5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@PBandJs all the best for the scan today. Thinking of you X

PBandJs · 31/01/2023 12:07

@northernmam @Tinkerbell098
thank you ❤️ I will give an update later 🤞🏼 x

PCOSunfortunately · 31/01/2023 12:49

@PBandJs good luck with your scan. Let us know how you get on! 💖 super excited for you xxxx

Maraudingmarauders · 31/01/2023 12:54

@PBandJs good luck!

PCOSunfortunately · 31/01/2023 13:11

@Maraudingmarauders I haven't been sick but I'm feeling pretty nauseous now. Can only be a good thing right? Booked my midwife appointment today for the 22nd feb 🥰
Sorry to hear you didn't get a good night sleep 😞 nightmare isn't it when you're wide awake in the middle of the night! xx

Daisy155 · 31/01/2023 14:30

@PBandJs Good luck today so excited for you 💓🥰

winningeasy · 31/01/2023 14:36

@Daisy155 feeling your pain!

I managed some slices of roast beef, horseradish, tomato, cucumber and rocket earlier - had a slice of bread on side (I don't eat wheat so had rye bread which isn't great for the sandwiches I am craving) - I am really drawn to spicy food so adding the horseradish really helped

I also baked a tahini banana loaf with dark choc chips, it's quite high in protein as eggs and tahini, and no added sugar - so been munching on that

I also always have eggs for my breakfast, but cannot stomach it, so I had some yoghurt, seeds and some prunes

I do think constipation is playing a big part in why I feel like utter shit, so having prunes regularly is my strategy at the mo, hopefully it gets better

I am totally not craving hot drinks anymore . I had a glass of kombucha with ice first thing, really hit the spot and levelled me out a bit first thing, has a small amount of caffeine and good bacteria. I have the Equinox or Loving Foods ones which are pretty low in sugar - some fantastic flavours also

Tonight I am going to try baking some salmon, really don't fancy it but I need to use it, also hate waste so this is hard!!

Hope you feel better today x x

Ahh that's the date of my 12week scan 😀 exciting day for us both.
I'm the same with the nausea. In some ways I'm glad, but then I think being sick might make me feel better!

PCOSunfortunately · 31/01/2023 14:50

@Maraudingmarauders awww no way! You'll have to let me know how your 12 week scan goes!
Yes does the nausea ease? I feel like being sick would be a better option. I just keep eating plums, cherries and rich tea biscuits 🫣

Raizelrea · 31/01/2023 17:21

Oof, I feel you with the nausea ladies, the person I sit next to in the office brought in Subway for lunch, I had one wiff of it and jad to sprint to the loos!

northernmam · 31/01/2023 17:22

I've convinced my husband into booking an early scan 😊 it's for 17th of feb when I'll be 8 weeks exactly xx

Raizelrea · 31/01/2023 17:27

@northernmam That is so exciting! Sounds like the perfect time too, at 8 weeks you should be able to see a fair bit 😊

northernmam · 31/01/2023 17:30

@Raizelrea thank you! I'm hoping so and that's the reason I decided to wait a few more weeks 😊 I doubt I'll have seen the midwife by then either as I'm sure it was between 8 and 10 weeks both times before xx

Raizelrea · 31/01/2023 17:38

@northernmam That's good to know! I don't have a midwife appointment yet either, apparently I need to go in and see the GP to get referred according to my GP practice - was quite surprised as I know a lot of the people on the thread were able to self-refer.

northernmam · 31/01/2023 17:52

@Raizelrea ah it's the same at my GP, I had to ring up and they referred me on to the midwives but said it'd be a few weeks before I heard from them xx

PBandJs · 31/01/2023 18:47

Had our scan and it was really good. She said there’s definitely a pregnancy where it should be, baby measuring at 6+1 and had a really strong heartbeat 🥹
she did then ask me if I was aware I had a big cyst on my right ovary, which is actually 2 joined together measuring at just under 9cm 😦 I wasn’t so now worrying about that but she said to speak to my midwife once I get my appointment. Fingers crossed it’s ok 🤞🏼

PCOSunfortunately · 31/01/2023 19:24

@PBandJs over the moon that everything went okay and baby is in the right place! I have PCOS and I used to and still get pain so I think it's from the cysts. When you mentioned earlier about your pains and aches it could be your cyst and not the baby as such but I wouldn't worry too much 🥰

Maraudingmarauders · 31/01/2023 19:39

@PBandJs I'm so glad your scan went well! Interesting about your cysts, apparently they are super common so try not too worry too much.

