@hayu19 @Elle1709 how exciting for you both to have a date that you're going to meet your babies 👶 good luck with your c-sections!

I've got just under 6 weeks left now until my due date (20th Nov), I'm really starting to feel it now with a 13 month old as well! I know I'll miss being pregnant after though, so trying to enjoy this last little bit 🤰🏻still haven't finished my hospital bag yet, so I need to get that sorted asap

NotAdultingToday · 10/10/2022 11:22

TFMinx oh no i hope its not too bad for you!

@hayu19 how exciting? At least you have a date and can plan

@OtiMama its horrible isnt it? Thats makes me feel a bit better that ds had to come. Its like they know its important to be good isnt it?
I have heard a few people say over the years that the flu jab makes you feel unwell, touchwood i have been lucky and just had a sore arm

@CurlyNo2 bless you! That must be so hard!

Both my hospital bag and babies bag are half packed! I need to get sorted. Priorities though snacks and a charger were the first things in there 😂
Even though i know im having a csection its still hard as i wont have a date until the 25th. My dad keeps asking me as he said he will give us a lift in (husband doesnt drive) and wants to book it off and im like im at the mercy of the nhs i dont know! (Which he should understand as he is a nurse!!) also mil is keeping her diary free around that time so hopefully we will be ok 🤞🏻

@greenerfingers thats so hard! Honestly i don't know how people are coping in taxing jobs at the moment!
That would do my head in! I have it the other way people are surprised im further along. I must have looked really fat before 😂

Oooo thats exciting @Elle1709 soon we will have to create a born list!

I cant say ill miss being pregnant as hate it 😂 but i am a little sad as i think this will be our last one.
Bubs is having a proper wiggle today, the best way to describe it is like snakes under my skin moving around!

@Kaykiscout I think it depends on the case. I wasn't just sent home for low fluids and having monitoring even now. @ALittleBitofVitriol Yeah in some ways it would be easier to understand if they explain these things, i seem to learn more each time i go for a scan. Mine was 4.8 and they didn't seem bothered that week but when it dropped to 3 in a week they then wanted me back in 2 days later for another scan. Surely 15 is the total isn't it, rather than the largest pool? That seems massive to me but maybe that is just because I'm on the lower end.

@greenerfingers that was me first time round, so organised in advance and just waiting for baby. Complete opposite this time. I'm also the complete opposite to you as in when I say I have 6 weeks to go people say I look so small. Everyone has a comment either way and never helpful in making you feel better is it!

WandaVon · 10/10/2022 13:39

Hi all. Delighted some of you have dates already. I'm jealous. I have GD. Been on the diet since August 17 and it's really starting to grate on me now. I was signed off on Friday for bad SPD and that'll bring me up to my maternity leave starting. I'm in Ireland so none of this forced early maternity leave nonsense many of you have to deal with in the UK.

I have a growth scan on Oct 21, but I'm not putting any stock in it. My daughter was estimated to be 3.3kg and ended up being 3.99kg.

Bethanllman · 10/10/2022 19:37

Hi all!

I hope it is ok to message this here and please remove if not.

I’m currently training to be a psychotherapist for children and adolescents. As part of this training I need to complete observations of a baby from its early days
to learn about physical and cognitive development. I think it will be an amazing experience and is also a critical part of the training.

If anyone in London might be open to me telling them a bit more about this with the view to potentially observing their baby I would be so grateful. It’s a big ask I know but perhaps someone who is interested in this area may be open to it.

Best wishes to everyone with your pregnancies! Please do reply if you would be open to hearing more

Thanks, Bethan

CurlyNo2 · 11/10/2022 10:45

Just been for a growth scan, I’m 33+4 and according to the scan baby is massive at 6.7lb.

I’ve been referred to the antenatal team who will arrange a GD test, just to check.

If It comes back that I’m positive for GD would I need to deliver early?

I’m not overly concerned about babies predicted weight as I know how unreliable they are, more about the potential to have GD as I didn’t have this with my son. I was measuring big with midwife throughout pregnancy but all ok in the scans.

Elle1709 · 11/10/2022 11:41

@CurlyNo2 I got checked for GD as baby is measuring big, I didn't have it but they said if you do have it they suggest induction at 39 weeks or c section at 38 weeks in my trust and I think you get referred to a specialist GD team. Hope this helps.

CurlyNo2 · 11/10/2022 12:19

Thanks @Elle1709 thats really helpful. Induction isn’t an option for me due to past experience so I’d choose c-section. I’m booked in for section at 40+1 anyway, so I’m sure they’d just bring the date forward.

Kaykiscout · 11/10/2022 15:26

@CurlyNo2 6.7lb! I'd request a rescan, surely that's not right at 33 weeks!

The NICE guidelines recommend induction or C-section at 41 weeks for pregnant people with GD so what you have planned shouldn't change at all. A lot of the time it's diet controlled too. You and baby will have extra monitoring for labour and afterwards and I think you go for a test to see if it's actually undiagnosed type 2 a few weeks after you've had baby (unlikely if not FTM)

I'll link the guidelines but also recommend checking out the midwives cauldron podcast on GD which is really reassuring, other than a big baby which does have a few risks, as does basically everything ever, all the other stats they might mention are actually based on a suspect study group of EVERYONE with all types of diabetes and by lumping them together it obscured the fact that the risks other than big baby aren't relative to GD.

CurlyNo2 · 11/10/2022 20:13

Thanks, she double checked all the measurements to be sure. To be fair, I’m very big at the minute.

