I've added myself, also due on 9th with my 2nd. Have my 20 week scan and really hoping to find out what it is.

Dontbeaneejit · 14/06/2022 21:45

Honestly I love my boys. DH and I are from boy heavy families so it's what we know. Still a little girl would be lovely. My two would love a sister too.

Awww that sounds lovely! We have lots of boys in our family we make jokes we have enough for a football team!

How's everyone down south coping with the heat?
Heartburn is more real today, went out for a meal yesterday.
I have a girl and my family is quite balance male/female. She is like a mini me. But really, each child is so different I don't feel like a boy would be any new territory than another girl. New territory would be a newborn who does not love sleep as much as my girl did. And she's still a heavy enough sleeper that we can plan for her to sleep in the car then transfer her to bed asleep. It's her 4th birthday this week.

Morning - Just added me on, due 18th but baby will be via c section latest 39 weeks so will be week earlier. Cant believe we are nearing the half way mark

NotAdultingToday · 16/06/2022 14:11

@Bubbano2 im hoping for a csection too! No idea when they plan to do it though

@Bramblecrumble21 im hating the heat but i hate it normally so not much different.
That is very true every baby is different! My son isnt the biggest fan of sleep so it would be nice if this baby slept a bit more!

Bubbano2 · 16/06/2022 15:08

@NotAdultingToday I am actually in the middle of changing hospitals as didn't feel very confident with the way it was panning out. I had two appointments cancelled and replaced with a phone call. I wouldn't of been due to meet the consultant to discuss c section until 32 weeks and it just felt so far away. Hopefully the new hospital I can see them face to face.

Hope you know more soon too.

sarahj878 · 16/06/2022 17:07

@Bubbano2 hope you are able to have a face to face appt, my appt is over the phone too and also been advised that the telephone call could be anywhere between 9 and 1! Fortunately I have a face to face with anaethetist so going to raise that I want to meet consultant face to face if poss. Ultimately though I ended up with a completely different consultant and anaesthetist to who I’d seen throughout last time so I think I feel more relaxed about it because of that

Bubbano2 · 17/06/2022 12:10

@sarahj878 I haven't heard any talks about anaesthetist yet. Doctor referred me to the different hospital this morning and had a call at 11am from them booking in my 20 week scan so feel much more positive. They said I will get consultant appointment through and if I haven't by my scan they will sort this when I am there. Fingers crossed.

TFMinx · 17/06/2022 19:03

Scan is on Tuesday and I'll be 20 weeks on Wednesday. My family is really boy heavy, however with cousins' children, the girls are beginning to make a comeback. The wait for Tuesday is taking forever.

roobearbaby · 17/06/2022 21:42

My husband just felt movement from the outside for the first time tonight!

We were SO excited 🤣🤣

WandaVon · 17/06/2022 22:46

Hi all. Excited to follow everyone's journeys. I'm due on the 18th.

Cocobeau · 18/06/2022 06:23

@roobearbaby thats so lovely! Do you feel a lot on the inside? Weirdly my husband said he thought he felt movement when he had his arm across my belly a couple of days ago but I didn’t feel anything. In fact I’m not sure I have felt anything at all yet so I don’t even know if that’s possible.

ChasingRainbows22 · 18/06/2022 07:18

Hi everyone, I thought it was quiet on the other thread 😂 We had our 20 week scan this week (at 19 weeks) everything looked healthy and normal so above all we're so very relieved and happy. I found out I'm having a boy, I'd always dreamed of having a little girl and since this will be our only child I'm adjusting a bit - mums of boys can you tell me what you love about having sons? (I know every child is so different and I'm not one for gender stereotyping but I'm curious to hear peoples experiences!) x

ChasingRainbows22 · 18/06/2022 07:20

@roobearbaby that's so amazing, you have a powerful baby in there! My placenta is at the front so I'm not feeling loads, I hope that changes soon

roobearbaby · 18/06/2022 08:42

I actually have an anterior placenta too but I am naturally very skinny which can mean you feel it sooner.

For the last couple of weeks it has just been movements in the evening after dinner and just one here and there but now I am starting to feel them fairly regularly.

I'm lying in bed and can feel a little wiggle now in fact!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 18/06/2022 08:49

Congratulations @ChasingRainbows22 ! Boys are wonderful! I have 3 and they are so so sweet.

Starting to feel little wriggles more regularly now, especially after meals, which is fun! And I still feel huuuuge. 9 days til our next scan!

TFMinx · 18/06/2022 09:19

I haven't felt anything yet and starting to worry. Hopefully Tuesday's scan will show all is well, but I just have the most awful feeling that something's gone wrong. Mi have OCD, so once an intrusive thought gets in my head, it's almost impossible to shake.

sarahj878 · 18/06/2022 11:44

@Bubbano2 hope it goes well at new hospital.

@roobearbaby aw that’s lovely how many weeks are you?

@TFMinx try not to worry, easier said than done I know but movements can still be really irregular at this stage so maybe baby is wriggling more when you’re asleep and you’re not noticing it or maybe you have anterior placenta? I’ve heard if you have something to eat and drink that’s a bit sugary, a cold fizzy drink and lie down on left side somewhere quiet for a while you stand a good chance of feeling movements

I’ve been feeling little movements for a while but not regular. When the midwife listened to baby’s heartbeat the other day tho we could hear the movements but I wasn’t feeling them so that is reassuring

roobearbaby · 18/06/2022 12:45

@sarahj878 I am 18+5

TFMinx · 18/06/2022 12:59

Thanks @sarahj878 I've been trying to remember when I could first feel movement with my son, but I can't remember at all.

sarahj878 · 18/06/2022 14:04

@TFMinx I’m the same, can’t quite remember, am sure they will be kicking away soon

ALittleBitofVitriol · 19/06/2022 03:08

I've read anywhere from 18-22 weeks for feeling first movements is completely normal. I'm 19+3 and the movements are still irregular and feint, so easy to write off as gas or digestion or something else. And some babies are just more relaxed, some mums have more room.

Otterses · 19/06/2022 16:12

@ChasingRainbows22 DH has really struggled this time round (he was really hoping for a girl and this will be our last baby) and I think what really helped him was taking the space and time to feel disappointed rather than hiding it if that makes sense. I think it’s perfectly normal to experience gender disappointment, there’s an element of I think grieving what you won’t have.

I have a four year old DS who is fantastic 😁 though I may be biased. He’s incredibly affectionate, cheeky, energetic, funny, all the things you’d get with a child of either gender. Though he is slightly obsessed with going in the garden to look for spiders/ants/woodlice/slugs/whatever the bug of his choosing is …
