My 12 week scan is 4th Nov but we had a private scan last week and everything looking great. The sonographer dated me at exactly 9 weeks which ties in exactly with LMP, I was so surprised the little thing looked so foetus-like as we had a private scan at 8 weeks with our DS (now 3) and I’m sure he looked much more shrimp-like that this one, crazy how much they develop in a week and makes me excited for what it’ll look like at 12 weeks.

Also this is mad but when we had scans of our DS I was totally convinced it looked like a boy (not going by the nub or skull theory as we didn’t want to find out the gender) but just the look of it looked so boy like to me and he did turn out to be a boy. This teeny little thing looks like a girl to me, again not going by anything specific just the feeling I got when I saw it flickering around on the screen. We’re now in 2 minds about whether to find out the sex, we didn’t with DS and I LOVED the surprise but I feel like with a 2nd baby it’s a bit more practical to find out - deciding which baby clothes to keep, also I want to prepare DS for whether he’s getting a baby brother or sister. Anyone got any experience/thoughts to share on this?

Summerwaves8 · 17/10/2022 12:13

I had a missed miscarriage, went for a ten week private scan two weeks ago and baby only measured 7 weeks with no heartbeat. I then had to have a scan with nhs who confirmed the same but told me I had to come back in one week for a further scan. Finally got some medication to start the bleeding last week. It’s all been very sad and I’ve been super emotional. We were so excited and got such a shock.
Wishing you all lots of luck in your pregnancies x

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 17/10/2022 13:04

@Summerwaves8 I'm really sorry - we've been there with the scan and no heart beat and it is heartbreaking. Be kind to yourselves and fingers crossed for the future.

i83 · 17/10/2022 13:08

Oh @Summerwaves8 I’m so sorry 💔. Sending you lots of love.
I really hope everything goes as ok as it possibly can over the next few weeks and you’ll try again when you’re ready.
It’s so tough I know. Life is very cruel sometimes and really tries us…. emotional, mentally and physically.
Thinking of you xx

@tiantian1005 they said it could be up to 10 working days from Saturday (so might be 31st October) but I’m hoping it’s not that long.
I’m just trying to forget we had it done! (Not that that’s easy!!)
I’m 39 and have got a BMI currently of about 30-31, as I’ve put weight on already 😬 so I’m quite high risk from those 2 factors, that’s why we had the nipt done privately.
How long did they say to you that you might have to wait for the results?

@Janch13 we’re not going to find out whether we’re having a boy or a girl, if we can help it (they kept asking us over and over again on Saturday which makes it’s hard!). If all goes well, this will be our first baby, I think you’re right though that it’s different with a second baby! It would be nice to tell your DS if he’s getting a younger brother or sister!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 17/10/2022 14:06

So sorry @Summerwaves8 - I've been in your shoes. Treat yourself and your partner with kindness, it's still one of the worst days of my life and took a while to process.

Our 12 week scan is on Nov 9th and I am very anxious that it'll be the same news, just have to hope not!

Janch13 · 17/10/2022 14:53

@Summerwaves8 I’m so so sorry to hear. Sending you all the strength & support xx

Flowersflowers121 · 17/10/2022 16:47

@Summerwaves8 so sorry 🤍sending you big love xx

@Flowersflowers121 I did have a private scan booked for Sunday but have moved it to tomorrow, something just feels off. I've lost all my symptoms the last few days so just want some reassurance. I am 9 weeks today xx

lmw88 · 17/10/2022 19:44

How’s everyone this week? I’m 10+3 today. I’ve finally given in and upped the bra size…nausea is still kicking in in waves…have my first scan next Thursday. Nerves already kicked in. Just hoping for the best up to that point, so difficult to know if things are going to plan or not. Was so tempted to book a private scan earlier but I think I’d want one every few weeks so trying to hold off.
Only my partner and sister know so it’ll be nice to finally let others know. It’s such a sensitive topic as I know people who have been unable to conceive / had multiple miscarriages so feeling a bit apprehensive as to how to go about telling though I’m not into big announcements I don’t like fuss.

lmw88 · 17/10/2022 19:45

@Flowersflowers121 hope it goes well for you and you get some reassurance tomorrow x

lmw88 · 17/10/2022 19:56

@Summerwaves8 Sending you strength to get through this sad time for you x

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 17/10/2022 20:37

@lmw88 the advice is usually to text those you may hurt, and not assume how they will feel about it. Eg "I just wanted to let you know that x and I are expecting a baby in May 2023"

I am also considering larger bras... My boobs are not appreciating being squished.

