5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@Bubblemachiene yes very sore boobs, they've never been this sore in my previous pregnancies!

PCOSunfortunately · 05/02/2023 09:20

Yes! sore boobs over here to! No other symptoms though really. I feel tired a lot but not sure if that's mind over matter. I feel hungover and I had alcohol free gin. Woke up in the night really thirsty and I've got a banging headache. They must put something in them to give the same hungover feel 🤣🙈 trying to lay off the paracetamol though! Oh and I'm hungry all the time but I really don't want to eat healthy stuff. Toast, crumpets jam donuts 🙈

mummmmyj · 05/02/2023 09:27

@Bubblemachiene I have no symptoms at all aside from no period and positive pregnancy test (7 weeks). I had heavy boobs and insomnia, the boobs have gone and the insomnia is lingering but I am currently in bed with the flu though - waiting on a call back from out of hours GP cos I can’t get my temp below 39 and google is quite scary with flu and pregnancy!

Good luck for scans today ladies x

suz2285 · 05/02/2023 09:30

@Bubblemachiene that'll teach me to read the text properly 😂😂 honestly tho one of my pals she came off the pill and didn't have a period, they found out she was pregnant and she went for her 12 weeks scan and she was 21 weeks gone 😂🙈 no symptoms or anything! So it does happen...

@PCOSunfortunately I've had so many headaches recently it's like pressure behind my eyes kind, the first few weeks was def some caffeine withdrawl but still getting them now! Have had to take paracetamol twice but apart from that just battling through!

@mummmmyj hope you're feeling better soon! Being ill sucks but esp when you're also worrying about baby!

mummmmyj · 05/02/2023 09:32

@suz2285 Thank you! Kicked my husband and toddler out for the day so I can just lay in bed and rest in silence!

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 09:35

Really @mummmmyj it's crazy isbt it
7weeks today here.
I'm not sure if I was nauseous or was it my imagination but my mouth was ever so slightly watery lol.

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 09:36

Omg @suz2285 that's crazy
You read those stories but don't really believe them lol

mummmmyj · 05/02/2023 09:38

@Bubblemachiene honestly try not to stress about the lack on symptoms. My nearly 2 year old is a very happy and healthy boy and aside from a HUGE bump I really didn’t feel pregnant at all!

Daisy155 · 05/02/2023 10:01

Good morning all! @WilllowStar yes I had a scan at 7 weeks and everything turned out well I had an internal scan!

I have no symptoms anymore the past 2 days and I have lost all appetite! I can’t be bothered to eat. I am just in bed now because my husband doesn’t want me doing much today as I did a lot yesterday.

I had my first midwife appointment yesterday, she placed me at 9 weeks (which I am not) and so I will be having my scan a lot earlier!

The midwife I saw was the one that looked after me and my husband in the hospital last year after what happened! She was so happy when I walked in she gave me the biggest hug, she said I knew we would see you very soon, she feels extremely positive about this pregnancy. I was so grateful and it made the process easier.

She gave me the Gestational diabetes monitoring machine and I have booked to get all my bloods done next week I will 8 weeks this Monday coming I feel like time is going by extremely fast and I’m happy means we get to see our babies very soon!

PCOSunfortunately · 05/02/2023 10:07

@Bubblemachiene please try not to worry my boob tenderness comes and goes I bet by this afternoon it will be back!

@mummmmyj that's reassuring that you had a happy and healthy baby with no symptoms! Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell! My sister in law is due June and she was bed bound for 4 days after Christmas really flued up baby is 20 weeks now and lovely and healthy heart beat 🥰

@suz2285 that's me so hungry tiniest bit of nausea but i eat and it goes but my head aches are very annoying, like you they go be hind my eyes! I suffer with head aches anyway so of course I was going to suffer with them being pregnant!

suz2285 · 05/02/2023 10:26

@PCOSunfortunately yes they say if you have headaches or migraines you're more likely to suffer in pregnancy, so that's def me!

@Daisy155 that's so sweet about the midwife! Everything crossed for a healthy pregnancy! Also wow imagine you are 2 weeks further along, it's all very guesswork at this stage isn't it with 'standard' measurements, I read a chart the other day and it says 7-8 weeks size can vary between like 4mm and 9mm so that's quite a big difference!

@Bubblemachiene my other pal at uni his sister had a baby, she was tiny and she was still a size 8 flat stomach etc, a few weeks before she gave birth! Went into hosp for stomach pain and came out with a surprise baby!!! He got a call saying he was an uncle one random night out of the blue! Now those ones you really don't hear a lot but these are both people I know!

