5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@Bubblemachiene

I phoned up on Monday (after an hour wait on hold!). They referred me to the midwife who called my yesterday. I have a 40 min phone consultation booked next week and then a physical appointment for a couple of weeks time.

They were quick to get in touch!

Bubblemachiene · 25/01/2023 07:03

Ohh that's good
@colourPink

Maraudingmarauders · 25/01/2023 07:44

@Bubblemachiene I had mine last week (7+4) but yesterday was because I wasn't available for the 9 week appointment they originally offered me.
My GP gave me a link and that gave me the email address I had to send information to.
The appointment was about an hour long, lots of family medical history questions etc and took blood samples. Thry also gave me my orange book you take to every appointment. A day later I was called to book in my ultrasound at 12 weeks, and I received my letter in the post yesterday.

Insomnia finally hit last night. Wide awake from 4-6.30, then finally managed to doze off in time for my 7am alarm😴

I'm normally a bad sleeper so its not too unusual for me but a change from the dead asleep I've had for the last week!

Maraudingmarauders · 25/01/2023 07:45

But yesterday = but only
Honestly I've got a new phone and I swear it makes it up half the time!

PCOSunfortunately · 25/01/2023 07:53

@Bubblemachiene I'm 5+4 today and I haven't told my GP yet. I haven't told my partner waiting till Saturday for his birthday then I will ring GP on 31st (my birthday) and I wfh this day.

Apart from slight nausea, my boobs feeling heavy and sore and a few cramps and twinges down there I don't feel pregnant which worries me 🫣

Hope you're all okay ❤️ xxx

Hi all I 6 weeks 2 days! I am really happy as it’s my much wished for 3 rd and I have now been told unfortunately I have PCOS, Thyroid, prolactinoma and I am pre diabetic although I am of healthy weight but the PCOS made me have insulin resistance anyway I have been suffering with bloating and gas nothing else and went to the hospital last Friday at 5 weeks for early check up as I am considered high risk due to my last pregnancy and new issues.

there was just a Yolk and Sac but the midwife was very happy and said that’s normal at this stage my next scan is in 2 weeks and they will be giving me regular 2 to 3 weeks scans and check up until baby arrives due to the result of my last pregnancy. I will also be on Aspirin from 12 weeks and I am so positive that this pregnancy will go extremely better than last time I am eating healthy and exercising. I have more energy and even though I am also having insomnia I am forcing a night time routine which starts at 8 pm by 10 I am asleep every day with the occasional waking up here and there but putting my phone far away is helping x

mummmmyj · 25/01/2023 08:26

@Bubblemachiene they should happen before 10 weeks as some of the tests should be done before 10 weeks.

From memory and from my email for this one coming up they cover screening tests, scan available and discuss health/ lifestyle during pregnancy. It also says in my email that a blood test will be offered at this appointment and that the midwife will also discuss my full medical history including any confidential information and previous pregnancy history and that I can take someone with me if I’d like but a part of it will be solo.

Hope that helps x

PCOSunfortunately · 25/01/2023 10:11

@Daisy155 do you currently take metformin for PCOS? I do and I'm worried they'll take me off it when I tell them that I'm pregnant as I've heard it can help with mis carriages. So really would like to stay on it till 12 to 16 weeks at least 😕 also did you have to use clomid or have you managed to get pregnant naturally? xx

Bubblemachiene · 25/01/2023 10:25

Thanks
I've just been filled form in, just a waiting game now. It's been 7.5 years since Iast done this lol.
@PCOSunfortunately I feel the same just twinges in my lower stomach no sore boots or sickness tho x

Daisy155 · 25/01/2023 13:44

Hi @PCOSunfortunately I don’t want to say what happened with my last full term pregnancy as we are in a positive place but I do believe it was the PCOS and thyroid that caused me issues!

I wasn’t on any medication for the PCOS because I was under investigation the past 5 months because of the last pregnancy. I got pregnant by not only eating extremely healthy foods and when I say healthy I really tried and I am so bored of eating healthy I won’t lie and exercising.

I am also on Cabergoline for the prolactinoma, Cabergoline helps to ovulate and to mantain regular periods because my body cant do this I was also on Levothroxine and forced the doctor to put up my medication from 50 to 75 mm.

I kept pushing my doctors for the optimal levels of my hormones to get pregnant they were not happy and tried to fob me off but I managed to get a few bloods and 2 scans done every 6 to 8 weeks I demanded for retest since late August 2022. I only found out I was pregnant and managed to get a scan and I demanded again for consultants and this is their plan - Asprin at 12 weeks reduces the risk of miscarriage or stillbirth from 12 weeks on wards they will keep retesting me for the thyroid for the optimal level during pregnancy.

the only thing I can’t take is cabergoline it encourages ovulation therefore dangerous for baby.

Daisy155 · 25/01/2023 13:47

@PCOSunfortunately do you have consultants and if so you need to ask them these questions and demand what needs to be taken, also ask about the Asprin as well and see what they say. I also have a chance of gestational diabetes have they informed you about this? That PCOS can lead to gestational diabetes please make sure you push for more tests earlier if you could they always say that PCOS is not a problem but it is and should be managed very well xx

localbunny · 25/01/2023 15:40

Hi all, room for one more?! Been TTC baby 1 for three years, one CP in 2021, finally got a BFP! Nice and strong, and a CB saying 2-3 weeks. Just as we were due to start IVF! 🙈

Looking at my LMP etc I think I'm 5+4 and due around September 27th. Viability scan booked for 2 weeks time and time is going v slowly! Feeling nervous after trying for so long, but excited nonetheless.

