I've just found out I'm expecting my second baby the first week of June 2023 - anyone else? Early days, so being cautious, but can't help feeling excited!

Ladies I'm really worried. Iv just been for a wee after a long time today as I haven't been drinking enough, and my underwear is full of dark blood, not spotting, actual blood. Iv never experienced this with my other 2 pregnancies. Im so scared, do I contact the maternity unit? Im 8 weeks on Friday not even been booked in yet

B1993 · 19/10/2022 21:31

@tigerlily0 I'm so sorry your going through this. 💔💔 I've been there and it's really scary!!

It could be the start of a miscarriage, or just a scary (but harmless) part of a normal, healthy pregnancy.

You'll need to contact EPAU in the morning and they'll book you in for a scan. They do normally say that, if the bleeding is accompanied with really painful cramps, got to A&E.

I hope you got some reassuring news soon - please come back and update when you can. I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you. 🤞🏻

CaliGirl47 · 19/10/2022 21:34

I’m so sorry to hear that @tigerlily0 that sounds very frightening. Hopefully the fact it is brown blood (and not bright red) means it is old blood..but any blood is scary, I know. You could try ringing your local early pregnancy unit but I have a feeling they are only open during the day. Depending on your circumstances I personally might be inclined to head straight to A&E or you could ring 111 and see what they recommend. So sorry you are going through this. Hopefully it is nothing and just some old blood from placenta forming/baby burrowing. 💗💗💗

tigerlily0 · 19/10/2022 22:55

I called maternity unit but they transferred me to gynae. She said keep an eye on it and if it soaks 2/3 pads in an hour then to go a&e. I don't have have any cramping thankfully and iv been so sick all day, and still am. It was such a shocker to see though, and I hope it's as you say- just latent old blood coming thru.
Sorry it must be quite distressing for some of you who have been thru this, can understand what it feels like. Going to stay positive and get some sleep. X

Tawny2022 · 20/10/2022 06:36

Hi @tigerlily0 i hope you’re feeling better and managed to get some sleep, it must have been very upsetting for you. Hope you get into see someone today xx

B1993 · 20/10/2022 07:36

@tigerlily0 I hope you managed to get some sleep and the bleeding hasn't progressed.

I'd still give EPAU a call this morning and hope they can fit you in for a scan today.

Please keep us updated 💜

I hope everyone else is doing well!! My toddler decided 5:15am would be the ideal
time to get up this morning so feeling like a walking zombie right now.

I feel like my symptoms are lessening and it's making me super anxious!! Even my boobs don't seem to be hurting this morning and I don't feel even the slightest bit nauseas. 😨 I'm absolutely terrified that something's not right, despite seeing a strong heartbeat just last week. I haven't felt any cramping (which again, seems strange since it's been constant!) or had any bleeding so I'm trying to remain positive but also know that doesn't always mean much....

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 20/10/2022 09:17

@B1993 I get that x it's horrible feeling so anxious. I'm hoping my scan tomorrow brings good news. Had a bit of pulling and cramping this morning.

@tigerlily0 Hope you're ok x sorry for what you're going through. I hope you can get a scan to make sure everything is alright.

Rose785 · 20/10/2022 09:20

@theodora2146 best of luck today! I will be thinking of you x

tigerlily0 · 20/10/2022 10:10

Hi ladies, thank you. Iv not had a big bleed since last night. More just brown discharge now so I'm hoping it's ok. So worrying because it makes you question if you've done anything wrong or what caused it. Il give epau a call anyway and see what they advise. X

theodora2146 · 20/10/2022 10:35

All good ladies, they dated me at 6 weeks based on the measurements. Saw the heart beating 💓 got a scan in a couple of weeks to check everything is still looking good. But currently all is well!

@theodora2146 what a relief! SO HAPPY! Are these all private scans you are going to? I am so tempted to go for a scan at the weekend (will be 6W) But feel I should really hold out to 8W so there will be more to see.

