5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Is anyone else just so fed up of nausea?

For me it's pretty constant. I'm 7 weeks now. I was given some medication from the doctor but it gave me really dry mouth and made me feel even worse. It's making me borderline depressed. Completely fed up of feeling sick and tired all the time Envy

100% - I can't wait to actually enjoy food again and to stop counting down until the next time I can go to sleep to get away from the nausea.... except the few occasions the nausea has dropped away I've panicked. So I whilst I hate it, in some ways it's my reassuring companion..
I'm just glad I'm not actually throwing up.

winningeasy · 30/01/2023 19:48

I'm feeling bloody terrible. 6+4

The nausea is constant. My appetite is completely gone. The only thing that appeals involves bread basically. I was eating so super healthy until last week.

The constipation is so so bad (prob making me feel worse), I think I need to eat a few prunes in the morning to get stuff moving quicker.

My mood is very low. Then I feel guilty for not being more grateful. I think it's worsened by my 1 year old being poorly, she was up about 10 times in the night and projectile vomited on me at 3am, finally down for a couple of hours at 5am.
And then my nanny has covid so I have to look after her all day as well, and take day off work.

So tired 😴

Raizelrea · 30/01/2023 20:01

@suz2285 I wonder if it's a weekend thing - I definitely noticed I feel less nauseous on a weekend when I can chill and snack whenever I want as opposed to when working. Let me know how the ginger and peppermint sweets are!

@colourPink Thank you very much! And how exciting about your scan this weekend, I bet you're counting down the days (I know I am till mine haha) - I hope it goes really well!

@Daisy155 Aww that's very kind of you to say, thank you so much! Washing powder is an interesting one! I did notice I'm a bit queasy around the wasking machine but I don't think it's the powder as such, more so the washing water residue. Yay for your booking appointment tomorrow, sounds like you've got such an exciting week! Definitely keep as posted, I have no idea what to expect 😊

@northernmam I'd definitely book an early scan, 12 weeks seems like such a long time! I'm lucky that I do get an viability scan at 7 weeks on the NHS (not sure if it's because of my infertility history or because of my previous losses, but either way I jumped on the chance when they offered), but if that wasn't the case I'd get a private one for sure!

Yeah I'm the same. A lot of toast, toast and jam, cheese sandwiches. Pasta and cheese.

I used to really enjoy work and my 8 year old and now everything is such an effort.

I really hope this is just the first trimester. Never had this with my first pregnancy.

No one told me pregnancies could be so different!

I'd quite like to go to sleep for a few weeks and wake up when the nausea is gone.

Laul89 · 30/01/2023 21:17

Hi everyone! Just catching up on this thread.. hope everyone is doing well & those that are suffering with symptoms feel better soon 🥰

My symptoms mainly involve sore boobs and headaches on and off, finding it quite hard to focus at work! Been more tired. But no food aversions/cravings or sickness. Also I was quite dizzy/lightheaded last night even when I was still.. not sure if it’s cos I’m not drinking enough.. I’m quite a bad water drinker anyway so trying to be better!!

I think we are going to hold off and book our private scan for around 19th Feb when I’ll be almost 9 weeks.. as we are away next weekend and I think this weekend is too soon as I’ll just panic if they don’t see anything & tell us to come back 🥺 I never really considered an early scan but I think I just need someone to confirm there is something in there 🤣 even done another test yday which was a complete dye stealer 🥰 but just feels so surreal!

HattieRosa · 30/01/2023 21:25

Hi everyone!

I've made a Facebook group for Due September's.... its totally private and hidden.

Right so I couldn't think of a cute name so I've called it September Drinks 🤣🤣 because (apart from baby) that's what I'll be looking forward to.

Link is:

fb.me/g/p_KRbZRiYr5RiD6JcQ/kV748Tfp?ref=share

It'll only let 20 people join at a time, so if it doesn't work for you, tag me here and I'll get a new link.

Some of the ladies on the other group thought it would be easier to communicate on there.

Go back to your GP and ask for different medication until it works for you. You shouldn't feel like this. Even a little white lie that it isn't stopping the sickness. Is it cyclizine?

Purpleunicorn35 · 30/01/2023 22:25

It's prochlorperazine.

