5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@JenfaK congratulations and welcome! We are the closest on the thread I think EDD for me is 3rd September, although hopefully get a better idea for scan. My first one is booked for 22nd February. Feels both soon and an age away.
Nosebleeds being a thing, who knew?! You learn something new every day. I suppose it makes sense especially if you are susceptible to them as our blood volume increases dramatically.
I've not had issues with dreams though a friend said it was her main symptom!

My main symptom this morning is hunger 😂still feeling vaguely sick but the nausea seems worse as the day goes on (I think because I get bloated). But today I'm just ravenous. I've eaten my packed lunch at my desk by 10am and my boss is in so can't even escape to the shop until my proper lunch time (normally no one minds if we dash to the shop). Still got a few cramps.
I'd love to get to the point that I'm not dreading blood ever time i wipe!

@Bubblemachiene I'd go for that, it's a good deal. At worst you've wasted £22! I'd like to do one but around here it see to be about £70/80 and I just can't really justify it with all ou holiday etc expenses next month, and we've just run out of oil. Nightmare everything comes at once! We've got a good income but also some debt from house renovations so focus now is on paying that off before baby arrives!

NessiSD · 27/01/2023 14:13

I just booked myself in for a private scan on the 20 Feb which would just be after 8 weeks. The lady on the phone said they get so many people booking in 😂 luckily it's not far from work as I could only get a booking around lunchtime.

This was the first time in 2 weeks I managed to sleep through the night with no dreams (or none worth remembering). I hated my alarm going off this morning! Really looking forward to catching up this weekend. But yeah, the weird dreams have been exhausting! I've also had to check in with my partner to see if they weren't real 😅

Daisy155 · 27/01/2023 15:26

Right @NessiSD I am also looking forward to the weekend hopefully I can rest and sleep better!

Anyone feeling extremely annoyed by everything? I am having mood swings today I don’t know where it’s coming from, I feel sorry for my family I am so annoyed by everything the past 2 days but it’s getting worse! And I am usually really happy person!

HattieRosa · 27/01/2023 15:43

Anyone here got any cures for insomnia? I'm struggling so badly and finding it really hard with work and morning sickness. Also been having the most bizarre vivid dreams!

northernmam · 27/01/2023 16:33

@HattieRosa I would love some tips for the sleep thing too! And I'm hoping the vivid dreams start to ease, they're not pleasant!

winningeasy · 27/01/2023 16:50

@HattieRosa Pukka Nighttime tea helps I think.
Calm app also have meditations for sleep and also pregnancy
Also have a shakti mat which I lie on before bed which is supposed to calm nervous system x

suz2285 · 27/01/2023 16:57

I'm taking magnesium glycinate at nights for sleep, I have done for a few years and find it helps, research suggests it's also good for a number of other pregnancy related outcomes but obviously check with your own healthcare people etc

@NessiSD I'm not surprised loads of people are booking in! 12 weeks seems like such a long time to wait to check all is ok!

colourPink · 27/01/2023 17:32

@Bubblemachiene £22 for a private scan? That's amazing! We have one booked for next Sunday (5th Feb) when I'll be 7+6 and it's £80! Personally, I really want one. I just need to see that something is actually there 🤣

The sore boobs stopped a few days ago for me and I feel relatively okay just really tired - but then being a teacher I always feel tired so not sure if it's the pregnancy or just my job 🤣

Had to have some bloods today (took 5 attempts!) and I've learnt my veins are rubbish and just collapse/ or burst. My nephew has shingles so they want to double check I have chicken pox antibodies in my system.

Feeling sorry for myself after my traumatic blood morning - feeling super bruised and prodded! The rest of pregnancy will be fun 🤣 takeaway and a chilled evening for me!

Maraudingmarauders · 27/01/2023 18:38

@colourPink that looks so sore!!

winningeasy · 27/01/2023 19:00

@HattieRosa Epsom salts baths also for absorption of magnesium which helps muscles relax and is a nice wind down

Bubblemachiene · 27/01/2023 19:22

Yep it's supposed to be £44 for a 2d but they often have mid week offers and this week it was half price, shame I'm too early so hoping the offer is on next week or week after. There's others local one is £65 and other is £80 so not sure why this one is so cheap @colourPink

HattieRosa · 28/01/2023 07:25

@winningeasy thanks for the advice. I took a bath with Epsom salts last night and found a rain sounds generator on my phone. It's the first night I slept all the way through for weeks, still vivid dreams, though! It's so weird, but I guess it's just the way my body is preparing myself for new situations.

