5 weeks today! Sep 23 Thread

Hi all, I found out I am expecting my second baby on Wednesday, and I'm 5 weeks today. Early days, but wanted to start a thread for those with similar due dates so we can go through the motions together. ☺️
I'm due 10th September. My little boy will be 2 and 3 quarters by then, so a good little age gap.

Any anxieties? For me, less so about the pregnancy this time around, far more chill. My anxiety is surrounding timing. Baby 2 wasn't planned for just now, but a happy surprise and very much wanted. However, the most instrumental career opportunity for me is coming up in the next 2-4 months or so, and I was hoping to get this role. It may or may not have come off anyway, but I don't want my pregnancy to be the determining factor (I don't think my company would outwardly discriminate, but they might find a 'business reason' I wasn't successful), so I ideally need to keep my pregnancy hidden from work for as long as possible. If I get the role, I will have no worries in taking Mat leave around August and return next year, as I know I'll do a damn good job for them once I'm back, and for the foreseeable future. Anyway... that's my one thing at the mo! ☺️

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

@PPop yes we do!! I just don't feel like I'm that lucky for it to all go smoothly though! Oh no how heart breaking for your sister 😞 how many weeks was she?

Haha yeah it is it said on this morning on Friday when I worked from home that September the 27th is the most popular day for babies due dates as people are more relaxed over the Christmas break! And probs have more time🤣🫣

@Milamight sorry sweetie, I'm behind what's happening tomorrow? ❤️

My only sanity and this may sound stupid is on my Apple Watch it tells you your heart rate and before I got BFP I noticed mine had gone up 10 to 15 bpm more which is why I tested. So I keep checking my heart rate now to make sure it's still working hard to feed the baby. Could be complete nonsense but it's my comfort blanket right now 🤞

Milamight · 23/01/2023 16:38

I have to go back to the EPU for a re scan. But last time they missed so much and i ended up having a private scan to check baby. Heartbeat was seen etc so just worried in case something has gone wrong in the meantime! Scans make me so anxious! And i hate the EPU 🥲 x

colourPink · 23/01/2023 16:45

@PCOSunfortunately positive thoughts! I know it's easier said than done but I'm trying to just be excited and happy about this.

I think I'll relax a lot more after the private scan so hopefully you will as well!

Has sickness started for anyone yet? I was sick this morning I’m only 5+5! Terrified of what’s to come, I had awful pregnancy sickness last time too

PBandJs · 23/01/2023 18:08

@WilllowStar I had it once a few days ago at 4+3, and I have seen a few people say that sometimes the prenatal vitamins can cause sickness if you haven’t eaten enough which is what I suspect happened to me. I’ve taken them on a really full stomach since and touch wood no more so far!

PCOSunfortunately · 23/01/2023 18:39

No sickness for me yet but I do feel nauseous but just have to compose my self. I've just took my first pregnancy vitamins as really wasn't sure which ones to buy. I already take folic acid before ttc. What vitamins have you guys all brought please? I brought pregnacare max in the end because I just had no idea. I seem to know a lot about infertility but nothing about pregnancy 🫣

winningeasy · 23/01/2023 19:18

Seeking Health Optimal Prenatal (good for pregnancy too)

Wild Nutrition and Terra Nova are also good brands

Maraudingmarauders · 23/01/2023 19:21

I'm just on folic acid and vitamin D. My midwife said that's all they really recommend and not to bother with anything else. Just eat as well as you can. I've been taking my folic acid and vit d for about 9 months now (3 months prior to ttc and 6months of ttc)
I'm keen to make sure my amino acid intake is decent but nonsurgical either can face sardines at the moment. Normally I love them on toast.

Maraudingmarauders · 23/01/2023 19:24

*not sure I can face (phone just had a melt down!)

I'm taking all Tesco brand pregnancy vitamins, extra folic acid as I'm classed as over weight, and iron tablets, I wouldn't necessarily get expensive ones, they all pretty much do the same thing 🥰

WideOpenSpaces · 23/01/2023 19:42

@WilllowStar yep I am so so nauseous all of the time. The only times I'm not feeling sick is when I'm eating or asleep

WilllowStar · 23/01/2023 21:44

I’m taking pregnacare too but I always make sure to do so on a full stomach.

