Hi everyone, hope everyone who's already had their rainbow babies is doing well 🙏

I'm now 14 weeks with my double rainbow (which will be my first baby), I sobbed so much during my 12 week scan they had to pause whilst I calmed down 🙈

I've come here hoping to seek a little bit of advice from people who have been through pregnancy before. I've been getting a fair amount of cramps throughout which worried me a lot initially but after my scans were good I settled into knowing they're just good growing pains (and I have endometriosis so probably makes it worse).

But over the last 48 hours the cramps have amped up so much and been really quite uncomfortable. I haven't resorted to paracetamol yet as I want to keep an eye on it. I've also had a tiny bit of yellowish discharge yesterday and today.

I've messaged the midwife and called the GP, they've taken a urine sample and I'll get the results on Monday.

I'm now wishing I'd asked them to take a vaginal swab too because of the discharge, so maybe I'll go back tomorrow.

Anyway I wanted to ask if anyone else had experienced something like this? A sudden amp up in the discomfort of cramps as you started your second trimester?? Because I'm basically hoping and praying that it's just growing pains..I have no symptoms of a UTI at all, it's just pevlic pain and pressure, it feels pretty periody, plus the yellow discharge. I'm working hard at not completely freaking out after two losses 🙈 so just looking for words of comfort really... Thank you 🙏

barneymcgroo · 02/12/2022 20:03

@Tor88 That's sounds tough, particularly after two losses. How are you doing now?

I remember having lots of strange feelings. Not cramping, necessarily, but odd stretching, and definitely got me worried.

This bit between scans and definite movement is so hard. I know lots of people had extra scans for reassurance. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

@Tor88 I had a lot of cramps in my first and early in my second trimester, I think it was just when I/baby was growing but it worried me a lot every time naturally. In fact, it was at its worst around 13/14 weeks and I had tests done for a UTI just in case but they were negative. Take paracetamol for the pain and I found a hot water bottle helped me if it was particularly bad at night ❤️

I'm 35 weeks tomorrow, don't know where the time is going! Getting comfortable at night (or any time) is a challenge now, at this rate I think I'll sleep better with a newborn 🙈 need to start getting my hospital bags ready!

Tor88 · 04/12/2022 10:00

@barneymcgroo @Sassy144 thanks so much for your replies 🙏 It's been the most hideous week ever but I think it might all be ok...

I've had cramps throughout this pregnancy but they suddenly jumped up on the pain scale and were really constant for 5 days, I even got woken up by them at 3am Friday morning. I was so sure it was a miscarriage starting and lay in the bathroom sobbing hysterically for hours 🙈

The next morn I spoke to the midwife again and she suggested a self referral to the early pregnancy unit for a check so I did that but I still haven't heard back (and results for UTI test come on Mon), BUT from Friday afternoon until now the cramps have massively eased up and are feeling much like they did for the first 3 months of pregnancy, so I'm feeling so so much better. I think surely if it was impending miscarriage the pain wouldn't let up? And no blood (despite my constant checking!).

So I'm slowly calming down but my god, pregnancy after loss is the hardest, hardest thing. Does it get easier?! Im sort of feeling now that I'm basically going to be on extremely high alert until I'm bringing the baby home?!

Thanks again so much for replying I really appreciate it, what a rollercoaster ride we're all on eh! ❤️🧡Xxxx

Sassy144 · 04/12/2022 11:28

@Tor88 I was the same, the pain was waking me in the night and I was so so scared. It eased after a few days, but I understand the worry after previous loss. In my experience it does get easier, slowly. I felt better when I could feel baby move. Each day you are one day closer to meeting your baby ❤️ I still have worries at this stage of course, but I'm not on high alert any more like at the start.