Becca071996 · 17/10/2022 20:39

@lmw88 @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I'm with you on the bras!! I've always been very small chested I can't quite believe I actually have boobs for once! I've gone from a small B to nearly a D already Confused

lmw88 · 17/10/2022 20:59

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl thanks, sounds good just something short to the point. I have no doubt they will be happy for us but always that little bit of apprehension.

@Becca071996 @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl i feel like a new woman today with a new bra 😂

raffika · 17/10/2022 22:02

@Summerwaves8 I’m so sorry for you loss, thinking of you.

@lmw88 I measured for new bras and ordered some but none of them fitted, so trying again! I can feel the band in my current bras is tight but my under bust measurement is the same, so checked the cups and gone up 2 sizes!

I’m 10+3 today as well. I had my booking in on Friday and my NHS scan is booked for 1st November. We’re going to start navigating telling family, beyond our parents, and close friends between now and then. Husband was kind enough to tell me I’m looking thicker in the waist, despite my reduced appetite and careful choices, so I’m having to be careful what I wear for work, definitely don’t want the cat out of the bag just yet (beyond my directors, who know).

lmw88 · 17/10/2022 22:20

@raffika how nice to have someone the exact same date. How have you been feeling overall?
im similar up cup sizes!

I think until the scan we’re going to keep it to ourselves….it’s just over another week. My sister knows as we had a family wedding a few weeks ago and I needed someone to know for back up.

I ate like crazy week 6-8 with the constant nausea. I’ve pulled back a bit now and started being a bit more sensible again.

i wear a work uniform so I’ll be putting the order in for bigger size next week….can feel my current one getting a little snug. Once I’ve had my scan and told people the pressure will be off a little.

Hello, I accidentally joined March thread 🙄 baby brain and exhaustion is real!

redbigbananafeet · 18/10/2022 12:57

23/5 hoping for first baby. I had a missed silent miscarriage in February which resulted in a D&C around 11 weeks. Not to be a Debbie Downer but I am really struggling to enjoy this pregnancy as I am convinced every twinge and drop of discharge is another miscarriage. I'm 9 weeks today and struggling.

Becca071996 · 18/10/2022 13:01

@redbigbananafeet I know how you feel, I've had a couple of miscarriages and every little thing I'm freaking out about. I caved a booked a private so an for today. I am also around 9 weeks
Hope the anxiety gets better for you x

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 18/10/2022 13:47

@redbigbananafeet me too, very similar situation (no living child, previous missed miscarriage at 12 weeks), feeling exactly the same. Not helped by having cervix cramps a lot today and yesterday.

There is a thread for those due May after miscarriage / pregnancy loss here www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/4616195-due-aprilmay-after-mc?page=19 - very helpful as they all know exactly how everyone feels

TheBeesKnee · 18/10/2022 16:11

I bought a new bra weeks ago, I went from a 32D to a 32F 🤯

10 weeks atm and most symptoms are gone, which is making me very paranoid as I am also worried about missed miscarriage.

My 12 week scan happens to be on Halloween, so I just need to hold out until then.

I have booked my flu jab for Thursday, it was difficult to find an appointment this week! But as I will be expected in the office 3-4 days over the next 2 weeks I wanted to get it over and done with.

Flowersflowers121 · 18/10/2022 18:48

Hope everyone is doing good and coping well <3

12 week scan today was really good :) new due date of April 26th as measuring ahead at 12 weeks 6 days.

Wriggly little thing, doing somersaults and everything haha :) so relieved and wishing everyone good luck with theirs when they come around <3

Congratulations @Flowersflowers121 !

@redbigbananafeet, I'm in the same boat. I've been horrifically nauseous and on Monday didn't feel quite so bad so immediately panicked that it had gone wrong. I'm paying for it now!

lmw88 · 18/10/2022 19:39

@Flowersflowers121 this is so precious. I’m getting mine next Thursday.x

i83 · 18/10/2022 21:21
