@HRSC We renovated the entire house including a loft extension when my second son was born! It was supposed to be finished before he got here but "Covid" aka useless builders meant it was delayed. It was definitely far from ideal but just about manageable. You just kinda do what you have to do! The worst bit was not having a kitchen for weeks, we basically ate at my mums house / McDonald's!

Rowanandremy · 29/12/2022 13:22

@DesertSnow and @Amme18 another one here in favour of salt and vinegar Pringles or Aldi stackers (I’m a bit more hit and miss with those though). I can’t even tell you how many tubes I’ve eaten because my stomach can’t handle anything else.

Im not massively happy with what I’ve eaten over Christmas but at the same time it’s better than usual because I can’t overindulge with some of my favourite treats because even looking at them is making me heave 🤣 I’ve missed swimming and I’m quite keen to get back to it, if only I wasn’t falling asleep everytime I sit for longer than 5 mins!

Im a bit gutted today to be honest, my in laws kindly invited us out for a meal as a treat and I’m having to miss it as I feel pretty rubbish. We haven’t all been together before so I’m disappointed but also glad I’ve convinced my wife to go with dd.

Gizzyanne · 29/12/2022 14:11

Hi all, I’m due 12th august with my first… so I’m about 7 1/2 weeks! I’m excited but really anxious! Every little twinge in my belly makes me panic! I’m exhausted but so far no sickness just some headaches! Hoping to have other people to chat on the same journey as me :) xx

AnnieApple123 · 29/12/2022 14:18

Welcome @Gizzyanne I’m afraid I’m just the same with every little twinge.

Looks like we’re nearly ready for a new thread for 2023. I’ll start one shortly and post the link here…

BCxx · 29/12/2022 15:14

@HRSC oh no, fingers crossed you get it all finished in time! This is our second and we do have a spare room but it’s taken up by my work stuff, a desk, computers, the dog sleeps in there at night etc and we don’t really have any space to move it all to. We’re in the early stages of building our forever house but it’s not going to be ready until probably spring of 2024. I think we might hold off and not give this baby their own room initially though then we’ll be short of space for less time. My son’s room is a really good size so all the baby stuff could go in with his to begin. Really would have been ideal timing if we could have moved in about 6 months earlier though 🙈

BCxx · 29/12/2022 15:15

my mouth is watering at the thought of salt and vinegar crisps 😂

sally16 · 29/12/2022 15:22

Lemonade has been my go too! I love it! Did last time too but can't stand it not pregnant 🤷🏼‍♀️
Love soft rolls with butter too! Haven't been brave enough to try a strong flavour like salt and vinegar haha

PumpkinEverything · 29/12/2022 15:24

@somuchtolearnabout i was the same as you with my first pregnancy and totally understood how people manage to get to 6 months pregnant without knowing 😂

im having the same ‘symptoms’ as before, only more stretching feeling in my uterus this time round. Also a slight bit more nausea too! Ritz crackers is my go to for easing it 😂
we booked to go for dinner tonight at the place I was supposed to have my work dinner that I didn’t get to go to and I’m so excited! Hoping my appetite all goes okay. I don’t really feel very hungry much this week, but am constantly grazing on chocolate (and it’s not even because I want it). I’m sort of looking forward to it all being gone so I can stop eating it 😂🙈

PumpkinEverything · 29/12/2022 15:24

@sally16 you’ve made me really want a soft roll with loads of butter, and a bag of salt and vinegar crisps inside it 😂🤤

AnnieApple123 · 29/12/2022 15:28

Wanting carbs and beige foods is apparently really common at this point. I’m going to make macaroni cheese tonight in attempt to satisfy this craving.

Right, new thread coming up as there’s only room for 15 more posts on this one…

Cat1424 · 29/12/2022 15:28

@Gizzyanne Im also due on 12th August (according to LMP) with my first baby!

ChloeN · 29/12/2022 15:36

@PumpkinEverything were going out tonight too but I’m scared 😭 I nearly cancelled because I literally fancy nothing 🤦🏻‍♀️

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 29/12/2022 16:02

@DesertSnow which app is it you're using for baby names?

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 29/12/2022 16:06

@HRSC we are moving house in 3 weeks and will be starting a huge renovation. Had the house needs knocking down. And I am dreading it. I'm also working full time, and doing a masters in law. The exhaustion I think will kill me off 😂

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 29/12/2022 16:06

Oh sorry just seen there is a new thread 🤦🏻‍♀️

DesertSnow · 29/12/2022 16:11

@MinnieFirstTimeMum It's called BabyName and it's the yellow one with the white egg icon. Can't remember who mentioned it on here but it's like a dating app, you match up with your partner and swipe left/right depending on whether you like the name.

sally16 · 29/12/2022 16:18

@PumpkinEverything omg a crisp roll!!!!

LMM91x · 29/12/2022 17:26

@DesertSnow it was me 🙋🏻‍♀️ isn’t it the most fun !! We love doing it of an evening now there’s no wine to entertain me 🤣

DesertSnow · 29/12/2022 18:05

@LMM91x Ha it's so much fun! Thanks for the recommendation 😄

Sjw30 · 29/12/2022 18:42

Ladies, I’m a nurse and just coming to the end of 3 12 hour shifts that have been really busy and probably haven’t ate or drank as well as I should be, and missed breaks 🙄 I’m of course doing moving and handling as best I can but I’ve been cramping and twinging for the past few hours. Should I be worried or a sign to try and take things as easy as I can. This is my first so I’m probably over thinking things but I haven’t really had any cramps since the first week I found out.

Amme18 · 29/12/2022 18:48

@Sjw30 listen to your body but also don’t worry too much - just make sure you’re not doing above what you should with m&h (I know how easy it is to do when you’re just trying to help the patient).
I’m 8+5 and been getting a lot of pains again! I put it down to stretching and such!

BCxx · 29/12/2022 19:35

@Sjw30 have you told your work you’re pregnant? It’s most likely nothing to worry about, maybe just your body telling you you’ve overdone it. I did get pains from time to time last time, haven’t had many after the initial implantation pains this time

Lalalul · 29/12/2022 20:03

Jumping in on the chat about telling work. I’m so nervous. I don’t get on with my boss. I am dreading telling them, they regularly have me in tears. I am trying to move to a different department, but the role hasn’t been approved and I don’t want my happy news to ruin my chances. My boss has also been talking about how we need to make the maternity policy less favourable to save costs (charming!). I’m thinking of telling work after 12 week scan, which is 30th Jan, but I don’t think this new role will be approved by then. Moving department and handing over to someone to take over from me… not sure how it will all work before August! There isn’t anyone who could cover my role internally. It should be such happy news but I’m worried about how it will impact my ability to move. the department change (and moving away from my boss) was the only thing motivating me at work.

it’s sad that we have to worry about how it will impact promotions etc. I know legally they can’t discriminate but honestly there are ways companies can get around it I’m sure.

Sjw30 · 29/12/2022 20:51

@Amme18 yes absolutely. Thank you for the reassurance, I think I just feel exhausted and know I’ve probably overdone it so overthinking the cramps!

@BCxx I have told my two managers but the rest of my colleagues don’t know yet. Thank you
