I've just found out I'm expecting my second baby the first week of June 2023 - anyone else? Early days, so being cautious, but can't help feeling excited!

@Rose785 we are on similar timelines then 😊 yes I’ve been telling OH that I wish I felt something! I’m sure I’ll be complaining once nausea kicks in. 8 weeks would be a good time to get a scan as you’d see loads. Can’t wait for mine. Yes we’ll also be telling family after. It’s our first so it’ll be exciting to tell everyone.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 18/10/2022 15:16

I feel the same. I just want to feel something but I know it'll be complaining when I do! I have really bad toothache so far and a bit of tiredness. I have no appetite on an evening I can't remember last time I had a normal dinner 😅Just tried EPAU but they are closed after 3pm so will try again in morning and see if they'll offer me an early scan due to the bleeding.

Catcuscool · 18/10/2022 16:03

Hi all! Excited to join the thread, I am currently 5 weeks + 4 days, feeling very excited and nervous as it's my first pregnancy.

Does anyone know how long it takes from self-referrel to the midwife/hospital re 12 week scan? I submitted it 12/10 but haven't heard anything yet - but am not sure whether this is all normal!

natkasz · 18/10/2022 16:29

I have just realised that my trust don't accept antenatal care self-referrals I am 4+5 today but due to my previous MC, I don't want to volunteer anything to my GP at this stage particularly when last time I was getting chaser letters to arrange my booking appt despite me telling my GP twice that I had miscarried. I find it odd anyway as I have to tell the reception why I want the appointment and all my GP will do is draft a letter to the local maternity unit 🙄

Has anyone delayed getting referred until say 8 weeks and still had their booking appointment prior to 12 weeks?

tigerlily0 · 18/10/2022 18:29

7 + 4 today and the nausea is seriously kicking my ass this evening. I had sickness with my other 2 but haven't actually been sick yet, which I'm finding weird.

@natkasz why do you have to tell GP? If you know who your local community midwives are (Google will tell you if you don't want to ask gp practice), you then arrange your own appointment with them

tigerlily0 · 18/10/2022 18:32

@natkasz sorry just read they don't accept self referral! I'm lying in bed with nausea, I blame that. That is strange though and annoying that you have to go thru the GPs. It's a weird one because it depends how busy they are, if you choose to wait til 8 weeks- when they can get you an appointment.

B1993 · 18/10/2022 20:11

Congratulations to the new joiners! 🥳🥳

@natkasz Thats annoying! I'm sure there are plenty of women that don't find out they're pregnant until a bit later in the pregancy. I would have thought they would have periodised your appointment if you were already close to 8 weeks. However, I can't speak from experience as I did my online booking within days of testing positive so have had my appointment for a while now.

@BellaTheDarkOverlord Your test is looking good! Congrats on an A+ dye stealer 🤩

I did my Sneak Peak this morning.... what an absolute nightmare. I really underestimated just how fiddly the whole process would be. I'm pretty sure my results will come back as boy because, despite it looking like a blood bath, I could not for the life of me get my blood to drip in the minuscule test tube without it running under my nails first - something the test specifically says not to do. I got so frustrated with the whole thing in the end that I wasn't even bothered about contamination because I just wanted it done! I touched plenty of things I probably shouldn't, as a result! 🤦🏻‍♀️I do think it will be a boy anyway, so will technically it'll be right regardless of the contamination. 💙💙 My little blood sample has quite a journey to Sneak Peek labs in California now, so won't have my instinct confirmed for a good few days at least.

My nausea has been non-existent for most of the day so not sure if I'm pleased to be feeling better, or worried that it's eased off! Still have tender boobs, cramping and slight food aversions though so thinking fluctuating symptoms are normal?

I hope everyone is keeping well 😊

Tor88 · 18/10/2022 22:13

Congrats to new joiners 😊

I'm 6+6 today and having a v nauseous one. I'm now counting down the days to reach my major hurdle - my first miscarriage started at 9+2 naturally. We had a healthy scan at what I thought was 7+6 but was told on the day it was actually 7+4, and we think it must have stopped developing v shortly after that scan as that's when the nausea stopped. My second miscarriage was at 6 weeks so I've already passed that, but now 7+4/6 is in sight. I plan to book a private scan at just gone 9 weeks as that will feel like a major mile stone, but if I continue to feel nauseous into week 8 that will also be amazing.

