5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Haha @Maraudingmarauders I thought the same, gonna be so so hot but then we'll have tiny little babies for Christmas! I used to wonder why people didn't plan things better when they had Christmas babies but now I realise it's just happens when it happens huh

@northernmam I've had nausea quite badly already, along with headaches and terrible boob ache! Then yesterday I felt kinda ok no nausea at all, today I'm feeling a bit nauseous again

I'm prone to nausea and stomach issues though so I guess it just depends! Also I'm not hungry at all, forcing myself to eat some days at the moment cos I'm not hungry! But also off my cups of tea, not a fan of hot drinks right now, not interested in sweet things but quite into tomatoes! How strange 😂

suz2285 · 28/01/2023 17:26

@mummmmyj angry sweaty gammon 😂 so true, and hilarious!

Anyone else got insomnia? I either can't get to sleep or I'm wide awake when I wake up like today at 4am! Just managed a wee nap so hope that helps!

northernmam · 28/01/2023 17:28

@suz2285 it's really good to hear how different people are experiencing these early weeks 😊 this is the first pregnancy where I haven't felt sick (yet) and have actually wanted to eat so early on! In my previous two pregnancies, I had a huge aversion to chicken, but grilled chicken wraps are all I want at the minute 😂

I've also had sore nipples this time, whereas before it's been just the whole boob in general. Sorry, probably too much information 😂

Hope the nausea isn't too bad for you going forward xx

Yes to the insomnia! It's usually about 2:30 I start to toss and turn and then from about half 4, that's me up for the day 😩 xx

suz2285 · 28/01/2023 17:30

@northernmam nothings too much info I don't think 😂 funny how everyone is so different symptom wise!

My whole boobs feel so heavy and I've got like tingly shooting pains in the nipples sometimes! I've heard people mention that before but yeah it's crazy how different it can be even between different pregnancies

No wonder we're all wondering what is going on, and if everything is ok!

mummmmyj · 28/01/2023 17:51

@suz2285 YESSSS to the insomnia! DS treated us to a 7am wake up today but I’d been awake since 4AM. I remember having it last time and it did ease off but I can’t remember when, it’s so so annoying. I have no other symptoms just yet so shouldn’t complain but I miss waking up at a reasonable hour!

suz2285 · 28/01/2023 17:53

Evolution wise what purpose does insomnia serve? I mean aren't we meant to be getting rest? Or is it incase a wildebeest attacks our cave at night and we have to be alert to protect the offspring?

Apparently lack of appetite and nausea is incase we ingest any toxins 😂

northernmam · 28/01/2023 18:16

It's nuts how things can be so different for different people! I really hope the insomnia eases up soon, I already feel really tired come tea time anyway 😩

Laul89 · 28/01/2023 18:18

@PCOSunfortunately bet you’re glad the secrets out.. well done for keeping it that long, not sure how you did it! 🤣

Sweaty little gammon made me laugh! My friend had her baby last September so was heavily pregnant in the summer.. there’s a photo of her in the garden, rubbing suncream onto her big bump with her feet in a paddling pool 🤣

Symptoms wise I feel mine come and go. Boobs are usually more sore at night time but today they’ve been KILLING and my bra feels tight. Crampy/twinges now & again. No insomnia which I’m glad about.. I had vivid dreams before I found out but they seem to have tailed off now. No sickness/nausea, feeling very hungry today but I heave heartburn from time to time aswell! Funny how different we all are ☺️ x

mummmmyj · 28/01/2023 18:31

@suz2285 they say insomnia is to prepare you for when the baby comes.. I had more sleep with a newborn than the third trimester cos the insomnia came back with a vengeance so that’s a load of sh*t 😂

suz2285 · 28/01/2023 18:46

@mummmmyj haha yeah well I need my sleep, I cannot function on less than 8-10 hours so this should be fun! You know what happens when I don't sleep, I feel nauseous 😂 so that's just great! Haha they say you get used to it so here's hoping!

Iusedtobedontcall · 28/01/2023 19:32

Hi all - can I join? My EDD is September 4th, based both on my LMP and an early scan on Thursday which showed a strong heartbeat and was a huge relief! I had a MMC in July so it’s been an anxious time.

suz2285 · 28/01/2023 19:41

Welcome @Iusedtobedontcall course you can join!

How exciting about your scan! I'm still debating booking in for an early one but if we're still ok in a few weeks I might do! See how I feel... I'm not due till the very end of sept so you're a few weeks infront of me

How have you been feeling?

Iusedtobedontcall · 28/01/2023 19:50

Thank you for the welcome @suz2285 . I am glad I had the scan and waiting till 8 weeks was good as I could see lots.

I am feeling awful! Constantly nauseous at the moment and really struggling at work. Hopefully just a few more weeks of this. It will be worth it.

northernmam · 28/01/2023 19:51

Hello @Iusedtobedontcall so lovely to hear your scan has gone well and very sorry about your previous loss, absolutely heartbreaking 💔 wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy xx

Daisy155 · 28/01/2023 20:58

welcome @Iusedtobedontcall congratulations to you, so sorry to hear of your loss!! ♥️

I think the insominia is preparing us for the sleepless nights after our babies are here lol

Ladies today I have been SUPER hungry! We went out we were meant to go to a Vietnamese restaurant as I was craving that and then we passed by Naxos instead I had a burger and broccoli and peas I thought I am done!

