5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

I am feeling very queasy this morning- it’s awful isn’t it.

PCOSunfortunately · 01/02/2023 08:00

Thanks ladies 🥰 I'm a little worried this morning went to the toilet and I had the tiniest amount of brown discharge 😢 also the pain in my boobs have seemed to disappeared fearing the worse right now 😭

suz2285 · 01/02/2023 08:01

@PCOSunfortunately happy birthday! Luckily I'm not a big drinker so no one cares if I drink or not, also not a big birthday celebrator and I have not many plans the next whole so phew! Enjoy it though whatever you do!

Good luck to everyone who's got scans coming up! That's so exciting

I feel ok today so far, had a horrible emotional and overwhelming day yesterday just came home early from work and went for a cry/nap 😂 poor husband had no idea why I was upset, neither did I just so much going on in my head! Working from home the next couple of days so that should be fine 🤞

suz2285 · 01/02/2023 08:02

@PCOSunfortunately try not to worry it's probably absolutely nothing, but keep an eye on it... I know it's so difficult to know what's going on in these situations, I hate not being in control, hugs!

Daisy155 · 01/02/2023 08:16

@PCOSunfortunately yes keep an eye on it and try to think have you done anything strenuous on your body maybe a long walk or a big clean!

I was spotting after my first scan and I was a bit concerned but I knew baby was ok! Also my boob pain came in only for 2 or 3 days and it’s been gone ever since!

if it gets heave heard over to the emergency gynaecologist and demand a scan or call them for one especially xx

northernmam · 01/02/2023 08:20

@PCOSunfortunately happy belated birthday! And keep an eye on it and try and rest as much as you can xx

PCOSunfortunately · 01/02/2023 08:55

Thanks ladies I'll keep you updated so so worrying isn't it! I've had boob pain since I found out I was pregnant. I've also got a pinching pain which is worrying me 😢 I walked the dog last night, changed the bed and hoovered that's about it 🤷‍♀️

winningeasy · 01/02/2023 09:06

@PCOSunfortunately brown is old blood, this is a positive sign, it could be from the original implantation or further burrowing into the uterine lining. I had a couple of bleeds in my last pregnancy, one at 8 weeks and one at 33 weeks. It's very common. Try not to worry. I know that's hard though. Can you do something nice for yourself today? X

winningeasy · 01/02/2023 09:12

@Daisy155 managed some eggs, avo, rye toast and a little bit of rocket this morning! I put some balsamic vinegar on the avo and it seemed more appetising
I felt much better yesterday and managed some salmon, veg and humus last night. And better today. Now I'm worrying lol
I am swearing by downing a bottle of kombucha as soon as you get up.
And defo anything to keep the digestive system moving, I think constipation can make you feel like utter shit - sluggish, brain fog, which is a massive part of the problem - prunes seem to be doing their job x

Daisy0909 · 01/02/2023 11:32

Hello everyone! Congratulations to all the mamas on here!
I found out a couple of weeks ago I am expecting my first baby, it feels so good to say that out loud somewhere as we're keeping it a secret until we've had our scan!

Midwifes estimated due date is based off my last period but my cycle was 42 days! 😮(pcos) so when I work it out, I'm due 23rd September :-)
Only just starting out with the nausea which I'm grateful for as I take it as a sign everything's working as it's meant to be.. Had a complete loss of appetite for the last week or so too.
Also, the sore breasts... Is it just me or are they SO much worse at night time?!

suz2285 · 01/02/2023 13:02

@Daisy0909 hi! Welcome! And congrats!
A lot of us keeping secrets right now too! I'm also not telling anyone until we know baby is healthy!

God yes the boobs, mine seem to be super heavy by nighttime but still sore during the day 😂 nausea is on and off so I'm just enjoying it when it's not too bad, I had zero appetite last week but this week it's slightly better so now I need to be careful not to eat all the things

You're around the same week as me I'm due 29th ish so I'm waiting for the worse nausea everyone keeps talking about! Hopefully won't be too bad

Daisy0909 · 01/02/2023 15:41

@suz2285 thank you so much & congrats to you too 😊

Aw lovely , I expect my date to change but I'm pretty convinced on conception date so I'm hoping I'm not too far out with it.

Yes really heavy and so sore at night time, they are still pretty sensitive during the day to the point I don't really want to wear a bra.. I WFH most days so that's not too much of a problem haha!

Glad you're appetite has come back, I'm trying to eat little and often but I literally just do not fancy anything it's crazy!

