Spink2022 · 11/11/2022 20:04

Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

  • very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
  • some morning sickness
  • burping and gas
  • bloated
  • tiredness

@Baggingarea thanks for kind words . @NS05 you will be able to relax a bit better now you are over 13 weeks ..hope the sickness isn’t too bad and wishing continued healthy progress for all .. hopefully I’ll get there next time 🤞🏽.. xx

NS05 · 10/01/2023 23:39

Thank you @hopefullsosbry hope you are feeling slightly better now, always here if you need to chat ❤️❤️

hopefullsosbry · 10/01/2023 23:49

Thanks .. am ok .. it’s weird you just get your head around your whole life changing and having this child to then have to get your head around not .. I think it’s the constant uncertainty of it every transfer .. getting hopes up etc .. we have booked a holiday for next month and I was referred to the NHS recurrent miscarriage clinic so I have an appointment with them end of the month so hopefully get further testing that the fertility clinic haven’t offered. We were also able to send what I passed in the miscarriage away to NHS to get tested so hopefully we get some incite into if it had abnormal chromosomes or anything wrong with it ?! We will put the last frozen blast in after we get the further testing and results etc so alls looking positive I guess .. a holiday and break from it all then back to it in a few months .. thanks again for support etc really appreciate it .. xx

NS05 · 11/01/2023 06:22

@hopefullsosbry yes it must be incredibly difficult but it's great that you've booked a holiday and are doing everything to ensure your next transfer works! I hope you have the best time away and manage to relax and unwind. Hopefully you will get some answers and be in a really strong position for your next FET ❤️

Spink2022 · 11/01/2023 09:53

@hopefullsosbry you have such an incredible attitude. I’m really glad you’re going on holiday and have a plan you’re happy with going forward.

I had my consultant appointment on Monday and it was mixed. They’re not concerned about the baby which is amazing but they are concerned about me because I have stage 3 endo and had a lap excision which was very deep in July they said I’m going to be in a lot of pain during the pregnancy especially as I get bigger. They said I will be able to take codeine and paracetamols but they want to regularly monitor me and make a birth plan at 28 weeks. They said because the endo surgery was for stage 3 as I grow the scars which are fresh will stretch and tear! I was completely shocked and taken aback by this as it was never discussed with me by my fertility consultant or the ivf clinic. They also should never have put 2 embryos back given the risks to me of 1. I had no idea this was even a risk so I’m still processing. I’m quite scared of how bad it will be because consultants in my experience don’t tend to acknowledge your pain and they hate giving medication to pregnant women so for them to tel me to take codeine and paracetamol makes me scared for how bad the pain will be but there’s nothing I can do about it. I am going to try and manage the pain holistically as best as I can and hope that my endo pain threshold will make it not feel as bad as I’m now expecting!!

im grateful that the baby won’t be affected but he did say we can’t try for another baby naturally because I need to go immediately on the mini pill as soon as I’ve given birth for the rest of my non menopausal life. I’m only 29 and was hoping to have more children but I know we are lucky to have 1. It was just a very overwhelming and shocking appointment and a lot to take in!!

@Spink2022 I would definitely get another opinion, my good friend had awful endo and had it removed right before a successful ivf and had twins. She was fine during pregnancy and has gone on to have another baby a couple of years later! She was never told anything like that. They do say the pill stops it from growing so to go on it until you want to conceive again but I've never heard anything else.

My best friend also had the worst endo the hospital had ever seen (discovered at birth) it took hours to get the baby out as they had to remove all the endo as it was like a belt covering the baby. After the removal she also had a baby two years later.

Hope you are ok and as I say I would def speak to your clinic ❤️

Spink2022 · 11/01/2023 10:22

@NS05 thank you that’s hopeful!! I really hope im fine during pregnancy. I did a little google after (mistake) and it said about risks of haemorrhage but not huge amounts about pain and I don’t know anyone else with it to find their experiences. I guess it’s a good things I’m being monitored and now if I do get the pain then I won’t freak out that something is wrong with the baby.

I also have significantly low ovarian reserve, damage to both fallopian tubes and a genetic ovarian disorder thing on one ovary so I think they’re taking that into account. They did say we could have ivf again but we just can’t afford it! It’s so expensive. We have talked about adoption in the past and i think we may revisit that route.

NS05 · 11/01/2023 10:33

@Spink2022 yes definitely don't worry yet as you might not even get any pain. Def just enjoy the pregnancy if you can!

Did you get any Frosties from your cycle? It is so expensive but my FET was much less than my original cycle (around 5k) I know that's still a lot though! Desp to get my savings up after moving to a new house and spending the money on ivf, will have to just be really careful on mat leave.

I always wanted to have 3 kids and luckily have embryos left but not sure I could afford another transfer with two kids and nursery fees etc! Anyway would be a few years so can assess then!

