luck with the scans today ladies, ours is tomorrow.

New rank level loaded this morning. Vomiting on the floor whilst changing DS1 nappy.. DH ran in so fast to tag me out 😂 I’ve not really had any symptoms so it was so bizarre and unexpected.

I’m so sorry @Bubblemachiene sending lots of love and I hope your daughter has a nice birthday x

winningeasy · 08/02/2023 07:54

@suz2285 lololol

suz2285 · 08/02/2023 08:17

@mummmmyj what a start to the day! I had to clean cat sick off the sofa yest morning

Lucky I'm not at the bad stage yet! So it was fine!!

Lying in bed last night and one of my old stretch marks on my tummy started itching real bad, and I was like surely it's not expanding already! There's zero bump I think I actually look thinner than I did a few weeks ago, weight totally stable and same as before! I'm hoping my body will just stretch into the old marks I had when I was quite obese and looked pregnant anyway 😂😂

Anyone else prone to stretch marks? A physio told me once it's cos my skin isn't very stretchy, and it's just genetics, I'm covered from weight gain, teenage growth spurts and just anything, if I grow even a tiny bit I get a bunch of new ones! Hate them, but learned to just live with it! Even if I put on 20-30 lbs during this pregnancy I'll still not be at my highest weight so I'm hoping for no new ones!! 🤞

winningeasy · 08/02/2023 08:24

@suz2285 yes got loads in last pregnancy and anytime I put on weight. I have kind of grown to like them and a reminder of how hard my body worked to create my little monkey 🙉

winningeasy · 08/02/2023 08:25

Neil's Yard do a great mother balm which helps to prevent them / nourish the skin whilst it's shifting / stretching x

suz2285 · 08/02/2023 08:28

I'll def be getting something when I do start getting a bump! Even if it's just to stop the itchy stretchy feelings haha!

Raizelrea · 08/02/2023 10:26

Scan went well today, I have a little blob with a heartbeat ❤️ I couldn't see the heartbeat to be honest, but my husband, the doctor and the medical student all did so that's good enough for me 😊

Measuring 6+4, they presribed me progesterone pessaries as I had the spotting (even though it's stopped now) as I've had previous losses.

I'm so relieved! 😊

winningeasy · 08/02/2023 10:49

Scan went well, couldn't see much externally so they did an internal scan where I could see a little blob with a flickering heart beat ❤️ Actually measuring ahead at 8+2 rather than 7+6

colourPink · 08/02/2023 11:20

@winningeasy @Raizelrea great news on your scans guys. Enjoy the lovely moment 🩸

colourPink · 08/02/2023 11:20

@winningeasy @Raizelrea great news on your scans guys. Enjoy the lovely moment 🩸

I did not mean to send the blood emoji 🤣

PCOSunfortunately · 08/02/2023 12:06

Glad your scans went well ladies 🥰 do you have any symptoms I'm still not feeling that nauseous xxx

Daisy0909 · 08/02/2023 12:18

@PCOSunfortunately I was very nearly going to ask the same question this morning. I'm 7+4 but symptoms are easing! Here comes the overthinking...... 😖

Raizelrea · 08/02/2023 12:32

@winningeasy So pleased your scan went well, and your little one must have been very busy if you're measuring 8 weeks already 😊 Much closer to that 12 week mark! I'm only a day off from what my app is saying - not that I kndw what to expect as no idea when I ovulated.

@colourPink Haha no worries, and thank you 😊How are you doing? I think our timelines are pretty similar based on your scan if I remember right?

@PCOSunfortunately Thank you! My main symptom is that I'm exhausted all the time. I do get nausea, though not every day - some day I gag all the time, others I'm nearly normal.

winningeasy · 08/02/2023 12:48

@colourPink thank you! ❤️