FarmBaby3 · 01/02/2023 17:57

@PCOSunfortunately I hope you managed to get hold of someone to ask for advice today and you have some answers x

PCOSunfortunately · 01/02/2023 18:13

Touch wood guys that was the only little bit of brown blood I've saw all day! My boobs are back being heavy and sore again. Not as sore as some days though. I took a pregnancy test when I got home. I know it's not 100%fail proof but it helped me think there is something there. We booked for an 8 week scan on the 12th feb so just holding out for that now 🤞 thanks for all your kind comments and reassurance you ladies are very comforting 🥰

Hope everyone's okay today xxx

northernmam · 01/02/2023 18:48

@PCOSunfortunately awww I'm so pleased to hear this! It does sound like it was just some old blood but totally understandable it had you worried, I'd have been exactly the same!

I'm doing okay today - sore boobs, tiredness and nausea, although it does ease when I eat something, is anyone else the same?

Have you told many people yet? I've literally only told my mam and dad and we've told the kids. Waiting till 12 week scan to tell wider family and friends xx

FarmBaby3 · 01/02/2023 18:54

I'm exactly the same with boobs, tiredness and nausea. My nausea also goes if I eat something so I'm constantly eating 😂

northernmam · 01/02/2023 18:55

@FarmBaby3 it's a good reason to eat though isn't it 😂

PCOSunfortunately · 01/02/2023 20:24

Yeah my nausea goes when I eat. I was more nauseas yesterday. I was just reading about molly mae and she said she didn't have any sickness and what nausea she did get she could ease by eating! So I feel that's quite reassuring to ☺️

We haven't told anyone yet and don't plan to till the 12 week scan. How do your kids feel about another baby ?😍

northernmam · 01/02/2023 20:51

@PCOSunfortunately aw it is reassuring! I've just had my tea and thankfully the nausea has passed for now. Seeing if heartburn kicks in now though 😂

Our 6 year old is excited but obviously our 1 year old has no clue yet what's going on bless her xx

Raizelrea · 01/02/2023 21:03

I told my manager today, she was really lovely and supportive about it and said I could work from home more in the first trimester if I need to. Really pleased I told her even though it's early days.

@Daisy0909 Welcome! I had the loss of appetite in the first week too - or rather, I still wanted the same foods I normally like, but everything tasted rotten so I'd end up having a bite and leaving it. Do you think you'll keep it a secret from everyone in the first trimester, or are you telling families?

@PCOSunfortunately That sounds like really encouraging development, I've got everything crossed for you!

suz2285 · 01/02/2023 21:10

@PCOSunfortunately that sounds reassuring that there's nothing else going on! So exciting about your early scan!

My boobs are still sore but I was feeling awful yesterday, today I've been feeling pretty grand so of course I'm a bit worried now! Hahah... honestly can't win! Though I'm still grouchy so I'm sure it's fine

Nausea non existent today, haven't been massively hungry though... still feeling puffy and bloated tho 🤣

I'm just about to begin week 6 in a few
Days and Im just hoping it doesn't get much worse nausea wise!

Maraudingmarauders · 01/02/2023 21:16

Another to eating constantly now too, to get rid of the nausea. I'm even keeping ritz crackers by the bed for when I wake up haha. Weirdest symptom to date is I was going mad thinking something in my fridge was going off. Dh came in and said he couldn't smell anything wrong at all, honestly smells like rotting flesh to me! No idea what is going on.

We've told a couple of friends, will wait to tell family and work after 12week scan.

northernmam · 01/02/2023 21:36

@suz2285 when do you go into week 6? It's Friday for me!
I have felt ridiculously bloated as well for the last few days and have even had some slight heartburn, so naturally I went out and bought a box of 96 rennies today, just to be on the safe side 😂
@Maraudingmarauders having a heightened sense of smell is really common but poor you that it's rotten flesh you can smell 😩 it's reassuring that other people are experiencing the same with nausea easing when they've eaten xx

Daisy155 · 02/02/2023 00:00

Welcome @Daisy0909 congratulations I saw you have PCOS as well and those cycles are so long right but glad to see a few of us have made it to this thread 🥰! Xx

I am feeling so hot today just brought the fan upstairs and switched off all the heating! I just finished having a shower now to cool down.

I hate brushing my teeth at the moment it makes my nausea worse! But just had to do it!

rebooked my midwife appointment because of what happened last year I have been assigned to the hospital midwives.

So I will no longer be in the care of the same community midwives I had a couple of months ago. My first appointment has been scheduled for this Saturday and they will book the following regular scans I have been having!

I am feeling extremely positive about this pregnancy, everything seems much more organised and they are being more urgent!

Bubblemachiene · 02/02/2023 07:06

Hi all how long did it take for midwife to get in touch? I filled a form in at docs a week ago and not heared anything.

Also no nausea here, and I keep wanting coke same as when I had my son do I'm thinking little one is a boy.
My sense of smell is so strong. I bought a cooked chicken for our roast but couldn't eat it as it smelled off to me, hubby said it was fine.
