I've just found out I'm expecting my second baby the first week of June 2023 - anyone else? Early days, so being cautious, but can't help feeling excited!

I have got brown this morning too trying not to panic!

Algor1thm · 24/09/2022 08:55

@B1993 I'll be telling my son after my 20 week scan if everything looks okay. I really wouldn't want to have to explain if anything bad were to happen, and 4.5 months is a long time for him to wait anyway, let alone any longer.

Hi tentatively joining. Due date would be very end of May /beginning of June. Like a few this would be second and i've had a few losses while trying for the second.
@B1993 my daughter is 4 and would be 5 if this one is successful. A larger age gap than I had hoped but it is what it is!

Fredthespider · 24/09/2022 08:58

@B1993 I will probably wait until after the 20 week scan, but definitely not before the 12.

I’ve also had a bit of spotting, but I’m a bleeder so it’s quite normal for me. My last pregnancy I didn’t even realise I was pregnant as I’d had a full blown period level bleed plus negative FRER. It was only when I took an ovulation test 12 days later which showed a blaring positive that I realised! (Ovulation tests also react to HcG) it was nice to already be further along before I realised 😂

B1993 · 24/09/2022 09:03

I've been debating whether or not to post this as I'm very conscious that I don't want to add to anyones worries. I'm incredibly sorry if this does make anyones anxiety worse and will happily remove the post if anyone takes issue.

But, RE spotting, my miscarriage started with brown discharge/spotting. I had it once when I wiped, then it went away for a few days. It slowly came back and went from occasionally to most times when wiping. After about a week, the brown turned to pink and then red.

I really think my issue was low progesterone (I have lots of reasons for thinking this). Tommy's prism trial (I think that's what it was called) recommends that anyone with spotting and at least one previous m/c would benefit from progesterone supplementation.

I contacted my GP twice and my EPAU but they refused to give me any progesterone as they needed so see a viable pregancy at 6 weeks before they did. It's counterintuitive though, because I couldn't make it that far without the progesterone as miscarried at 5 weeks.

If you're worried about the spotting and have a previous loss, you might have more luck getting some progesterone through your EPAU than I did.

However, I'm using vitex as that's a natural/herbal way to support progesterone levels. I used it with my first and carried to term. I did use it with my last pregnancy but reduced the dose too quickly (I believe) as that's when the spotting started.

Again, I'm not saying this to worry anyone! 💜

B1993 · 24/09/2022 09:06

Thank you all - I think you're all right I'm not announcing until after the first scan at least.

Weefreetiffany · 24/09/2022 09:27

Can I join? Got mp bfp on Thursday and over the moon as we’ve been trying for almost two years to conceive number two. I had a miscarriage a year ago and a recent cycle where I was convinced was pregnant but af came on day 35. So I was very surprised to see the bfp on day 28 this time! This cycle we used preseed and I’ve been taking extra vitamin c to support progesterone. Hopefully this one sticks!

however, nausea, tiredness, cramps, bitter taste in my mouth and vivid dreams are all present and strong so I’m hoping and keeping everything crossed and taking it a day at a time.

good luck to everyone still waiting and congratulations to those with a bfp!

NalaNana · 24/09/2022 10:20

@bubble55 I was asking the exact same question yesterday! My tests are from 9DPO, 10DPO and 11DPO - the one from the morning of 11DPO was lighter and it whipped me up into such a panic. I did a 4 hour hold in the afternoon and it was much darker!

It's got me thinking that a) these tests aren't an exact science and we should be looking at trends rather than specific tests because they aren't designed to show us how pregnant we are; b) we should probably only be testing every 48 hours as that's when the HCG levels double and it will probably be clearer; and c) there's basically nothing we can do except wait and see in any event 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hope this helps x

@NalaNana are your tests from the same day but different times do you mean? Or are they different dpo days? My little boy was a happy surprise so never tested early, didn’t know what dpo etc meant and it was much nicer that way :(

NalaNana · 24/09/2022 10:40

@bubble55 my tests are from the mornings of DPO9, DPO10 & DPO11 and then an afternoon test on DPO11 x

bubble55 · 24/09/2022 10:52

@NalaNana ah that’s good then it’s got darker! I might try do another this evening and see what that’s like. I’ve convinced myself it’s over now :(

Bubblesandballoons · 24/09/2022 15:07

Sounds like there are a few of us pregnant after miscarriages. Hopefully we can handhold each other through these early weeks ❤️.

