@AnnieApple123 my SIL is sue in March with her second, her first is 18 months older than mine and they’re so close it’s lovely! Me and SIL were actually really good friends first for a good 8 years before I got with her brother 😅 So very excited to have babies growing up together again ❤️

AnnieApple123 · 29/12/2022 09:19

@Amme18 March to August is a really nice gap. I was discussing this with my mum the other day and she said she’d prefer there not to be TWO new August grandchildren ideally as she’d find it exhausting!

PumpkinEverything · 29/12/2022 09:23

Our daughter was born Oct 2021, and then my other BIL had a son in August 2022. Our new baby will also be august 2023, and then if BIL is (hopefully) expecting I would assume they’d be somewhere between June-July 2023! I’m happy my daughter has a cousin close in age already with the august baby 😊 my SIL has 3 kids, but the youngest is 9 so it’s quite a big gap. I’m the oldest on my side of the family and no signs of any kids for another few years at least from any of my siblings!

BCxx · 29/12/2022 11:18

@PumpkinEverything yeah I was drinking way more often while trying, especially after AF had arrived each month.. I just kept thinking ‘this could be my last’ 😂 One night we were at my mum’s and my husband had already had a cider so I said it’s fine il just have a soft drink since I’m driving. When I told my mum I was pregnant she was like ‘I knew it!’ and said about that night, I’m like I wasn’t even pregnant then, one of us had to drive 😂

BCxx · 29/12/2022 11:21

@PumpkinEverything thats nice your little one will have young cousins and a sibling. My sister and his sister are both young and single so a long way off from any children, I think that’s probably made me want a 2 year gap more because I wouldn’t like my son to be the only child in the family for ages as he grows up. We do have close friends as a couple who have a child born this year, so a year younger than my son and a year older than the next one but that year makes less and less difference as they get to 2/3 etc.

HRSC · 29/12/2022 11:25

Hello,

I hope you don’t mind me joining. I found out I was pregnant almost 2 weeks ago and according to my Natural Cycles app I’m 5weeks+4days. This is my first pregnancy and my husband and I were very surprised to get pregnant on our first go! I have my first scan booked for Monday when I will be 6weeks+1 (we don’t live in the UK - I am already with a doctor and she told me to book my first scan for 2 weeks after getting a positive test. I think things work a little different here to in the UK, for example your doctor delivers you not a midwife and you have many more scans).

The symptoms I’ve had so far are lots of cramps, MASSIVE & v sore boobs(!!!), feeling dizzy and totally exhausted - although waking up at the crack of dawn which is v annoying.

Last week I was feeling really anxious about miscarrying (2 friends miscarried earlier this year and my SIL had one last year) however after speaking with my SIL she made me feel so much better and said that I would def know if that was the case so feeling more relaxed now…

Excited about the scan on Monday although I know it may not show too much.
Sorry for the long rambling message, I have enjoyed reading your messages and seeing similarities with symptoms

Cat1424 · 29/12/2022 12:05

Has anyone noticed their symptoms coming and going throughout the day?

I’ve noticed on a morning I feel pretty rough (nausea etc) but by the afternoon it’s settled down to pretty much nothing. Just wondering if this is normal as pretty much all my other symptoms have gone other than the huge/ sore boobs and the tiredness.

I did manage to get a decent night sleep in between the toilet breaks last night for the first time in about 2 weeks but I somehow feel more tired today?

VickiGo · 29/12/2022 12:08

@Cat1424 I only feel really nauseous in the morning and evening, rest of the day I feel okay. Boobs are sore throughout the day, but not getting as many cramps as I was earlier on!

Yes I'm exactly the same, but got constipation which is making me feel uncomfortable and bloated. I'm 5 weeks. No actual sick yet just sickness on and off throughout

Cat1424 · 29/12/2022 12:14

@VickiGo how many weeks are you? I’m glad to hear that you haven’t got as many either, I’ve been worrying a bit as the cramps have pretty much gone and once the nausea has gone in a morning I feel fairly normal now, I just get small
waves of nausea throughout the day but they subside pretty quickly.

Cat1424 · 29/12/2022 12:16

@jjeanii I’m nearly 8 weeks and I haven’t had constipation but the bloating last week was next level, now I’m not sure whether it’s bloating or Christmas chub 😂 I’ve not been sick yet either, only started with the nausea about 3-4 days ago.

VickiGo · 29/12/2022 12:19

@Cat1424 hoping to have it confirmed when I go for a scan in a couple of days but my Flo app says 8+3. I woke up one night and my boobs had completely stopped hurting and I got really worried, next morning they started to hurt again so I think it can just happen with any symptoms. I've been reading (doctor google) that as you progress through the first trimester your body starts to cope with the symptoms of pregnancy so it may be that you just don't notice them as much. How far along are you?

somuchtolearnabout · 29/12/2022 12:21

My older sister is due first week of June and I'm due first week of August! She lives in Dubai already and we have found a villa that we love which is 10 mins away from her house so I'm hoping they'll grow up close together. Her and her husband started trying around the same time that we did (with our first!) so it's been a really tough few years for her while I've managed to have 3 children and she's struggled to have 1. Luckily we are very very close and I made sure my sisters were the first to know each time, and she is super close to the kids as well. But still very sad but I'm so so happy that she's finally having a baby.