If anyone can recommend a better anti sickness I'd be grateful although the side effects must ca vary from person to person

northernmam · 30/01/2023 22:29

@Raizelrea it really does feel like such a long time to wait until 12 weeks, especially when I found out 2 weeks ago tomorrow that I'm pregnant 😂 I'll see if my husband gives in and comes round to the idea of an early scan.

Metoclopomide is another that is good.

suz2285 · 31/01/2023 06:13

@HattieRosa can we get another link that one says expired now, thank you 😀

HattieRosa · 31/01/2023 07:05

@ssuz2285

Here is a new link for the group as the other one expired.

If anyone else wants to join and can't, just let me know, and I'll post another link again.

suz2285 · 31/01/2023 07:06

Thanks! Just requested to join 😀 very quick response, are you up early too? Haha

Iusedtobedontcall · 31/01/2023 07:17

I’ve requested to join too.
My mood is low with the constant nausea. It’s just so draining and has sucked all the joy out of everything. I’m 9 weeks 1 day now so hoping I’ve not long to go with it.

suz2285 · 31/01/2023 07:19

@Iusedtobedontcall oh no I'm sorry you're feeling so rubbish, I'm slightly terrified mine is away to get a lot worse as I'm a few weeks behind you! 🙈 fingers crossed it gets better soon...

I've stocked up on sweeties and tablets for nausea but holding off using anything unless it's really bad! Hang in there!

When did yours start? I'd say mine started at 5 weeks and now on 7.

HattieRosa · 31/01/2023 07:33

@susuz2285 I'm up and ready for work! Got to be there at 8.30 😭

Raizelrea · 31/01/2023 07:54

@northernmam Sounds like we found out on the same day! 😊 Happy 2 week pee stick anniversary haha

PCOSunfortunately · 31/01/2023 08:28

Morning everyone,

@northernmam if you want an early scan then I would definitely have one just to put your mind at rest 🥰 the men don't understand!

I had terrible nausea last night 6+4 I didn't even brush my teeth because I thought I'm just going to heave so I went to bed to sleep it off. I've woke up and thankfully worryingly it's gone. I think I could be one that suffers with it on the night! Im so tired today though. Working from home and could easily just go back to bed! xx

northernmam · 31/01/2023 08:37

@Raizelrea haha love this 😂

@PCOSunfortunately I'm definitely going to try and convince him!

Maraudingmarauders · 31/01/2023 08:58

Sorry to hear you're suffering so much @PCOSunfortunately I found week 6 the worst for constant nausea. At least now I can usually abate it with food! Are you actually being sick?

I had the dreaded insomnia the last two nights. I'm dead on my feet.

Daisy155 · 31/01/2023 09:04

@winningeasy this is it! I was also eating super healthy and all I want is brown bread, I don’t even like cheese or mayonnaise and I had to get it! I eat 4 sandwiches yesterday 😬😫

I love fresh foods especially spinach and I have green smoothies throughout the day, now when I think of it I feel sick. I like cooking with coconut oil rather than olive oil and now the smell of coconut oil makes me sick

my go to breakfast is eggs or mushrooms and lots of salads! Not now I wake up and I want rice or potatoes in the morning or bread!

Everything salty I want, I tried to trick myself with olives and I enjoyed that with pickles together or else I was going to buy fried chicken! I rarely eat fried chicken and that’s what I want to eat!

I can’t wait for my normal appetite to return and also sorry to hear of your little one being ill 💕 I hope they get better soon so you can also rest x

PBandJs · 31/01/2023 11:16

We’ve got our early scan this evening but I’m only 6 weeks. I know it’s unlikely we’ll be able to see much but it was mostly booked for reassurance that everything has settled in the right place and my anxiety wouldn’t let me wait a day longer 😬

I felt ok and quite excited about it until last night then today my brain has just been all over the place. I’m terrified 😩 but equally know that if I didn’t do it I’d be as anxious.

Just keeping everything crossed it’s good news 🤞🏼

hope everyone has a good day x

northernmam · 31/01/2023 11:57

@PBandJs will keep everything crossed for you and I'm sure everything will be okay 😊 let us know how you get on xx
