Thank you everyone 💓 The sonographer probably thought I was so strange considering it's my 7th but I was just so.in awe we could see absolutely everything as much other scans have never been so clear (must be using newer machines or something!)
Also started using the travel sickness bands as suggested by some and fingers crossed it seems to be doing something. Still feel slightly slightly nauseous but nowhere near as bad so don't know whether it's in my head like a placebo but these bands arnt coming off my wrists anytime soon 😂

mummatara · 10/09/2022 12:19

Thanks everyone. I've spoke to the EPU they want to wait a week to scan me so need to wait until the 20th going to be a long ass week I still have plenty of symptoms 🤷🏼‍♀️. @MummyOfBoys2022 how did that pregnancy turn out? I feel a bit in limbo im realistic that im very sure of my dates and it doesn't look good but equally I know the early pregnancy scans can be very difficult so I have that little bit of hope

MummyOfBoys2022 · 10/09/2022 12:29

@mummatara the baby continued growing fine, but my symptoms wasn't right I had spotting that they put down to a water infection and my symptoms faded off so obviously different from you, but my baby died at 9w 6d, but I would try be positive scans are hard to get right measurements at the beginning of your symptoms are still there and that I wouldn't worry! x

Emeal123 · 10/09/2022 16:32

@DBS94 i had abnormal cells and had to do further investigation last year then they did my smear again this year as I now have it annually and they picked up abnormal cells again. Was scheduled in for the appointment and further investigations this week but they said I need to be 14 weeks pregnant to have it so have rebooked the appointment. I feel so nervous to have it done whilst pregnant I remember it feeling quite intrusive and uncomfortable last time and I really want to know all of the risks around it before the appointment. Has anyone else had it whilst pregnant? I have my midwife booking in appointment on Thursday so will defo be discussion this with her xx

I will definitely get my covid booster when I can. Friends who work in ITU and neonates have seen horrendous things with covid in pregnant women. If the clever doctors and scientists think it is worth me being boosted, I am going to listen to them. Sure I’ve had three jabs and also had covid, but I will do all I can to reduce the risk of stillbirth/premature delivery.

Marshmallowmountain · 10/09/2022 17:57

@Margo34 i was explicitly told to take it rectally, but I really didn’t fancy that so I’ve been taking it vaginal 😂 are you on cyclogest? I don’t think it matters, I think the instructions in the box said either is fine and absorption is similar with both

My thoughts exactly. It’s either a known risk, or an unknown risk. I know which one I would rather take!

totally this. I had two jabs during my last pregnancy.

Clearly everyone is entitled to make their own decision on it but I dont understand those saying "not worth the risk" when the only known significant risk is being unvaccinated and heavily pregnant.

but then I suppose it is easy for me to say as I'm totally pro vaccine and don't consider the covid vaccines any more 'rushed' than the flu vaccines.

It’s still an unknown risk taking the covid vaccine/booster when pregnant.

It hasn’t been around long enough and years of trials and tests to see what the long term implications are haven’t happened yet.

I’m not keen for my baby to be part of the trials on pregnant women. You don’t know what may crop up years down the line that isn’t known now. That’s why I’m so reluctant.

That’s my point exactly. We don’t know there is a risk with the jab. Whereas we know there’s a risk to an unborn baby by being infected with Covid in the womb. What’s to say ‘long covid’ won’t affect newborns much further down the line?
I trust people who are much cleverer than me.

DBS94 · 10/09/2022 18:46

Does anyone feel like their body temperature is warmer with pregnancy? My feet are cold and I don't feel overly hot in myself but my body is so warm to touch (neck and back) not burning but definitely hotter than normal over the last few weeks xx

PuddingBear · 10/09/2022 18:46

@Wouldloveanother That’s it, it’s just a whole world of unknowns either way 🤷‍♀️ Having it or not having it could end up fine or in disaster.

At the end of the day it’s like all parenting really isn’t it; car seats, weaning, feeding, dummies etc etc.

We’re all going to do what we personally feel is best for our babies.

I didn’t want to start an argument but I was curious as to how other pregnant women were going to approach the jab.

When I’ve announced my pregnancy to family and friends, some of whom are also pregnant, I’ll see what their thinking is too.