Skl2021 · 04/12/2022 14:46

@Sassy144 your so close now 🤞🙊 are you next one in line now to have baby on this group? X

B1993 · 04/12/2022 15:55

@Tor88, I'm due around the same time as you I think - I recognise your name from the due June '23 board. But I have noticed really painful cramping with this pregnancy. I looked into it and it's supposedly normal for it to be worse than previous pregnancies. With my son, the pain definitely seemed milder.

@Sassy144, the end is in sight now! Is this your first baby?

Sassy144 · 04/12/2022 19:47

@Skl2021 @B1993 not long now! Time feels like it's going fast and slow at the same time. In full nesting mode now and can't wait to finish work 😴 yeah it's my first baby 🥰

Tor88 · 05/12/2022 15:33

@Sassy144 thanks so much 🧡❤️ Im feeling a tonne better still as the cramps haven't come back and the nausea and heartburn have! I'm going to the EPU tomo and they're gonna have a listen for a heartbeat (via a doppler I assume) so that'll be reassuring ( I hope!!!), then only 15 days to wait after that for my next scan...

Tor88 · 05/12/2022 15:35

@B1993 thank you 🙏 Third pregnancy but first time I've made it this far so they're more like first pregnancy cramps I guess. Im assuming having endometriosis makes it worse, who knows..I've cramped throughout but it's alarming when anything changes isn't it! And these felt so different. But anyway, all over now I hope.... Hope you're doing well 😘 And yes due June '23 also 🧡

Sassy144 · 05/12/2022 20:09

@Tor88 so glad you're feeling better and getting to hear baby's heartbeat will be great, I remember that sigh of relief the first time we heard it after worrying 🥰 and not long until your scan!

Skl2021 · 06/12/2022 08:07

@arianasky how are you doing ❤️ xx

sunnyd67 · 06/12/2022 19:54

@Tor88 how did it go today?

Tor88 · 07/12/2022 09:11

@sunnyd67 everything's fine!! Thanks for asking 🧡 they were lovely at the EPU (and it was amazing leaving that place with good news rather than bad!). They listened to heartbeat on doppler and said it's most likely a flare up of endometriosis which can happen during pregnancy apparently. They've said I should go back next week for another check which is v kind of them, one more whilst I can still use them before the 16 week mark next Fri! So I am feeling a tonne better to know that bubba is definitely still going at 14+5. Last night I finished my last cyclogest pessary though, so I expect I'll now feel anxious about that instead 😅😂😂

sunnyd67 · 07/12/2022 12:57

@Tor88 I'm glad everything went well. Ohh, I remember cyclogest, it caused me so much anxiety 😫😫

Tor88 · 07/12/2022 20:45

@sunnyd67 did coming off it cause you anxiety?? I've not enjoyed it all but at the same time now that it's done 😅😅

calimc83 · 08/12/2022 07:23

Morning! Hope everyone is well? I was just wondering if anyone has been abroad whilst quite heavily pregnant? We go away end of next week ( I'll be 27 weeks). Wondering if it's worth booking extra leg room on the flight? Also a bit anxious of something going wrong out there or having an episode of reduced movements and if so what to do?! Argh! 😬 xx

barneymcgroo · 08/12/2022 22:40

@calimc83 how long's the flight?

OP posts:
calimc83 · 09/12/2022 08:43

@barneymcgroo around 4.5 hours x

barneymcgroo · 09/12/2022 12:26

I did a pretty long drive at 32 weeks - was fine. And I suppose you'd be able to get up and stretch your legs a bit if you needed.

Re reduced movements - not been in this situation, I'm afraid. I spent weeks away from home when I was heavily pregnant, but still in this country.

@calimc83 no help sorry but going anywhere nice? 🏖️🌞🙊 get away from this miserable weather!! X

calimc83 · 09/12/2022 22:13

@barneymcgroo I'm probs panicking over nothing, I think that's what pregnancy after loss does 😫 to you! @Skl2021 we're off to the Canary Islands! Cant wait for some sun..just praying we don't get one of the many hideous bugs that are circulating at the mo before we go! 🙈 xx
