Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@Bubblemachiene don't stress yet you maybe too far gone for the pregnancy test hormone to pick it up! That stupid scan has scared you!! Everything will be fine I'm sure of it 🥰 xxx

Raizelrea · 03/02/2023 17:29

@Bubblemachiene Oh no, sorry to hear that, but as others are saying it might not necessarily mean anything yet, some people no longer test positive once the HCG gets too high (and equally if the HCG gets too high the test can't tell you if things are going well or not anymore as all the numbers are way off). Have you rang the EPU? Sounds like you you could really use seeing them to get some clarity x

suz2285 · 03/02/2023 17:33

@Bubblemachiene have your symptoms gone as well? That's weird cos even if it was a MMC there would be still hcg in your system... it sounds more like there's too much hcg for the test, how are you feeling otherwise?

@Raizelrea you're right! Happy 6 weeks! Feels like it's been a long time coming in reality it's only been like 2 weeks 😂

@PCOSunfortunately I asked a midwife about the antihistamines today and she said there are safe ones but to ask the doc or pharmacist as they'll be able to tell you, so I'd def do that, I need to do the same! Unless you let me know when you know 😂

Bubblemachiene · 03/02/2023 17:36

I think il ring epu Tomorrow. I've had one more cheap test here and a clear blue weeks test will that work?
I've not really had sickness or sore boots just a bit of gas & strong sense if smell
Starting with a headache now

northernmam · 03/02/2023 17:52

@Bubblemachiene oh no, I will keep anything crossed that all is okay. You definitely do right to ring EPAU. Thinking of you and please keep us updated xx

Bubblemachiene · 03/02/2023 17:58

Thank you @northernmam

BebeSurprise · 03/02/2023 20:55

Hi all,

Hope it's ok to join in the chat :) I've been lurking since I found out I was pregnant a week or so ago. Have done several home tests, all very strong positives and I've been suffering with nausea and incredibly sore boobs! According to the internet I'm around 7+2.

I started to have really sharp stabbing pains last night which have carried on to today & my boobs don't feel as sore today & the nausea has lifted a lot. I called my local EPU who said not to worry too much especially as there's no bleeding, but that stabbing pains can be a sign of ectopic pregnancy so to keep an eye on it and get a GP referral if it continues. Trying not to worry and overthink but it's really difficult, isn't it?

2 weeks ago I didn't even know I was pregnant and now I'm terrified something will go wrong, so weird!

Hope you're all doing well this evening xx

winningeasy · 03/02/2023 21:01

@BebeSurprise how are the pains now?
I don't think you get strong lines with ectopic pregnancies but I could be wrong.
Even though it's early I do think it would be apparent now if you were.

I'm 7+1 btw ❤️

Maybe see how you do for a few more days and book a scan for around 8 weeks to reassure yourself?

BebeSurprise · 03/02/2023 21:10

@winningeasy you're sweet, thank you ❤congratulations!

I've had a few twinges this afternoon but nothing for a while. It was mostly last night when they came on and it stopped me in my tracks.

I have an appointment with my GP on Monday morning, I'm going to mention it then and if they don't refer me to the EPU I think I'll book a private scan. I have a bit of a mental block about doing the private scan in case it's bad news, but I think it would help to know either way as it's so stressful to sit wondering.

Maraudingmarauders · 03/02/2023 21:13

@BebeSurprise welcome! I was having terrible stabbing pains about 10days ago (I'm now 9+5) and really freaking out. Nearly called 111 (late in the evening when it was worst) but decided against it. Happened in and off for a few days but I realised it seemed to be gas! I started wearing looser clothing, and when the pain was particularly bad I'd massage my stomach a bit and it would subside. I've been so unbelievably gassy anyway I think it was extra trapped wind. Obviously keep an eye and call your.GP if you're worried but I just wanted to say I had similar and it has subsided over the last week or so.

Scan tomorrow 😲I'm excited and nervous in equal measure. DH let it slip to our (lovely) neighbours this evening - all they did was ask if we had plans for the weekend! So how he's going to keep it secret whe he sees his mom on Sunday I have no idea. Hopefully knowing its on pain of death from me will motivate him to watch himself!

BebeSurprise · 03/02/2023 21:22

@Maraudingmarauders that's so reassuring, thank you! And oddly enough my other half suggested it could be trapped wind as I too have had a bloody awful gassy stomach the last few weeks 😂

Good luck for your scan tomorrow!! Let us know how it goes (and I'm praying for your husband and his big mouth 🫢)

suz2285 · 03/02/2023 21:26

@BebeSurprise welcome! Hope you're doing good! Lol at the weirdness of going from nothing to freaking out about everything, welcome to the club! I've been having shooting pains in my boobs and a few in my lady parts as well, nothing that would warrant alarm but def noticeable, I did Google the shooting down there pains and I came to the conclusion it was my uterus stretching, who knows

@Maraudingmarauders same with my husband I'm terrified it's going to just slip out in conversation and I've told him no telling anyone until we know baby is healthy! Good luck for your scan tomorrow!! Let us know how it goes x

Tinkerbell098 · 03/02/2023 23:18

Girls I've started spotting. It's brown for now, but enough to seep on to a pad, so not just when wiping. I'm terrified. Meant to be 9 weeks tomorrow 😞

PBandJs · 03/02/2023 23:44

@suz2285 I feel your pain about the housing situation. Ours is a little different in that we’re stuck in a cladding building and the funding has been moving so slowly that our date for work to start keeps getting pushed back, so we’re likely not out of here for easily another 2 years unless they make it so it can be mortgaged again before work is finished.

