@Springblooms08 for me I want to know because if it's not good news I'd rather process and deal with that sooner rather than later. I'm going for my first appointment tomorrow at 7 weeks and will ask if they can do a scan because I'm getting on and off spotting. There's no way round this being a nerve wracking time is there 😑

Hannah223344 · 11/09/2022 11:25

@Springblooms08 I've been feeling very anxious to, and a lack of symptoms wasn't helping! In the end we went for an early scan on Friday and so pleased we did as it's settled me for the time being, and just a lovely experience to see a glimpse of what's happening! Good luck!

CinderellaFant · 11/09/2022 12:24

Another scan today and little bean is measuring 10w 4days. Strong heartbeat and little hands were waving up round its head 🥰🥰

Beautiful photo @CinderellaFant

That makes sense @MamaMenna - I guess I’ve always though if something was wrong, there would be signs. Rationally, I know that a mmc is very rare, but it doesn’t stop me worrying!

@Hannah223344 aw that’s lovely, so happy for you! How far along were you when you went for your scan?

lovely pic @CinderellaFant x

Hannah223344 · 11/09/2022 13:32

@Springblooms08 I thought I was 7w2d but they measured me at 7w5d

AliceinSlumberland · 11/09/2022 13:38

Morning all, sorry I’ve been totally absent this weekend as I’ve been away at a wedding, first sober occasion! Was actually really nice to be quite open about the fact I wasn’t drinking as I’m pregnant as they’re not people I’d see again. Had a great time but really really tired and my boobs didn’t appreciate the dancing!!

@Springblooms08 personally I was incredibly anxious and having an early scan really settled my mind, I’m sure it’ll come back before my next scan but knowing that it’s growing well so far has really helped.

Longbin · 11/09/2022 15:03

@Wouldloveanother I haven't thought too much about birth plans yet. I might consider a water birth, or just a normal hospital birth with maximum drugs 😅

@Springblooms08 I understand why people don't want a scan at around 6 weeks when there is a chance the date is out, but not sure what puts people off them now really. It's a long wait til 12 weeks!

Heath2330 · 11/09/2022 15:13

@Wouldloveanother the birth has been going round my mind since finding out lol I had a C-section with my last baby 10 years ago on the 19th and my first was vaginal birth following induction and I just don't know what to do this time my C-section was semi Emergancy after failed induction due to position of baby and recovery wasn't bad but not great either think likely due to being exhausted having been in hospital for 4 days would love a Vbac but had pre-e in both my pregnancies and honestly don't wanna go through long induction to end up with section anyway so leaning more towards elective but the recovery makes me feel sick to think about so I just don't know 🤷‍♀️

Springblooms08 · 11/09/2022 15:19

@Longbin this is definitely my hesitation - I’m scared I’ll be measuring completely wrong and it’ll just make me feel worse. But not sure how likely that is at 8 weeks? I have no idea!

ancienthouse · 11/09/2022 16:04

@Wouldloveanother I keep thinking about the birth. I want a VBAC but whether that will happen will probably depend on how giant this baby is. I've decided no inductions, no sweeps, no VEs this time (last time I had so many VEs it gave me a tear even though I didn't give birth vaginally!). So it'll either be totally natural if I go into labour by myself, or an elective section, which I'll book in for as late as they'll let me, hopefully after 41 weeks.

ancienthouse · 11/09/2022 16:07

Or I suppose it could be another EMCS if I go into labour naturally but then it goes wrong again. But this time I won't have all of the interventions inbetween because I was so knackered doing all of that, getting to 10cm and pushing just to have surgery anyway. So as soon as it looks like it's not going to happen, I'll ask for a section. I think. It's so hard to decide sometimes!

Longbin · 11/09/2022 16:17

@Springblooms08 unless you have REALLY irregular periods and weren't tracking ovulation it's very difficult to be that far out! How sure are you of your dates? Do you know the last day of your period or when you ovulated?

Springblooms08 · 11/09/2022 16:35

@Longbin thats really good to know! I just assumed it could be really off which I know would hugely stress me out. I’m almost certain I’m 8 weeks today as I got a positive opk on 30th July, and a faint bfp on 10th August. Have you had a scan yet?

cheekysausage · 11/09/2022 16:57

Has anyone ever used the SneakPeek home kit gender reveal?

Missgemini · 11/09/2022 17:23

@cheekysausage yes, I sent the blood sample back a couple of days ago. Expecting the result tomorrow 🤞
Time will tell if accurate!

PuddingBear · 11/09/2022 17:23

Re. Birth plans I think I’m pretty certain I’m going to ask for an elective C-section this time.

I had an EMCS after a failed induction last time. I was in an immense amount of pain, regular contractions, no dilation, so I don’t want to go through that again especially if it will just end in another EMCS.

I figure I already have the scar and I know what the recovery is like … I don’t want to have to face the risks of a vaginal birth like tears and prolapses etc. and end up with the worst of both 😅

Your recovery after an elected C section will be completely different. You'll be walking a few hours later and will be only on paracetamol as pain relief by the evening. A planned C section is calm, gentle and a wonderful way to give birth- you'll be so pleased I'm sure. Good luck xxx

Oh that’s good to know, thank you 😊 I think having a date in advance and everything being calm, not rushed etc will make a big difference too.

Last time they allowed me to discharge myself after 24 hours to go and stay in NICU with my daughter but as a consequence they couldn’t give me anymore morphine so I was on dihydrocodeine which helped but not as much.

I was still in pain for a week or so after but I had a great support network (created a bubble with my parents) so had lots of help when we got home.

cheekysausage · 11/09/2022 17:47

@Springblooms08 personally there is no way I could wait until the 12 week scan. I’m much too anxious. I would much rather know if something had gone wrong so I could deal with it, process it rather than waiting for the 12 week. I went and saw my two beans today at 8+2. Measuring spot on the GA!

Ooo how exciting!!!

Chocolat · 11/09/2022 17:59

Hi hope everyone’s well.
My 12 week scan was booked for 19th September. It’s in a GP surgery so not sure if it will still going ahead due to the bank holiday, does anyone have any ideas/experiences of having scans at a GP surgery on bank holidays?

Springblooms08 · 11/09/2022 18:00

@cheekysausage aww what incredible images!! That must have been lovely!

at my booking appointment, the midwife said it’s very rare to have lost the baby but there be no pain or bleeding at all. On MN though it makes it seem as if this is really common. She did also say to stay off google and mumsnet 😂

KennAdams · 11/09/2022 18:15

Gorgeous picture @cheekysausage

Twins! How exciting

CinderellaFant · 11/09/2022 18:22

@Chocolat that's also my 12 week scan and booking appointment. Not sure if it will go ahead!

I've had one induction which turned into an emergency section and it was awful. The procedure, recovery, everything that could go wrong did.
For the next two births I chose elective section and it was such a positive birth experience. I loved them. So relaxed, positive and the curtain was lowered so I could see my babies coming out and DH was able to cut the cords. Skin to skin straight away. Recovery was great, I had to stay for 2 nights then home, was back to doing the school runs (with DH driving) from the day after I came home! I was given diclofenac tablets to take for 4 days after and as long as I kept on top of them the pain was minimal!
