I know what you mean @paintfairy I just wasn't anticipating a dinky babe, and felt a bit 🤯 when had to ask others to buy clothes in such smaller sizes when he wasn't a v early gestation (38 weeks).

What monitor is that @Minster2012 ? We went for a cheapo one with DS that didn't have a video and I spent my life having to go in and out the room to see what he was doing (especially when he was mobile) so am planning to splurge a little more this time.

Minster2012 · 09/03/2022 19:57

@feliznavidad2 it's a yanx baby one, not expensive it's the same as we had for DS & really liked it but it depends if you want proper zooming in or pan around
We wanted one that went into "sleep mode" with low level noise and no movement so the video goes black for that & you can't hear the white noise.

Minster2012 · 09/03/2022 20:07

@Juno231 is it your Nhs scan tomorrow? Is it the 20 weeks?

becarefuloutthere · 09/03/2022 20:12

@2020mission thanks for sharing and the reassurance! She lost 8.2% to start and then a further 10gms two days later. I then upped the feeds to 2 hourly and she put on 150gms in the next two days so hoping for similar again tomorrow 🤞🏾I'm so tired all the time which doesn't help with the stress 😩 I know we'll get there tho.
@Minster2012 hope your hip gets better!
@paintfairy yeah the initial weigh in, but not then the next one. That's what I didn't realise anyway. She gained, but not all yet. Still plugging away with the breastfeeding 🥱
You sound prepared tbf hun, all your thinking is on the right lines x
@bez91 omg what a witch! Luckily mine was really nice, perhaps a tad patronising but I'll take that over horrible. Thanks for the reassurance ♥️ good luck for tomorrow 🤞🏾

Lexber · 09/03/2022 20:34

@Minster2012 Alexia is just as bad 😬🤣 I shout her and she ignores me but atleast Alexa answers me...,

I also have a scan tomorrow @bez91 might see you there 🤣🤣

paintfairy · 09/03/2022 21:02

@bez91 good luck tomorrow. 🤞
@Minster2012 ah maybe these? www.tommeetippee.com/en-gb/product/the-original-grobag-oatmeal-star-swaddlebag you can use them as either? I've actually bought a couple of second hand ones to start with. So I've got something. As for clothes - anything 0-3 they'll grow into. But if it's big i didn't want to end up with loads of newborn stuff that I don't ever use. However, if they fit into newborn at 9lb then maybe I will use it. I've got a few newborn vests and sleepsuits, I just hadn't got too many. She, she, she...... 🤣🤣
@feliznavidad2 I suppose its just hard to tell? I would rather a bit smaller than too big though. I mean- that thing has got to get out! 🤣 I'm delicate. 😁 And I agree the video is likely useful and something I'd probably get. Saves you keep disturbing them if you can see they are ok? But I'm someone that has a tortoise video cam and also set it up when first leaving the dog alone. 🤣
@becarefuloutthere I suppose its just you and her getting into a pattern? And how much they need. But likely an issue for most people until they did their routine. Sounds like you are getting there though. Its all new!

Annoys me when people ruin names. I thought Alexa was ok, but clearly no one can ever use it now! 🤣

Juno231 · 09/03/2022 21:26

@2020mission I still feel terrible for guessing your name 🙈

@Minster2012 no it's my cervix scan tomorrow - my 20 week one is in 4 weeks exactly!

@paintfairy I'm burying my head in the sand about all those clothes details 😅

Minster2012 · 09/03/2022 21:47

Ahhhhh I'm getting rubbish at this @Juno231 I just put "scan" 😂

blackcurrantqueen · 09/03/2022 23:23

@paintfairy

  1. How many babygrows/vests do we actually need? I was getting some newborn and some 0-3 as I've no idea on baby size. Outfits I wasn't even going to worry about! My brain can't cope.

I'd get minimum of 5 of each but probably more like 10. For context DD2 was 7lb13 born so decent size but she's only just sort of in 0-3 they're still big and she's 7 weeks

  1. How many muslins?
Hundreds for my sicky baby 😂 at least 10
  1. How many blankets? (I'm intending to use sleeping bags for sleeping).
A couple - useful for car seat and buggy etc
  1. How many sleeping bags of each tog?
A couple in the right size for the right season
  1. Bibs? Do I even need bibs if I BF? 🤔
We don't use them
  1. Anyone used baby carriers? Thoughts?
Stretchy wrap and ergobaby360
  1. Breast feeding bras? How many? How are you meant to even buy those when they might change size after birth?

