@larrythelizard thankyou, the irrational thinking comes in fits and spurts! You take it easy and don't feel guilt about the gym, you're not having it easy lady

@Vil10 don't blame you on the food, it's a lot of effort when it's just cooking for one! Why do men compliment themselves so much that they think their 🍆 is going to touch the baby 😂 they came out your ball sack ffs man, they've been closer 🙈 yes hair is weird during pregnancy, I cannot see down there now for my belly so it's just a bit of razor roulette right now!

@whatwonder I will rational think if you do too? The anterior placenta will account for a lot of that. When is your next appointment with the MW?

@Minster2012 good point on them knowing why we're upset if anything happens 👍🏼 meh rubbish on the tyre!

Fantastic news @kaylsd so so pleased for you ❤️🥰 who are you telling first?

@feliznavidad2 ooooh yes you found me and my original name 😆

Busy day so feeling it now 😴 MW app all good and DD thought hearing the heartbeat was hilarious. Had to make a 3D dragon with DD for nursery for Chinese New Year tomorrow 🤦🏼‍♀️. She did bits then lost interest. DH came home in a huff and started dinner as I was still left holding the dragon. He accidentally put too much ground glove in the meatball dish he was cooking and it tasted like ass so we got McDonald’s instead - win 🥳

larrythelizard · 31/01/2022 19:18

That's lovely @Juno231 - just remember you need the annoying adaptors if it's one that can go on to a travel systèm. What's different about a Swedish meatball?

Pheasant bibimbap sounds nice @Minster2012! Did you manage to sort your car?

Cot naps for the win 🥳🥳🥳 @Kate105

@whatwonder seconding @Minster2012's suggestion of a call to the midwife for some reassurance?

I don't know how high the wrong info rates are @paintfairy - presumably les of a risk if they say boy?!

larrythelizard · 31/01/2022 19:20

Oh I've just been buying some low rise jeans to show my gut off @feliznavidad2!

Jealous @bez91...my weird venison and bacon bolognaisey thing was OK. DS came home with a dragon mask thing from nursery too

blackcurrantqueen · 31/01/2022 19:46

@kaylsd yay - amazing news. Congratulations angel! 🥰

DKDK123 · 31/01/2022 19:47

What a fab cake @becarefuloutthere! Hope you had a great baby shower.

How lovely your MIL is so excited and invested in your pregnancy @juno231 😁

@bez91 give your MIL something to look out for so if she says do you need x say no thanks we have that covered but if you see y we could be doing with that, it may save you having a cupboard full of bits you don't need. Glad to hear the midwife appointment went OK, and win on the McDs 🥳

@whatwonder I get the same, some days of feeling like she's tap dancing followed by days of radio silence. I use the home doppler I've got to listen to her heartbeat on those days which helps to reassure me. Getting one of them may help you, or give your midwife a call they may let you go in for a check (If I was further on I wouldn't use a home doppler for reassurance if I noticed any changes of movements I'd be straight into triage for monitoring, but its good while it's still early on)

@Minster2012 both of you getting jags tomorrow, you deserve to go do something nice afterwards. My arm was still sore with a lump a whole week after my whooping cough jag!

@paintfairy, ultrasound direct is the company I went with for my gender scan, they'd better be right or if it's a boy he'd better look nice in the dresses I've got 😂 I put my scan pic on a nub theory page and they all guessed girl too so that's somewhat reassured me. Our NHS scans refuse to tell you or confirm it even if you already know. There's signs up in the hospital telling you not to ask as they're not allowed to say. I keep saying 'she' at the scans in the hope they'll slip up and join me but the sonographer still just calls it 'baby', I'll ge having regular scans so there's still time for one of them to slip up and confirm its a girl before she's born 😂

So glad to hear all went well with the scan @kaylsd 🥰

DKDK123 · 31/01/2022 19:50

@feliznavidad2 that's me with the rainbow pic that's added you on IG

Minster2012 · 31/01/2022 20:09

@feliznavidad2 I feel like I'm hanging all out especially after a day inside today, in a far less glamorous manner 😂🤣

@bez91 we need an obligatory pic of 🐉 please. Good on the MacDonalds, that was like my goose surprise last week, the surprise was it tasted like chalk do I had a pizza 😀. So pleased the midwife was good & DD found it funny 😀