Wishing everyone all the luck 💗

Maraudingmarauders · 25/01/2023 16:15

Congratulations@localbunny that's wonderful news! I swear our bodies know...

I'm feeling less sick today which is lovely but then followed by the immediate what-ifs so nowni feel less reassured. I just really want to get past the 12 week point. I know its not a magical fail safe but I think I might settle down a little...

PCOSunfortunately · 25/01/2023 16:31

@Daisy155 so sorry hear of your last pregnancy 😢 can't imagine what you've been through. I don't really have a consultant I went private for clomid who sent me on merry way with the drugs. By which time NHS hospital contacted me and they have wrote me a letter to explain that clomid is working as I was ovulating on 50mg proved by blood tests. But I haven't saw anyone in particularly. And my GP know nothing 🤦🏼‍♀️ I will enquire about aspirin though thank you. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy this time round now you are under constant care 🥰

Congratulations @localbunny fingers crossed for a sticky bean for us both 🤞 I had 2 cycles of clomid left then I was being referred to IVF.

I just feel so bloated and gassy it's untrue! I feel like the ovulation pains I get with clomid if this is normal 🤷‍♀️

@Maraudingmarauders glad the sickness has died down for you today and you feel a bit better 🥰 yeah the lack of symptoms scares me to 🥺 yes the 12 week stage would be magical wouldn't it! Although well aware that's not the be all and end all!

Laul89 · 25/01/2023 17:40

Hi everyone!
Recently found out we are pregnant with our first baby so feeling very happy & anxious all at the same time!

According to last period I am around 5 weeks however my app and NHS website are giving me different dates at the moment! I’ve contacted the GP and was told the midwife will be in touch with my first appointment date which is between 8-10 weeks.

Don’t feel pregnant at the moment (not sure exactly what I want it to feel like 🤣) but I do have some cramps, twinges, sore boobs and regular headaches!

Hope you are all doing well 🥰

colourPink · 25/01/2023 18:29

@Laul89 congratulations! You sound exactly like me! And we seem to be a similar amount of weeks. How exciting!

Laul89 · 25/01/2023 20:07

@colourPink congratulations to you too! It’s so nice to be able to talk to other people going through exactly the same thing ☺️

Do you have any dates for appointments with your midwife yet? x

colourPink · 25/01/2023 20:23

@Laul89 yep! She phoned me yesterday and I have a phone consultation to do the long questionnaire in two weeks time and then my physical appointment the week after that. All very exciting! :)

Laul89 · 25/01/2023 20:28

@colourPink ah amazing! So much to look forward to 🥰 I can’t wait to know our due date! Are you having any early scans or will your first be the 12 week nhs one? x

NessiSD · 25/01/2023 20:28

Hi everyone,

I've also recently found out we are pregnant, I've been getting positives since the 16th. I think I'm either 5 weeks today or tomorrow. I had a CP in November and we've been TTC on and off since Sept 2021. My GP said in Nov I have to self refer myself to the hospital, did anyone else have to do this? I haven't done it yet as I wanted to wait until 5 weeks based on last time. I had a CP 2 days after I tested positive on day due to go on AF. I will likely do the self referral tomorrow.

I need to ring the GP tomorrow as my cervical screening last year came up with HPV positive so I've just received another letter. Has anyone had this happen and did they do the screening before 12 weeks? Another question too, has anyone had tinnitus since finding out? It usually happens to me most evenings after dinner. It's pretty annoying 😅

Wishing you all the best on this journey 💓

colourPink · 25/01/2023 20:39

@Laul89 I have a private scan booked for next Sunday (5th feb) where I'll be a day off 8 weeks 🥰

Personally I just want to know there something in there 🤣 which sounds silly after three positive tests but still!

colourPink · 25/01/2023 20:40

@NessiSD congrats! I am similar to you as we've been TTC since Aug 21.

I did not refer myself to the hospital but I think each county is different? I just phoned my GP who put my details forward to the midwife's who then contacted me.

Congratulations!

Banditrules · 25/01/2023 20:57

Hi all! Lovely to see so many September babies in waiting!
I’m 5+4 at the minute with baby number 2, already have a 2 year old DC. Tested positive from around 12th Jan. We’re telling our parents at the weekend so I tested again today as ridiculous as it is, just to confirm again before we tell them 😅

Got a private scan booked in for when I’m 8 weeks & just waiting on a date for my booking in appointment!

Wishing you all happy & healthy pregnancies ✨

Daisy155 · 25/01/2023 21:37

So many September babies congratulations @localbunny @Laul89 @Banditrules and @NessiSD so exciting I hope you all have an amazing positive pregnancy journey 💕

@PCOSunfortunately thank you so much for the kind words and keep us updated on the Asprin I hope you do get a consultant as the clomid worked for you! Yes I am very positive this pregnancy will go very well as I have become more aware how to ask for help in the NHS because they can be so slow!

I have an another scan appointment next week and I am really excited to see how far the baby has grown 😊 nervous but excited! Xx

Laul89 · 25/01/2023 22:24

@NessiSD congratulations! I also had a chemical in November 🥺 so feeling really anxious this time! We don’t self refer in this area either, I called the GP and they said the midwife only comes into the surgery once a week on a Monday so she will pick up my details next week & call me!

@colourPink ah lovely! I feel a little the same… want to have a private scan but don’t at the same time! I’m torn 😩 I think it’s cos I don’t know exactly how far along I am, my flo app says 5+3 today but think that’s based on a 28 day cycle cos when I go on the NHS due date calendar and put in my cycle length (32 days) it puts me at 4+4 or something like that! Confusing!

@Banditrules I’m the same… had 3 positive tests but we are going to tell my parents at the weekend so going to do another test on Saturday 🙈 when does it stop 🤣
