Pregnant after ivf - 5 weeks

Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

• very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
• some morning sickness
• burping and gas
• bloated
• tiredness

My test today is a lot fainter than last weeks. I'm guessing that's not a good sign 😞 it was another first morning wee like last week. I'm still having some spotting too. I should be 5 weeks tomorrow. May give my clinic a call.

@Onethingiwantfor23 im so sorry. Definitely give the clinic a call and see what they say. Hopefully they said this is normal. Are you having any symptoms? Spotting isn’t bleeding so you might be okay still

i think I caught myself with my nail putting my pessary in this morn so have been bleeding a little 🙄

@Onethingiwantfor23 so sorry to hear! I would get booked in for some bloods if you can to put your mind at rest!

@NS05 it bloody stung but stopped bleeding now. Hoping the next pessary doesn’t set it off again

ive totally gone off food now. It tastes weird and im forcing myself to put something in my stomach every hour of so. Im normally a massive food person so it’s very disappointing 😂

how’s everyone feeling today?

@Spink2022 i feel like all my symptoms bar tiredness and sore boobs have gone for now. Woke up 6am, by 10am it was time for a 2hr sofa nap 😂. Hopefully you get your appetite back soon. It would make me so sad not enjoying it!!

I did another test this morning 11dp3dt. I’m a bit worried the line doesn’t seem to be getting any darker?! It’s probably the symptoms disappearing that’s making me panic a bit too and you hear so much about chemicals etc

@Onethingiwantfor23 I am so sorry, it must be so stressful for you. Like the others said, probably best to call the clinic and book in for some reassurance bloods.

@Spink2022 i wish I had lost my bloody appetite! I’m eating like a little piggy 🐷. Are you still feeling nauseous?

Is anyone else waking and having to go to the loo a million times throughout the night?! 😆

@Spink2022 I am the opposite haven't stopped eating! I've only still really got tiredness which worries me but I was the same with my son so need to not freak out! Can't believe I still have two weeks until my scan seems like forever!

@maybebaby2023 I think it does look slightly darker but honestly anything can effect them I wouldn't worry! Do your clinic to bloods at all?

@Sezzza I have been waking to go to the loo a couple of times so weird as it's so early I don't remember having that until much later last time!

Such a weird time as you know your pregnant and just kind of plodding along until the scan 🙈

@NS05 no unfortunately they just do the pos test and then the scan. I’m in two minds whether to get bloods done somewhere else or just try to stop panicking 🤔

@maybebaby2023 your lines look good!! It’s so difficult not to over analyse everything though isn’t it ❤️

I did another test this morning just to check I wasn’t dreaming. I’m pretty sure my very first test was a stronger line but I’m going with the fact that two lines is still good 😆

@Spink2022 I am not sure if I am mentioned but I have had insomnia for the past week...except today where I slept for ages! It felt so good. I woke up for my lubion injection and went straight to sleep.

My hcg level came in for today... it is 529 so more than doubled in the two days thankfully. I think I am going to stop all the testing now as it gives me such stress!!

Yay @Bubbafever so happy for you! Im not doing any tests either just waiting for my scan now! I hate lubion honestly they have me on 3 a day at the moment and it's so expensive 😭

Ahh so lovely to find a thread of people all at about the same stage as me. Congratulations and best of luck to you all. I'm 19dpt5dr I think (about 5 weeks) on our first try (after 5 years of unsuccessfully trying the conventional way). Had a positive test on day 14 but then I haven't tested since. I don't have my scan booked until 29th November so feels like a long wait! I've been having some cramping/aching and mild spotting which is a bit worrying but I called the clinic and they said it's very normal. The only symptoms I've had is strong sense of smell and hot sweats at night and sore boobs although I feel like I've had those since I started the pessaries.

Welcome @Sma7ljd and congrats! We are very similar in timings my scan is 28 nov so just waiting too. I've also had cramps, spotting etc and not many other symptoms at all so think it's normal. I had the same with my son a few years ago so trying not to stress about it (easier said than done)!

Thanks all. My clinic say they can't offer any blood tests but to test again in a few days. Will be the longest few days ever! Still spotting like coffee granules and have some small amount of tar like substance, cramping too.
No symptoms either.

