Pregnant after ivf - 5 weeks

Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

• very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
• some morning sickness
• burping and gas
• bloated
• tiredness

Hooray!! Just reading the title makes me excited! How’s the sickness @Spink2022 ?
I have just hopped into bed and it is honestly the best feeling ever 😆

Wow really! You are getting so many symptoms already. At least it is a great reminder and reassurance that you have a bub in the oven eeekk!!

@Sezzza i know!! Tbh I think it’s all made worse by this weird cough I have! It’s just dry but I’m coughing so deep into my lungs! I’ve done 2 covid tests which makes a change from peeing on a stick 😂 I’ve heard of ivf colds so could be that?

Hi guys can I join in 4 plus 5 with my second ivf baby! Very nervous as haven't had any symptoms other than tiredness but my hcg levels have doubled twice this week 🙏 scan is 28th so will have to just be patient until then!

Hi @NS05 and congratulations on your 2nd successful ivf pregnancy. I am not far behind you at 4+3 which I only found out yesterday. My scan is on the 29th. When did you test?

Hi @Sezzza so exciting! I tested super early 5 days after transfer and got a faint line. With my son the first time around I didn't test until 10 days after just like the clinic told me to but I just wanted to know this time! When did you test? Is it your first?

I actually had a miscarriage in March (natural unplanned pregnancy) to my disbelief so I think that's made me more anxious but I do think this time they have chosen the best blastocyst and we are on all the right meds too so feeling v positive 🙏

@Sezzza also sorry just saw you tested yesterday 🙈 do your clinic do hcg bloods, mine make me do 3 two days apart but luckily am done with that now!

@NS05 I am so sorry about your miscarriage. Completely understandable that it has made you more anxious.

My clinic doesn’t do hcg bloods 🤔. Now I’m wondering why they don’t.

I naturally conceived my daughter 11 years ago so this is my first round of ivf. We were so lucky to fall first go. How about yourself?

@Sezzza oh interesting! Well tbh it just makes you more anxious all day waiting for the results so maybe it's better not to have them 🤣

Aw hopefully your daughter will have a sibling- so nice!

We did ivf 3 years ago due to MFI and were lucky to get 9 blastocysts and worked first time and then we used a frostie last month and luckily worked first time again so feeling super grateful 🙏 it is worth noting though we did this when I was 28 first time though and I have no issues so think that does help. I actually don't find the process bad physically I just find the emotional part/ waiting the worst!

@NS05 welcome! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I’m super anxious too so I feel your pain on that one!

this is my first round and I’m 29. I had 2 not quite blastocysts implanted. My scan is on 22nd. I really wish my clinic did bloods. I es soo tempted to buy some at home ones but I’ve left it too late now

I am getting my hcg tested tomorrow and Monday. Probably lead to more anxiety....!

@Bubbafever did you ask for you hcg to be tested or is it standard practice at your clinic?

Ah congratulations @Spink2022 @Bubbafever - mine gave me awful anxiety but my levels were super high yesterday so I actually feel quite confident. Just remember it's not what they start off at (my clinic just wanted it over 100 at the beginning) it's if it doubles within a 48 hour period. Good luck!

@Spink2022 no, I am doing it privately for peace of mind. My clinic just go by the test.

@Bubbafever who are you getting it done through? Is it expensive? I could only find at home kits but they take days to get the results and its only just for over a week for my scan anyway now. I hope you get some peace of mind from the results.

@NS05 what were your numbers? did you have strong lines on pregnancy tests?

@Spink2022 My clinic is the Evewell it's about £100 for a progestrone and hcg test (combined) you can get it there, or at the doctors laboratory in wimpole street, not sure if you are London based! You get the results in four hours. They keep upping my progestrone as it was 90 yesterday and they like it to be over 100 so it's quite good to see your levels. Mine were:
8dp5dt:172- did it early as got a positive 5dp5dt
10dp5dt: 397
14dp5dt:2907 (I couldn't go on day 12 as was busy at work)

My clinic like it to go to over 1000 and then they stop you doing them. They say it is a good way to know if the pregnancy is developing/has a good outcome so may be worth it for your peace of mind! Also good to know if your progestrone is ok!

I only tested at 5dp5dt and 7dp5dt first faint, next significantly darker but haven't done since! Hope that helps!

@NS05 thank you!! That jump on 14dp is amazing!!! I wish I had done mine. I’m not in London and there’s nowhere local that seems to do it.

i got really good line progression on my tests but I’d love some peace of mind from the numbers. I’ve got my scan in 10 days so I guess I will know then

@Spink2022 oh don't worry then I'm sure it's all fine and ten days is nothing to wait! I've got 16 days as my clinic only do it over 7 weeks which is so annoying but

i woke up not sick at all today so of course that is worrying me now but I know it can come and go!

@Spink2022 I've honestly had nothing but just a bit of tiredness the whole time but it just shows it doesn't matter about symptoms as mine were still rising! Def don't worry at all!
