5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@colourPink so weird! Let me know how it all goes, I'm also hoping for an additional scan haha.

Daisy0909 · 05/02/2023 17:12

Good afternoon everyone, hope you're all doing well! I'm 7+1 today and my boobs don't seem to be as sore but my nausea has cranked uppp. I'm not being sick but certain smells I just cannot stand & I don't really want to eat! My OH cooked some vegan bacon earlier and despite opening the doors to air it out, lighting candles & having the diffuser on.. I can still smell it & it making me want to 🤮🤮🤮

Raizelrea · 05/02/2023 17:34

@colourPink & @localbunny Aww how amazing, so happy your scans went well and that you got to see your little blobs 🥰 Makes me excited for my scan next week if I wasn't terrified haha

@northernmam I've had loads of internal scans (courtesy of IVF) and they're really not bad at all, definitely not painful - a regular smear is more painful than that. So no need to worry 🙂

@Daisy0909 The super smell is something else, isn't it? I can't stand the smell of our washing machine at the moment, and our dog's breath is unbearable haha

suz2285 · 05/02/2023 17:59

@colourPink sometimes that extra sac can be a 'vanishing twin' so a twin that didn't grow for some reason... However I believe quite common, sometimes it throws off blood work and stuff I know the NIPT if you have that eventually can be thrown off by that too so it's worth noting just incase, keep it in your mind for any further testing.

So excited for everyone seeing their babies! Making me want to have that early scan now 😂😂

Dates are funny, I reckon the dates will catch up cos they're teeny tiny right now it cannot be accurate when they're measuring in mm's 🤷‍♀️

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 18:21

Glad your scans went went, lovely little blobs on the scan lol.

PCOSunfortunately · 05/02/2023 19:21

My head aches wrote me off today. I haven't been out the house just feel super tired I had a two hour nap earlier. wish this head ache would do one! 😢 I can deal with a niggly head ache but this is a throbbing one.

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 19:38

Think I'm out, just had some red blood & bit of goo when wiped.
Had brown spotting in pants earlier today .

WilllowStar · 05/02/2023 19:57

Hi everyone! I’m opposite from some of you today, my LMP puts me as 7+3 but the baby measured at 8 weeks today, sonographer said I probably ovulated earlier! Or I’m just having a massive babe haha. Strong heartbeat and little arms and legs- so cute. She also seen a small haemotoma in my womb which she said probably explains my spotting, she reassured me they are harmless. Feel so relieved!! It was abdominal too incase anyone else is going around my dates. Xxx

northernmam · 05/02/2023 20:04

@Bubblemachiene could you not contact EPAU and be seen? Hope you're as okay as you can be and praying everything will be alright xx

northernmam · 05/02/2023 20:06

@WilllowStar how lovely! Really glad it went well 😊 I'm going for one when my dates say I'll be 8 weeks and was hoping for abdominal too, although I know people on here have said internals aren't painful. You must be so happy xx

Maraudingmarauders · 05/02/2023 20:08

Congratulations @colourPink it's a crazy moment when you see something in there for the first time! I'll try and attach my photo...

WilllowStar · 05/02/2023 20:11

@northernmam I reckon it’ll be abdominal! I had one at 8 weeks in my last pregnancy it was also abdominal. You’ll love it, just the best actually seeing the tiny wee bean in there! Makes all the throwing up worth it haha xx

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 20:12

@northernmam I can't go now my kids are going to bed now, I'm not sure they'll even see me now this time will they?

northernmam · 05/02/2023 20:19

@Bubblemachiene I'm not sure how it works from trust to trust, but I think you can ring up your local hospital and explain what's going on to the early assessment unit, then they might suggest you go in to be seen and examined xx

PCOSunfortunately · 05/02/2023 20:19

@Bubblemachiene I know it's hard but please don't panic and think the worst too much! If it's not getting heavier you could still be perfectly fine. But please call EPAU tomorrow and ask for a scan don't tell them about the one you had this week just cry and say you've been having spotting and now red blood and need to know what's going on!

Lovely news about all your scans 🥰 mines next Sunday. Hoping for a good week this week 🤞

northernmam · 05/02/2023 20:22

@WilllowStar awww fingers crossed then! It'll be my first ever early scan, we've waited till the 12 week NHS one in my previous two pregnancies. I'm really excited but anxious too as it'll be 3 weeks on Tuesday since I got a positive test, so it feels like we've known for ages 😂 like you say though, it'll all be worth it to hopefully see a happy and healthy little one! Xx

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 21:06

@pcos I booked in for another private one tomorrow at a better scanning place earlier today before the spotting & blood
Paid deposit only Tenna
Argh
What would be better there or epau

colourPink · 05/02/2023 21:15

@Bubblemachiene I think if you have a private one it won't make any difference: they'll both just scan to see if the pregnancy is viable.

I found today that my sister (who is 40 in March and already has two teen kids) is pregnant! She only found out a few days ago and it was a complete surprise.

Anyway, she's likely a month or more ahead of me as she thought she had a light period in December. Turns out that was just implantation bleeding 🩸- blood can be okay! Luckily she didn't even know she was pregnant then or she would have worried so much. So I wouldn't worry until you know you need to.

colourPink · 05/02/2023 21:16

@Maraudingmarauders congratulations! It is crazy! I'm just counting down until my 12 week one now 🙊

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 21:27

@colourPink ah really that's brilliant. Oh well either way il know tomorrow I don't even care about the cost now just need to know.
X

suz2285 · 05/02/2023 21:30

@Bubblemachiene what a stress! I'd just go to the private one since you've already booked it and you know you'll be able to get in there, where as EPU might not see you depending on their criteria.... everything crossed for you! Please let us know 🤞🙏

suz2285 · 05/02/2023 21:37

@northernmam god it feels like about 6 months since we've known but it's only been 3 weeks 😂 crazy!

I'm still undecided about early scan, did you feel like it was a really long time to wait with your first two? What made you decide to get the early scan this time?

I seen my pal today and it feels so weird to not say anything to people! I've made plans to go on a little road trip with her for the day in a months time so hopefully won't be dying as I'll be 10 weeks by then! 😂😂

northernmam · 05/02/2023 22:44

@suz2285 I think with just purely knowing so so early this time, I want that bit of reassurance in between if that makes sense.

Aw I totally understand, it's so difficult not to tell them or slip up when you're talking about stuff 😂 she might guess! Xx

Bubblemachiene · 06/02/2023 12:17

Hi all been for scan. She said can only see sack and looks like I'm 5 weeks. She asked about my dates and periods which I'm sure are right as I've been tracking on my flo app.
She said they could be out but I'm certain I can't be out by 2 weeks, should be 7 weeks now. So I'm no better off & £82.50 down after both scans arghh. She said she would book me in next week.
I've had no more red blood. Pad was clean what I wore last night. This morning I had v light pinky browny stuff when I wiped.

Are the measurements any different to your last one?
