Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@colourPink @Laul89 @Banditrules @Daisy155 congratulations too! Sending you and everyone else on here positive vibes and big hugs 💕

Maybe I have to do self referral because I'm in London 🤔 it all seems to be self referral when I just did a search.

Please keep us updated with your first scans! I didn't know you could do private ones, I am tempted after finding one really close to me. It says you can book in from 6 weeks...

Much love xx

I did a self referral in Cumbria - I asked the GP how to do it when I was discussing my medication, and he didn't know...

I think it just depends on your trust, there's a list of services that offer self referral on the NHS website 😊

colourPink · 26/01/2023 06:12

@NessiSD co granulations to you too!

I just googled "private scans near me" and they're loads of them! We're going around 8 weeks so we have more of a chance of seeing something 🙂

colourPink · 26/01/2023 06:15

@Laul89 I'm the same! Not sure how many weeks I really am as flo says 6+4 and the midwives are saying 6+ weeks but all the online calculators and my bounty app say 5+4 as my cycle averages out at 34 days.

Odd though as flo knows my cycle length! I suppose the private scan will confirm 🙊

PCOSunfortunately · 26/01/2023 08:39

My cramping stopped today. I think at work I'm too gassy and can't release it so it blows me up and causes pain 🫣😳Hope everyone's feeling much better today and everyone has a lovely day 🥰

@Milamight how did your scan go sweetie 🤞 xxx

Maraudingmarauders · 26/01/2023 09:09

How is everyone this morning? My nausea is back with a vengeance so I guess I didn't need to be too worried. I had to call into work to say I'd be an hour later than usual (I've got a little flexi) as I felt like death when I first woke up. A little extra snooze has helped but I'm going to be dragging my feet until the weekend. First trimester fatigue is realllll.
I'd call in sick but another colleague is off which makes it awkward, plus I'm worried about being too sicky now and then having problems later. So going to try and power through.
I'm off on holiday in just over two weeks time for a city break, scaling back some of my plans and fitting in a lot more coffee shop breaks I think....

HattieRosa · 26/01/2023 09:19

@Maraudingmarauders I have also been really unwell this morning 🤢 unfortunately I don't have flexi time and I have to teach for 3 hours!
I hope you start feeling better soon!!!

suz2285 · 26/01/2023 09:34

Hi all, can I join in? Just got our positive last weekend, first pregnancy, should be around 4+6 and due very end of Sept 29/30th.

Early symptoms are extremely sore and heavy boobs, nausea (which seems to be getting worse), gas and bloating, tiredness and this morning diarrhoea. I currently work from home 2/3 days a week and the rest in the office so at least I can rest when needed if i'm home! But this is my first, so i'm spending a lot of time panicking, googling every symptom and feeling like its a very long time between now and my midwife appointment/first scan!

Did most of you book in for an early viability scan privately, i'm def thinking of doing the same!

Bubblemachiene · 26/01/2023 10:57

Morning all
I've woken up with no symptoms at all and boots feel smaller today
I think I have bv or thrush
I had really itchy skin & a rash on my chest last night. I'm also full of cold I don't know what's going on.

PCOSunfortunately · 26/01/2023 12:54

Congratulations everyone on your BFP's

@Bubblemachiene I'm the same. I should be 5+6 today according to my app. But I'm worried I don't really have any nausea. My boobs don't hurt as much today and I don't feel that tired 🤷‍♀️ I took a test this morning cause I haven't done one in a week and it was a strong positive but I know that doesn't really mean much to. you've had a child before so is this normal kind of thing?

@Maraudingmarauders sorry that your sickness has come back with a vengeance 😞 apparently feeling sick and being sick is positive that everything's going well! Roll on when you can have your holiday I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time ❤️ xx

Maraudingmarauders · 26/01/2023 13:26

@Bubblemachiene worth speak to your midwife or gp, but sometimes the body just does weird things during pregnancy! I've had a weird reaction to something on my stomach, it's almost like my immune system has gone a bit haywire
@HattieRosa sorry to hear you are also feeling unwell and I definitely don't envy you your job right now!
@suz2285 congratulations! And you can join our miserable stomach complaints club 😷hope it settles down for youna bit. I've found eating small and often helps, gaviscon chewable are my friend and avoiding rich and spicy foods.

mummmmyj · 26/01/2023 16:04

Hey everyone, sorry to those feeling rubbish! I’m 5+3 today and finally let hubby book an early scan for 2 weeks today so I’ll be 7+3, I wanted to stretch to just after 8 weeks but I’m pretty confident on dates so I’m hopeful we should be fine to see something at this point.

Still pretty symptomless here minus the boobs occasionally hurting, I’m tired but I’m blaming that on my 1.5 year old waking up at 4am the last few days..

colourPink · 26/01/2023 16:15

@HattieRosa I'm also a teacher so I feel your pain! My work don't know yet either so I'm making ANY symptoms I may have. Luckily no nausea/sickness as of yet 🤞🏼

HattieRosa · 26/01/2023 16:19

@colourPink it's hard going. I've actually spoken to my boss about it already as I had to have a few early scans so had to have a few days off in a row. They were fine about it.
Not sure when the right time to tell people is, but I do think that it's nice to have support and understanding if you're not feeling well 😊

Laul89 · 26/01/2023 17:56

@colourPink yeah that’s why I find it strange as I’ve been using Flo for years!
Found a clinic near me doing early scans for £60.. it asks for the date of your last period and the date of your first positive test, they recommend getting the scan done no earlier than 2 weeks after the first test so that would take me to 4th Feb. There’s some spaces on the 5th so going to speak to hubby about it tonight but I know he’ll just say ah we don’t need it 🙄🤣

Sorry to everyone who is feeling rubbish! I haven’t had any nausea (yet!) but tonight I’m quite bloated and have some heartburn. Also my boobs are still tender but seems to only be on an evening! x

Daisy155 · 26/01/2023 20:19

Thank you @NessiSD @PCOSunfortunately for me whats helping is ginger, lemon and lime 3 times a day and moving after eating if I don’t my stomach is so full and bloated with gas it hurts.

