Cramping and spotting 5 weeks

Crushed as I write this, had some cramps earlier which were very much like medium AF cramps. Lasted about 15 mins then went away, now a hour later I’ve some light pinkish/brownish spotting but cramps have completely gone.

I’m dreading the worst, last cycle I had a chemical at 4 weeks 3 days. Was just starting to get a little excited thinking lightening couldn’t strike twice. Any one have any similar experiences either good or bad? I’m anxious that as the spotting happened so soon after the cramping that it could end up being another loss but on the other hand I’d assume I’d still be cramping if it were?

@Moosh18 think it’s over for me. Had some really bad AF cramps and have started red spotting again. Gutted

@TTCournumberthree oh noooo! I really really hope not! Can you get to an epu?? They will see you if you are having pain and bleeding? How bad is it? X

TTCournumberthree · 02/11/2022 20:38

@Moosh18 cramps coming and going and quite sore but not enough to rush in tonight. Spotting only light atm but I do think it is gonna be a miscarriage. No way these cramps are normal.

Calling EPU in the morning if they continue to rule out a ectopic

@TTCournumberthree so sorry you're going through this. Just to offer a positive story, I've so far had four massive bleeds with really bad cramping but despite it all, I saw a happy 8 week blob with a heart beat on the screen this morning. All four bleeds I mourned the baby I thought I'd lost, I was convinced it was over every time. The midwife told me today that cramping, spotting and bleeding in early pregnancy are very common. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it's a positive outcome. Sending you lots of strength during this stressful time!

Moosh18 · 03/11/2022 07:29

@TTCournumberthree I hope you are okay and managed to get some sleep. Xx

peanutbutterontoast7 · 03/11/2022 07:39

Sending you lots of love today OP you must pushed to get seen!

TTCournumberthree · 03/11/2022 08:08

@RaliaMusca so sorry to hear that you had to go through that worry, I can’t imagine the relief you felt! My bleeding hasn’t been a lot, I’d say last night was size of 2 £2 coins and a pinky red no clots and that was it back to barely there light brown discharge.

No more cramps this morning and no more spotting, calling the EPU once the kids are at school. I’m more concerned that there’s another issue such as eptopic or fybroids. My mum had to have a hysterectomy due to fybroids, I’m mid 30s now so it could be a possibility

@Moosh18 @peanutbutterontoast7 no more cramps no more spotting. Just got off the phone from EPU they point blank refuse to see me before 8 weeks unless I’m soaking through pads or in extreme pain. Suggested that it could be because of my 2 previous Caesarean sections and the scaring is causing the bleeding and cramping.

Booking in for a private scan on Monday at 6 weeks exactly.

Moosh18 · 06/11/2022 15:53

@TTCournumberthree how you doing? Xx

TTCournumberthree · 07/11/2022 08:32

@Moosh18

No more red spotting but still cramping every day, I’m getting a bit constipated so could be linked to that too. Going to hold off till the 8 week scan unless things get worse, I couldn’t bare to have the anxiety if nothing is visible at 6 weeks.

did you have a scan? Xx

OP posts:
Moosh18 · 07/11/2022 08:45

@TTCournumberthree I'm not cramping but I've had a little bit more pink yesterday just once them nothing but it really scares me, still being sick and so tired, scans this Friday at 8 weeks x

TTCournumberthree · 07/11/2022 09:28

@Moosh18 keeping everything crossed for you. I just keep reminding myself that it is common to have spotting and cramps and that it’s not a full bleed.
Is this your first pregnancy? I can’t remember if you said or not x

Moosh18 · 07/11/2022 09:57

@TTCournumberthree I really hope so 😩 no it's not but I never had any bleeding or anything in previous, I had a mmc in June at 12 weeks and it's terrifying me it will happen again, I didn't have any symptoms in that pregnancy so hoping it's a good sign I'm so sick! X

TTCournumberthree · 07/11/2022 10:15

@Moosh18

I think it is a good sign. I didn’t have any sickness with my little boy just queasy now and then but I did have sickness for a few weeks with my little girl.