Get measured properly - incorrect fitting can cause blocked ducts and mastitis. You need a few. Lansinoh disposable breast pads are the best. And mean you don't leak over them - @2020mission invest they're soo worth it!!

Have had a lovely catch up - @Lexber loving the cots. Sorry you're feeling crappy again!!

Had the best day with our @Minster2012 - could not believe how beautiful the toddlers played together 🥰💗

@Juno231 fingers crossed for the cervix scan that everything is within parameters x

@larrythelizard sorry you've been caught, like someone else mentioned let the midwives know as you may need blood thinners and they offer extra monitoring here so more scans! X

Still adjusting to life as a four (five including the dog!)
Constantly being thrown up on which Minster can vouch for 😂 she also got a special treat 😂

Franklydear · 10/03/2022 06:25

BFN this morning but no af, on an internet cheapie though, I only have digi weeks otherwise, so non the wiser really

larrythelizard · 10/03/2022 07:27

Good luck today @bez91 and @Lexber and also @Juno231!

Love your neighbour and her cake @Lexber - she sounds much nicer than the knobhead who lives next door to me!!

It'll get easier and easier @blackcurrantqueen - I'm sure you're already bossing it!

You say that @paintfairy but I have a friend who had an easier labour with her 12lb baby than her 6lb baby...! Maybe gravity helps?!

I think it's pretty normal that they drop weight @becarefuloutthere - if you're breastfeeding have you thought about getting some help from a support group? Might be less stressful than the HV/Dr chat?

Hmmm I'd post you the better ones I have but I'm not allowed out @Franklydear! 🤞🏼

Was not planning on being awake yet but DS came to give me a kiss (decided that isolating in the house until I get a negative test is nigh on impossible). I had proper flu once and this is way way way better, just a heavy cold with some extra fun bits. Would love a lemsip but that's not allowed!

OP posts:
Franklydear · 10/03/2022 07:44

@larrythelizard hope you're feeling better, don't worry DH pissed me off this morning, I don't even want to test anymore, first I don't know why I bother testing, despite being late, my nauseas, cramps and sore boobs are all sign of af coming, so why do I test then? and then he checked the test before I had a chance to look at it and I nearly didn't even get to see it at all, I'll just wait for af or use a digi in a week, fuck it!

Minster2012 · 10/03/2022 08:12

@Franklydear 😩I'm sorry darling

@larrythelizard I think isolating away from a toddler is nigh on impossible anyway, pleased you feel ok though

Good luck @Lexber @Juno231 & @bez91, hope the fluid has gone down @bez91

Can def attest to muslins being good for sickly babies, your baby or someone else's @blackcurrantqueen 😂 & yes she's bossing it

Argh still got hip pain, gonna talk to the midwife next week but debating taking paracetamol too 🙄

larrythelizard · 10/03/2022 08:50

Paracetemol completely ok @Minster2012 - take some! Also maybe one of those sticky on heat pads? Might be worth considering physio...you've got another 10 or so weeks to go right?

Fucking men @Franklydear that is all I'm saying

OP posts:
DKDK123 · 10/03/2022 09:19

@minster2012 @blackcurrantqueen your meet up on IG looked like it went really well 😁

Aww @lexber the 2 cots make it all so real, I actually felt jealous for a minute that there'll be two wee squishies in there soon for you to love......then I remembered how tired and uncomfortable I am carrying just the one so I'll leave you to your two 😂

@larrythelizard hope it remains mild for you 🤞 One of my work colleagues has just tested positive now too (along with the others) but she's birthing partner for her daughter who's due in about 2 weeks (partners working away), I feel so sorry for her really hoping her daughter doesn't come early and that she gets negative tests very soon, what a worry for them both!

Great deal on the pram bundle @juno231!