@PCOSunfortunately I cursed myself.saying my nausea was better. We had to drive go a nearby town today and I spent the drive with my head in a doggy poo bag 😂as it's all I had to hand. Managed not to be sick, but god I felt rough.

PCOSunfortunately · 31/01/2023 19:51

@Maraudingmarauders oh god! The things we have to go through. I was doing the tea earlier and was heaving but I've been for a walk with the dog and the nauseas gone for abit 🤞 it's my birthday today and we haven't done anything. I usually go for a meal but everyone will question why I'm not drinking as I like my drink 🫣 specially as my sister in law is due in June. i just feel anxious because I just want to know everything's okay but I'm sacrificing a lot of social engagements and I don't know if everything will be okay if this makes sense I feel like I'm going to hibernate now until my 12 week scan 🤞 🙈

northernmam · 31/01/2023 19:53

@PBandJs so pleased your scan went well! I can imagine it is worrying to find out you have cysts, but I'm sure they will keep a close eye on you 😊 know it's easier said than done to try and relax xx

Iusedtobedontcall · 31/01/2023 20:04

@Purpleunicorn35 it started about 6 weeks but it’s worse this week. I think 9 weeks is the peak. Cannot wait to feel better.

Iusedtobedontcall · 31/01/2023 20:05

@PBandJs lovely news about the scan going well - it must be such a relief!

Daisy155 · 31/01/2023 21:34

@PBandJs that is amazing I am so happy that baby has a strong heartbeat and about the cyst I hope this issue will be resolved and I am sure you and baby will be more than fine 🥰💕

@PCOSunfortunately Happy Birthday 🎂 what a lovely way to start your birthday and you will get the chance to celebrate again the sacrifices we make are incredible! I am going to miss a lot of birthdays this year because I am keeping this pregnancy a secret from everyone until the baby is born I have already told everyone I am close to this year I need to focus on my health so they think that’s what I’m doing.

@northernmam good luck with the scan that’s also so exciting can’t wait for an update from you as well 🥰💕

@winningeasy I feel like we are literally going through the same things! I have just managed to make myself some brown rice and mushrooms and I wasn’t satisfied, so I decided to put some chilli and Jalapeños mixed together with the rice and I felt so much better!

I am really craving high carb and more spicy foods! I don’t even eat spicy food everyday but that’s what I want!

I actually love rye bread I will definitely try that and see if I can still stand it! But I know what you mean it won’t make those sandwiches that are filling!

I am also eating lots of dates, and crunchy peanut butter for constipation that seems to be working so well for the constipation, walking as well is helping I am making sure I get 20 to 45 mins walk everyday even though I want to be in bed all day!

For nausea the best thing I am finding is having small salty snacks in between meals I don’t know why but that’s helping! If I don’t have those salty snacks I feel so sick

water is making me gag and brushing my teeth 😫

I hope you feel much better tomorrow!💕 I’m hoping each day I wake up and I just eat normally at least one day 😅

Maraudingmarauders · 31/01/2023 21:41

@PCOSunfortunately happy birthday!

Hiding it is so hard. In the first 12 weeks ill have had a 30th birthday, two hen dos and a wedding. No idea how I'm supposed to cover for all those haha!

northernmam · 01/02/2023 06:33

Been up and down most of the night just couldn't sleep, and now I've got the most horrible nausea 🤢 my tummy feels like a washing machine. Forgot how rough morning sickness makes you feel! How's everyone else?
