@Casper94

Hi guys bit of a weird one. I've had a cold for the past week (definitely not covid I have done soooo many tests to make sure) and I'm near the end stages now just a bit snotty still. Anyway, yesterday my partner was cooking kebab meat for us and I had to leave the kitchen because the smell was really strange to me and I couldn't eat it. Then this afternoon I went to have a j2o and found that it smelt and tasted strange. And then to top it off I ordered a Chinese tonight and couldn't eat half of it because some of the bits had the same smell to me as the kebab meat did last night. I cannot for the life of me describe this smell/taste - it's almost like catch in the back of your throat when you inhale something chemical? Anyway this is my first pregnancy and I'm 6 weeks today so is this a baby related thing or should I be more concerned about this cold 😅
It is perfectly normal for your tastes to change and to be more sensitive to smells, I'd say it is pregnancy related.

@Casper94 after having covid my sense of smell to certain smells has definitely changed - and I had it Oct 2020!! But it could definitely also be pregnancy related too.

scoutcat · 29/03/2022 21:48

@Casper94 sorry I've just read that it's not covid - think someone needs her eyes testing 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

ALittleBitofVitriol · 30/03/2022 02:03

@Casper94 tastes/smells changing or being more sensitive is a very common symptom. One of the first things in my last pregnancy that made me test was a beautiful roast lamb - I couldn't stomach it, the taste was wrong. 😄

Casper94 · 30/03/2022 04:20

Thank you guys @cheetocat @scoutcat @alittlebitofvitriol that makes me feel better 😊 can't believe baby doesn't like wontons 🤣

ZoeQ90 · 30/03/2022 06:17

7 weeks. Had some brown discharge but also a small, grape-sized clot yesterday, should I contact my midwife? Seems the discharge and spotting is normal but I'm less sure about the clot.

Motherofpugs · 30/03/2022 07:48

@ZoeQ90 I would contact them, I did when I had some brown spotting. Spotting can be normal and is really common but it can also be something that needs to be checked out.

HitsAndMrs · 30/03/2022 08:26

Thank you @scoutcat and @motherofpugs

I cried to much on the scan bed that my body was shaking, the poor sonographer was trying to show me the baby!! Congratulations to you both too.
Exciting we are due date twins!

roobearbaby · 30/03/2022 08:31

@hitsandmrs I had my scan yesterday. The sonographer went quiet and then said "we have a baby with a heartbeat" and I had a complete breakdown 🤣. I couldn't stop crying I was so relieved

Aww lovely! Congratulations!! Sure they've seen it all before then :)

Hi, I just come across these threads. Just found out I'm pregnant with my 3rd. It wasn't planned me and husband had an oops moment and I even too the morning after pill back in Feb. I've recently started getting nauseous which I had with my other pregnancys so took a test. Don't want to believe it's real atm. Not sure on exact dates but I'm about 6-7weeks. Really scared to go from 2 to 3 kids. Already have 2 girls. Last baby is 4yo so been a while since I've had a baby. Going to be hard work fitting another little one in.
Just need to talk to people as we arnt telling anyone we know yet.
Is there anyone in the kent maidstone area. x

TwistofFate · 30/03/2022 11:07

Can I join? I'm pregnant with my 2nd, due 4th November. So far my main symptoms have been constipation and sore nipples. Pretty fatigued too but not sure if that's pregnancy or chasing my toddler around.

Bramblecrumble21 · 30/03/2022 13:16

Hi @lunalisa welcome.
@roobearbaby I'd expect they always go quiet to concentrate. Congratulations on your scan.
@twistoffate I'm also due 4th and it's my second AND very similar symptoms. I'm more tired on my days with my toddler than work. I've still got no date for my 12 week scan. Or booking appointments. Getting impatient and I keep checking my voicemail and emails as I'll be contacted anytime from last Friday (8 weeks) until 10 weeks. I'm getting inpatient. Last time my appointments were on the same weekday each time. I'm hoping it's a day I don't work this time round as I only work 3 days and it would be easier if they are when I'm not working.

