@MrsMCtobe
cvs is diagnostic, you'll know for sure if your baby has any conditions, but it comes with risk of miscarriage. Nipt is screening, it'll come back with a risk of either 0.1% or 99.9% (I think those are the figures, but you should have been told). Nipt can get it wrong if there's a vanishing twin or mosaicism for example.
Some trusts will offer cvs if the nipt comes back high risk, some trusts you have to pick one.
If you have to pick it makes sense to think about how you'd react to bad news. Personslly, if you'd abort for abnormalities then cvs gives you that certainty, if you wouldn't nipt is good enough to make preparations without the risk.

MrsMCtobe · 25/07/2022 14:32

@TamSamLam Thank you so much, they said I would only have an answer of high or low risk if I take the NIPT, what worries me is if it's more on the high risk scale if that makes sense? They will only offer both if the NIPT comes back as high risk. I'm hoping the doctor will be able to advise the best option based on the scan beforehand

TamSamLam · 25/07/2022 15:55

Whereas the combined screening gives a risk on a scale, nipt gives a risk but it's one of two results there is no scale. You want to look at the odds of a false negative and false positive.

MrsMCtobe · 26/07/2022 14:54

@TamSamLam Thank you so much, I ended up having the NIPT. The consultant said everything looked fine on the scan, so just a waiting game now

Frida9 · 26/07/2022 19:56

Hi, I have my dating scan tomorrow. At the moment my DD is 26th January but I'm pretty sure this will be pushed back into February. Was just wondering if anyone here doesn't "look" pregnant yet? I have no bump and still fit into my size 8 clothes despite being 13 weeks pregnant, I am taller at 5"7 but is this normal?

LemonZestDribbles · 26/07/2022 20:01

@41andtryingforfirst congratulations!!! I'm so excited for you ❤❤ I've been thinking about you so super pleased

Hope everyone is doing well. I've been quiet as sickness is getting to me. 14 weeks now though!

41andtryingforfirst · 26/07/2022 20:08

@LemonZestDribbles ah thank you! It's not been an easy ride, been spotting brown now for 6 days! Thankfully EPU are keeping an eye on me so I'm hopeful that all will be ok and it's just one of those wierd things that happens in early pregnancy.

So thrilled to hear that your pregnancy is progressing well. I hope your sickness subsides soon x

Waitin · 28/07/2022 09:36

Just an update. I finally got my NIPT results and all is low risk! 1 in 10,000 chance for all the ones tested. So relieved especially with the abnormal Nuchal translucency. Hope everyone gets their results soon too!

MrsMCtobe · 29/07/2022 05:59

@freckles503 oh that's brilliant news, so pleased for you. Please could I ask how long it took for your results? Did you go through the NHS? I only had mine done on Tuesday , feels like time has stopped!!

Waitin · 29/07/2022 10:35

@freckles503 oh that’s really nice to hear can imagine how relaxed you are enjoy your pregnancy .😊

ExpectingaRainbow · 29/07/2022 11:52

@MrsMCtobe FWIW I had mine on the Thursday evening and got the results on the Friday of the following week. I think it can also depend on which test (i.e where the lab is). I had IONA and the blood goes to Manchester but is put in the post and not sent by courier unlike some of the other labs.

The waiting is dreadful though, I jumped about a mile every time by watch virbrated with a notification!

MrsMCtobe · 29/07/2022 15:27

@ExpectingaRainbow Thank you so much. I'm not sure what test it was but they sent it to a lab in the West Midlands via Royal Mail, I was really shocked they use this method! Hopefully we will hear early next week x

freckles503 · 29/07/2022 16:19

@MrsMCtobe its took 13 days from the time I got blood drawn to get results. The wait just about killed me. I think that’s on the longer end as I hear most get their results back within 7-10 days.

Hi, how’s everyone getting on?
Just had my 16 week midwife appointment and heard the babies heartbeat for the first time! So exciting! Feel like I’m starting to get a bump now too

Aww I had mine today too! It was nice to hear the heartbeat. Can't wait for the next scan now

ExpectingaRainbow · 11/08/2022 21:24

Hi!!
I’m 18 weeks this week and have been feeling baby move the past few evenings which is blowing my mind..and I’ve definitely gone from looking like I’ve eaten a few too many snacks to definitely pregnant!
The early Jan folks must be having their 20 week scans any day now!!

Angelchops30 · 11/08/2022 23:01

@ExpectingaRainbow I'm 18+1 so my 20 week scan is in a couple of weeks. Also feeling more definitive movement, usually after I've been busy and just sat down tbh
Hope everyone's keeping cool and safe in this heat

hopingfor23 · 12/08/2022 12:29

My 20w scan is a week on Monday and I can't wait :-) we did have an early scan so know we have a little boy on the way but I have an anterior placenta so only just feeling movement now at 18+5! Hope everyone is doing well x

JenniferR2021 · 13/08/2022 10:04

I have my scan on the 22nd can't wait 😁

freckles503 · 13/08/2022 19:08

@MrsMCtobe any news on your results?

I’ve been dealing with a lot of headaches/migraines the past few weeks. Anyone else dealing with this too?

16 + 3 today and still can’t feel baby but hoping soon :)

@freckles503 I did, they came back low risk thankfully! I just need to try and stop worrying now, I also have low PAPP-A so now on aspirin 😬 Thank you so much for asking, hope you are doing ok

freckles503 · 13/08/2022 23:29

@MrsMCtobe so glad it came back low risk! That’s good you at least know about the PAPP-A so you can decrease your risk with aspirin. I was told to take aspirin too (for different reasons—I have a heart defect). It’s hard not to worry though.

LR89 · 14/08/2022 14:48

@ExpectingaRainbow ah that’s exciting!
can’t wait to feel some movements 🤩
still undecided whether to find out the gender yet at the 20 week

Sassy144 · 16/08/2022 16:19

Hey ladies, I'm 19 weeks and feeling baby move now too, definitely looking pregnant rather than just had a big lunch which is nice 😂 got my 20 week scan on 25th. I have low PAPP-A too so taking aspirin.
