5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

I've got to go food shopping in abit. I've got friends round tonight so I've got to buy some alcohol free pink gin and some normal gin and swap the bottles 🙈 I so want to tell them as they know our journey but Im keeping it a secret! Hope you all have a lovely alcohol free Saturday xxx

Maraudingmarauders · 04/02/2023 11:36

Have fun tonight @PCOSunfortunately !
I'll let you.know how the scan goes, fingers all crossed.
@Purplegiraffes so pleased to hear yours went well, what a relief.

Tinkerbell098 · 04/02/2023 14:20

Thanks everyone ❤️. I've been to see the out of hours gp who then referred me to EPU. they are seeing me on Tuesday. It's still brown at the moment so hope it stays that way. It's a constant flow rather than on and off which worries me.

@Maraudingmarauders good luck for your scan today X

northernmam · 04/02/2023 14:33

@Tinkerbell098 hopefully Tuesday is able to put your mind at rest 🤞such a worrying time! Please keep us updated.

I'm only 6+1 and all I want at the minute is cake. The texture literally makes my mouth water. I sent DH out for some today and can't wait till the kids are in bed so I can enjoy it in peace 😂

Maraudingmarauders · 04/02/2023 14:36

@Tinkerbell098 I hope they have good news for you 🙏

Scan went well, I actually have a baby in there! With a heartbeat. And I'm glad to say just the one!
They reckon I'm a week behind so measured me at 8+4. I'll get proper confirmation at my NHS scan on 22nd February and at least then I can see if they've grown by 2 weeks.
New measurements put my EDD as 12/09

WilllowStar · 04/02/2023 14:58

Has anyone had a scan around 7 weeks? I had one booked for 9 weeks but I’ve had two episodes of spotting and wanted some reassurance but now worried there won’t be much to see! I wish we could just fast forward to 12 weeks 😐 xx

northernmam · 04/02/2023 15:00

@Tinkerbell098 aw that's brilliant news, so pleased for you! Xx

winningeasy · 04/02/2023 15:58

@northernmam same. It was all I was thinking about and DH somehow read my mind and bought some delicious ones back after taking baby out all morning.

I have currently got Strep A from my toddler. I do not recommend! So it was nice to have some time in the house by myself and have some cakes as a treat.

suz2285 · 04/02/2023 16:14

@PCOSunfortunately enjoy your sneaky alcohol free gin! Let us know if it's any good? We still have loads of alcohol free left from the wedding but I haven't even tried it haha

@Purplegiraffes yey for the scan going well! And to you @Maraudingmarauders and lol about only being one, that's what I'm hoping for too!! We have twins on both sides of our fam!! 🙈

@northernmam that's funny, I haven't had any real cravings yet, but I've been feeling less nausea and more hunger the last few days, still waiting for the feeling terrible to kick in but I'm hoping to be one of the lucky ones but we shall see!!

@Tinkerbell098 good luck for your scan! Everything crossed for you, glad you got a referral!

@WilllowStar it's so difficult but I'd say to wait as long as you can, cos even if your dates are a few days out it can mean they don't see much and then there's the panic until you can get scanned again... it seems so long to wait tho doesn't it!

I'm still undecided about an early scan, I'm wondering if I'll just hold on the for NHS one assuming no issues before then! It's miles away for me I don't even see the midwife until the end of this month another 3 and a bit weeks 😂

Bubblemachiene · 04/02/2023 16:29

I wouldn't recommend an early scan lol unless it's internal I regret going now. I've rang another clinic and they said they won't do one within 2 weeks of having a scan, so il just have to wait it out. I did try ringing hospital epau twice no answer & had a busy day so no time to keep trying.

Sorry I tagged the wrong person, so so pleased for you! Xx

northernmam · 04/02/2023 16:35

@winningeasy awww I hope you feel better soon! And hope you enjoyed your cake too!

@suz2285 awww hopefully you continue to not feel terrible! I have gone from nausea to feeling starving at times and then back again, but eating actually eases the nausea!

@Bubblemachiene aw that is so frustrating! Got everything crossed for you xx

colourPink · 04/02/2023 17:25

@WilllowStar I have a private scan tomorrow and I'm 7+6. But my cycles are longer so I really think I'm more like 7 weeks.

It will be internal though so hopefully we'll still be able to see a fair bit!

Raizelrea · 04/02/2023 18:05

@WilllowStar I'm having one on Wednesday when I should be 6+5, so I'll let you know! I'm not sure if we'll see much but my fertility clinic offered it to me for free so of course I said yes. I'm pretty sure it will be an internal scan so hopefully will show something. Like you I've had a bit of spotting so I'm hoping it will give me some reassurance - or at least clarity.

I hope things settle down for you. I would have been naughty and not told the other clinic I had a scan 😬

suz2285 · 04/02/2023 19:12

So I called my mum tonight for a chat about houses and we've been talking on and off for a year or so about potential future kids etc and everything is 'if' I have kids or 'if' we're lucky enough to have them etc..... still is that same conversations, but it feels like they def know we're at least trying now 😂

Husband says he reckons my mum knows and she knows I'm waiting till I've had a scan to say etc! Why does it suddenly feel like everyone 'might' know something 😂

Also felt like my boss was looking at me weird last week but sometimes she just does that! Hahah 😂

Bubblemachiene · 04/02/2023 20:11

Do you think its safe? @FarmBaby3
I could just go somewhere else there's plenty local enough
I'm just sorry I went to that cheap rubbish place

WilllowStar · 04/02/2023 20:14

@colourPink @Raizelrea
mine is also tomorrow I’ll be 7+4 (roughly) was hoping it would be abdominal but we shall see. I’ll update here how it goes. My symptoms are in full swing, I’m usually sick around 5 times a day 🤢 tired, sore boobs etc. hope everyone is good xx

I believe it's safe and I would do it. I don't see how it would be any different from you having a very long thorough scan. Your last scan was about 3 seconds and it was on your tummy. People have had tummy scan then internal scan. I don't see it being any different to that.

PCOSunfortunately · 05/02/2023 08:09

@Maraudingmarauders woohoo! Lovely news that there's a baby in there with a heart beat what a relief for you all 🥰 glad it went really well ❤️

@Tinkerbell098 Tuesday can't come quick enough for you! How are you this morning?

@WilllowStar hope your scan goes well today ❤️

northernmam · 05/02/2023 08:22

@WilllowStar good luck for your scan today! Xx

northernmam · 05/02/2023 08:52

Definitely feel as though I've struggled with tiredness yesterday and today. I've had zero energy, still feel like that today, even though I fell asleep before 9 last night and slept till half 7!

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 09:02

Good luck for scans today those who have one,
Please share them if you don't mind ☺️

Has anyone not got sore boots?

suz2285 · 05/02/2023 09:06

@Bubblemachiene yep still sore boobs over here I'd say it's my main symptom since about 9dpo 😂

@northernmam I'm the same it's like some days I feel totally fine, then other days everything feels like hard work!

@WilllowStar good luck today let us know how it goes

Bubblemachiene · 05/02/2023 09:08

@suz2285 oh I meant not got haha
Nice to know though 😁
I wish mine were sore ha