I also had a little brown spotting with my little boy at about 7 weeks so I’ve got that to hold on to and be positive about. The only thing that’s helping right now is to try and keep myself distracted x

Moosh18 · 07/11/2022 10:27

@TTCournumberthree oh really, I do know they say it's common but the only time I had it is when I had my mmc. My midwife said it's nothing to be concerned about but it doesn't help does it x

TTCournumberthree · 07/11/2022 11:38

@Moosh18

no nothing helps until you see that heartbeat. I didn’t get these type of cramps with my previous 2 nor did I have red spotting which is what’s scared me. I’ve read thread after thread and I do have to say that most with just spotting do seem to have a positive outcome xx

Moosh18 · 07/11/2022 11:55

@TTCournumberthree yes! A lady I have been speaking to had red spotting and cramps, she's just had a scan and all is perfect! I do the same I read and read things, but it doesn't help, as I feel I read a bad for every good x

TTCournumberthree · 07/11/2022 13:11

@Moosh18

We’ve caved and booked a private scan for tomorrow.

Had a few cramps on and off this morning and for peace of mind that it’s not ectopic we’re gonna go in xx

TTCournumberthree · 07/11/2022 13:12

@Moosh18 you can definitely read too much. If I get to the end of a thread with a bad outcome it’s so upsetting. Would be a ideal world if pregnancies that wouldn’t have a good outcome just wouldn’t catch to begin with xx

Hi I’m going through the same now at 6 weeks and out of my mind. What was your spotting like if you don’t mind me asking? I have a scan tomorrow too - crossing fingers for us both. My tests are still dark and before in previous chemicals they faded out. It’s such a mind f* :(

TTCournumberthree · 07/11/2022 20:59

Hi @bubble55 to sorry to hear you’re going through this.

Last Sunday I had a little period like cramping a hour later pink spotting followed by a little red spotting, not a thick deep red but more a dark pink red. It wasn’t a lot only when I wiped and it quickly turned to a brown discharge. No actual clots with the red and yellow brown was very similar to the end of a period. 3 days later same cramps but stronger then followed by the same pink red spotting only when I wipe and quickly turned brown. Fast forward 5 days later I’ve been having at least 2 period type cramping episodes a day but no more spotting at all. I’m definitely a little constipated I’m hoping that’s a factor with the cramps.

i haven’t tested anymore I had that panic last week when they got lighter than darker again when I tested the hook effect theory. Was sending me crazy!

Best of luck for your scan tomorrow, it’s so worrying isn’t it not knowing what’s happening with your own body x

Wannabemo · 08/11/2022 11:37

I am going through the exact same thing !!!

hope you ladies are all alright and have sticky beans in there, what a anxious time.

iv had spotting for a week on and off with cramps here and there, mixture from brown and pink spotting.

miscarriaged end of September and not had a proper period since. Tested positive yesterday but unsure if itl continue and unsure of how far along I am🥹 x

Moosh18 · 08/11/2022 12:43

@TTCournumberthree hope everything goes well today, what time is your scan? Xx

TTCournumberthree · 08/11/2022 13:39

@Moosh18

Good news!

Measuring bang on my dates 6 weeks 1 day, very good blood supply around the gestational sack, yolk sac seen and heartbeat. Was too early to measure the heartbeat but the lovely ultrasound technician said that everything looks brilliant at this stage and she was seeing everything that she would like to.

I do have a cyst on my left ovary which is very normal she said that could attribute to some of the cramping but that is normal. She couldn’t find anything that could have caused the spotting but again said that even though it’s not normal it is common.

feeling much more relaxed, still intend on going to the 8 week scan with the NHS to double check that baby is growing as should xx

TTCournumberthree · 08/11/2022 13:42

@Wannabemo so sorry you’re going through this too. It’s so worrying.

If it’s any help we’ve had good news today at a private ultrasound appointment; if you’re far enough along I would definitely recommend it to check what’s happening x
