@Soontobe7 meant 8+3 lol not 5+3!!

Skylark1990 · 10/09/2022 08:16

@Tropicana1 sorry to hear youve had it twice too! If you've had it recently you may be well protected over winter and then could have the booster early next year so it lasts till April... No idea how long immunity lasts after infection/ jab tho!!

@ClaBro1 so so sorry. Hope you're ok, sending love. 😞❤️💔

@LauraA31 while as others have said the NHS doesn't strictly recommend it like it does folic acid and vitamin D, omega 3 won't hurt (unless you are allergic to fish? Therefore get a vegan omega supplement) and is very good for the fetus. Particularly good to take if you don't eat fish. Numerous studies have shown this, here is a paper on it: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3046737/ - it's particularly good for eye and brain health in developing babies. I took all through DDs pregnancy and am again now. It's important to get a good quality one.

@Soontobe7 so happy for you! Gorgeous pics (my pic at 8+3 was just a little blob haha must have been the angle!).

Has anyone in here had abnormal smears and referred to colposcopy for treatment? My midwife mentioned being referred to a consultant and an "intermediate chance of preterm birth" but didn't really elaborate. Wondering if anyone has had this mentioned by their midwife yet? X

KennAdams · 10/09/2022 08:40

Sorry to hear that @ClaBro1 be kind to yourself 💐

@soo

KennAdams · 10/09/2022 08:42

@Soontobe7 what a lovely scan photo. Can make it out so clearly! 😍

Yesterday I perhaps did something a bit stupid, my sister gave me her doppler from her last pregnancy and I stupidly used it. To my utter surprise though I found the HB! I've put it away now because I don't want to use it all the time or become obsessed. 🙈

Hannah223344 · 10/09/2022 08:56

@DBS94 yes, I had a colposcopy in 2019 following an abnormal smear ... I haven't had my booking appt yet, but shall make sure to bring this up when I do!

ancienthouse · 10/09/2022 08:59

@KennAdams ooh I thought dopplers couldn't pick up a heartbeat until closer to 14/16 weeks?

KennAdams · 10/09/2022 09:05

ancienthouse · 10/09/2022 08:59

@KennAdams ooh I thought dopplers couldn't pick up a heartbeat until closer to 14/16 weeks?

I think that's the recommended time to use then as it's easier to find but I also found my nephews HB at 9 weeks. Can also depend on the doppler you use as well. I know they're not recommended for home use but I think as long as you're sensible about it it's OK. So I won't be using it continously every day or freaking out if I can't find it one day as it's still so early.

mummatara · 10/09/2022 09:06

Got my scan this morning at 10.20 the clock is ticking so slowly 🙄

Skylark1990 · 10/09/2022 09:08

@mummatara just saw your message. I'm exactly with you, just hate the jabs (and covid!) And just don't want any more of that in my body thank you! Although ofc catching covid again would be worse than the jab I'm sure but I'm just sick of it plus I feel like surely we would have some ok immunity now? I kind of think if I've had it twice plus 3 vaccines hopefully if I caught it again it would be mild? They say that the vaccine doesn't stop us catching it but reduces severity, but wouldn't the fact we have had it (multiple times) and some vaccines already do that too? 🤔🤔 So hard to know for sure what to do 🤦‍♀️

@mummatara best of luck for your scan!! X@KennAdams omg so cool you heard the heartbeat! I'd be so tempted to try... How many weeks are you? X

mummatara · 10/09/2022 09:14

@Skylark1990 tbf I do think there is something in that. I had no jabs the first time it was awful the second time I'd had all my jabs and booster and was crappy but no more than the flu kind of crappy and the third time was more like just a rotten cold. It is so hard to know I think in reality I probably will go through with the booster because technically this baby has already had it 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I want to sulk about it because I know it's going to make me feel terrible 🙄

KennAdams · 10/09/2022 09:15

@Skylark1990 I'm 8+1so very early 🙈 I first tried to get used to the different noises. There's videos on YouTube that can help. Lots of people mistake the whooshing noise as hb or your own hb as the hb but there is a clear difference in BPM.

I'd upload the video but I think MN only allows pictures. 😊

KennAdams · 10/09/2022 09:16

@Skylark1990 I'm 8+2 today roughly. I have seen some people on YouTube find it that early so thought I'd just give it a go but not get worked up if I couldn't find it.

I'm trying to upload the video but I think MN only allows pictures. 😔

Matildahoney · 10/09/2022 09:16

@DBS94 I've had 3 lletz treatments in the past so I've been referred by the midwife at my booking in appointment, the name of the team is pretty scary I think! As far as I'm aware they measure your cervix monthly to make sure it's long enough to carry, it can change throughout & then if it's too short they'll put in a suture- which I haven't researched!

Margo34 · 10/09/2022 10:38

Had my booking appt this week and told MW about my taking progresterone. She was adamant it had to be taken vaginally so I didn't actually tell her I have been taking it rectally. Does any one here know why it needs to be vaginally if it all gets into the bloodstream anyway even by taking rectally? What have other progresterone users' MWs said?

mummatara · 10/09/2022 10:49

I went for my scan it was inconclusive. Sac looked pretty empty to me I've looked at plenty of scans though obv I'm no expert. she said she could see yolk sac and what might be a foetal pole but she would put me closer to 6 weeks which is almost 3 weeks difference I should be 8+6. Now need to call the EPU.

Tropicana1 · 10/09/2022 10:50

@LauraA31 I'm taking pregnacare plus which comes with their normal vitamins and an omega one too. I find I have to take the omega not at bed time because if I get reflux and taste the fish oil it makes me feel so sick (and I love eating fish!)

@Skylark1990 that's what I was thinking - might take up the autumn booster in a couple of months and make the most of my natural immunity having just had it and then booster to hopefully see me through the 3rd trimester. I got covid in December 3 months after my booster, then had my booster in feb and caught it 6 months later so I'm bargaining on 3-6 months protection after having it / having the booster!

@KennAdams if you're only 9 weeks it might be your own heartbeat you're picking up - take your own pulse rate at the same time and if it's in time with the Doppler then you're just picking up your own through your aorta (which is very easy to do!)

Skylark1990 · 10/09/2022 11:04

@Margo34 I've been told by fertility specialist who specialise in recurrent miscarriage you can do it either vaginally or rectally.

@mummatara I'm so sorry it's inconclusive news! I really hope epau find something different. I hope you're ok. This must be upsetting, but hang in there. Early scans can be difficult to interpret. Sending love xx

Skylark1990 · 10/09/2022 11:05

@Margo34 both at Professor Quenby's clinic I was told this and my local epau plus loads of women on here recommend rectally.

I did this @Tropicana1 my own was 70bpm and beans HB reached 160s and sounded like a constant galloping horse. 🤗

There's lots of different sounds though so I can see why people get muddled.

KennAdams · 10/09/2022 11:15

@mummatara hope epu gives you some answers! 💐
