Morning ladies. 16+4 today and starting to show a little, although to those who don't know it probably isn't obvious.

Those who've had their 16 week check up, is it worth taking husband or is it more just a general health check? He'll come to as many appointments as he can but don't want to waste his time if there's not much for him to see/hear. Do they listen to babies heartbeat?

Motherofpugs · 07/06/2022 10:11

@Cocobeau my husband did come to the 16 week appointment but only as we listened to the heartbeat and he missed out on the 12 week scan so didn’t want to miss that too. I’m not sure every trust listens to the heartbeat at the 16 week appointment though, it seems to vary.

Cocobeau · 07/06/2022 10:32

Thanks @Motherofpugs I think I'm inclined to tell him not to come to that one. He was at the 12 week and will be at the 20 week which is only just over 2 weeks after (my 16 week is late) so I don't think he's going to miss much.

roobearbaby · 07/06/2022 10:37

I have just got home from my 16 week appointment. We listened to the heartbeat and it was magical 😊.

I have an anterior placenta so we thought it might take a while to find but it was found in less than 5 seconds.

It has been my favourite appointment so far ❤️

ALittleBitofVitriol · 07/06/2022 11:09

I'm nearly 18 weeks and still not feeling movements yet. Not particularly worried, I've been bloated and gassy and my uterus/stomach muscles have been quite sore/firm/irritable which makes a lot of 'background noise' 😄 I presume I'll start to feel something over the next week or so. My bump feels huge already, I feel about 10 weeks ahead, and I think I'm getting some little braxton hicks already, trying to take things easy. This is baby #5 for me but it's been 9 years since the last so nothing is predictable!

Cannot wait for the 20 week scan in < 3 weeks! We will hopefully find out the sex, very exciting! We have 1 girl (17 years old) and 3 boys (15, 12 & 9), we are thinking it's boy 🥰

OtiMama · 07/06/2022 16:31

I've just had my 16 week appointment and ours does hear the heartbeat but I've also heard not all trusts do. I took a video for my husband. tbh not sure if it's just because he wasn't even allowed first time but I'm going to appointments on my own (I hadn't considered taking him) and he's coming to scans. Most of it is blood pressure, urine test, pulse etc. generally routine stuff and paperwork for them.

@ALittleBitofVitriol so exciting to find out, do your kids have a preference? Great they are old enough to help out too!

smiles39 · 07/06/2022 17:31

I wanted my OH to come to the 16 week appointment because of the heartbeat, but he can only get the two scans off work paid. So I’m taking my mum next week instead.

Ooh we are due date twins! Have you got a bump yet? I'm currently on holiday and saw a pic of me in a bikini today and there's a definite little baby belly now 😂

ALittleBitofVitriol · 09/06/2022 02:51

@OtiMama help is relative when you're talking about teenagers 😄 but yes, they can all feed and clothe themselves so it'll definitely be easier this time.

They don't really have a preference, they've kind of said girl but I think that's mostly just for balance rather than actual preference.

Bramblecrumble21 · 09/06/2022 07:37

@ALittleBitofVitriol I think my 4 year old has the eagerness to help with a baby but not the eagerness to dress herself (although she can).

Cocobeau · 09/06/2022 12:38

Bloody hell. A couple of days ago I was saying how nice it was that the nausea had finally persisted and I'd felt good for about a week then BAM - yesterday and today the nausea has returned with the day long headaches thrown in for a laugh. I am not a joy to be around and I'm finding it really hard to smile and be polite when I get bombarded with the well meaning but unsolicited piles of advice that everyone feels the need to unload on you as soon as they find out you're pregnant.

sarahj878 · 09/06/2022 20:30

Is anyone else extremely itchy? I am itchy all over which I was pregnant last time too. Desperately trying not to scratch but am covered in red blotches from where I have

roobearbaby · 10/06/2022 13:21

@Sarahj878 I'm fine all day as soon as I get into bed I itch all over. It is infuriating.

TFMinx · 10/06/2022 19:02

@sarahj878 yes! My arms and legs are unbearably itchy! Ended up being prescribed a steroid cream and Dermol to use as a soap substitute, but the doctor I saw didn't have a clue about it. Itching was stemmed because of the creams, but it hasn't gone completely.

sarahj878 · 10/06/2022 19:16

@roobearbaby mines worse at night too! It’s unbearable. @TFMinx im going to speak to my midwife about it next week but in the meantime I got recommended a cream to try. Sorry to hear you’re still struggling despite the creams!

TFMinx · 10/06/2022 19:22

Do let us know what the midwife says. I know palms and soles is when they worry, but I don't know about anywhere else.

millie97 · 10/06/2022 19:49

Hi! Yes I’m feeling ok now thank you! I’m starting to enjoy food again! Yay! 🤪🤪

millie97 · 10/06/2022 19:50

@roobearbaby how are you? 😃

millie97 · 10/06/2022 19:53

@rickandmorts hey how excited we are in this together! 😃 and yes I have a tiny bump appearing.. whether it is a baby bump or a walkers crisp bump has yet to be answered for lol! Hope you are having a great holiday!

millie97 · 10/06/2022 19:55

@sarahj878 hey! I’m the same with the itching! 🥺 did the doctors tell you what was causing it?

roobearbaby · 10/06/2022 20:52

Baby has been super active today! Felt it from the outside the first time and more than once today. I love it 😍

sarahj878 · 10/06/2022 23:08

@roobearbaby aw that’s lovely!
@TFMinx @millie97 ill keep you updated on what the midwife says. I’d heard that about feet and hands. I had to have several blood tests last pregnancy so I suspect I will this time just to double check. Its when it’s something to do with liver function I think when they worry but I’m going to ask them to check for anaemia too as I read that can sometimes be a cause of itching. I look so pale at the mo and am desperate to fake tan but I daren’t as I’ll have stripes all over me from where I’m scratching 😂

Bramblecrumble21 · 11/06/2022 05:53

@roobearbaby that's lovely. I've got too much fat for movement to be felt from the outside any time soon. I felt some flutters last weekend, couple of times a day for three days. Then not much. But yesterday and the day before, had flutters just after putting some music on, could be coincidence or a dancer.
