Morning everyone! Joining from the previous threads.
I’m 7+0 today and have my blood tests and collecting my notes which is making it feel very real! I also have a private scan booked for Sunday!
Sickness is really kicking in and I got some travel bands yesterday and I managed to keep my tea down for the first time in a week yesterday!

Missgemini · 26/08/2022 08:21

@Emeal123 Not only you. I am very irritated at everyone at work as well as my DH.
I had to apologise to him 2 nights ago as I realised my annoyance was not rational haha!

(5+3)

@MamaOh it isn’t just a matter of getting care though, it’s getting the clinically appropriate care. If you want to just focus on the individual, and not the costs that them being dishonest or exaggerating might have on other patients who also need care at that time, we can consider that. With false information, medical staff might put the patient through unnecessary or inappropriate investigations. Perhaps a woman in early pregnancy with spotting makes up pain because they are understandably anxious about what’s going on, and they lie because they want a scan. Actually, as we’ve seen here with some private scans, the scan might be too early to show much, causing great distress and anxiety until the rescan. In that case, it might have been more appropriate to do blood tests, but the lie leads doctors down the wrong path.

My position on this comes as someone who has had early miscarriages, and is also a doctor although no longer clinical and I haven’t worked in an EPU.

Tropicana1 · 26/08/2022 08:27

@MamaOh in an ideal world you would be right and resources endless for everyone to be seen and managed, sadly in the nhs currently there is a crisis, wait times at a&e can reach 12 hours, and I have a friend who just last week slipped down the stairs and now has pain and a large lump over her coccyx who was unfortunately turned away from a&e and told to come back the next day because they knew they wouldn't be able to see her, and whilst she was there a young lad with a suspected fractured leg was also told to return the next day. A&e staff and the nhs are under enormous pressure, and resources are finite, that's the point. There just isn't capacity to treat everyone, and it's not the fault of the doctors but personally I don't think it's fair to compromise other peoples medical care by exaggerating symptoms and getting yourself higher up the list of priority when you aren't there.

@AliceinSlumberland yay 6 weeks! I know what you mean, I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and it does feel like a point.

Im really debating getting a private scan at around 8 weeks. Having seen quite a few of you ladies only get more worry from yours only to be reassured by epu all is ok it puts me off, but another 6 weeks to wait feels like ages 😂 also scans in my area are pretty expensive!

anyone else finding their OH quite irritating at the moment? 🙈😂

omg... have had the raging hump with him for the last week or so...I know I'm being unfair but trying very hard not to shout at him. I'm also finding inanimate objects annoying though....

AliceinSlumberland · 26/08/2022 08:48

I’ve got a scan booked next week at 7 weeks but I know how you feel. I think 8 weeks though, your dates couldn’t be that wrong to mean you’d see nothing, if you know what I mean. I think the issue with 6 weeks scans or even 7 week ones is that even if you’re just a couple of days out or baby hasn’t grown as much tbe past few days , it makes a huge difference in terms of what you see on the scan. If there’s no heartbeat at mine next week I can be pretty sure I think that all is not well and it’s not progressing as I tracked ovulation and am going off that date rather than my LMP. If I’d have gone for a scan at 6 weeks according to my LMP I’d have seen nothing because I’d only actually have been 5 weeks.

Morning all. Have had nausea past few days. Didn't have any symptoms with DS and this pregnancy feels so different to my first. The nausea, the tiredness, I can sleep for ages, wake up and still have a nap few hours later. Hope you all are managing well with your symptoms.

@AliceinSlumberland yea that is true, at least by 8 weeks if it's measuring very far behind / immature I'll know there's an issue rather than potential confusion earlier. Just not sure I've got the patience to wait until 12 weeks 😂 (although I originally did plan to!) and if something is wrong or a missed miscarriage occurs I'd rather know sooner than find out at 12 that something went wrong weeks ago!

Wouldloveanother · 26/08/2022 10:00

Checking in 😊

Waiting for my GP to phone me back, I’ve asked to be signed off work for the foreseeable. The sickness has hit me like a freight train and it’s not fair on work for me to be half in-half out constantly.

