@TFMinx ahh that’s brilliant news! Aw congratulations hope the shock wears off soon!

sarahj878 · 21/06/2022 18:44

Hi @SareBear87 welcome and glad your scan went well, do you know what you’re having?

@Bramblecrumble21 thats interesting re the extra scans they are doing

Dontbeaneejit · 21/06/2022 20:05

Finally had our 20 week scan. A girl! Can't quite believe it. Have an anterior placenta though which I'm a bit gutted about. Never had that before and I'm worried it's going to muffle the movements so much I won't know whether they're reduced or not. Anyone had one before? Do you know if it makes much of a difference later on? I can feel some movements now but quite subtle and I'm 21 weeks!

Bramblecrumble21 · 21/06/2022 20:14

@sarahj878 I should not have looked through my notes and googled about the reason for a repeat scan. It's uterine pi levels. To do with blood flow to the placenta. On the right ride it's normal and on the left it's above the 99th percentile. It can indicate a badly performing placenta and lead to restricted growth or pre-eclampsia. The probe was right on the section of my abdomen I have had intermittent pain since going into labour first time, and when I had periods since. Where I get the most, what I think is round ligament pain.

But I have to remember the somographer said she's not been doing this part of the ultrasound first and my first baby grew well.

I do when I feel my bump, mostly feel my pulse.

TFMinx · 21/06/2022 20:21

Thank you @sarahj878 fortunately, DS is delighted that he's going to have a sister, so that's a relief. I still can't get over it being a girl, but also so excited and happy

I think thats the most up to date list!

Im everyone who had their scans today/ recently went well and its exciting to have some girls in the mix 😊 congratulations! 💜

I cant remember who asked i had an anterior placenta with my first, i had no problems feeling movements slightly muted but he was a violent wriggler, and when he was quiet if i prodded he moved 😂 he also used to hiccup alot upside down near my hip and that was the weirdest feeling because i had no idea what it was until he was born and he hiccuped and i recognised it! Sadly though my husband only felt him move once with a hand on my tummy.

I saw my best friend today who i hadnt seen for a couple of months and she said i had a bump, i said are you sure its not flab she laughed and just said im bigger than the same stage i was with ds but it looks like a bump so ill take it!
She also gave me a bag of maternity clothes as she had a baby in Jan and we are about the same size so im chuffed with that as i was really struggling to find nice stuff (she has good taste!)

@TFMinx im glad your scan went ok, do you feel a little better now? Haha hes going to be gutted its not a dinosaur!

@Bramblecrumble21 my friend it having to have extra scans an appointments because she has low hormone levels (i think thats what it is!) i guess its reassuring they are keeping an eye and looking after you?

Welcome to the newbies 😊

Thanks @NotAdultingToday I'm so relieved; I'll definitely sleep better tonight!

My placenta is touching, but not over, my cervix, so I have to have another scan at 36 just to make sure it's moved up by then Smile

rickandmorts · 21/06/2022 22:00

Thanks for starting a new thread @NotAdultingToday. Please can I be added for the 30th? Can't copy and paste on my phone for some reason.

This is a strange stage of pregnancy. Look a bit fat and bloated but not feeling any physical symptoms like nausea anymore. I'm 17 weeks having my 20 week scan at 21 weeks and 4 weeks seems like a long time away Sad. Wish I could feel some kicks or something to reassure me! Don't really have 60 quid spare for a private scan too! Had my 16 week midwife appt last week but she didn't use a doppler to hear heartrate.

ChasingRainbows22 · 21/06/2022 22:04

Lovely to read about all the positive scans and congrats and welcome @SareBear87!

My anterior placenta is low too, so they'll check at later scans, I've some booked for 30 and 34 weeks I think because of my age and/or history of losses. The sonographer said it will most likely move up as the baby grows but if not I could need a caesarean which wouldn't choose but I don't think I'd mind.

I got some good maternity jeans from ASOS, they have a big selection and so comfy, I can see them coming in handy long after pregnancy for big meals 😂

SareBear87 · 21/06/2022 22:41

Thank you for the warm welcome!

We're not finding out if we're having a boy/girl. We're just glad to be having a healthy baby so figured it doesn't matter either way. Plus the guessing games and old wives tales are quite good fun!

This probably sounds really daft but it still hasn't sunk in we're having a baby. I don't feel pregnant, just quite bloated 😅

Glad everyone's scans are going well! I think I might be tempted by a private scan around week 30. Not seeing baby until the birthday seems like an absolute age!!