My GOD I have to say Ive generally felt really proud of how I've handled this hellish year, but I am crumbling with this pregnancy, it's one of the hardest things I've been through (pregnancy after 2 losses with newly discovered endo, polyps and fibroids counting against me).

I've also had the mother of all colds over the last few days, almost the illest I've ever been I'd say! Im guessing illnesses are worse in pregnancy? Coz this kicked my butt, could barely move on Monday and still spent today drifting in and out of sleep on sofa. Taking my nausea today as a sign that little bean has lived to tell the tale, but it's a weird feeling being that poorly and pregnant!

Sending everyone else love xxx

Mannymoomin · 19/10/2022 05:03

6+4 today and have barely slept a wink.
A 4.30am awaking to chuck up the contents of yesterday’s 7pm meal.
Absolutely gutted at the start of “morning”sickness.
I naively hoped that I would be fortunate enough to escape it this time.
I just know it’s going to be bad and the thought of swallowing tablets make me feel sick too so anti sickness meds tend to come back up before they get a chance to work 😞

justbelieve · 19/10/2022 06:12

Hi, excited to join the thread! I’m 4+3 today and have known since 3+2 (9DPO) due to a FRER. This is my first and I’m super anxious! I did tests every day until I was 13DPO to see the lines get darker (which they did) and had these horrible gut wrenching feels I was going to MC, running to the bathroom to wipe every 10 mins if I thought I felt something. Luckily, that anxiety has started to calm down slightly now.

So far my symptoms are tiredness and sore nipples. I had extremely mild cramps yesterday for a minute or two, which got me all anxious again, but thinking it was a mixture of dehydration (I really need to work on that) and wind lol.

I have a private scan booked for 6weeks and have self referred to the midwife. Only advice I’ve received so far is to take 5mg of folic acid due to my BMI - has anyone else had to take this much?

If anyone has any tips on how to stop worrying every day that would be greatly appreciated! I really want to just enjoy every moment, and I’m frustrated my brain won’t let me do that. 😊

Leendp · 19/10/2022 06:31

Hi Everyone! Congratulations to the June 2023 group!
happy to join with a due date of June 6.
I am now 6+5. I am 42 and have had two losses in the last year. Feeling and doing everything possible to remain calm and positive. ☺️
I am having very few symptoms, the worst is probably my mood swings. Very light cramps, mild nausea, every now and again a sore nipple or two, and adversity to smells. My discharge has been consistently milky.
If I had more severe symptoms i probably would have felt more confident, but I do remind myself that all pregnancies are different.
I am taking folic acid, probiotics, vitamin D, Omega 3,6,9 Magnesium, and NAC.
rooting for everyone who is looking forward to their due date! ❤️

Tawny2022 · 19/10/2022 08:00

Congrats everyone!
I had some strange feelings low in the abdomen on the left last night so not feeling great about that. Although haven’t had anything since I woke up 2 hrs ago so maybe it was just random.

B1993 · 19/10/2022 08:39

Welcome to the new ladies! 🥳 It’s so nice to see the thread so busy now! 🥰

@Tor88 I’m glad you’re feeling reassured by your symptoms! Remember it’s normal for them to fluctuate though (or so I’ve been told) and it’s a loss of all symptoms that you need to worry about.

For me personally, I’ve had much less nausea the past couple of days (and none at all this morning, which is unusual) but boobs are still a little tender so I’m trying not to panic - easier said than done, if I’m honest!

@Leendp I’m 7 weeks today and due 7th June so you have very similar dates to me 😊

@Tawny2022 I had some similar sounding pains - I discussed with midwife during my early scan and she didn’t seemed concerned at all and said it all sounds normal as everything is stretching and what not. She told me they’d only be concerned if the pain was very severe and exclusively to one side.

Tawny2022 · 19/10/2022 08:46

@B1993 thats reassuring. It was on the left side, but not even really a pain as such. Like a half second pressure then again like 15 mins later etc. hmm.

im also a similar date- 7 + 3!

Tinkerbell098 · 19/10/2022 09:11

@tawny2022 I get pains on my right hand side once in a while and go away by itself. I'm hoping it's normal. Once I had it radiate to my back which lingered for a bit and disappeared. I have heard you can get weird pains when everything just stretches. I'm not sure why it's just one side though.