@DKDK123 nooooo dont say that about your arm after jab 😳

@larrythelizard yes sorted thank you, DH dropped tyre into tyre place first thing then dad picked it up whilst X was swimming then dad put it on this afternoon so my car is back in the garage! Whoop - X "helping him" put the tools away here this is an entrance to a field opposite our long drive where we had marooned it 😂

Couldn't eat much of tea tonight, not felt great all day, been trying to take it easy

paintfairy · 31/01/2022 22:25

@feliznavidad2 maybe if I looked that good, I would? 🤣
@bez91 great about the mw appointment. Ground glove? 🤭 The image in my head is great. McDonald's is a winner though!
@larrythelizard yeah I imagine it's easier to get it wrong more one way than the other, unless they were completely clueless!
@DKDK123 really? I thought the nhs all would tell you? I know they won't hunt for it and waste time if it's not visible, but if they happen to be able to see then i thought they would say?! How ridiculous?! I had my 10 week scan with ultrasound direct to be honest. I suppose it depends how good the person scanning is? 🤷‍♀️ I know nothing is 100% but you'd hope they were fairly accurate!
@Minster2012 good you got your car sorted. Always something.
I'm worrying about the dog who appears to not be himself. I can only assume he's hurt himself, as he's eaten, drank and been to the toilet ok today. 😫

Minster2012 · 01/02/2022 07:57

@Haiyaa good luck today with the section 🥰hope it all goes smoothly and looking forwards to hearing bout you both safe and well ☺️💓🤞🏻

@paintfairy dog issues here too, pointer limping (not all the time) can't see anything in her pads but she's a very delicate lady & get cracked pads so might be that 😬

paintfairy · 01/02/2022 08:14

@Haiyaa good luck today!
@Minster2012 mine is a princess. He gets sore feet sometimes, I have to watch him. I wish he was limping so I could know what was wrong. He just couldn't lie comfortably and at one point started screaming and then dragged himself out his bed. I was like wtf is going on? He kept sitting up and wouldn't sleep. Very odd. He looked a bit short on his back end (not taking as big steps as usual) and wouldn't go faster than a trot. But otherwise nothing obvious. Seems bright this morning though, so I'll see how he goes.

whatwonder · 01/02/2022 09:01

Good luck today @Haiyaa !!

Lovely scan photo @kaylsd what a cute little bean in there :)

@Minster2012 I felt awful after my whooping cough jab, far worse than after my booster! hopefully you're feeling better today.

@bez91 okay deal, rational thinking pact! next MW appointment isn't until 22nd but I'm going away next week until the 18th so have a bit of fear that something is going to go wrong when I'm away. Guess if I do experience another change/lack of movements between now and when I go, the best thing would be to ring the MW.

@DKDK123 I don't like the idea of getting a home doppler, personally I think it would just increase my anxiety because I don't know how to use it properly so might make the situation worse. Wild that your trust is so adamant against telling you the sex at your scans, is that the policy just at your local trust or in your area overall do you know? I have a couple of friends who were told what they were having accidentally by NHS staff (one had to go in for an extra growth scan because baby was measuring small and the consultant said "nothing to worry about, she's looking absolutely fine" Confused)

@feliznavidad2 I wish I could pull off that look! although as someone who came to ages in the 00s I find it highly distressing that low rise jeans are back in fashion.

Haiyaa · 01/02/2022 09:19

Thank you, I’m on the ward but last on the list 😢 DH currently sat next to me eating a bacon sandwich…. Soooooooo hungry! And missing DD. It also means I’ll have even less support from DH afterwards as he will still be kicked out between 6pm and 12pm tomorrow, which I’m not happy about so the sooner I can GTFO the better.

Juno231 · 01/02/2022 09:22

@paintfairy at least if they tell you it's a boy they don't get that one wrong really? Seems to only be the other way around.

My friend is stationed in the Netherlands atm and is considering doing NIPT but apparently there they refuse to tell you the sex that early on in case you have an abortion based on the result. Interesting how it varies everywhere!

larrythelizard · 01/02/2022 09:24

Good luck today @Haiyaa!

It's so hard isn't it @whatwonder! Are you away in the UK or abroad?