How are you getting along Skylark? We’re 7+2 today Smile

Sunnyxo · 26/08/2022 10:21

Checking in!
Had my 8 week reassurance scan yday and everything looked okay 😃 they said I was 7+6, but I wasn't really properly tracking ovulation
Still not many symptoms but I did have a one off load of throwing up in the morning the other day

Hope everyone's well xx

@MamaOh we can agree to disagree on lying about symptoms being a moral issue then. Even great philosophers couldn't agree whether lying is ever moral, I suppose.

But it's not something I would ever do and would never encourage others to do. And I've been that panicked woman in distress in early pregnancy, and I'm really hopeful that I don't find myself there again.

🙋‍♀️ me! And also my toddler is irritating me too 😂We've hit the major tantrum phase, flat on the floor thrashing and screaming and all because DC1 wanted the wardrobe door open and then it was open and DC1 didn't want it open. 🤦

Maybe we should drop the below conversation? It doesn't seem like everyone is going to agree. Would be a shame if the supportive nature of the thread were lost Flowers

How is everyone today? I feel perpetually hungover this week Grin

Emeal123 · 26/08/2022 10:46

@AliceinSlumberland i am 6 weeks tomorrow and feel the same about it being a milestone! Thought I was 6 weeks last week but private scan took me backwards a week in my dates lol so have counted down to week 6 for a second week in a row!

Leanne053 · 26/08/2022 10:46

@Wouldloveanother how many weeks are you if you don't mind me asking 😀

OttilieKnackered · 26/08/2022 10:50

@Wouldloveanother I’m on the verge of doing the same. How far along are you and is it ‘just’ nausea for you, or actual sickness as well.

mine is mostly ‘just’ nausea so I worry I would feel like a fraud going off sick.

how long do you expect to be signed off for?

Bub20 · 26/08/2022 10:53

@hotelp same here....so so tired and nauseous! I'm trying to be happy about it in the hope it means everything is OK 🙈

Wouldloveanother · 26/08/2022 10:55

@Leanne053 I’m 7+2 today, the days are flying by! I found out very early though. How about you?

@OttilieKnackered I’m vomiting 3-5 times a day, mainly at 4am (bloody great) and 9-10am. Extreme nausea the rest of the time unless I’m lying down. The nausea is much worse that the vomiting - it sounds grim but I sort of enjoy the vomiting as it feels like I’m getting all the toxic stomach acid out 🤢 and it gives me relief from the nausea for half an hour or so. I’ve asked for 3 weeks with a view to extend if I’m still unwell. My sickness with DD wasn’t this bad - I’d usually vomit in the morning, had food aversions but be okay for the rest of the day - but lasted until 20+ weeks 😔 so I need to be ready for it lasting that long in case it does. I would say definitely get signed off if you’re not coping, it’s better than being half in/half out of work xx

BecksLouise · 26/08/2022 10:56

@Tropicana1 I had a private scan yesterday at 7+6, they measured around 7+2 to 7+5 so personally I was happy. Saw a strong heartbeat which was my main aim of going to set my mind at ease. The sonography also said it’s hard when they’re so little so can be a few days out.
I also couldn’t bare waiting until the 12 week nhs scan, I’m just too inpatient and needed early reassurance.
In my experience I’m so glad I went but can understand I was lucky compared to others

Leanne053 · 26/08/2022 10:58

@Wouldloveanother I'm two weeks behind you and found out on Sunday! I hope the sickness eases for you it must be so hard to function with it!!

Wouldloveanother · 26/08/2022 10:58

limoncelloo · 25/08/2022 11:53

Hi all if anyone remembers me- not sure I've been on here since thread 1!

Coming up to 9 weeks now! Still very, very, very sick and struggling to function or do much. Anti-sickness tablets do sweet F.A.

Hope everyone is well x

I was thinking about you yesterday Limon and hoping you were okay! You have my full sympathies, the sickness hit me at the weekend and it’s miserable. Yet somehow I feel ungrateful complaining about it 😕 9 weeks is supposed to be the peak - really hope you are nearly over the hump 💐 and 🍪

Wisher88 · 26/08/2022 11:04

Morning ladies!

5+2 for me today. I go for a few days where I'm sure everything is fine but then if I feel any twinges or light cramping I'm convinced it's MC. I think it'll be this way until I have an early scan. I was wanting to wait until 8wks but I don't think I can! Going to try wait until next Saturday.
