Can’t believe we’re onto a second thread already. Hope this doesn’t put any newbies off, as I don’t think we’re even halfway through possible due dates yet. Anyone welcome to join in.

I wanted to start off by reassuring TheBirdintheCave that I have no nausea either and had none whatsoever all through my last pregnancy. Thinking of you and hoping your current fears turn out to be for nothing. xx

Just driving home from scan now, I'm so happy 🥰

such a small little bean but it's really there, and that was one hell of a heartbeat, thing looks like its half heart at the moment 😂

She has me measuring at 7 weeks not 8, but my cycle runs 31-34 days so that makes some sense and the heartbeat has done wonders to reassure me! Was so anxious before but now I feel pretty confident that unless I feel/find out otherwise, until my 12 week scan, I'm PREGNANT :o

Fiance got quite emotional! Definitely feels real now! Such a relief!

TheBirdintheCave · 17/12/2022 10:27

@BoodifulGoose Congratulations on your little bean! :D And yeah my cycle was 35 days this time so the measuring 'behind' for you with a similar cycle length makes sense :)

@Olofsdaughter Good luck with yours!

Mulner88 · 17/12/2022 10:29

@BoodifulGoose that's brilliant ❤️ they measured me a week behind also and my cycles are normally 32-35. It's so lovely to see that heartbeat and really does give some reassurance xx

LMM91x · 17/12/2022 10:33

@BoodifulGoose oh wow anazing news, I cannot wait for my scan next week. YOU ARE PREGNANT !! 💕💕💕

was talking to my other half this morning and he was like this is all so weird cos you do a test and then like nothing until 12 weeks unless you book a private scan?! Its madness!!!

i wonder what my scan next week will bring - I’ll be 6+6 on my calculations but I actually have a short cycle of maybe 25 days on average so not sure where they’ll date me. Eeek! I am positively trying to push those negative thoughts back - i can do nothing but carry on as I am until such time my body tells me differently!

on that note.. today my body is telling me to stay in bed cos everytime i’ve got up this morning i’ve dry heaved and/or thrown up 🤣❤️✌️. What is this new found hell I find myself in!

BoodifulGoose · 17/12/2022 10:33

@TheBirdintheCave @Mulner88 thank you so much! 💙

Yeah I had told fiance yesterday that I'd I was measuring under I think I'd panic, but this does make total sense so I'm feeling quite okay with it!

GUYS THIS IS SO BIZARRE 😂 there's a LIVING THING INSIDE ME 😂

BoodifulGoose · 17/12/2022 10:35

@LMM91x EEEP thank you 😁🥰

Hahahaha yes same, but I had an hour drive to the scan leaving at 8am 😭😂 just been eating constantly though seems to be helping it somewhat!

Yeah so bizarre to me that GP doesn't even confirm it for you or anything!

AnnieApple123 · 17/12/2022 10:38

@BoodifulGoose Wonderful news!

i think im one if the lucky ones who has an early scan place literally on my local high street ……. It’s gonna be too tempting isn’t it as this goes on not to just pop in and have a peek🤣

@BoodifulGoose amazing 🥰

ChloeN · 17/12/2022 11:08

@TheBirdintheCave I feel a bit like you I think but I just try not to think about it. I had a weird cramp on my right side last night that got me panicking but it’s gone today. I can’t imagine going to a scan and the baby having a heartbeat but I do think that’s normal given what’s happened before!

sally16 · 17/12/2022 11:38

Weird one.. anyone else so itchy!! I could honestly rip the skin off my legs right now! I even shaved and moisturised as a last resort 😂
I was super itchy last time and remember after that my nipple were like agony so I'm hoping the trend doesn't continue 🥲

SnowL2021 · 17/12/2022 11:42

@BoodifulGoose Congrats on the scan! So exciting. I’ve just had mine, too - all went well. Measured at 7+4 (1 day further than expected) and heard the heartbeat. Was an abdominal scan. If this is reassuring for anyone, I haven’t had many symptoms at all so far! Only one day of nausea. My one-year-old stank out the waiting room by doing his morning poo while we were waiting for them to print out the scan picture!🤞 for everyone else’s scans x

BCxx · 17/12/2022 11:56

@BoodifulGoose aww congratulations! That’s great news 🥰

BCxx · 17/12/2022 11:57

@SnowL2021 amazing congratulations! Mine was an abdominal scan last time and I was so relieved not to need the internal one, did they offer it too or was the picture clear enough?

SnowL2021 · 17/12/2022 12:08

@BCxx Thanks! They don’t offer transvaginal scans so it’s a good job I didn’t need one otherwise it would have been a huge waste of money! I drunk a fair bit of water beforehand (though not enough to be desperate) and the image popped up straight away!

AnnieApple123 · 17/12/2022 12:13

Great news @SnowL2021 !

See you all over on the new thread…

We are visiting my husband's parents for a week. We just found out that my mother in law has some heart problems related to coronary artery. She is going to do some more tests. But she is 80. Now I feel that we should tell her I am pregnant in case we don't see her again.

My plan was to have a scan at 10 weeks to see if I have twins so that I can choose a suitable nipt to do immediately after. But now I am thinking I should have a reassurance scan early so we can tell them. I am 6+2 today, I could probably be able to do a scan at 6+6 the latest while we are still with my parents in law. Will it be clear that I have twins at that point?

Alexandra07 · 17/12/2022 16:55

Oops I should probably post in the new thread!

AnnieApple123 · 17/12/2022 20:48

@Alexandra07 I’ve been looking into this specifically and unfortunately no, early scans aren’t entirely conclusive when it comes to twins. Firstly, ‘vanishing twin syndrome’ is not uncommon where a twin is present early on but then absorbed by the body. Secondly, at this stage one twin can hide behind the other and so isn’t visible until later on. This has been a major factor in putting off an early scan tbh.

If you want to see a heartbeat, it’s recommended that the earliest you go is 6+5.

Hope that helps.

@DesertSnow I have a scan on Saturday. Although I’m now debating whether it is too early and I should rearrange for a bit later.

AnnieApple123 · 18/12/2022 16:30

How far along will you be @MinnieFirstTimeMum ? I was recommended to wait until 6+5 to see a heartbeat.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 18/12/2022 16:44

@AnnieApple123 I will be dead on 6 weeks if I tracked my ovulation date correct.

@AnnieApple123 I will be dead on 6 weeks if I tracked my ovulation date correct.

In my experience that's too early to see a heartbeat. Not impossible, but unlikely

Lykoilover · 21/12/2022 00:10

Hi all, I am new to mumsnet as it was not about when I had my children 20 years ago! I have just found out that I am expecting again with my new partner and I couldn't be more scared and excited! I am 42yrs old and already have a 22 yr old and an 18 yrs old. I am due on the 16th August but have a scan booked for Thurs as a reassurance scan. I had a miscarriage last Nov at 6 weeks but this time feels different, every symptom possible is kicking my ass atm! I know this is such a good sign but I will still feel better once scan has been done. Is there any other older mums out there having scary thoughts such as am I just being the most selfish person by doing this??? 🙃