PuddingBear · 10/09/2022 18:47

@DBS94 One minute I seem to be hot, the next minute I seem to be cold 😅 I can’t seem to regulate my body temperature anymore 😂

Gilm0reGirl · 10/09/2022 18:49

@DBS94 my husband is sleeping In the guest room as it's apparently like sleeping next to the sun. I always ran hot anyway but not it's apparently unbearable to be near over night 😂 he will change his mind when winter hits I'm sure.

DBS94 · 10/09/2022 18:53

@PuddingBear same!! I go to bed roasting then wake up feeling so cold it's crazy

@Gilm0reGirl lol!! It was my husband who noticed it too, he put his hand on my back and said it was burning 😂 I read somewhere it's to do with the increase of blood flow! I'm glad I'm not the only one x

BamEd · 10/09/2022 19:39

Hey ladies,

it’s been a while since I’ve posted but have been following the thread.

i had a scan last Sunday and saw a happy healthy baby with a heartbeat, I was measuring slightly smaller than that I thought I was by 5/6 days (but I always take that with a pinch of salt). This evening I had had the tinest amount of blood when I wiped - I know this can be common but can’t help worry of course! Would you ring the midwife/ epu or just let it play out and see what happens?

I had some bleeding in my first pregnancy but that was around the 5/6 week mark and I’m now 7/8 weeks x

Longbin · 10/09/2022 19:47

@BamEd it's probably fine but I think it's best to ring anyway for piece of mind. Mine made me go through my GP or midwife and wouldn't take a direct referral so maybe try one of those

Wouldloveanother · 10/09/2022 19:52

I know it’s early but can I ask if anyone’s had any thoughts re birth plans? I’ve got another obstetrician meeting in a few weeks, I feel if I stand my ground from early on I’ve got more of a chance of getting what I want than if I leave it to later 😬 last time it was never really discussed just got sent a letter with an induction date and that was that!

Margo34 · 10/09/2022 20:02

Thank you for the reassurance @Skylark1990 and @Marshmallowmountain and yes I'm on cyclogest, I'll keep taking it as I am I think ☺️

@mummatara oh I'm so sorry you're in limbo after your scan! 😩 I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you. Have you got lots to distract you or keep you busy over the next week?

mummatara · 10/09/2022 20:07

@Margo34 not really just work 🙄 DH and I did have a chat earlier though and have ordered two blood tests to see if hcg is progressing and I also remembered after my MMC I had an internal scan which they told me I have a retroverted uterus which I know can make scanning more difficult so that is sort of my hope I'm clinging to at the moment 🤞🏼

This is how I feel. I understand a bit about the risks of Covid when pregnant but I have no way of knowing what the longer term risks are of having the booster when pregnant and I don’t feel comfortable being part of a trial. If I was just weighing up risks to me but I knew for certain there were no risks for my child I’d not have to think twice.

To the poster who said that they have a friend who’s seen lots of pregnant women suffer awfully from Covid and have miscarriages, were those women vaccinated or not ? I’m genuinely interested as I feel like I could take the booster and still get Covid so then I’m taking on 2x risks.

Either way I will be incredibly cautious, especially in the third trimester - I’ll mostly be meeting people outdoors or not at all and won’t be attending Christmas parties etc.

DBS94 · 11/09/2022 07:55

@PuddingBear @hopeful2023 I feel the exact same! The option of having it was brought up at my first midwife appointment and I was in two minds. The midwife gave me lots of info and leaflets but was so torn, I've had 3 Covid vaccines and also had Covid (the week baby was conceived lol). I'm glad to see others with the same feelings as I was feeling so guilty for being reluctant xx

CG93 · 11/09/2022 08:24

LMP dated me at 8 weeks 3 days but an early yesterday measured me at 6 weeks 4 days which is much more in line with my own dates. Ultrasound detected very strong heartbeat ❤️ just need to accept that I am doing the last two weeks again right now 🤣

Lovely @CG93 and a great photo!

Springblooms08 · 11/09/2022 10:28

Morning ladies, I really can’t decide whether an early scan would help or not, any advice on how to decide whether to have one or not would be so appreciated! I’ve felt suuuuper anxious pretty much from the start and I’m 8 weeks today. I’m lucky that I haven’t had severe nausea, but the lack of that has meant I don’t have a huge amount to go on and just finding this period of time really tough.