@minster2012 I feel your pain on the christening, I've got that wedding next weekend and still have nothing to wear either and zero motivation to get something as every dress I've ordered so far I've sent back as I feel like a hefalump in it 😫

@paintfairy I'd get 10 babygrows and 10 vests in newborn size it saves you having to constantly put a washing on if you've got spares the washing can wait for longer. If you're worried about size just buy 2 packs of 5 and only open and wash one pack before baby's born then once you see the size you can either open the other pack or return it for the bigger size as need be. And get one pack of 0-3 incase it's a big baby to start with and you can buy more from there if you're not wanting to buy too much initially. (Tho I need to feel organised so I have her wardrobe ready till 6 months 😂🙈 but a lot of that was 2nd hand clothing bundles.)
Muslins you can never have too many they're great for a multitude of messes, I totally overestimated them before DS was born but quickly grew to love them and bought tonnes so there was one to hand everywhere!
Bibs as others have said not too important in the early days if you have muslins to hand.
Sleeping bags, I usually have 3 in each tog so if ones in the wash I have one for them to use and a spare if there's been a nappy accident.
Blankets I got a tonne as gifts for DS but realistically only used around 3 of them, one for the pram, one to throw over during naps if he fell asleep before getting in the sleeping bag and a spare for the wash.
Bras - zero idea that's what I'd like to know, going to get 2 nursing bras to start with incase my boobs explode in size once I bf, but once they settle on a size I'll probably have 3 or 4 to account for washes.

@bez91 good luck with the growth scan today, hope baby and the fluid are both behaving.

Good luck with your scan too today @lexber

@becarefuloutthere I was listening to an audio book on breast feeding and they were talking about babies losing weight to start with and said its far more common in breast fed babies but that's why the colostrum is so high fat at the start to account for the weight loss so not to worry too much about it they soon catch back up again.

Sorry to hear about the BFN @franklydear 😔

Having a really shitty morning, was so stressed out at driving to the hospital myself (DH usually does it as I hate driving and parking at the hospital is a nightmare), that I realised I couldn't remember the way, pulled over to turn on sat nav wasn't paying attention properly and totally fucked my alloy 🙈 Went for the glucose test (tired, crabbit, hungry from fasting given I usually have a cereal bar or banana at 3am to stop me feeling sick followed by cereal at 6am but haven't been allowed them). I can't stand any flavoured water it makes me gag so I definitely wasn't looking forward to having the glucose drink but was assured it was only small. I've taken a picture beside my water bottle........its not fucking small by any means!!!! 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢 11am then I can finally eat so may be feeling a little less tetchy and hangry by then 😂

Minster2012 · 10/03/2022 09:19

Yeah I've taken paracetamol @larrythelizard I'm just a bit concerned at the potential for having to KEEP taking it regularly, I'm going to ask about physio as yeah just under 10 weeks to go (to c section anyway!) but my friend on this area said she just got an appointment through & she asked at similar point & it took over 6 weeks, she's got her section in 2 weeks!!

Has anyone heard of a birthing ball might help hip pain?

@paintfairy I have some of these which are great instead of sleeping bags to start with & im thinking for summer good, with vests underneath then blankets on top?

larrythelizard · 10/03/2022 09:27

Yeah that is not small @DKDK123 - have you decided what you're going to eat as soon as you're allowed? Cracking an alloy is something i would do (and have done on DH's last car 😬).

Could you go private @Minster2012?

DH was meant to be going to France with some friends next weekend but has just realised he can't as he has to provide a sworn statement that he hasn't been in contact with someone with Covid for 14 days, I feel really bad even though it's not like I chose this!

OP posts:
DKDK123 · 10/03/2022 09:34

@larrythelizard I don't know why but when they said small I had it in my head it would just be in a little shot glass or something like that 😂 It keeps repeating on me and giving me horrendous Indigestion but you're not even allowed to take anything for that during your 2 hour wait. I got a meal deal from Tesco on the way in as I figured I may need to eat before the drive home, nothing too exciting just a chicken sandwich and a snickers bar to give me a boost as I read some people can feel a bit faint or dizzy after the fasting.
Your poor DH missing his trip but its not your fault you definitely didn't ask to catch it.