Hopefully you get someone different to do your bloods next time. It really can be a huge difference having a different person.

Gymbelle · 28/01/2023 12:25

@HattieRosa the dreams are just crazy! It was my first symptom and still going strong!

Maraudingmarauders · 28/01/2023 12:46

I've just realised we've planned this all wrong 😂my good friend is due in April so she's been dressing herself and bump in lovely warm jumpers etc. All being well we will all be 6-9momths pregnant in the heat of the summer in 32°c if the last few years have been anything to go by 😅

PCOSunfortunately · 28/01/2023 13:23

@Maraudingmarauders all being well! I know we will be soooo hot 🥵 but can't wait to wear cute summer dresses with a bump 🥰 my partner knows now we both cried but glad i can talk about it now to someone been keeping it a secret for two weeks 🫣 hope everyone's okay 👍🏻 xxx

northernmam · 28/01/2023 13:27

I'm struggling today with dull aches, things must be starting to stretch 😊 Running round after a 6 and 1 year old probably isn't helping either 😂

Is anyone else not experiencing any nausea yet? I haven't had any up to now and just feel hungry constantly.

NessiSD · 28/01/2023 13:28

@Maraudingmarauders I thought about this the other day as well. My Mum told me I was also born during a heatwave in the 90s, might explain why I don't like the weather above 30°C 😂 and our flat was horrendous last summer!

PCOSunfortunately · 28/01/2023 13:34

@northernmam me to I'm quite constipated again 🙈 but I can feel aches in stomach and my back on and off. Yep no nausea we'll I get a bit nauseous but I eat and it goes. But yeah same I just wanna eat all the time 😳

northernmam · 28/01/2023 13:36

Yes that's exactly what my aches are like too. By this point in my 2 other pregnancies I either felt very sick or was being sick throughout the day, so this is a new experience altogether! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that constipation doesn't show up either as that's been awful both times previously too. It's good to know we're not alone in how we're feeling xx

PCOSunfortunately · 28/01/2023 14:49

@northernmam that's what scares me the fact I'm not feeling that sick yet. Really hope it's ok and not a bad sign 👍🏻

northernmam · 28/01/2023 15:03

@PCOSunfortunately try not to worry too much, easier said than done I know! But every pregnancy is different. My mam went through her entire pregnancy with me, and didn't get any sickness. I think the fact you've got twinges and constipation are signs your hormones are doing what they need to 😊

mummmmyj · 28/01/2023 16:07

@Maraudingmarauders I had DS1 in May and I’d rather be hot and sweaty pregnant than trying to keep a newborn who’s basically a hot, angry and sweaty little gammon cool 😂 Also means can hide in leggings and jumpers postpartum.. I struggled with my body confidence after DS1 so I’m hoping the cold weather this time means I can stay a little covered rather than little dresses! Although I’ve realised none of the clothes I’ve saved (baby and maternity) are going to be the right season / age.. terrible planning by me!

mynewname25 · 28/01/2023 17:20

Hi everyone, just checking in.

@'Northernmam' are your other DC the same sex?

I have 2 girls and was quite sick with both.

Im 5+5 today and not much in the way of symptoms. my boobs were agony but its eased off so im a little worried. I also only got a 2-3 weeks on a pregnacare test yesterday, I was expecting a 3+.

Hopefully be ok, cant wait to get to the private scan. booked for 21st feb xx

northernmam · 28/01/2023 17:23

@mynewname25 Hi 😊 no, my 6 year old is a boy and 1 year old a girl. I was vomiting till I was about 19 weeks with my little girl and just felt nauseous daily with my little boy, but was never actually sick.

Ah try your best not to worry too much, I've read stuff on here about the tests showing up the number of weeks, depending on how dilute your urine and stuff is. I know it's so much easier said than done to not worry though! Have you heard from your midwife yet? I've been referred by my GP, but no date for a booking in appointment yet xx