But yeah, my pal her periods hadn't come back after being on the pill so she just assumed she was waiting for the first period but nope she was pregnant 😂 if that was me I'd prob take a test after a few months just incase, but everyone is different!

My 'nausea' is weird this last few weeks it's not like omg I feel sick it's just a gurgly weird feeling stomach, and like some things don't sit right if I eat them, and I can't decide if eating helps or not cos sometimes I feel weird after eating too but I can cope with this level 👌🤞

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 10:33

This all sounds reassuring
Thanks everyone
Xxx

colourPink · 05/02/2023 10:41

I have my scan today at 2pm. I feel SO anxious! I want to feel excited but all I can think about is the "what ifs..."

Honestly looking forward to getting it over and done with so I know 😬

northernmam · 05/02/2023 10:42

@colourPink good luck! Xx

PCOSunfortunately · 05/02/2023 11:12

@colourPink wishing you all the best 🥰

@Daisy155 so glad that you are being monitored very closely. That's very reassuring for you ❤️ you have such a beautiful bond with your midwife. Hope you are able to eat something soon ❤️ xxx

Tinkerbell098 · 05/02/2023 11:35

@PCOSunfortunately I'm alright today. Trying to stay positive until my scan on Tuesday. Spotting hasn't stopped yet, but hasn't got heavy either.

@colourPink good luck for the scan today X

@Bubblemachiene I'm another one with no symptoms so far. Honestly, if I hadn't been through ivf and missed a period, I'd never know I'm pregnant. Just over 9 weeks now.

PCOSunfortunately · 05/02/2023 11:40

@Tinkerbell098 really good news that it hasn't got any heavier! I'm addicted to Alex jones from the one show it's called making babies on W channel. It's all about IVF I find it super interesting and a lot of people spot more than you'd think and go on to have lovely healthy babies 🥰 xxx

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 11:58

Its crazy isn't it @Tinkerbell098
I actually wish I felt sick lol

colourPink · 05/02/2023 14:33

Just had my scan and there is a baby there! I had an internal one and it really wasn't bad - lots of people said it hurt and it didn't at all.

So, my apps say I am 7+6. I always thought I was more 7weeks as my cycles are longer but this scan has pushed me right back to 6 weeks today! Making my due date Oct 1st (estimate). I might not even be having a September baby anymore 🤣

Relieved it's all good!

5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread
northernmam · 05/02/2023 14:59

@colourPink awww so pleased everything went well! I have a scan booked for a week on Friday when my dates from LMP would put me at 8 weeks, so will be interesting to see what they measure me as. Glad the internal wasn't bad as I'm anxious about potentially having it rather than just the abdominal.

PCOSunfortunately · 05/02/2023 15:26

@colourPink glad everything went okay and there's a lil baby in there 🥹 I reckon quite a few of us will be pushed back and end up being October 🤣 xx

localbunny · 05/02/2023 16:25

@colourPink I'm in such a similar situation! My app is saying 7w, I thought 6+4 and my scan today put me at 6w with 1st Oct due date! My tiny blob looked just like yours haha. So cute to see the heartbeat 💓 all the best for your pregnancy!

colourPink · 05/02/2023 16:34

@localbunny - how odd! We really are in the same boat. When was your first positive pregnancy test?

I was reading this leaflet they gave me and it said whenever you had your first positive pregnancy test you lovely conceived 2 weeks before that.

We've worked out that they're trying to say I conceived and then took a positive test only 9 days later - which doesn't make sense. Basically, I'm wondering whether or not I am slightly ahead but just measuring small. I was a small baby and my mum always carried small. I suppose I'll have to wait for my 12 week scan to know for sure!

They also said there was a second sack but it was empty. Not sure what that means? Maybe that there was a second baby at some point?

localbunny · 05/02/2023 16:40

@colourPink 17th Jan was my first positive test, I think I was actually 2wks by then as I did a clearblue and it said 2-3 weeks. So I think I'm just measuring small for the moment and trying not to worry about it (easier said than done haha). What about your first test?

Have you booked your first midwife appointment? I think they'll still date us according to the standard way so our 12wk scan might be a bit early!

Not sure about the second sack tbh, weird they didn't explain that a bit more!

colourPink · 05/02/2023 16:54

@localbunny omg this is sooooo weird! My first test was also the 17th Jan!

I'm with you, I think we are further along but just measuring small.

Looking forward to the next scan and if they have to scan us twice as we're too early then bonus!
