Pregnancy

5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@Bubblemachiene did they do internal this time

See your flo app are you just tracking when it says you should have ovulated? Or did you test for ovulation using sticks?
Do you have a regular cycle usually? And how long is it usually?

Bubblemachiene · 06/02/2023 12:59

@Bubblemachiene and how long after your ovulation did you get a positive test?

If you weren't tracking with ovulation sticks flo just 'guesses' an average ovulation time but that could be out by days/weeks depending on your cycle that month, and then depending how long your normal cycles are that can mean at least a weeks difference in dates sometimes, which at this stage makes a big difference to what they can see... so it could still just be something like that!

At least this place you feel comfortable going back for another scan next week right?

Yeah they were 100 times better
Thanks @suz2285 means a lot as can't speak in real life

@Bubblemachiene try not to worry too much, I know that's impossible, go back next week and at least you'll know if there's been a change this time as this place seems much better 🤞

@Bubblemachiene I have also been using the flo app and tracking but they also backdated me by two weeks! I think where it's so small it's hard to tell. We could see the little heartbeat flickering though.

It's made me nervous but I've just accepted I will have to wait until my 12 weeks scan to have a more accurate reading.

Really, I was thinking 2 weeks is a but much to be out by @colourPink

@Bubblemachiene if you was wasn't tracking with ovulation sticks you could potentially have ovulated really late. Someone I know went for their 12 week scan and they was 14 weeks. So she said she must of got caught smack bang after her period. Another friend got caught literally the day before her period. I think ovulation is funny timing and not always the 14 days so you could just be 5 weeks ish. Also glad the bleeding has stopped for you xxx

@Bubblemachiene I think I will be about 8 days out and with the changes based on size and the measuring tools being difficult to use accurately at that stage you could be two weeks out. I'm glad they are seeing you again in a week though. Fingers crossed.

@Bubblemachiene agreed, it could.be down to random ovulation. At least next week you should have some idea if there is development. I was obviously a week late ovulating with mine, probably why it took us 6 months to get pregnant because we were aiming for the general ovulation time and perhaps that's not how my body works!
We'll be crossing fingers for your next scan - and everyone with one upcoming!
Feels a long long time until 22nd Feb for my official one, though I've got a holiday to distract me next week at least.

Thanks @Maraudingmarauders Il admit I am struggling to be optimistic now, the scan , loss of symptoms & the blood not looking good. It will be a miracle if there's a baby there next week. I know I should be more positive. The only thing makes me think the dates are out is my test on the day after my period was due was so so faint, could barely see it. It did get stronger.
Good luck for your scam, I hope it goes fast.

suz2285 · 06/02/2023 20:11

@Bubblemachiene that does sound like the dates are out then, as your period would normally be 12-14 days after ovulation but you could get a positive on day 8-9 so in that case you could def be at least a week behind! If your positive test was actually 8-9 days after ovulation it would have been lighter... got everything crossed for you x

I swear my boobs have grown a size since yesterday 😏I feel so heavy and sluggish today. I definitely look like I have a bump (1st baby) but it is obviously just extreme bloating. Nothing I eat or don't eat seems to affect it. I don't want to buy new clothes yet (when I'm going to get so much bigger) but I'm so uncomfortable in jeans now!

Bubblemachiene · 06/02/2023 21:02

@suz2285 my positive test was done 9 days after dtd lol.. but not sure if that means anything as don't know if I was ovulating then x

@Bubblemachiene yeah if you don't know exact ovulation then the dates could be anything 😂 fingers crossed that's all it is

@Maraudingmarauders same! My boobs are so heavy and sore! They're already huge so it doesn't feel good! I read a thing today though that says that uncomfortable full feeling goes away after the first trimester! Also the bloating too I hope! But jeans, god no! Hahah to be honest I just put a bunch of my jeans in a charity bag today, I live in my leggings and if I must then it's jeggings 😂 jeans are so unforgiving!

Report
Maraudingmarauders · 06/02/2023 21:13

@suz2285 gosh I hope so! The 2nd trimester is sort of dangled in front of us like a blessed dream so I hope it lives up to the hype haha. I've got quite small boobs normally so I've been wearing jumpers and gilets to try and hide the fact that I'm now smuggling melons! I've just ordered a jumper dress for sightseeing as my plan for thermal jeans is now looking unlikely.

suz2285 · 06/02/2023 21:26

@Maraudingmarauders mine are already massive so the size increase isn't obvious to anyone yet hahah! Just to me 😂

I'm not bloated much this week so that's good, but then again I'm not trying to wear jeans! I'm just gonna live in my same stretchy leggings the whole time, I'm hoping to buy very little maternity stuff 🤞

@Bubblemachiene At my both early scans both midwives said it was too early to do an abdominal scan even when I had drank 2 litres of water on my second scan she said there was no point and to empty my bladder.

When she did the abdominal scan second scan she only saw the sack and it looked very small so she had to do the internal scan and baby measured 7 weeks and we saw baby’s heartbeat as well! Also she advised that after each scan to come back after 10 to 14 days these are the recommended days between scans to see baby’s growth. I hope it goes well for you in the coming days and hopefully you get an internal scan! 💕

@PCOSunfortunately I had an awful headache as well yesterday and it started off with me being nauseous and actually being sick 🤢 in the morning yesterday that’s never happened to me before! Then the headache came and wouldn’t go away I couldn’t drink water as it was making me even more nauseous.

I went to bed early last night and I can finally say I woke up and nausea is gone and headache too! I have lots of course work to do today so I’m hoping I feel this way all day long

How are you feeling today with the headache 🤕? Xx

Can. You call EPAU and see if they can confirm that it is a miscarriage?