@tigerlily0 glad you are feeling better today. I hope it all turns out to be ok. x

These are NHS scans cause I had some pain and was worried about ectopic, so they were really good and just got me in for a scan for reassurance 😊

TrulyMiss · 20/10/2022 11:13

Morning all! I'm a bit anxious as my resting heart rate on my Fitbit has gone down quite a bit over the last two days. I'm trying to be positive as I know its just an indicator and also that Ive changed things which could cause this - no booze since the weekend, way less caffeine, started meditating. I've also got good life progression I think. But I'm still worried. Has anyone heard of a good outcome in these circumstances?

Hi everyone,

Pregnancy is such a stressful time, sorry to read about the scares people are having.

I’m only 5+1, all going well this would be #3 for me & DH.

I’ve a September 2020 baby and a September 2008 baby 😅

This came as a big surprise, still breastfeeding my toddler and we hadn’t planned on adding to the brood.
My pregnancy with DD2 was very stressful as I found out I’d have to get a cerclage placed at 13 weeks due to treatment for precancerous cells on my cervix in the past. I then haemorrhaged twice on delivery - eek

Because of all this I really take pregnancy as one day at a time - the short cervix thing really detracts from the joy of it but feeling very fortunate too.

I’m almost 35 (November) so considering the Harmony test this time around, do people recommend it? I’ve read a lot of mixed opinions.

Dotty23 · 20/10/2022 12:49

Hi everyone,

Im 7w+2 and really struggling with nausea and (sorry!) bloating/painful gas throughout the night and into early hours.

I managed to get a doctors appointment as I’ve been off work all week and they’ve just got sympathy and told me they’re not specialists and to carry on 😓 They suggested Gaviscon and this isn’t working.

I’m currently waiting for my midwife referral to go through and be contacted.

Any one else in the same boat? Tips?

Thanks

Thank you! Xxx

Confused31 · 20/10/2022 16:56

Have had some light bleeding - fairly bright red - but figure there's no point calling the EPU unless it becomes heavy - is that what others would do? I had a bit of cramping for about 10 minutes before it started so feel like it's not very positive!

Confused31 · 20/10/2022 17:15

Also great scan @theodora2146
@Dotty23 I've been very bloated as well and have found that walking is the only thing that helps, even if it's up and down the hallway at 6am ha!

Tor88 · 20/10/2022 17:16

@Confused31 im so sorry - I would call the EPU right away, you want to get the ball rolling on a referral for a scan asap xx

B1993 · 20/10/2022 17:23

@Confused31 How far along are you again? If you're less than 6 weeks, it's pointless calling EPU ad they'll tell you it's too early to see anything and just take a test in a week to see if it's still positive.

If you're past 6 weeks with bleeding and pain, they'd most definitely offer a scan.

Good luck, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! 💖

B1993 · 20/10/2022 17:30

@theodora2146 Great news! You're very lucky to be offered a follow up scan too!!

@TrulyMiss, I don't know about heart rate etc. but lube progression looks good so if take that as a postive sign!!

It sounds like your last pregnancy came with its challenges @Síomha - hopefully you'll have an easier time of it this time around.

How are you feeling today @tigerlily0? Did EPAU offer you a scan?

Confused31 · 20/10/2022 17:32

I'm 5+6, have actually already had a scan because I had some early pain and suspected ectopic (they saw the sac though so not ectopic). Leaning towards calling in the morning but will sit on it for 10 min (they close at 6!)

Confused31 · 20/10/2022 17:32

As in, calling if there's any more

tigerlily0 · 20/10/2022 17:42

@B1993 turns out we don't have an epau type ward. I just have to call gynae , I called them and they said it's most likely old blood and to keep an eye on it over the next few days. Not very reassuring , and still getting dark discharge. Sat here wondering if it's to do with my thyroid, I haven't even been referred yet to endo.

Maybe Theyr thinking there's nothing they can do anyway and let nature takes its course. I don't know

Confused31 · 20/10/2022 17:45

@tigerlily0 sorry they weren't helpful! Call again if any more bleeding tomorrow and ask for a scan.

I have PCOS so never had normal periods so never sure about spotting Vs bleeding