We went about our day out as a family and literally an hour later I was starving. Thankfully my 6yo son was tired and then we passed by a Japanese restaurant!

I got some chicken strips with curry source as a take away, I was about to have noodles but I thought I need to stop my self!

I eat the chicken and as we got
inside the house I was starving I wanted to eat bread, eggs and Jalapeños mixed with ketchup and cheese!

I don’t even eat unhealthy foods like this because of my health issues, I am literally not allowed to over indulge.

So hubby was like I will make you something healthy and he had to make sweet potatoes and spinach for dinner! I am so upset all I want is deep fried food with lots of sauce and chilli 🌶️ :/

I can’t stop eating! :/

Maraudingmarauders · 29/01/2023 08:46

@Daisy155 that sounds so frustrating. Can you make healthy alternatives of the things you are craving?

@Iusedtobedontcall welcome and congratulations! Sorry to hear about your previous loss. My EDD is 3rd of September and very similar symptoms to you so far.

I've finally given in and booked an early scan. It's next Saturday which will make me (supposedly) 9+6. Then my 12 week dating scan is on 22nd Feb. So just over the advised 14day gap between ultrasounds. Really crossing my fingers for a strong heartbeat. I'm so nauseous and uncomfortable I feel something must be going on in there but I finally decided I couldn't wait much longer.

Sorry if too intimate, but how are you ladies feeling regarding sex? We haven't dtd since I found out 2 weeks ago. DH doesn't push at all, but I know he's worrying I'm going to be out of action for the whole pregnancy 😅I just have absolutely zero drive, but I'm blaming that on the constant sickness feeling!

FarmBaby3 · 29/01/2023 09:18

@Maraudingmarauders

Iusedtobedontcall · 29/01/2023 09:50

Morning all.
@Daisy155 I have been wanting to eat lots of unhealthy food too, but then it makes me feel sick so I’m my own worst enemy!

@Maraudingmarauders I have gone off sex. The constant nausea doesn’t really put you in the mood! My dating scan is two days before yours on the 20th, when I’ll be 12 weeks exactly.

FarmBaby3 · 29/01/2023 09:53

@Maraudingmarauders hit send before I meant to. I'm the same as you. I'm actually struggling with any physical contact with aching boobs and the excessive physical contact from my other two kids.

mynewname25 · 29/01/2023 10:13

Yeah @northernmam i have booking in appt on 21st feb and 12 week scan booked for 15th march.

feels ages away!!

sore boobs are back with a vengeance today so feeling more optimistic again.

I wish the NHS offered a 6 week scan as well as a 12 week one :-D

Daisy155 · 29/01/2023 12:06

Thank you @Iusedtobedontcall and @Maraudingmarauders definitely checking if something is missing in my food that I am having these huge cravings and eating habits.

@Maraudingmarauders good luck with the scan I have my second early scan with the NHS tomorrow and the first one was 10 days ago but it was too early they are hoping to see a heartbeat and fetal pole tomorrow as last time it was just the YS and GS! I think it’s going to be ok because of all these crazy symptoms!

As long as you have all those nausea symptoms etc I think you are right something is going on in there! I am trying not to worry because whatever will be will be! But I am positive everything is fine!

And as for sex I am completely off, my hubby on the other hand not so much but he is respectful of that I just don’t feel like it! I told him you already did what we needed lol 😂 your job is done for now! But it always picks up a lot again after the first trimester! At the moment dealing with all these symptoms!

@mynewname25 I really think they should offer 6 weeks scans then 12 weeks to everyone the wait for 12 weeks is so long I remember my last pregnancy I just wanted to know what was happening because I didn’t have many pregnancy symptoms!

PCOSunfortunately · 29/01/2023 13:31

I'm back from our weekend away and I'm not sure if it's because we've been doing stuff but I'm shattered!! So so tired today 😕 I've also been feeling slightly more nauseous this morning but nothing a bacon sandwich can't sort! We've been to a lodge with the in laws so I've had 1 and half glasses of Buck's Fizz and a single gin and lemonade with my meal yesterday the whole weekend but I only drank a quarter of it my partner had the rest. Once we moved onto another pub I could sneakily ask for alcohol free and the pink gin alcohol free is beautiful if you've not tried it and like gin!
It's been a tough one but I couldn't not drink when you're so confined together without suspicions 🙈

Congratulations to the new comers even though you're ahead of me 🥰

As for the sex question no no no. I'm scared I'll have it and then bleed and dislodge something. It's took me 19 months and 4 rounds of clomid I know I had a drink but I just couldn't get round it 🙈

Hibernating now till march 🤣🫣

Daisy155 · 29/01/2023 15:38

I am with you on that @PCOSunfortunately 😩😂 just in case, when I had the internal scan the next day I was spotting and I told hubby you see this is why we can’t do it!

Not doing anything until second trimester!

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend sorry to hear that you are now feeling really tired!!

Maraudingmarauders · 29/01/2023 20:00

@PCOSunfortunately I wouldn't worry about the booze. I drank a skinful at new year's because I'd tested negative! Plenty do in the first few months, so long as we refrain as much as possible now it's not worth beating yourself up over!
