5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Good morning, I am at the early scan and I am feeling so nervous for some reason I wasn’t this past 10 days since the last one, now I am sitting here scared last time they didn’t see anything but yolk sac and she wasn’t too fussed but said she had to see me very soon to see the fetal pole and baby’s heart beat.

I will update you all very soon I am next xx

Tinkerbell098 · 30/01/2023 09:22

@Daisy155 all the best for your scan. Keeping everything crossed for you X

suz2285 · 30/01/2023 09:24

@Daisy155 good luck, hope everything is fine! Let us know

How's everyone else doing? I've got some worsening nausea again this morning, and dizziness a little bit if I get up too fast or during yoga! But good apart from that!

Daisy155 · 30/01/2023 10:07

Thank you all @Tinkerbell098 and @suz2285 we saw the baby and the baby’s heartbeat!! I was with my bereavement midwife we just both started crying!!

today is the happiest day of my life after what happened to us last year!! I have had strong
symptoms like nausea etc so I thought why would they not see the baby!!

I am so grateful to be here again and so soon 🥹

suz2285 · 30/01/2023 10:09

@Daisy155 that's so amazing! So happy for you!! Yey!

This is my first try at being pregnant but im terrified of anything being wrong as well, no reason to think anything is but just you read so many statistics and me and my husband are both a bit older

I want to book in for an early scan but it's so scary! Then I just wonder if I should just wait, even though neither option changes any outcome!

So glad everything is ok with baby

PCOSunfortunately · 30/01/2023 10:29

@Daisy155 oh that's lovely news!! So over the moon for you 💖💖 how far gone are you now? xx

Daisy155 · 30/01/2023 11:04

@suz2285 thank you so much 💕 and I completely understand what you mean about worrying congratulations as well it’s your first!

Tbh no matter what I think we all worry about all the statistics but you have to be positive! The number one thing that can affect baby and you is stress and if you want an early scan why not I think it’s a good idea and yes it may never change anything but gives you a peace of mind for a while! And I think it’s a good thing you are on here with my first I didn’t join any groups etc and I just worried by myself never again ♥️

@PCOSunfortunately aww thank you so much btw I saw we were both in a group that got updated today the TWW from last year! So happy to see us both on here! The baby is measuring 7 weeks I ovulated very late I believe! And the heartbeat she said looked very good so I am glad all is ok! Just need to sort out these cravings

How are you today?? Xx

Raizelrea · 30/01/2023 11:37

Hi everyone, is there room for one more? I'm 5+3 (I think) and this would be my first child. We've struggled with infertility for nearly 4 years and I had two IVF transfers last year, both of which resulted in early miscarriages/chemicals.

I was supposed to ring up on the first day of my January/February period to start medication for another IVF transfer, but my period never arrived. Neddless to say we were in utter shock (never seen a positive test until IVF) and over the moon that we somehow got pregnant naturally, but my anxiety is through the roof, so I would love to join this lovely supportive group!

Bubblemachiene · 30/01/2023 11:57

Congratulations that's lovely @Daisy155
How many weeks we're you for your first scan? I'm wondering whether to wait a bit as il be worries if they can only see a sack .

suz2285 · 30/01/2023 12:09

@Raizelrea welcome! Please join... I'm exact same dates as you also 5+3 today (again I think!) but we were tracking so I think it's accurate!

Wow that's amazing about your pregnancy! Such good news, weirdly I've heard of a few people that has happened to and they've managed to go onto have an unassisted conception! How are you feeling?

@Bubblemachiene I've read that it's better to try and wait till 8 weeks if you want a decent early scan just incase the dates are out. But most places recommend 6-7 weeks, I think the issue is if you go at 6 weeks and you're actually 5 weeks they don't see much so it's better to wait slightly longer

Bubblemachiene · 30/01/2023 12:11

Ah yea that's wat I'm thinking
@suz2285 I'm 6.1 today,
Might go next week if they have any offers on next week x

suz2285 · 30/01/2023 12:14

@Bubblemachiene that sounds like a good plan! Honestly how the weeks manage to make themselves even longer than they were before! Crazy... it feels like every day is a drag just waiting to know things or be 'safe'

I've feel better the last few days slightly less anxious so fingers crossed that continues! Still terrified to actually go and have a scan and confirm one way or another it's like Schrödingers cat right now!