kaylsd · 10/03/2022 09:34

@minster2012 how lovely is it for you and @blackcurrantqueen to meet up :’) just shows how friendships can come in different shapes and forms and routes shall we say! Glad to hear you both had a lovely time and your little ones got on well :’)
@lexber deffo looks real with two little cribs side by side, it reminds me of my DH baby photos being a twin, his mum said it was costly starting up two of everything however it’s totally worth it 😍❤️ good luck with your scan today!
@larrythelizard I’m sorry to hear that shitty covid has managed to strike you down, I hope you feel better soon and bounce back quickly 🥺🤞🏻 I think it’ll be just the fluids and plenty of rest and paracetamol
@paintfairy I can only imagine his hands are like magnets to your tummy to see if he can feel the little one! My house is also a mess so if you find anyone who’s nesting and loving cleaning as my house is in mid being re plastered fully send them over my way! Thank you for asking the same questions I’ve been thinking all this time I’m now going to read the advice and make a list of stuff I’m actually going to need 🤣
@feliznavidad2 23 weeks wow! Time is really flying glad to hear you’ve dropped on a good purchase!
@juno231 fabulous bargain hunting with the sounds of things there hunny! Hopefully your cervix scan goes well today :)
@bez91 good luck with your scan today hopefully little one is doing well 🤞🏻

Got my wedding reception photos back from our belated party post covid and got all emotional, just because the videography has snippets of speeches and my DH talks about how we’ve faced one of the hardest times we’ve ever faced being related to our infertility journey and just got all emotional bringing back the rollercoaster we’ve all shared. How crazy how times flying for us all? I can remember each moment of hearing the BFPs and look as us all now? Isit me being hormonal and emotional probably but I’m feeling very rainbows unicorns and smiles about our journeys on here 🥺🥺🥺🤣

Nothing to report much here constipation is the devil to me and I have family dramas as usual and my mum has tested positive and it’s my birthday Saturday so I won’t be seeing her to be on the safe side, so many of my friends and their little ones also have it at the moment and the school policy’s on covid is varied so much which is hard! One of my friends who positive with both of her daughters one school says she can go in, her other daughters school says stay off at home 🙈 it doesn’t make sense it’s crazy! Have a lovely day ladies :)

Lexber · 10/03/2022 10:08

@Minster2012 I have a ball and yes it does help but not as much now as it did at first. But saying that I now have a support and today is a bad hip day for me I'm about to take 2 paracetamol myself as in lots of pain and need to go to the hospital shortly.
My physio appointment came in less than a week and was the next day! So worth a try! The sooner you ask the better trust me!

Been getting some horrible stomach cramps and feeling generally crap I think it's the iron tablets making me constipated so back in the lactulose for me and hopefully it will ease off. I will mention to Mw or consultant so they can double check it's nothing more. Wouldn't be surprised if I have a UTI tbh as I feel terrible and was in bed crying in pure mardy ness about 8pm last night. Plus I had lucozides in my wee last week and it was sent to the lab but I heard nothing (that's 2 samples in a row questionable) but this time I feel heavy down there and not right so something is happening some where- hopefully uti and not early labour!

Altho I did tell the babies to ignore me and stay snuggled for a few more weeks yet...!

@DKDK123 that looks awful 😞 and I understand the pain of not eating as when I had mine they didn't do my blood test til 10.30 and my appointment was 9.30, I nearly slapped a woman next to me when she opened a sandwich at 10am.. it looked so yummy! Lol

Sorry to hear BFN @Franklydear and men are just dicks at times anyway - know we will always be here for you and understand! Xxxx

@kaylsd it's definitely been expensive as we have completely had to start from scratch with my youngest nearly 12... and as much as I whine and moan I know how lucky we are and are very grateful to be so blessed (it's just difficult to see that some days when I feel like this) x