@Cat1424 I basically don't have any symptoms, but that's not unusual for me. I always have sore boobs but with my first 2 I legitimately had 0 symptoms other than mildly sore boobs until I got later in my pregnancy and started getting heartburn. So when I used to hear everyone always discuss nausea etc it was totally alien to me! This time I do have an incredibly heightened sense of smell, but only related to food. I can't open the fridge, or change the bin, or load the dishwasher 🤢 but that's getting better already. I honestly don't even think there's such a thing as "normal"!

DesertSnow · 29/12/2022 12:23

Welcome @HRSC and any others I've missed.

Can't remember who suggested that baby name app where you swipe names but thanks for the recommendation, DH and I are having fun with it (though not actually agreeing on names 😂).

I currently feel like my pregnancy should be sponsored by salt and vinegar crisps, I find they're the best thing to ward off the sickness (at least for 5 minutes before it returns again).

Cat1424 · 29/12/2022 12:23

@VickiGo Ooh good luck for your scan! How are you feeling about it? Yeah mine hurt loads at the beginning but not so much now just when I lay on them for example. Hah doctor google 😂 According to LMP I’m 7+5, I’m going for a private scan on Monday so hoping that will put my mind at ease a little.

VickiGo · 29/12/2022 12:27

@Cat1424 feeling okay about the scan I think, I'm an anxious person at the best of times so I don't think I'd be able to wait until 12 weeks. Not expecting to see an awful lot but if I manage to see/hear the heartbeat I think I'll be alright 😊 I've just been referred to a gynaecologist by my GP because I've had high blood pressure since before I was pregnant so im hoping to get that sorted earlier rather than later! Best of luck for your scan on Monday, will be thinking of you 😊

Amme18 · 29/12/2022 12:33

@DesertSnow salt&vinegar Pringles or mccoys are my go to if I can’t stomach anything! And bread…can’t cope with any sandwich fillings so just butter 😅 super healthy with my full fat coke.

@somuchtolearnabout is Dubai a work
move or do you just love the place? Sorry if I’m being super nosey!

AnnieApple123 · 29/12/2022 12:35

Welcome @HRSC All the things you mention sound very normal.

@DesertSnow I’ve been enjoying that app too. Got a girl’s name definitely sorted now I think. Still struggling to narrow it down for a boy though.

I’ve eaten so badly this past week - Quality Street, Yule log, chocolate orange, marzipan fruits - and am feeling guilty now. I also feel the worst I’ve felt physically so far at 9.5 weeks and am wondering whether there’s a connection. I’m struggling to get back on-track though.

DesertSnow · 29/12/2022 12:47

@AnnieApple123 I'm 9+5 also and also feeling at my worst - it's my first pregnancy so nothing to compare it to but Dr Google says it's normal for nausea etc. to peak around now, so hoping it's all normal. I can't stomach anything sweet at all! And we have so much in the house post-Christmas. DH is taking one for the team and eating it all. He's had an entire Colin the Catterpillar in just a few days 😂

@Amme18 ahah another salt and vinegar worshipper! I never ever drink fizzy drink normally but actually think it might sit better in my stomach than the water is doing so might get some.

Sjw30 · 29/12/2022 12:47

I’m feeling guilty about how bad I’ve eaten too. It’s just been difficult with Christmas etc! Definitely need to get back on track.

HRSC · 29/12/2022 12:53

Thank you and to @DesertSnow too 🥰

Forgot to say that my SIL had a little girl in July and my 2 friends are due in Feb and April so there were happy endings :)

We are starting a big house renovation in the new year - praying it will all be finished by august as I’m not sure I’ll be too keen on bringing a newborn into a dusty house full of builders 😬 is anyone else embarking on anything like that?!

AnnieApple123 · 29/12/2022 12:55

@DesertSnow Good to know it’s not just me feeling rough at this point. I’d been thinking too that this is around the time when symptoms peak. I was very fortunate that my last pregnancy was incredibly smooth physically and I was barely aware of anything in the first trimester at all (there were times when I actually wished for some symptoms for reassurance).

@Sjw30 Glad I’m not the only one feeling guilty about Xmas indulgence either!

AnnieApple123 · 29/12/2022 13:02

@HRSC I don’t think that would be so bad with a newborn if the works overran, as long as you have one clear room you can stay in. Plus it will be summer so outdoors should be an option too. It’s

AnnieApple123 · 29/12/2022 13:03

It’s only once they get mobile that that could get tricky. You have a long way to go until then.

somuchtolearnabout · 29/12/2022 13:04

@Amme18 No no, nosey away! We have nothing to hide 😂 It's a bit of both to be honest. My sister has lived there for 17 years so we've always spent loads of time there, we visit a good 4/5 times a year anyway. We lived there for a year when we both graduated before kids etc but came back home for work. I don't work anymore and my husband owns his own businesses, and he's been trying to get me to go back for years. He's opened an office over there and a new branch of his business which will run from over there, but all his other businesses will remain here (he has a management team to run them here) so it's quite easy for us to come back & forth. We are keeping the house here too so I can come back and see my family / friends I want to, but I just figured why not - while the kids are still young & we can have a live in nanny over there (which we could never have here!) it seems like a good a time as any!