I'm a few weeks away from being able to book a scan so need to just hold on for a bit!

Raizelrea · 30/01/2023 13:03

@suz2285 Thank you very much! I bet your dates are far more accurate - we did no tracking whatsoever so I'm just going off my last period. I feel like my symptoms fluctuate loads, some days I'm really nauseous or completely exhausted (I spent an embarrasing amount of Sunday just napping haha), and some days I feel pretty much fine, which of course makes me paranoid 😆 What about you?

@Daisy155 Congratulations on your scan today, you must be elated!

suz2285 · 30/01/2023 13:09

@Raizelrea mainly nausea for me, and massive sore boobs! Haha... but on Saturday the nausea wasn't so bad, today it's back worse again so they're definitely fluctuating! I had headaches last week and sore eyes but this week ok so far!

I've not been sleeping well either which is unlike me, keep waking up middle of the night and struggling to sleep again, or just being generally wide awake when I don't want to be! So I had a nap on Sunday too! Tbh my bed has felt especially comfy recently so I'm just trying to enjoy that

I also feel like my daily walks are a bit more effort than usual! Feel like I'm dragging myself round sometimes...

I'm also not loving the hot drinks at the mo, but really wanting to only drink super cold things! How strange

It's just a wonderful magical time isn't it...

Raizelrea · 30/01/2023 13:26

@suz2285 I heard the sore boobs are really common! Mine feel completely normal but I noticed this morning that I can't fit in my sports bra ha. Oh yes, the insomnia is real, but I'm a terrible sleeper in general so I feel like that's fairly normal for me.

That's interesting about the hot drinks - the smell of coffee does make me gag now. I do have a lot of weird food aversions at the moment, all I want to eat is grapes (which normally I'm not a fan of at all). It's tricky with the nasea isn't it, when you're feeling it you just want to feel better and when you're not you want it to come back 😆

suz2285 · 30/01/2023 13:30

@Raizelrea yeah mine are heavy and bigger already, hurts to jiggle around 🤣 wore 2 sports bras when I ran last week and that was ok! But if I'm braless in the house I have to hold them if I move too much! So funny how everyone gets slightly different symptoms!

I know what you mean, the day I felt better at the weekend I was like omg is everything ok I don't feel sick right now, but maybe I'll just get used to it coming and going, this morning was not fun but I feel better now so fingers crossed

I did order some ginger and peppermint sweets online for morning sickness so I'm waiting for those to arrive but if it becomes actual vomiting all the time I'll be bringing out the actual tablets! I'm trying to hold of taking anything I don't need as much as possible... but needs must if I have to function

My brain is not at full capacity, I'm going to have to be more careful on my commute for sure!

colourPink · 30/01/2023 16:56

@Raizelrea congratulations on your pregnancy! What amazing news!

@Daisy155 - so glad you're scan went well! I have mine booked for Sunday when I'll be 8 weeks exactly (I think). It sounds stupid but I just need to know something is in there!

So far pregnancy symptoms are minimal - boobs have been sore on and off. I'm SOOOO tired but otherwise I've been fine! Sleeping/appetite as normal and no sickness 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Daisy155 · 30/01/2023 17:21

Thank you all yes it’s really good to find out I think Everyone should get an early scan just in case!!