We've told our 3 year old. It's a long scale to get their heads around. We are also planting seeds and so I said the baby will be ready about the same time as the pumpkin. Those seeds have just germinated today.

Cheetocat · 30/03/2022 13:40

@Bramblecrumble21 Planting seeds to grow along with the baby is such a beautiful idea! It's a great way to see progress when all the magic is happening inside us.

Hello! I'm in West Kent and also expecting our third (though planned in our case). Our youngest is three. That must have been a bit of a shock! How are you feeling about it?
Cheetocat · 30/03/2022 14:39

The progesterone I'm on has slowed the bleeding but it still hasn't stopped, I know everything looked lovely on the US but it's still so worrying, every time I wipe after a wee and see the blood I get a wave of dread over me.

Hi everyone, I'd love to join! Just got my BFP and app says I'm due 25th November. It was our first month TTC #1 so I'm in complete and utter shock, especially as I have PCOS.

I haven't had a single symptom up to now and I'm 5weeks 5days, is this the case for anyone else?

sarahj878 · 30/03/2022 15:41

@Bramblecrumble21 what a beautiful idea! If only I was green fingered I might have copied the idea when telling our son!

sarahj878 · 30/03/2022 15:43

@Cheetocat sorry to hear you’re still bleeding. Is it discharge or fresh bleeding? I had brown discharge at the weekend and the hospital told me not to be concerned if brown. A friend had bright red blood throughout the first trimester in her pregnancy and they never found a cause but baby was healthy. Have you tried calling EPU for advice?

Cruz86 · 30/03/2022 15:53

Hi @LunaLisa, I'm about 15 mins away from Maidstone! How are you feeling with this pregnancy? I have heard that the third child just slots in with everyone else, but I'm not sure how true that is as I've only got the one.

@Bramblecrumble21 I love the seeds and pumpkin idea!! Will definitely use something like that when telling my little boy.

@Cheetocat sorry you're still bleeding 😩 Did they say you have a haematoma or anything?

fuckwhatshouldido · 30/03/2022 17:38

@Casper94 I had that same chemical taste with one of my pregnancies! Weird and gross - and def pregnancy related Grin

Welcome @LunaLisa - I have 3 and it’s very hard work but my third is the absolute light of my life. Wouldn’t be without her ❤️

@Brideandprejudice I also have basically no symptoms - if I hadn’t tested would probably still have no idea I was pregnant. Taking it as I’ve just got lucky this time round!

AnxiousJane · 30/03/2022 17:38

Hi all, joining from the old thread. 7+4 today and feeling so sick and rubbish. I think today is the worst I've felt so far. Waiting on my appointment with the midwife. I had an private scan last Saturday and was measuring 2 days early but all as it should be and a good heartbeat. 🤞❤ xx

Brideandprejudice · 30/03/2022 19:09

@fuckwhatshouldido good to know I'm not the only one! I'd given up on testing because even 5/6 days after AF was due I got a BFN so if I hadn't randomly tested today I wouldn't have known either!

Jasmineandbaby · 30/03/2022 19:13

Hi, I just found this thread and would love to join, I just found out I am pregnant with my first, due date calculator says November 22nd, I have no symptoms asides from really sore nipples, which were a mare today as I was out today and they hurt even more when I am cold. it still feels surreal to me.

Cheetocat · 30/03/2022 19:30

@sarahj878 I had brown spotting for a couple of weeks but then on Sunday I had a real bleed with fresh blood so I went to A&E, it wasn't heavy but not super light either. Now I'm still having fresh bleeding but it's kind of diluted if that makes sense. I don't know what EPU is, I am from Ireland but live in Portugal. If it hasn't stopped after a week I'm going to call my doctor, it's too stressful.

@Cruz86 They couldn't see anywhere it could be coming from on the scan but they confirmed it was coming from my cervix and that I'm not dilated via pelvic exam.
