@Sjw30 Yes I definitely relate to feeling much more pregnant around the time of getting a positive than now. My last pregnancy was just like this too so it’s not worrying me too much this time.

Thankfully I’m not suffering much physically but am still very anxious, having had a couple of scares now. Every toilet trip at the moment quite fills me with dread.

AnnieApple123 · 27/12/2022 14:10

@Cat1424 Thanks for asking about nursing bras. I could do with recommendations too as didn’t love the ones I had last time. They were the Jo Jo Maman Baby Emma Jane ones and were basically fine but I personally would have liked a bit more padding.

I’m also currently in sports bras but am feeling the need for something more now. I can’t remember who it was mentioned here about feeling like they’re a drawing pin digging into their boob? I’m getting that feeling a lot now.

Sjw30 · 27/12/2022 14:34

@AnnieApple123 thats reassuring thank you. This is my first so quite anxious at what is normal and what isn’t. Hope you’re doing okay xx

CityKity · 27/12/2022 14:37

Hello all, I took a little break from MN over Christmas, and pretty much forgot I was pregnant 😅. Luckily no symptoms emerged while I was staying with family, so I’m relieved I didn’t have to hide being sick, but still a bit worried that I have no symptoms. I have my booking appointment tomorrow so will be nice to talk it over with a midwife.

re: telling work @Owlgirl14 @buttercupbee I’m in a similar boat as no one at all has me down as maternal in the slightest, so they’re going to be really shocked. I’m a bit concerned as no one in my immediate team has kids and have been vocally disparaging about how kids ruin your career and set you back. In the wider company a lot of woman are off on Mat leave in 2023 so I’ve also heard some not so great comments about that. Officially I don’t have to tell work until week 25, but that’s going to be hard to manage, but I’ll definitely leave it till after 12 weeks, and longer if possible.
Im obviously relieved it all happened so quickly but a tiny bit gutted that the promotion which I was going for mid 2023 will almost definitely be snatched away now 😥.

SnowL2021 · 27/12/2022 14:37

So, my plans not to tell anyone until the 12-week scan (like I did with my first) went t*ts up when my mother-in-law served us Parma ham and Brie for Christmas dinner starter 😩. Now feeling guilty that my own parents are clueless!

Re. symptoms, mine very much come and go. Some days, I feel almost normal. Others, I feel sick with sore boobs x

jjeanii · 27/12/2022 14:42

Anyone else having trouble with constipation and stools like rabbit droppings? I'm 5weeks and I don't know if it's related or not

ChloeN · 27/12/2022 14:53

@jjeanii yep, think it’s meant to be due to increase of progesterone that causes it, mines been like that for weeks!

Sjw30 · 27/12/2022 14:56

I have told my two managers but I’m pretty close with them. I work on a busy ward so I personally feel there’s only so long I can go without saying something. But trying to keep it quiet for the rest of my colleagues.

Sjw30 · 27/12/2022 14:56

@jjeanii yep, since the beginning!

AnnieApple123 · 27/12/2022 14:59

@CityKity That sounds really tough with all those negative comments. If it helps. I managed to avoid telling anyone work-related until I was over 20 weeks in my first pregnancy. It was winter, like now, so I wore lots of baggy clothes and a big coat.

I read about an actress in an 80s soap who managed to completely conceal her entire pregnancy and took tips from that. They arranged to always film her sitting down, standing behind something or holding something in front of her stomach.

Most people aren’t as aware as you might think.

Cat1424 · 27/12/2022 15:00

@AnnieApple123 @jollydollyirl I went to Sainsburys this morning for a few bits and bought a pair of their black and white non underwired bras to put me on, it’s been like a dream today, so much more comfortable. If you’re struggling for now might be worth trying those out.

sally16 · 27/12/2022 15:01

@CityKity I had my promotion meeting 2 weeks ago and discussed back pay etc and did not let on I knew I was pregnant 😅 I think it may have been a different approach if I did due to my mat pay going to be slightly increased now (nothing spectacular)

Remember ladies to get in touch with 'pregnant then screwed' on Instagram if you need any employment advice! They can really help fight your corner and stop you missing out from opportunities you'd otherwise have been guaranteed!

How tricky with the Brie and Parma ham! You don’t think she did it deliberately ‘cos she suspected and wanted to be one of the first to know, do you? That could be quite a cunning trick of a MIL come to think of it!