paintfairy · 10/03/2022 11:28

@Juno231 I'm half burying my head in the sand but I just want to make sure I've got the basics. The rest I'm less bothered about. I'm crap at outfit co-ordinating anyway so sleepsuits are easy. 🤣
However- just when I thought I understood it. 🧐 I've bought newborn and 0-3 stuff to cover all bases. I figure that's fine for now and I'll pick up bigger stuff as I go along.l, I'm not worried about that. But now I see that there are clothes up to 1 month?! 😫🤔 So I'm now confused. Is that an official size or one that just some brands do? So do I need that as well or can I go from newborn to 0-3 with growing? 🤷‍♀️ FFS.
I have though finally succumbed and bought some bloody leggings. Decent ones. I like them. But now I need some long t-shirts/vests to attempt to cover my arse a little. 🤣 Then life will be good!
@blackcurrantqueen thanks for that. That's really useful. And yes I did think maybe i need about 10 sleepsuits to save panicking about washing. Which stretchy wrap do you have? I've joined a fb baby carrying group. 🤣 I think I'll make doing the horses easier and also dog walking?
@larrythelizard I hear you, with the knobhead neighbour. Cake indeed. More likely to get run over. 🤣 Good point about gravity but I'm sure i don't stretch that far!? 🙈 Unfortunate about DH but what can you do?
@DKDK123 yes that all sounds very sensible. Thanks. I wanted to get some bras in advance so I have something. Else that might be awkward. 🤣 But obviously i have no idea what size I'll be. So I might just get some second hand and then get more at the time. But clearly I'm not going to be going out and getting measured 2 days after giving birth. How even does that work with milk dripping everywhere? I dread to think! Bugger about the dress situation. I don't know what to say- i would be the same! I'm terrible with clothes anyway. I would probably cry and not go. 🤣 Hospital saga sounds not fun at all. 🙈
@Minster2012 balls are meant to be useful for many things. Worth a go? Do you have an actual date for your c section yet? This bunny things look cute!
@Franklydear sorry about the bfn.
@kaylsd I told him he can keep his hands somewhere else. And he's never touching me for me. And I'm not just a vessel! 🤣🤣🤣 Yeah, its going well. 🤭 It is hard to know what to get though isn't it? I don't like to buy things unnecessarily but at the same time I don't want to be so unprepared its silly. We've got more plastering to come in April and I might start crying at the thought of the mess. And yes time seems to be flying now for us all! Madness.
@Lexber flipping heck, its not getting easier is it?! Fingers crossed its nothing serious. 🤞

DKDK123 · 10/03/2022 11:41

A chicken sandwich never tasted so good 😂

Minster2012 · 10/03/2022 12:22

Oh my goodness @DKDK123 the size of that glucose drink on Insta?! I bet the sandwich tasted AMAZING 🤩 I would be sooo h'angry by that stage but hope it all went well

@paintfairy I haven't got any upto one month as not everywhere does it and it's so subjective based on your baby so no point. I did have a stretchy wrap & lent it out hmmmm I wonder who has that??? Glad you got leggings though I too need more longer tops/vests, but I waited as now heading into spring this is perfect time for those to be in shops. New look, asos tk maxx those kinda places.

Awwwww bless you @kaylsd for getting emotional after the pictures, it's totally understandable though

@Lexber I might get a ball sooner rather than later then thank you!

I've just done some gardening so no doubt will be in agony later but stiff needs to be done and it's a glorious spring day here hope you guys are all getting some ☀️too

Lexber · 10/03/2022 12:26

Mid wait check in after scan and MW - no UTI but he's done another 180 flip and is head down!! 🎉🎉🎉 that's why I'm getting so much pressure and additional pelvic pain because he is burrowing deep down - so happy as I had convinced myself he would stay breech and it was a section but now we are back in the running for a natural birth 💖💙 IF he stays put...
BP good, wee sample perfect (surprisingly) let's see what the consultant says..

Minster2012 · 10/03/2022 12:27

Oh and on the next door neighbour chat my NDN has just collared me & showed me how much light one of our main screening trees takes from their garden & asked if we might consider chipping it down. He was like "well obviously I wasn't going to bring it up as soon as you moved in" Hmmmmm no. It's funny cos last year around this time DH & I were at THEIR NDN's (there are 3 of us at the top of the driveway) & they were complaining the exact same thing that one of THEIR huge trees screens light from their garden & they'd asked & they won't take it down. I wasn't quick enough to go "oh that's one DH's favourite trees" but I certainly should have done. I did point out we've got a lot on & taking out a tree unnecessarily was not on the agenda 😂