B1993 · 24/09/2022 16:52

Hi ladies, I hope everyone's feeling ok!

Like some of you, I'm also in the constant testing phase. I took yet another test today (10DPO) and got a good, pink line. My husband says I need to stop as, in the last few days, I've probably taken 15-20 tests (all but the FR were cheap strip tests).

I know it's not doing my any favours but the lines are so reassuring. I know it doesn't really mean anything, as they were progressing nicely in my last pregnancy too, but I can't seem to help myself!

Hi ladies, I think I'm miscarrying again. I went to the toilet and there was quite a bit of bright red blood. I'm not feeling hopeful at all 😭😭💔

Summerbreeze111 · 24/09/2022 17:16

Hi all, please can I join? I am due the last few days of May, but my first pregnancy so there is a good chance it could be a June birthday!

I had an early miscarriage in May so I am extremely nervous, but I can't help but also feel excited.. I feel like I've waited all my life for this 💕

Fredthespider · 24/09/2022 17:25

@B1993 I’m so sorry to hear that. I have everything crossed that it’s just late implantation bleeding and that it stops soon. Big hugs x

Bubblesandballoons · 24/09/2022 17:25

@B1993 ahh I’m sorry your going through this. Hopefully it’s just a heavy implantation bleed 🤞🏻. I’ve been there, so I know how heartbreaking it is to see the red blood. Look after yourself and see if the gp will do blood tests to see if hcg is rising.

Summerbreeze111 · 24/09/2022 17:30

Is the Facebook group private so others can't see we have joined?

If so, please can I be sent the link?

🙏🙏🙏

B1993 · 24/09/2022 17:52

Thank you 💔 I want to stay postive but know it's not a good sign... unfortunately this rainbow isn't sticking around.

@Bubblesandballoons they were useless the last time. I was just told the pregancy wasn't meant to be when I requested bloods.

Bubblesandballoons · 24/09/2022 18:07

@B1993 I’m sorry your gp’s are useless. I’ve had a mix of good and bad care with my miscarriages, it’s unfair there’s no set procedure for everyone to follow, it definitely seems luck of the draw. If you can afford it medichecks do a hcg progression blood test you do at home 2 days apart to check levels. It’s horrible being in limbo, hopefully your body will let you know one way or the other for def soon and in the meantime hope your partner is looking after you

Thank you this is actually really helpful and I’ll definitely look into it. I’ve suspected I have low progesterone as I took low dose aspirin with my last pregnancy and still had a missed miscarriage so I don’t think it’s a clotting issue.

Greymalkin12 · 24/09/2022 19:52

@B1993 so sorry you are going through this and good luck. Not sure whether it is possible at this stage but I'd try to make sure it is recorded as a pregnancy in case the worst happens so at least it should be on record in terms of a referral in case of more losses (although hopefully all will be ok).

B1993 · 24/09/2022 20:08

@Bubblesandballoons With my last miscarriage, bleeding started quite quickly after seeing the first bit of pink. The next day was full flow so I think I'll know soon enough.

In the meantime, I've told myself I won't test again. If by some miracle I don't get anymore spotting, I'll test again in a few days to see if my lines have got lighter.

@Greymalkin12 I was waiting to log my pregnancy but, after the bleeding, I've decided it's better to go ahead and do it. One of the questions on the form was if there's a history of recurrent miscarriages but that's classed as 3 or more in row.

I find it incredible that they allow you to suffer 3 before they take it seriously. Even once is one too many.

Blossomhoney · 24/09/2022 20:10

@B1993 sorry to hear,
hopefully all turns out ok, thinking of you xx

B1993 · 24/09/2022 20:11

@Veryxonfused I'm pleased it's helped. I managed to find this from the study so you can push for it with your EPAU.