TFMinx · 21/06/2022 22:58

@ChasingRainbows22 my placenta is the same as yours. Fingers crossed they move and we don't need c-sections.

Adding in my due date as 29/11 🥰 have my 20 week scan on 4th July and had my midwife appointment yesterday. Can't believe I'm nearly half way there!

Good luck to everyone 😊

Dope! I spent a while wondering why no one was posting on the old thread, only just found this one..

Just caught up, glad to hear lots of good news from you all. I've had my 16-week appointment and heard the heartbeat. 2 week countdown until 20 week scan now. I am not sure if I have definitely felt any movement yet, impatient for the kicks to start for reassurance.

I can't work out how to add my name to the due date list - if someone doesn't mind I am due 22nd November.

Had a very busy week, thank goodness my energy is somewhat returned! 3 days til my scan 🥳

Otterses · 24/06/2022 19:01

Figure I may as well post this here as I’m too ashamed to tell anyone in real life ☺️

I had a job interview today (in my defence I did apply long before I knew I was pregnant …) and went to great lengths to hide obvious bump, and it all went very well till the last question. For some reason the last three weeks sickness has become an issue again and I vomited in my mouth at the final question and felt I had no choice but to swallow it. At that point I’d gotten so distracted I’d completely lost track of my answers and totally cocked it up 😁

How’s everyone getting on? Can’t lie, I’m so happy the heat finally seems to have broken!

Feb85 · 25/06/2022 09:33

So lovely to read such positive news on lots of scans this week.
@TFMinx hope you are feeling better and a lot more reassured now.

TFMinx · 25/06/2022 11:38

Thank you, @Feb85, I am so much better now after the scan Smile

Ooh I finally found you guys! I thought it had gone a bit quiet then realised the last thread was full! I am 18 weeks now and sooo desperate for my 20 wk scan to find out whether I'm destined to be a mum of boys or one of each! 😬😬 time is going so slowly!! Argh! On the plus side my elective section is booked for 39 weeks so I know this little one will be arriving in the week of 14th November! Yay! 🥰

ChasingRainbows22 · 26/06/2022 11:19

@Otterses no need to be ashamed about that! You've gotta do what you've gotta do, preferable to vomiting on the desk 😂

Has anyone started looking at antenatal classes? My midwife gave me a flyer for a local midwife led group and was not very complementary about NCT, but I know it's good for meeting people, not sure what to do...

Beanniebaby22 · 26/06/2022 16:37

Hi! Can I join? Only just found this thread today. Have been a Mumsnet lurker for a long time but this is my first time posting lol.

Currently 19 + 2 with my first baby, due 18th November, and wow can’t believe how many others have the same due date! ☺️

We have our anomaly scan tomorrow and hoping to find out the gender! Have wanted to be pregnant for a long time so trying to enjoy every minute even though the first trimester was hard on me (Hyperemesis Gravidarum ugh 🤢) really hoping the rest of the journey is a lot better! 😊

ALittleBitofVitriol · 27/06/2022 04:40

Congratulations @Beanniebaby22 ! Hope your scan goes well!

I had my scan today, all looks great, as we predicted another boy for us! Thrilled! That's 1 girl and now 4 boys! 😆💜

@Beanniebaby22 welcome.
@ALittleBitofVitriol that's lovely with your scan. I need a repeat one in August, I didn't find out last week but not sure if I'll hold out. Hope you're week is calmer.
@ChasingRainbows22 we did NCT last time with my first. It was allright, tailered to our groups pregnancy and areas we wanted to know more. We had a lot on pain relief options and the process of induction. But after the babies were born we only met up a couple of times before they were 6 months, now most families have moved. This time I'll see about NHS ones if they're at a convenient time.
I'm 21 weeks and I've felt lots of movement the past 3 weeks but not much yesterday from lunch time. Some days it is more still but... I'm just a bit more worried this time. I need another scan due to potential blood flow/placenta issue so I'll call up and talk about it. I need to call anyway as a letter came through for a generic obstetrics appointment saying scan appointments sent out separately. I'm only expecting a scan not an obsectrics appointment. Plus it's on a day we're on holiday.

roobearbaby · 27/06/2022 08:06

20 weeks today!! Can't believe we are halfway through....still feels like yesterday I did a Pregnancy test!!