@Maraudingmarauders @HattieRosa I think that’s a good sign but sorry to hear you are suffering with nausea

congratulations @suz2285 🥰

To those who are not feeling symptoms I wasn’t as well for a while, and this week as soon as I hit 6+ weeks I am feeling extremely tired 😴 I don’t feel like doing anything except for having a shower and going back to bed.

I am also feeling slight nausea and constipation but eating lots of vegetables and dates is helping me. I make a green smoothie in the morning with dates and that helps.

I am sneezing a lot I didn’t know that was a first trimester symptom but I can’t stop sneezing 😅
its like I have allergies but it’s not the same.

I want my energy back I hope I don’t feel like this the whole pregnancy I eat and I want to sleep straight away.

I had really itchy skin & a rash on my chest last night. I'm also full of cold I don't know what's going on.

I also have a weird rash on my neck today. I did put some Vicks on last night as I've had a bad cold but I never react like that. I think it's the body doing weird things with all the hormones etc. I never normally get colds but heard the immune system is repressed while pregnant.

Lal33 · 27/01/2023 06:42

Night sweats. Bloody sick of waking up dripping. Had this since the start.

Anyone else? I'm 5 + 2 😊

northernmam · 27/01/2023 06:44

Is anyone else having very vivid (and sometimes quite frightening) dreams? They started about 2 weeks ago, before I even did a pregnancy test, and don't seem to be easing up.

Bubblemachiene · 27/01/2023 07:05

Private scans anyone planning one?
I was unsure, but my local one is offering half price midweek scans for £22. I was thinking I'd they put the offer on next week or week after I will go. Its just keeping an eye on fb page as its just on random days they will do it.
I am aware its really cheap, this was a place that was closed last march for being visibly unclean & failing on safeguarding but apparently it has re opened with a new manager.
The reviews are all good.
Wwyd?

JenfaK · 27/01/2023 07:48

Hiya all!

I found out on New Years Day that I'm pregnant - which was a lovely start to the year!
I'm about 8wks and just had my booking aapt yesterday and waiting to be given a date for my first scan. My EDD is 9th September 😊

I'm very much a worrier by nature and having no pregnancy symptoms other than sore boobs and mood swings isn't doing anything to alleviate my worries!

I'm 31 and this will be my first so I have no idea what to expect - it's all very new!

Also, random question but is anyone having nose bleeds like every morning? I do sometimes get nosebleeds once in a while (got them LOTS as a child) but recently they've been coming on very suddenly every morning. I'm not concerned about them but wondered if it was a pregnancy thing or just a coincidence.

Daisy155 · 27/01/2023 08:15

@northernmam I was just about to come here and talk about my vivid dreams l had a nightmare the other day and had to wake my husband it felt so real and today I had a vivid dream I was breastfeeding my 6 year old and the teeth were digging in me it’s so weird 😧

@JenfaK congratulations with my last pregnancy I had some nose bleed just a handful not every morning my midwife said it’s more blood volume in the nose area but if you are concerned definitely get in touch as soon as with your Gp and see what is happening. 💕

suz2285 · 27/01/2023 08:22

@JenfaK weirdly enough I've been listening to the podcast is it normal? And they were talking about nosebleeds, so yeah another random symptom!

@Bubblemachiene I'm still contemplating a private scan in a few weeks time, just hoping baby hangs on, holding my breath every day hoping for another day, gonna be a loooong pregnancy at this rate!! Tbh I'd go for that deal! But it's up to you...

@Lal33 I was so sweaty last night! But I'm quite a warm sleeper anyway! Least I managed to sleep through last night instead of the terrible sleep I've had the last few nights, maybe a late night jog like I did last night is the answer!!

Hope everyone is doing ok? I'm not feeling too sick yet today so of course that's making me worry as I feel a bit better! Can't win can you?!

winningeasy · 27/01/2023 08:42

Nausea is pretty much constant now at 6+1. I am super constipated as well and think that's making it worse.

Yes have had some bloodiness in the nasal area when I wake @JenfaK

Totally hear you on the dreams @northernmam a lot of mine involve water, mainly because I am either thirsty or need a wee

The first trimester is really hard, but I promise it gets better in second trimester. I had a lot of energy last time and by that point all the main scans and tests are out the way. It's a really nice time.

I am getting a bit anxious as I approach 7 weeks as I had a bit of a bleed then, all very normal but really shit me up. No one really prepares you for that

If you haven't downloaded, get the Squeezy app for strengthening pelvic floor, really good prep for the pushing stage of birth and also just got for the health of that area generally. I do it twice a day

northernmam · 27/01/2023 08:44

@Daisy155 It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one, but can totally sympathise with you. I have had a few where I've woken up in a complete panic and had to ask my husband if some of the things have actually happened!

I can't say I've had night sweats or anything up to now, but I'm struggling to sleep past 5am and am waking up several times a night.