That pic of your DS was gorgeous @DKDK123. I also have never used a Doppler so wouldn't dare but if you know what you're doing I can see it's a lovely thing. With one of the scans with DS the sonographer deffo said 'he' - I still don't know if they referred to all babies as he or they did let it out of the bag?

Hope the pooches are OK @paintfairy and @Minster2012

I sent my 12 week scan off to one of those nub groups when I was about 38w pregnant @paintfairy and they were right (obv I didn't tell DH this)

Hope you're feeling brighter today @Minster2012 - I was mega migrainey yesterday and feel a bit better but like it's lurking today. Think it might be because I was super hungry before I had breakfast and it was too much of a blood sugar dip. So had earlier breakfast today and no cup of tea (in case it was the caffeine!)

OP posts:
whatwonder · 01/02/2022 09:31

@larrythelizard going abroad - back home to visit my parents. Last time I was there I had a miscarriage so think I have some lingering anxiety around that! Hope the migraine doesn't lurk back today. I have found especially over the past couple of weeks that I get really hungry really quickly and feel horrendous if I don't eat something straightaway.

@Haiyaa hope you don't have to wait around too much!

Vil10 · 01/02/2022 09:34

@whatwonder I agree with Minster! If you're worried try and contact your midwife for an appointment and reassurance x

@Minster2012 oooo pheasant bibimap sounds delicious!! How was it?! I completely forgot to take a pic of my tea but it was jerk chicken thighs with rice and peas and veg, it was unreal!! Ohh annoying on the car front! I always feel lost without a car! Hope you get to go somewhere nice today after your jabs!

@paintfairy have you decided to go for a gender scan then?? We have a window to the womb here, I haven't been to it before but heard good things about them!

@Juno231 ohhh I bet that was a lovely feeling digging the car seat out! You will be bringing a baby home!

@kaylsd so so glad everything is looking good! And lovely scan pic!!❤️

@bez91 It really is, I hate cooking for one, the meal last night was lovely though! Hahahaha so true!! I keep saying to him it won't be anywhere near the baby but it still creeps him out😂 razor roulette😂 love that🤣🤣 absolute winner on the McDonald's!!

@Haiyaa good luck today lovely!! I hope everything goes smoothly!! Can't wait for the update🥰

@DKDK123 I can't believe they refuse to tell you at your nhs scans!! All my friends who have wanted to find out but not find out early have just asked them at their 20 week scan and they happily told them! I mean I'm not finding out so it's no issue for me but I'd be devastated if they slipped up and told me by accident!!

So I rang up yesterday about this mystery appointment and they said it's just a general consultant appointment they they book in for after your 12 week appointment?? New to me but I asked her if it was for a specific reason and she said no it's just a general appointment so it's nothing to worry about it! Does anyone else's hospital do this?
Also the left side of my lower back is in absolute bits, the pains radiating down my leg some days, I was supposed to be starting yoga on Thursday but the woman hasn't got back to me, think I might have to YouTube some pregnancy stretches for lower back😫

Vil10 · 01/02/2022 09:40

Just checking, my midwife told me I can book my whooping cough vaccine in for anytime after 16 weeks, when did everyone get theirs? I've booked mine in for 16+3 because I have a midwife appointment that day and it's round the corner from my gp so thought I was better off killing 2 birds with 1 stone!

larrythelizard · 01/02/2022 09:43

Ah yeah then no wonder you're anxious @whatwonder I completely would be too in those circumstances (because I'm not this time round even though last pregnancy was textbook...yeah whatever!). Lovely that you're off to see family though, is it somewhere warmer?

In my experience (mine and friends round here) there is a huge number of things the MW will refer you to the consultant for @Vil10 but many less than he's too worried about, so I'd assume it's related to your back and they just want to meet you and check in and maybe send you for more scans after 20 weeks to keep an eye on things. Probably less scary meeting them early on for a 'chat' than if they spot a problem later on?

OP posts:
Kate105 · 01/02/2022 09:46

Bantastic Mr Fox up at 4am for chats this morning, unsolicited by me this time... back to bed at 5:10, up for the day at 5:45 😭 I think I've died again

TSD is chattier than this thread 😂

Too tired to catch up, hope all is well! Did get a cot nap this morning again 🙌🏻 but could really do with more than a 25 min stint...

Sleep training starts the second this cold is gone!
