Pregant after miscarriage - support thread

Hi everyone,

I'm new to posting on mumsnet, but have spent plenty of time reading through others' conversations for reassurance when anxious, and this seems like such a friendly place!

I've just found out I'm pregnant again after the miscarriage of my first at 11 weeks in August. I would love to connect with other people in a similar situation.

I'm feeling relatively ok, i.e. not totally panicked all the time, about this one, but I know it's going to be hard. I really find it hard to believe sometimes that this could work out.

Please send a comment if you're in a similar situation and would like to share/receive some support!

@Nervousbuthopeful good luck with the upcoming scan. So sorry @Daniki ❤️@rach971 hope the EPU are helpful tomorrow and you can get some reassurance

tulipsunday · 27/11/2022 17:39

Anybody having issues with lower back pain? Feels like period cramps. Seem to have it all the time. Think it is hormone related

ChloeN · 27/11/2022 17:41

@tulipsunday mine comes and goes, I had a back ache yesterday then belly ache today. I’m really struggling to go to the loo (💩) but need a wee all the time which I’m pretty sure is not helping matters

Beapo · 27/11/2022 17:41

@Daniki I'm so sorry to hear this, sending hugs x❤️

@tulipsunday Yes I've had dreadful cramps, but trying not to let it bother me as I've had no spotting this time round so figured it wasn't anything to worry about, could be totally wrong but it's keeping me sane thinking that for now 🙏

Nervousbuthopeful · 27/11/2022 17:56

@Daniki , I'm so sorry you have to go through this! I hope you get to speak to someone kind and helpful at the EPU first thing tomorrow morning! And @rach971 , same to you, and so sorry you have to go through this anxiousness! Will be thinking of you both and hoping for the best.

@B1993 Thanks for your outrage on my behalf 😊! It was just that my baby was measuring two whole weeks too small, which I knew couldn't be good (though some of the reassuring stories I sent to you did later give me hope), and the sonographer was just very breezy about it, saying my dates must be off, etc, but like you, I had measured absolutely everything and knew they couldn't be. She kept exclaiming, 'aw, it's so teeny tiny!' as she was looking at the image, as though I was supposed to be reassured by its extra-small cuteness...

Thanks @tulipsunday !

I haven't had cramps, but a good friend of mine who is now starting her third trimester had such bad cramps she was virtually bed-bound for several weeks--doctors said it must just have been her uterus stretching!

Oh really @Nervousbuthopeful hope mine don't get that bad 😬 so tired today... not sure if pregnancy related or due to toddler being hard work as not 100%. Think I might actually just go to bed now 😃 😴

Beapo · 27/11/2022 20:10

@tulipsunday You're not alone there! I feel absolutely drained, I slept most of yesterday 😱

mm1998 · 27/11/2022 20:49

@Daniki praying for you ❤️

rach971 · 28/11/2022 09:02

Thanks everyone ♥️ I've phoned EPU this morning and they said they'll scan me on 8th December. They said it's too early yet so they wouldn't see what they needed to see anyway, but that if it is a viable pregnancy, they'll see it when they scan me on the 8th. She wants me to do a pregnancy test the day before the scan in case it's a chemical, and phone them with the result either way. So it'll now be an anxious 10 day wait 😬

ChloeN · 28/11/2022 09:08

@rach971 oh god that seems ages 😔 have you still got the bleeding this morning?xx

rach971 · 28/11/2022 09:16

@ChloeN Literally 😫 I'm really hoping time will fly by! I'm still spotting a bit. It seems to be worse after I've done more which worries me a bit 😬 Like it started on Saturday after I'd been shopping and carrying heavy bags. Then I spotted quite a bit yesterday after I got home from a day at work. There's not too much this morning. Just nervous of the outcome really. I spotted for a week and a half in my last pregnancy, baby was fine through all that, then it stopped for a few days, then I got pink spotting and that's when the mmc happened so 😫 She did reassure me on the phone saying spotting can be completely normal, symptoms can come and go etc. But yeah 😫

ChloeN · 28/11/2022 09:34

@rach971 do you think it can be one of those cervical things? (Can’t remember what they’re called but heard people say it happens when they do anything🤦🏻‍♀️) are you nearly 6 weeks now? Xx

sian124 · 28/11/2022 14:52

Hi everyone,
Can I join you all, please? :) I am 5+0 after three losses this year (CP, MC, and ectopic) and so, so desperate to keep this baby. All is going well so far and I'm on progesterone this time which has helped me psychologically, but it's so hard to stop the negative thoughts (as I'm sure you all know). I was tentative about posting because I also had the heartache of deleting the pregnancy apps, etc, earlier this year, but I'm determined to try and "get into" this pregnancy and enjoy it as much as is possible with other like-minded folk :)
Sian

ChloeN · 28/11/2022 14:56

@sian124 so sorry for all your losses, must of been a really hard year for you😔 I feel apprehensive about changing apps to pregnant too but like you I really want to enjoy it because it’s what I’ve wanted for so long!

Daniki · 28/11/2022 15:24

Unfortunately I miscarried yesterday, knew it myself but had it confirmed today in the EPU.

I will be hopeful for future pregnancies and the doc said in my next pregnancy at my first early scan if there's a heartbeat I can go on progesterone as iv had 2 concurrent losses .

Wishing you ladies all the best ❤️

sian124 · 28/11/2022 16:20

@CChloeN I'm sorry you've been through it all too. Are you managing to stay calm?

sian124 · 28/11/2022 16:23

@Daniki I'm so sorry. If you are near the Midlands and would like the name of an excellent private consultant, please let me know and I'll forward it on (I have seen one this time and wish I had made an appointment with him sooner, he's been so helpful).

Daniki · 28/11/2022 16:29

@sian124 thanks Sian, but I’m based in Ireland I doubt you mean the midlands here?😅

sian124 · 28/11/2022 16:31

@Daniki Ah, unfortunately I'm in England. Sorry. Thought it was worth a mention just in case xx

Daniki · 28/11/2022 16:36

@sian124 thanks anyway ❤️

ChloeN · 28/11/2022 16:55

@Daniki So sorry to read your update, I know you’re probably not okay but I hope you’re holding up alright and I’m sending lots of love❤️

@sian124 yes and no 🫣 I feel a lot less anxious than I thought I would but im still scared at the same time! I don’t think that anxiety will go away until the baby is born tbh, I’m such a worrier in general!xxx

theblueflowers · 28/11/2022 17:05

Hi all,
I'd love to join please-feeling a little lost! Currently 10 weeks after two miscarriages this year. I'm the furthest I've got, have had two positive scans, but still holding my breath every day. I got told by my midwife that I have a UTI which has thrown me slightly as I have no symptoms. Going to be starting antibiotics tonight.

Hope everyone is doing okay x

ChloeN · 28/11/2022 18:31

@theblueflowers were you on the ttc after mc thread? I feel like I recognise your name☺️ that’s odd about the uti, they’re normally the devil! Xxx