@Sezzza definitely feeling nauseous but managing it with small amounts often. As long as I don’t set anything larger than 1/2 a bagel at once then im able to keep it down.

@maybebaby2023 i really don’t think you can look at tests one day after the next. I think its the jump every 2/3 days and yours definitely have that.

@Bubbafever great news about your hcg! How far along are you now?

i was eating everything in sight last week like all of you so I wonder if your sickness will hit next week or if you’ve escaped that joy!

its my scan a week tomorrow which feels like a manageable wait now. I’m just going to keep busy at work and keep reminding myself that I’m pregnant today!

@habiller welcome! Im a couple of days behind you. Sorry you’ve had such a time of it! This sounds so scary! As a non medical person I thought those numbers were good! Shows how little I know! my clinic doesn’t go hcg bloods. Would they expect to see a heartbeat at 5w? Im not really sure what they expect to see at timings my scan is next tues at 6w+6.

@habiller welcome! I've read so many threads about hcg levels and lots of people didn't get over double and were fine, really they say 70 percent within 2-3 days and it can vary so much! The important thing is that they are going up!

Also amazing they were in the right place! You wouldn't expect to see a heart beat until 6 weeks anyway! Don't want to scare you but I do know someone's hcg who didn't go up double and had 2 and it ended up being a vanishing twin and she ended up having one healthy child!

Fingers crossed it will all work out and those are still very good numbers!

I am currently 5+0 with our IVF baby, it’s the first time I have ever been pregnant.

I have been addicted to peeing on sticks and the line has got darker each day.

Symptoms wise I have had:

• Tiredness
• A little bit of Nausea (although the last two days less/none which is worrying)
• Gone off the taste of coffee
• I have also had a UTI in the last days
• Toilet habits have Defo been off!
• I have had cramping throughout normally mild
• The odd bit of lower back pain

I have my first scan on the 21st 6+0 and am excited / nervous at the same time.
I am sure I am overthinking things I am so scared of losing the baby that took us so long to create.

how is everyone getting on?

Hi @Germanlife welcome and congrats! I'm just a day ahead of you and had barely any symptoms other than tiredness and some cramping so don't worry at all!

So exciting your scans in a week, my clinic are making me hold out for two more weeks which feels like forever!

Hope you don’t mind me joining but I’m 4w5d after getting out positive on Saturday. This is my third pregnancy (two previous natural conception - both ended in miscarriage). This was our 4th round of IVF and I’m still in utter shock it worked - and extremely anxious about baby sticking!

Symptoms are sore boobs, tiredness, all food tastes bitter, bloating and cramping - it’s the cramping that worries me! But I think it’s okay as long as no bleeding?

Anyway, lots of luck to you all and fingers crossed for lots of 2023 babies 👶🏻 xxx

@Germanlife welcome!! Symptoms can fluctuate a lot in the first trimester aparantly. Also I was sick all weekend but havnt been today so it can defo come and go.

i did need a nap after work tho 😂

a 6 week scan is so exciting! Yours is the day before mine!

Hello again @Germanlife I didn't realise you're exactly 1 week ahead of me 😊

Our IVF clinic was 4 hours drive from us (we stayed near it during the treatment) so I'm not going to go back down there for the scan. We have booked a scan for 8 weeks at a local scanning clinic but I'm now thinking I want to bring it forward by a week as 12th December just feels too far away! I take it there's not a huge difference on likelihood of seeing a heart beat, would 7 weeks generally be ok (provided all's ok)?

@NS05 - it is Defo reassuring gongest other people don’t necessarily have symptoms. I think given our difficulties getting pregnant we overthink everything.

@Spink2022 i bet you are pleased you are not being sick today you poor thing. How are you feeling about your scan?

@maybebaby2023 wow 4hrs drive from your clinic. I complained about our 45min drive,,because it makes life difficult with work. I am not sure I could hold out for a scan until week 8. I believe you can hear the heart beat from week 7/8 the heart itself starts beating at 4+6 which is crazy!

@SunshineAndScience i think any symptoms are ok and also none! Which is why it is so hard not to compare because we all do it. How are you feeling? Do you have a scan booked yet?