@WideOpenSpaces that sounds rough, mine is easing by midday at the moment so far but I doubt that will last long 🙈

mummmmyj · 24/01/2023 03:24

This insomnia is no fun.. 😩

Gymbelle · 24/01/2023 04:27

@mummmmyj - tell me about it 😂

I hear you! Been up since 3.15 .....

northernmam · 24/01/2023 04:49

Hello, could I join please? Found out a week ago that I'm pregnant with baby number 3 after our first cycle of TTC! It's still sinking in how very lucky we are. My due date is 30th September so I might have a September baby, although my children have a pattern of making me wait a little bit longer to meet them.
Currently up as DH is snoring his head off and I can't sleep through it.
Hope we all have healthy and happy pregnancies ❤️

mummmmyj · 24/01/2023 06:24

Thanks for insomnia solidarity ladies! My DS woke up at 6.15am and I think I finally fell back to sleep around 5am! I totally forgot about this with my first.. it defo did calm down a bit.. I just can’t remember when!

winningeasy · 24/01/2023 09:07

Yep the insomnia is horrendous. I woke up at 2am and was properly awake.

I moved to the spare room and put on a meditation called 'back to sleep' on the Calm app, it worked well and I slept through again to 6:30am

PCOSunfortunately · 24/01/2023 10:18

I nearly had insomnia. I got up about half 3 for the toilet I thought it was 6 🫣 went back to bed and struggled to go back to sleep thought don't pick up my phone. Luckily I was probably awake 5 mins then I went back to sleep 🙏

Hope everyone's okay today ❤️ TMI but I'm struggling with constipation today 😕

PBandJs · 24/01/2023 12:18

Afternoon all,

is anyone else really struggling with eating? I haven’t got sickness but just have no appetite so forget to eat regularly and then struggle to finish meals because it feels like I’m chewing cardboard.
Yesterday a urine dipstick showed ketones which my understanding was that my body is trying to eat it’s own fat reserves because there’s not enough food coming in and can be harmful to baby if it goes on too long 😞 I’m really worried and trying to up what I’m eating but still struggling. I’ve always had a big appetite so just praying it kick starts again soon.

if anyone has experienced similar and has any tips I would be very grateful x

FarmBaby3 · 24/01/2023 16:55

@PBandJs ketones could be because of lack of fluids as well. Small meals, often. Lots of snacks things to try and build it up. I was feeling like that yesterday but I just made myself eat things even though I wasn't feeling it. White toast with lots of real butter, ice cold grapes, crisps. Not the best diet but it was getting things in me. I hope it improves for you x

PBandJs · 24/01/2023 18:12

@FarmBaby3 thank you ☺️I’ve been really thirsty so drinking quite a lot, but definitely not eating enough cos my weight is also dropping.
I’ve just gone to the shop and bought everything and anything. I’ve been trying to eat really healthy when I do, but now I’m just going for the anything is better than nothing approach.

I’ve also been having what feels like bladder pains that go right up into my belly button, but am testing negative for an infection so not sure what’s going on. It’s now given me upper backache from hunching over to stop it hurting 😔 I never imagined early pregnancy would come with so many strange aches, pains and sensations!

x

Maraudingmarauders · 24/01/2023 19:50

@PBandJs I've been suffering really badly with what I've assumed is a flare up of gastritis. Like a band of fire across the top of my stomach. I'm having to be incredibly careful what I eat to stop it kicking off. It leaves me doubled over in pain. Anything remotely spicy or rich or dry seems to do it. Gaviscon is helping a little.
I'm a big eater normally and lots of food is putting me off. As @FarmBaby3 said, little meals often is the way forward. I'm trying to keep some crackers on me, and if anything catches my attention I eat it (no matter if it is healthy or not). Dairylea dunkers are helping me no end at the moment 😂

BeatAroundTheBush · 24/01/2023 20:14

@Maraudingmarauders and @PBandJs sorry you're both struggling with your stomachs, sounds really tough 😞 know what you mean about eating whatever you fancy, ate a lot of white bread today 😂

I had my first appt today with the midwife, took over an hour there were so many questions! Good to have a bit more info about the process though.

Bubblemachiene · 25/01/2023 06:08

Hi all has anyone had a booking in app yet? What point do they usually happen?
I've still not been in touch with my own gp yet, spent yesterday calling for it to be engaged evry time. I finally got through at 4.30 for the receptionist to tell me I needed to call in to fill a form in grr.
I'm 5+3 today.
