That's just it isn't it @Beanniebaby22! The unknown. I could potentially be 9 or even 4 (would be amazing if baby is big and healthy enough). For now I'm telling myself stick to my due date and then take it from there if we make it that far.

Has anyone booked anything for the next few weeks? I'm taking my LO Apple and pumpkin picking in a couple weeks, and for an autumn forest trail next week.

OtiMama · 13/10/2022 22:26

@VolcanicProtectorMan I was the same, only contractions and waters went when I pushed baby out.

I've gone from having worries on fluid and growth to this week's measurement showing baby growing a huge amount compared 2 weeks ago. Have no idea now but glad all seems OK with him. I had a test for my waters breaking yesterday, spent 5.5 hours at the hospital. They haven't which is a relief. I didn't think they had but consultant wanted to be sure. I have to go back next week for another fluid scan and the following week for another growth scan. Although its nice to see baby I am fed up of it now, will have had over 10 scans and any needing consultant follow up take forever. I cannot complain really (I know I just did) as at least they are monitoring us closely.

@Kathno4 my measurements are still around 5 weeks behind but having so many scans I know baby is fine and my bump probably won't catch up. The consultant said they just have to use it as an initial measure for checks but some people are all baby and fluid and no extra bump!

@CurlyNo2 are you still seeing your midwife regularly too? Could you ask them to confirm the situation re the glucose test? Maybe all trusts have different rules but it does seem odd.

Kaykiscout · 13/10/2022 23:31

@CurlyNo2 I think the cut off is meant to be 28 weeks, you literally get a 4 week window to test using the GTT.

I think you can ask to self test sugar levels with finger pricks every day if you're worried, than you can at least check sugar levels and eat to keep them at the safe level for GD. Agree with @OtiMama call your midwife and ask if they've got an alternative care they can offer, (like the finger pricks).

You can probably ask them to check babys and yours sugar levels when they arrive as a precautionary too as I think that's the additional monitoring post natally that you'd get if you had GD.

CurlyNo2 · 14/10/2022 00:32

Thanks ladies.

Just home from an evening spent at my local
maternity hospital with reduced movements. Hardly felt anything all day, and baby is normal very active. Took myself off to get checked and as soon as I sat down in the waiting room, baby went crazy! Had a 6 hour wait to be seen. All is ok and they’re happy with the movements now.

These babies do sure like to scare us.

Kaykiscout · 14/10/2022 07:24

I'm sure that happens in almost all circumstances, they wait till you take yourself in then make themselves known right before you get seen and then you feel silly 😂 glad everything is okay!

Novella12 · 14/10/2022 09:01

Just need a little rant. Anyone else's husband/partner/friend, when you tell them you're tired or in pain, say 'oh, I feel like that too and I'm not even pregnant!'

My husband does this EVERY TIME and I find it a bit minimising. Is it wrong that I just want him to tell me it sounds awful and to bring me some chocolate?

greenerfingers · 13/10/2022 21:09

I'm the last few days of November so I still have 7 weeks 😂. Longest time of my life. With my son I had zero symptoms so this time round I'm going to try and just relax and not symptom spot after 37 weeks. I was a bit mental the first time 😅

Same, my DD is 30th November and if I go to 42 weeks we're looking at mid December which seems years away 😭

greenerfingers · 14/10/2022 10:43

For now I've told myself get to 37 weeks @rickandmorts and then 40. It's the only way I'll stay sane. My son came at 39+6. Hoping this one's a little earlier but a lot of my friends ended up going over with no.2 rather than earlier so trying not to have my hopes high.

Eryr22 · 14/10/2022 11:02

I'm 37+3 today and cannot stop symptom checking!! I've had some period pains the last 2 nights but only mild. Both sisters had their first at 37+6 so I've annoyingly got this date engrained in my brain!! Don't even know if there is any kind of genetic link to when your first baby comes?! Had an antenatal appointment 3 days ago and I'm 4/5 engaged. Just keep reminding myself that the absolute longest wait until she'll be here is 4 and a half weeks, but likely less, and that seems to help 😅

CurlyNo2 · 14/10/2022 11:29

Time really does slow down at this stage! My son came at 40+5. I won’t go past 40+1 so only have 5 weeks and 6 days max! Eek!! My PGP is terrible today, I walk like I’m about a 100 years old.

Got babies clothes in the wash this morning so I can pack their bag and then I’m ready to go whenever baby wants to make an appearance - although maybe anytime after 37 weeks would be grand (34+1 now).