Spink2022 · 11/01/2023 10:47

@NS05 no we only got 2 eggs even on the highest doses they could give me and they extended stims to 14 days which they said is the most they could go to aswell. My body didn’t respond well and when they did the egg collection they found the meds made me produce cysts instead of follicles! I’ve never had cysts before too. So we were incredibly lucky to get pregnant from this round!

I can’t imagine how many eggs I’d produce in a couple of years time! so it doesn’t seem worth the hefty price tag given the low chance of it working and the damage to my body. I think we will just count our blessings with this one and look at adoption or fostering in the future because I think that is such a valuable route to go down aswell.

ivf is so expensive isn’t it! Plus then the costs of living, children etc!!! All because you have a medical condition.

have you started buying anything for the baby yet?

NS05 · 11/01/2023 11:36

@Spink2022 Uch that sounds very tough I'm sorry! You never know what will happen in future though so def don't give up and as you say you can look into other options. My friend just did ivf with an egg donor and was successful first time, there are lots of avenues.

No I'm way too scared to buy anything yet lol I'll wait until 20w, tbh I won't buy much as I have everything from last time. Have you?

Spink2022 · 11/01/2023 11:45

@NS05 we went looking at travel systems last weekend and found one we liked. We want to try it in my car before buying. I would prefer to wait until 20 weeks but my husband wants to start buying now so we might meet in the middle somewhere lol

Next week my app says baby can hear my voice and muffled sounds outside my body which is exciting!

Hi all,

having a mild panic attack over here as I have had some light brown discharge today in my underwear. Not much yet but it is similar to when I start my period so feeling very worried.

Currently 13+4 so I don’t know if this is normal at this stage? Has anyone else experienced this? They would have had me come in now, but as I am away until Sunday, need to wait until Monday. I am debating booking a private scan for tonight or tomorrow locally. Just to reassure me.

hoping anyone can reassure me a bit, but I have to say I feel sick to my stomach right now.

pizzawinecake · 13/01/2023 11:58

I have just had a very small amount of dark brown discharge this morning (after starting aspirin for low Papp-a, so not sure it's related). I spoke to a midwife and she said unless it's fresh and bright red she wasn't too concerned.

Obviously I'm still panicked but have read online it's relatively common so trying not to worry.

Germanlife · 13/01/2023 12:45

I have just booked a private scan for tonight, I’m on men for this trip so my dad who I am visiting has agreed to drive me there.

the whole process is stressful, you thing we are pregnant woohooo we crossed that hurdle but actually you just leap into 9 months of worry and that everything is going to be ok.

maybebaby2023 · 13/01/2023 16:37

@Germanlife please try your hardest not to worry, I had a bright red bleed at nearly 11 weeks and totally thought the worst. EPU refused to scan me for nearly a week as it’s that common. I managed to get a private scan that night and everything was fine, baby measuring ahead and no obvious cause for bleeding. I am sure you will be absolutely fine tonight, just such a worry though isn’t it ❤️

Germanlife · 13/01/2023 21:54

Hi @pizzawinecake @maybebaby2023 thanks for your comments. My scan looked good somit makes me feel much better.

it’s such a horrible feeling but at least I can enjoy my weekend now. 😘

maybebaby2023 · 13/01/2023 22:05

@Germanlife amazing news 🤗

NS05 · 14/01/2023 06:30

Just saw this @Germanlife so happy all is well with you and baby 🙏❤️

Geordielass91 · 29/01/2023 20:41

Hi hope everyone is well. Just wondering I stopped my pessaries tablets and lubion injections on Thursday and today I have slight cramping I am 12 weeks and have my scan on Wednesday but worrying this isnt normal. How was everyone else after stopping IVF meds x

NS05 · 30/01/2023 08:27

@Geordielass91 hey I didn't have this but have been cramping here and there throughout my pregnancy. As long as there isn't any bleeding I wouldn't worry! Good luck with your scan.

How is everyone getting on? X

Geordielass91 · 30/01/2023 08:37

Thank you for your reply it's stopped now but it was just the worry of it happening after stopping my meds. Hope your doing ok x

Miraclesdohappen88 · 30/01/2023 09:57

I stopped all my med on Thur too after reaching 12 weeks had some light cramping on and off too. I think as long as no bleeding all should be ok and could just be everything stretching and maybe wind. Hope everyone is well.

NS05 · 15/03/2023 11:29

Hey I know it's been a while! Just wanted to see how everyone is getting on?!

hopefullsosbry · 16/03/2023 07:27

Can I ask did anyone take pre conception vitamins before transfers , any good reviews for pragnacare multivitamins? Thanks

hopefullsosbry · 16/03/2023 07:30