@b1993 did you get midwife appointments this early on? That's great! I have to go through GP and apparently the midwife is on leave and will ring me back. Hope I'll hear something next week.

Tawny2022 · 19/10/2022 09:14

Thanks @Tinkerbell098, I spent some time googling the female anatomy that didn’t shed much light! Hopefully is normal.

Tor88 · 19/10/2022 09:22

@b1993 thank you 🧡 yes tbh I was a thousand per cent convinced I was gonna miscarry in week 4 after my symptoms disappeared for 2 days and was wrong, so hoping after that I'll be better at managing fluctuations lol. Hope you're nausea is back to kick your butt soon haha xx

B1993 · 19/10/2022 09:31

@Tinkerbell098, I haven’t had my midwife appointment yet (got my booking appointment coming up on Tue). I was given a scan by the EPAU after bright red spotting this pregnancy, which came after a loss the previous month, so they just wanted to check that the new pregnancy is viable. I spoke to the midwife before/after my scan so was able to ask questions.

I don’t know how many of you have registered your pregnancies through ‘My Pregnancy Notes’ but there’s a non-urgent question form on there. You submit your questions online and a midwife will answer. I submitted a couple this morning so I don’t forget to ask them on my booking appointment next Tue. It might be worth using that if you don’t feel that your concerns warrants a call/visit to EPAU.

B1993 · 19/10/2022 09:35

@Tor88, pregnancy is such a minefield - I wish I could just relax! I’ve had a couple of waves already so clearly spoke too soon… 😅 Still not as bad as it has been but baby is definitely not letting me forget they’re in there!

Piggieinthemiddle · 19/10/2022 09:39

How's everyone doing? I had my first feelings of nausea this morning. I also had a lot of pains yesterday - in my back and sort of at the front of my hip bones. DH googled it and told me it's nothing to worry about - I thanked him for the mansplanation. 😂

Tawny2022 · 19/10/2022 09:43

@b1993 thanks! That’s good to know

Tinkerbell098 · 19/10/2022 09:47

@b1993 oh sorry I misunderstood. That's great you were able to ask questions. My pregnancy notes is unfortunately not available in my area, so I am unable to use it. That would have been a great option!

@Piggieinthemiddle How many weeks are you now? Nausea is yet to show up for me. We were just talking about random pains, hope it's all normal. Can't help but worry though!

MrsP4 · 19/10/2022 09:52

Morning all, I'm 7+4 today and feeling a bit rubbish.

So very early on I was in bed for a full day because I was being sick and thought it was pregnancy related but thinking back now I think it might have been a bug had no nausea since, my boobs were really tender for a couple days last week and that's literally it, I feel completely normal and I feel so weird like I feel like there's something wrong, this is baby number 2 I already have a daughter who will be 3 in January. I don't know if I'm not noticing symptoms because I'm so busy running round after a toddler where as when I was pregnant first time round I had nausea from dead on 6 weeks. I don't even know the point of this post, I guess I'm wondering if anyone else is the same? I'm tired most of the time anyway so haven't really noticed a change there.

I have a scan booked for Friday at 10:45 so I'll be 7+6 I just want to know there's something there and it's all ok because I still can't believe I'm pregnant! I know no 2 pregnancies are the same. Just feel like I've got no symptoms, I've not had any bleeding or cramps which I know is a good sign but I also know I'm not out of the woods yet! I don't remember worrying this much first time around.

Ally1992 · 19/10/2022 10:40

@justbelieve congratulations! I was like that the first two weeks with testing every day, I have no great advice, but I just remind myself that if something happens it is out of my control.

I'm also on 5mg of folic acid because I have type 1 diabetes but was taking it 3 months before I got pregnant as well, they also said I will be on aspirin from 12 weeks so I'm happily going with it if it keeps me and the baby safe.

B1993 · 19/10/2022 11:42

@Tinkerbell098, no need to apologise! It's hard to keep up now there's so many ladies on here! 😆

@MrsP4, if it helps, my first pregnancy was symptomless! Other than fatigue, I had no nausea, cravings, aversions, sore boobs etc. I read that typically boy pregnancies are 'easier' so might be a sign that you're not having another girl?! 🤔 Good luck with Friday's scan!

@Piggieinthemiddle I've become quite bad for consulting with Dr Google 🙈🤣 Glad your husband was able to reassure you!