I dunno how we’re going to manage in a 1 bed but I just keep trying to remind myself that people have managed in smaller so we’ll get by! 🫠 we didn’t expect to get pregnant so quickly but also can’t put our lives on hold for years waiting if it’s not gonna come anytime soon. We’ve already waited 2 years and barely seen any progress…

I’ve already decided the buggy is living in the car and we’re going for a minimalist theme on furniture 🤣

suz2285 · 04/02/2023 06:52

@Tinkerbell098 try not to worry it's very common to spot and unless it's heaps of red blood it's usually totally fine, even heaps of blood sometimes doesn't mean anything, it's a terrifying time though I know that doesn't help, big hugs

@PBandJs I know the feeling, honestly I feel like it's stupid to move and we could def manage for a few years here! My mum doesn't live here and for her to visit I kinda wanted her to have a room rather than sleeping in the lounge with a baby haha! But who knows. Just see what happens, like you I didn't expect to get pregnant so quickly either, but again we didn't want to put our lives on hold because it's not 'perfect', no one's is! My mum said she slept in a drawer until she was 1 😂

Bubblemachiene · 04/02/2023 07:47

Hope your OK @Tinkerbell098 as others say, it's really common they say heaps of red with cramps is a worry. Why is this stage so scary,, argh
I done another cheap test with half water, it was still negi think. Maybe a tiny shadow. I done clear blue which said 2-3 weeks but that'd what I got a week & a day ago.

PCOSunfortunately · 04/02/2023 08:09

Sorry girls I had a busy Friday night!

@BebeSurprise hope you're okay and the stabbing pains have stopped i to have had these and turned out it was trapped wind but it's better to be safe than sorry.

@Bubblemachiene you're torturing yourself I'd do the same though 😞 is there not any where you can book in for a reputable private scan this weekend to put your mind at rest?

@Tinkerbell098 try not to worry I would call your GP or the EPU and ask to be seen but like others have said if it's not red blood that you shouldn't be too worrried! I know it's hard not to be and it causes us so much stress. I wish we could be pregnant and that's it's then everything is going to be okay from there!

@Maraudingmarauders good luck today with your scan. Please show us scan pictures if you want to 🥰 my partners the same a right blabber mouth. I've told him not to mention anything to anyone. So far so good. Until today I reckon when he's at the footie drunk with his mates 🙈

northernmam · 04/02/2023 08:17

Sorry just catching up! Hope you are all feeling a bit more at ease this morning. @Bubblemachiene I'd definitely see if you can be referred to EPAU or book a private scan to try and put your mind at rest.
@Tinkerbell098 I really hope the spotting has subsided but if you're worried, definitely ring 111. Sending you both hugs xx

Bubblemachiene · 04/02/2023 08:18

I know 🙈 I'm just going to I think, I was trying to hold off incase my dates were out as thinking if there's no heartbeat seen then I'd want to book again in a week .
Those cheap tests have lines on now, one v faint & one light pink
I just looked in bin (I know stupid)

Laul89 · 04/02/2023 08:41

Morning everyone!

@Bubblemachiene I think it’s best to ring the EPU just to get their advice, it must be awful for you sitting wondering 😩 hope all is ok!

@Maraudingmarauders @PCOSunfortunately haha I’ve said the same to my husband as he’s out today/tonight for the match, can see him having a few and announcing to everyone 🤦🏻‍♀️ he’s been warned 🤣

FarmBaby3 · 04/02/2023 08:48

@Bubblemachiene that sounds really stressful. I agree with the others that a call to the EPU would be a good idea.

Bubblemachiene · 04/02/2023 09:05

Thanks all
I'm not before 8 weeks, il try later as got a busy morning
Hope everyone else is OK
Does anyone have no symptoms?

colourPink · 04/02/2023 09:19

@Bubblemachiene I often worry I have no symptoms! Like this morning. I've woken up and other than still feeling a bit tired (that's nothing unusual - I've been working all week!) I feel fine.

Overall I have felt fine. Sore boobs at times and tired but I haven't had any other symptoms! I'm hoping it's the "all pregnancies are different". I definitely haven't had any strong symptoms.

Ring the EPU/book another scan. I have all my my fingers crossed for you! 🤞🏼

Bubblemachiene · 04/02/2023 09:20

Thank you so much @colourPink

Purplegiraffes · 04/02/2023 10:22

@BellaPixi wishing you the best with your scan today. I had my first scan yesterday, a healthy fast heartbeat TG. Fingers crossed it continues like that. And hopefully you’ll have good news too.
