Pregnant after ivf - 5 weeks

Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

• very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
• some morning sickness
• burping and gas
• bloated
• tiredness

@Spink2022 I have a place nearby which does just blood test called Medical Diagnostics. They arent that expensive and come back in 4hours which is good. I have been using them for my progesterone levels as before this I never got to embryo transfer due to bleeding early which they attribute to low progesterone. You do not have long till your scan so probably not worth it!

Also is anyone on low dose aspirin? I read it can reduce miscarriage and just asked my doctor and he said he was happy for me to take 75mg a day. Don't know if I'm making a mistake adding more drugs but just want to take all the precautions this time!

I've had my first positive test following multiple rounds of ivf. I'm a few days since testing and in complete denial. No symptoms yet - should I keep testing? Congratulations to everyone on their positives

My levels are 179 at 12dp5dt. They say that is normal but I will wait till Monday where hopefully it increases!

@Bubbafever amazing news! My clinic say anything over 100 in the fourth week is fab. As you say all that matters is it doubles which hopefully it should 🙏

@NS05 im not on aspirin but my sister was for low pap A for her whole pregnancy. Not sure if that’s relevant??!

@Onethingiwantfor23 welcome to the group and congratulations on your positive!! I’ve seen so many people on here who didn’t have any symptoms. I think you need to think whether you’ll get obsessed with testing or if it will give you peace of mind? personally I tested for a few days after my OTD then stopped.

i might do a CB digital to see if I get 3+ Tomorrow because I got 2-3 last Sunday. But I’m also aware that they arnt very reliable so I’m still not sure.

i didn’t have any nausea all day and felt a bit worried then I ate dinner and immediately threw it all up 😂 need to be careful what I wish for! Tbh id rather be sick than feel nauseous. I also had to go and buy some new bras today because mine are cutting in where my boobs are so swollen.

Hello everyone, hope you don't mind me joining in 🤗I got my BFP 2 days ago at 8dp3dt. My official test date isn't until Wednesday 16th so I have to wait until then to inform the clinic. It was our first round, first BFP ever. Feeling very sick (and sheer impatience!) prompted me to test early. I also had quite a lot of shooting pains a few days after transfer, which I think must've been implantation. Weirdly, the sickness has eased off the last few days but I am vvvv hungry 24/7 and my boobs are still a bit sore 😅

Welcome @maybebaby2023! Congratulations on your positive! You’ve got the sickness early! That’s a great sign! My best advice atm is eat small meals often. Make sure there’s always something in your stomach. I’m VERY bad at taking my own advice and can’t keep a big meal down 😂 I was ravenous when I was about where you are. I would wake up at 6am with my stomach rumbling. Make the most of it and eat everything! Are you fancying anything in particular?

I chanced it and did the CB how many weeks and got the illusive 3+ weeks!! I’m 5+4 today and got 2-3 weeks on 4+4. The minimum threshold is 2753 up to like 100,000 hcg or some thing I’m feeling quite positive. I am also now completely done with pee sticks 😂

Amazing news @Spink2022 that's great! Ye I def would just wait until your scan now as your levels are right where they need to be. I'm not doing anymore at this stage!

@Spink2022 yep can totally relate with the 6am rises due to hunger! Weirdly the sick feeling seems to have parked itself for now and I’m just hungry 24/7. Not craving anything in particular, just anything and everything 🐷 I’ve had a little heartburn too, mostly in the morning

Thank you @Spink2022. I've ordered myself another test to do because I don't want to get to my scan and it not be there - if that makes sense.

I had some period like cramps last night and this afternoon I had a small amount of brown discharge when I wipe. Can't help but think the worst now. I did have some heartburn and a hormonal headache for a few days last week but that appears to have stopped. Frightened to do the test but I'll wait until tomorrow now because I know the morning wee's are best.