@Bubblemachiene I was 5 weeks and 2 days the first time they saw me that’s what the Yolk sac and Gestational sack but today baby measured 7 weeks some people see the heart beat by 8 weeks minimum I have heard from the midwife last time I went and they couldn’t see heartbeat but thankfully it the heartbeat was there! Good luck with your scan if you do go in the next coming weeks you got this and baby will be more than ok 💕

@Raizelrea aww congratulation sounds so amazing I hope your journey is going to go smoothly this is amazing especially after what you have been through it’s meant to be 🥰 and I am with you the smell of coffee is making me gag as well I can’t stand it and also washing powder those 2 smells I am looking for a washing powder that smells of absolutely nothing!

@colourPink thank you so much 😄 and good luck with the scan on Sunday please keep us updated and yes it’s just that need to know isn’t it!! I hope it all goes very well for you as well, I came back from the doctors and literally fell asleep until I had to pick up my son from school! I still woke up really tired and I can’t afford to do this because I have started a new course and have so much homework 📚 to do and the course is so hard I don’t know if it’s pregnancy tiredness or it’s just actually really hard 😂

I have my first midwife appointment tomorrow at 7 weeks 1 day as they need to monitor the baby now they know there is a heartbeat! I will keep you all updated tomorrow if anything interesting is mentioned xxx

PCOSunfortunately · 30/01/2023 18:02

@Daisy155 so so pleased for you! You definitely deserve it! Oh yes we are! I haven't commented for ages on there! Go us that's wonderful news that we got promoted to this thread 🥰 hope you can sort your cravings out.

@colourPink wishing you lots of love for your scan please keep us updated 🥰 love to hear your stories. Think we're booking a private one in 2 weeks time I will be around 8 weeks then.
I also don't have too many symptoms although I feel nauseous but not majorly and once I talk my self to eat I feel fine. But my boobs are sore and heavy and I get headaches but I've always suffered headaches 👎🏻

We can all be anxious together ❤️ can't wait to see everyone's 12 week scan 🤞

Maraudingmarauders · 30/01/2023 19:12

Good luck for upcoming scans, I've got my private one Saturday, very nervous!

@suz2285 that's so weird about hot drinks, I've been the same! I normally drinks tons of decaf tea and hot chocolates and now all I want is ice water or fruit juice. I went to a coffee shop with DH the other day and ended up with a kids fruit carton the other day as it was all I wanted 😂

northernmam · 30/01/2023 19:14

Would people recommend early scans? I had a private scan at 16 weeks with my little girl so we could have a peek and find out her gender between the 12 and 20 week one.

I've mentioned having a reassurance scan in the next few weeks (I'll be 6 weeks on Friday) but my husband doesn't think we should and should just wait for the 12 week scan.

suz2285 · 30/01/2023 19:17

@Maraudingmarauders so weird isn't it! My husband made me a cuppa at his folks the other day and I had to discretely throw it in the sink while no one was looking! Morning I can do one cup on an empty tummy but after that I just need the cold drinks! It's so bizarre!

Good luck with your scan! So excited with everyone's scans, I'm a few weeks behind most people!

@northernmam I mentioned an early scan to my husband too and he just said see how you feel in a few weeks 😂 which I will, but they're not growing a human inside them, it's a totally different experience for us, one which my husband is super glad he isn't experiencing right now! I'm not sure he's even convinced there's anything in there right now! Even after 3 tests!

northernmam · 30/01/2023 19:20

@suz2285 I totally agree with you! They don't really get where we're coming from because it's not them experiencing it first hand. I think I'm wanting it more because up to now, I've had no morning sickness and just got that little bit of niggling anxiety over it.

suz2285 · 30/01/2023 19:22

@northernmam for sure! Do what you think is best.... tbh I've got the nausea and a bunch of other stuff and I'm still finding it hard to believe all is ok and baby is growing etc! I think I might just have to get used to not knowing everything, I'm a control freak hahah

northernmam · 30/01/2023 19:26

@suz2285 I have other symptoms such as sore boobs, tiredness, insomnia, vivid dreams, uncontrollable hunger and bloating but have never not had morning sickness before so it's a strange feeling!