OtiMama · 11/10/2022 21:17

That does sound fairly big baby, although I appreciate the measurements aren't that accurate. I feel I would wait to see if it is GD and what you can do to manage it and just review after that. You can of course turn down bringing the c-section forward, although I would feel OK having it earlier if I was having a c-section anyway and baby is fully "cooked" at 37 weeks. Of course it's personal preference but seems different to inducing a baby that isn't ready to be delivered naturally.

Kathno4 · 12/10/2022 22:56

Hey everyone, 37 weeks today had midwife and fundal height is now 5 weeks behind so waiting on a call to have another growth scan (baby around 47th percentile on all other growth scans) I feel the outer measurements are so far behind because baby has dropped and is at 1/5 engaged 😬 baby was measured around 5lb at 35 weeks so they’re expecting around 6lb this week. Everything’s starting to feel so real and although im getting a bit fed up I was actually hoping to get to at least the end of the month , how is everyone x

greenerfingers · 13/10/2022 01:40

I'd try not to worry too much @Kathno4 and ask them to check placental flow. If the placenta is looking healthy and everything else seems fine I would personally just wait the next few weeks till baby arrives naturally. Fundal height isn't an exact science and like you said, engagement will usually affect it.

I'm stuck at 33 weeks aha! I've been convincing myself I'll go early due to my spd and overall whaleness but some good friends have brought me back to reality at how they felt the same with no.2 and needed inductions. I'm trying to switch off counting weeks again (sigh). Will try and stay distracted the next month or so at least and then go back to my impatience Grin

P.s... never have a hot drink in bed when 33 weeks.. been twice to the loo now. First time barely made it. And now up again. Fun fun.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 13/10/2022 01:59

@Kathno4 fingers crossed the scans show all is well! I agree that if movements are good, cord blood flow is good etc then it's probably just engagement affecting fundal measurement. Is this your first bub? 37 weeks, not long now!

I'm 36 weeks today. Had another scan, bub is still breech and fluid is still low, a teeny little bit lower than last week. They monitored with ctg again, which was fine, and I'm supposed to go back again in 4 days and do it all again! If still breech/enough fluid then we'll book the ecv. I'm supposed to rest.

Kathno4 · 13/10/2022 04:38

This will be scan 8/9 this pregnancy due to being high risk. Thankfully up to now blood flow has always been brilliant.
this will be full term baby number 4 and I have really been suffering with my mental health this time around which I am getting help for 😬
other 3 came spontaneously at 40+5, 41 and 37+1, I feel that’s the reason im so anxious this week, knowing it can happen anytime,
@greenerfingers i am struggling with hot drinks, I always get like an acidy reflux thing going on after 🙈 never had it before…
@ALittleBitofVitriol my sister went through the same last year with her first and she said having an elective was the best thing she ever did, everything was so planned and calm 🥰 best of luck either way

ALittleBitofVitriol · 13/10/2022 06:06

@Kathno4 ah wow, yeah that would make me anxious too, really could be any day! 🤞 everything goes beautifully!
This is bub #5 for me and all my previous were low risk, spontaneous VB so it's quite strange to be in this position! I'm not upset about the prospect of a CS, we'll see how things pan out over the next couple of weeks.

greenerfingers · 13/10/2022 07:50

Ah you ladies are veterans @ALittleBitofVitriol @Kathno4. I want 4/5 kids but don't know if I can handle pregnancy every time. It's so hard on me physically. Wish I'd started having them when I was younger and fitter.

The hot drinks- acid reflux is usually my first indicator I'm pregnant @Kathno4. I randomly have tea come up a tiny bit at all times of the day and then lo and behold a week or so later I'm usually holding a positive test. It stops in my second trimester but this time it's back in the third. I don't mind it but last night I really really wanted a hot drink and coffee would have been too strong and hot chocolate too sweet BlushSmile

CurlyNo2 · 13/10/2022 13:19

Ladies does this sound right to you?

After my growth scan this week I was referred for a GD test and was told I’d be called that day with information. Having not received a call I have just rang the hospital.

The antenatal team have told me that because I am 34 weeks I am too late for a GTT test so my referral was rejected. I’m sure I have seen others who were much further along than me have them and are subsequently diagnosed.

My nerves are gone now in case I have GD and the implications it would have on the baby/pregnancy.

TFMinx · 13/10/2022 20:02

I've just had my 36 week appointment and my midwife has said that she thinks baby will follow her older brother and arrive at 38 weeks-ish - just two weeks away! I feel very unprepared now, not even packed a bag yet. I also just want her to be here now though

Beanniebaby22 · 13/10/2022 20:10

It’s getting so close now isn’t it? I’m getting scared 😅 Just wish you could know what day it’s going to happen rather than "any time between 37 and 42 weeks” that’s a pretty big window of time!

VolcanicProtectorMan · 13/10/2022 20:12

I have to say I’m not looking forward to the over-analysing every pain, knicker checking for mucus plugs etc 😂 I remember doing that all the time when I was 37w+

googling ‘is this a sign of labour?!’

greenerfingers · 13/10/2022 21:09

I'm the last few days of November so I still have 7 weeks 😂. Longest time of my life. With my son I had zero symptoms so this time round I'm going to try and just relax and not symptom spot after 37 weeks. I was a bit mental the first time 😅

Beanniebaby22 · 13/10/2022 21:17

I’m 35 weeks tomorrow. but yet could still in theory be waiting another 7 weeks myself!

VolcanicProtectorMan · 13/10/2022 21:22

I never got a ‘bloody show’ as I’d heard, though parts of the mucus plug were definitely coming out gradually. Mine was mostly the contractions thing which obviously I just needed to wait for 😂 no waters breaking, no clear out, no nothing!