@Onethingiwantfor23 try not to worry too much about light brown discharge. Easier said than done I know. I had a very small amount of pink before my OTD and the nurse said it was likely from the progesterone application! She recommended using my finger if it happened again. Brown is old blood and when I spoke to the nurse she she said something like 50% of ivf pregnancies the bleeding of some form in the first trimester. Try and have a relax today. I totally understand your fears over the scam. Try to be kind to yourself

@maybebaby2023 eat away!! I havnt been able to keep a proper sized meal down. Have to eat little amounts. It all started with heartburn for me in the evening and an extreme amount of burping. 😂

I did google and it did say its normal but then there's the other bit to google where it says it's not normal
I'm on the horrid progesterone pessaries too! I'm hoping it's that. Ii went for a lovely sunshine walk this morning and am now chilling on the sofa with my feet up.

@Onethingiwantfor23 don't worry about brown spotting, I know easier said then done but I had it for four days with my son and two days this time! Funnily enough then only time I didn't get it was with my natural pregnancy in between which ended in a miscarriage! It's definitely old blood and could be the baby implanting deeper inside you.

For those that have had cramping, how long has this continued for you? I feel like I intermittently still have cramping but it’s not the same electric shock type cramps I had a few days after the transfer. It feels more like a dull ache. I haven’t had any bleeding but panicking that my period is somehow coming as it’s due Wednesday despite me having a pos test 😅😅 I thought implantation would have been completed by now?

@maybebaby2023 i feel little twinges every day randomly. More like a little twinge I notice rather than painful. I get it on both sides. But at early 4 weeks I was getting sharper shooting pains on my left side. I think it’s meant to be your uterus expanding or something

Hi ladies! I hope you are all doing well and enjoying being preggers…‘Up the duff’. 😂 my Aussie humour! Sorry I’ve been quiet, I am struggling with severe exhaustion and also, I feel a little low. I have no idea why and I am trying desperately to fight it. I think it’s because the TWW is so intense! I had a wonderful burst of energy this afternoon and blitzed my house 😂.

@Spink2022 how awesome that you got your 3+ on the test!! All seems to be going on the right direction.

@maybebaby2023 I had heaps of dull aches and weird shooting pains for a long time, especially leading up to when my af would have been due. I convinced myself that I was out but was so wrong!

A massive congratulations @Onethingiwantfor23 ! How wonderful for you especially after your long IVF journey. It’s really understandable that you would be nervous but I have read so much about blood in IVF being really common. Molly

@Spink2022 excellent news!!! The elusive 3+! I am holding till next week (my week 5) to test mine.

@Sezzza sorry to hear about the exhaustion. I am sleeping a lot more but that could be because I have severe insomnia since pregnancy. Everyday I wake up at 3 or 4ish.

@NS05 I have been on aspirin pre pregnancy but they really reiterated me taking it this.

Has anyone told their family yet? I told my mum and sister. It felt lovely but also warned them it is quite early. I was going to hold off till after the 6week scan but couldnt hold it in any longer. Plus needed mum's advice on the constant nausea. She suggested soda water so will report back if it works!

@Bubbafever my friend said soda water helps!! I’ve totally gone off food today after being sick with my breakfast. Just ate half a bagel just to eat something. We’ve told very close family and a couple of close friends. Waiting til 12 weeks for rest. I have found it so hard not to tell people because it’s been so all consuming! It’s so lovely telling people. I find it helps me be more positive and worry less about anything bad happening

@Bubbafever thanks good to know! I asked my consultant yesterday if I could take it yesterday as I read it can prevent miscarriage and he said he was happy for me to take 75mg at night so now I'm taking that too. He said it can't hurt and I know it helps with blood flow to placenta! Also I've told my mum and sister and best friend as they knew I was doing ivf so kind of had to anyway- we are super close so I tell them everything. I've only started a new job 3 months ago so will dread telling them in Jan as my boss is quite horrible anyway but can't worry about that now!

@Sezzza I've also been exhausted it's my only real symptom I've been napping all weekend! Sorry to hear you are feeling low I think it's all the hormones! Im now on 3 progestrone injections and 2 pessaries a day and I have been getting quite down with it as my tummy is so bruised but I know it's all worth it.

@maybebaby2023 I've had lots of period like cramps but remember this from last time it's def normal!