SnowL2021 · 27/12/2022 15:15

@AnnieApple123 Haha that would be a cunning trick but no, she didn’t have a clue. She’d actually kindly made it instead of salmon because I don’t eat fish!

BusyBushBaby · 27/12/2022 15:24

I'm starting a new job on 9th January. I haven't told them yet but I think I'm going to have to tell them pretty soon after starting.

Even more awkward!

sally16 · 27/12/2022 15:45

@BusyBushBaby you can wait until after 20 weeks before you HAVE to tell them :)

Might stop any fears of probation periods etc! Xx

Amme18 · 27/12/2022 15:58

Re poos - I’ve been the same for weeks, think it’s why I feel so “full” all the time too! Drinking loads of water too but general diet is poor cause of nausea.
Last week my exhaustion was next level, literally couldn’t do anything! Started on the spatone sachets in Orange juice and feel so much better! Although Xmas day/Boxing Day has wiped me
out.
I’ve been off sick since September with my mum being poorly/passing away and think I’m going back 9th Jan, so will probably tell my manager then as think I’ll need them to know to help support my return to work! Nervous for telling them though!

DesertSnow · 27/12/2022 16:08

I'm so sorry to read your update @Alexandra07, what horrible timing for you. Really hope you get your BFP very soon xx

@LBF2020 100% on the weeing thing. Feel like I need to go so badly and then it's like a trickle.

@Owlgirl14 I had a scan with Window to the Womb at 8+2. Would recommend.

Can't remember who mentioned about the boobs but yes, so huge and sore. When I try and turn over in bed it's lilke having two canon balls on my chest.

My constant nausea decided to turn into actual vomiting at 3am on Christmas morning, so that was fun 😂Been really struggling with morning sickness and fatigue the last few days. I'm 9+3 now.

We had a lovely time telling family, particularly DH's at the secret santa. When he said 'my secret santa is expecting a baby' as the final clue, you could have heard a pin drop and then his mum just shrieked and everyone was so happy. Unfortuntely I was feeling very poorly so had to go lie down in a dark room and miss some of the festivities, but it was lovely.

Hope everyone had lovely Christmasses, whether you were telling people or hiding it 😊

Owlgirl14 · 27/12/2022 16:37

It's nice to know that others haven't been known to be very maternal as I thought I'd be the only one! Can't wait to see everyone's shocked faces when we tell them 😂

Also in a similar boat with a possible upcoming promotion, it really isn't ideal but my husband said they can't discriminate as they've already put it forward to you that they'd like you to do it.

Hoping to wait out until 12 weeks to first tell family and friends and then work. Although I think my uterus has expanded, along with some bloating which is causing a slight bump and I'm usually pretty skinny so I'll have to try and hide that!

Is everyone taking specific pregnancy vitamins? I've been taking a multivitamin for sometime which already has the recommend amount of folic acid and Vitamin D in it. So wasn't planning on changing it unless the doctor/midwife suggests when I see them.

Also is anyone else taking antihistamines or beta blockers?

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 27/12/2022 16:47

@Owlgirl14 I am exactly the same as you, if not worse. Not only am I not maternal, I have always said that I wouldn't want a baby and they aren't in my future plans. It took me years to qualify for my job, so I never wanted to take any time out. But here we are 😂

sally16 · 27/12/2022 16:47

@Owlgirl14 I just take the boots pregnancy vitamins with a folic acid the dr gave me, last pregnancy I got my pregnancy vitamins from my midwife but that seems to have stopped :/

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I'm exactly the same, told me mum not to look to us for any grandkids 😂

sally16 · 27/12/2022 19:05

Going back to work tomorrow :( still feel horrible but I fear this is just my pregnancy now and I'll never go back if I don't try tomorrow 🫠😂

CityKity · 27/12/2022 19:24

@Owlgirl14 about vitamins, so check what else is in your multivitamins. I was taking my using multivitamins before TTC and up to 5 weeks pregnant but then read that you need to avoid Vitamin A (which was in my multivit!). I’ve now switched to Iron, folic acid, and vitamin D only (to use up stocks I had to hand), and have bought pregnacare for later.

@AnnieApple123 thanks for the tips! I think you’re right that big jumpers and coats can hide a lot! Im new-ish in my job in that I’ll be there 1yr in March, I’d like to cross that date before telling work (around 18weeks by my maths).