Being at the hospital sat night was scary as I was a bit worried about babes movements. But, it was also very exciting. Sitting in the cubicle I could hear doctors discussing induction plans for today for a few women, and women whose waters had broke and had started having contractions. Knowing that in a short (or long!) time, these ladies would have their beautiful babies. This will soon be us 😊

Kaykiscout · 14/10/2022 12:58

Yes I think there is a potential genetic link @Eryr22 but it will potentially include your partner's genetics too! Our trust says 37-38 weeks is "early term" which is a new way of looking at it so sounds like they would want it to go on longer if possible. I've read of women going 43+ weeks!

My first was 41+3 after a sweep but this one has been head down for about 6 weeks (37w next week) and it is agony if I sit on or use anything soft now so hoping we don't go that long this time! Only just got my human sized pregnancy pillow out for a cosy comfy rest the other night and it turns out it gives me all day aches because it's too soft 😭. I'm having to sit on work calls on the birth ball like an absolute nutter 🙈

smiles39 · 14/10/2022 18:43

So was told baby was measuring too big at 28 and 32 weeks, maybe needing growth scans. Wasn’t that bothered by this.

But now at 34 weeks they apparently haven’t grown enough so referred for growth scans. I wasn’t bothered when it was ‘too big’ but not growing enough... I know fundal measurements are inaccurate but it’s worrying me.

OtiMama · 14/10/2022 20:38

@smiles39 I had the same thing re growth dropping but then 2 weeks later baby has picked up his growth again and whilst they are still monitoring me its a good sign. It is hard not to worry as i agree its different to baby generally being big or small but they will monitor you and check your placenta, cord etc. I have been in and out of hospital so much now I just feel grateful they are being cautious by monitoring and that should baby need to come earlier than planned what will be will be.

All that being said if you haven't had a scan yet, it could well all be fine and just all baby rather than you/bump!

1ce1cebaby · 14/10/2022 21:37

@CurlyNo2 that does sound odd. I had a GTT on Tuesday due to measuring big too and I was 36+1 weeks

Bramblecrumble22 · 14/10/2022 21:52

@smiles39 I had growth scans at 28,32,36 weeks and at 32 it had changed to a head down position, they said that's quite a normal time to do that. I haven't had any fundal measurements but, especially to begin with a head down position felt more spacious. Hopefully it's all positional and nothing to worry about.

greenerfingers · 14/10/2022 22:40

Seeing as we're at 990 a new thread will be needed soon. I have no idea how to set one up or I would. Shall we leave it to you @NotAdultingToday

Domibeva · 15/10/2022 06:32

@smiles39
ive had growth scans all way through as last baby was born at 9th centile. This time at 28 w baby was 10th centile at 32 was 45th centile and I have another growth scan now on Monday at almost 37 weeks! I’m not worrying about it - my LG was born 40+2 supposed 9th centile at 7lb 3oz!

its so hard not to worry about it but they get things so bloody wrong sometimes it’s frustrating!

NotAdultingToday · 15/10/2022 07:46

Awww thank you for letting me know @greenerfingers i will do it 😊

amyrose223 · 15/10/2022 07:56

My baby was measuring just over the 50th but has dropped to just above the 5th, I have another scan on Tuesday which is 5 days after my previous scan... if no improvement do you think I'll be induced? The doctor told me I would have a scan in 2 weeks but I got a call to say it's on Tuesday which is only 5 days...

OtiMama · 15/10/2022 08:34

@amyrose223 how far gone are you? Your measurements are similar to how mine were. Consultant told me they can only scan every 2 weeks for accurate comparisons. I've noticed this does seem to vary though and maybe if you haven't got long to go they don't want to wait another 2 weeks? Either that or the person that booked it in wasn't aware of their instruction.

My baby feels like he's on the move, hope he's turning the right way!

amyrose223 · 15/10/2022 08:36

@OtiMama I'm 37 weeks next Friday, I feel like 2 weeks is too long to wait to see if the baby has stopped growing so I'm glad they have got me in earlier, they said they would induce me at 38 if he's dropped more but now with having an earlier scan I feel like the plan has changed and I've not been told 😫

GeorgieEm · 22/10/2022 17:16

Anyone else feeling totally exhausted when they do 'normal' things?! I have to tell myself I'm 4 Wks off of having a baby! But Jeez I'm so done in ! Hope everyone's doing ok. X

TFMinx · 22/10/2022 19:40

Hi @GeorgieEm there's now a thread 4, so probably best to pop onto that one Smile

amyrose223 · 22/10/2022 19:41

GeorgieEm · 22/10/2022 19:42
