As I'm avoiding doing any of the useful stuff I should be doing I thought I'd just pop another sidecar up x

@larrythelizard I have PM'd you.

Kate105 · 27/01/2022 15:14

I went 2 weeks over @becarefuloutthere so got induced but failed to progress (only got to 5cm) and because my waters broke so early ended up with a C section because they were concerned about infection. Turned out TSD had turned last minute and was back to back so wasn't really in the best frame of mind for his eviction 😂 should've known then that he was trouble and left him at the hospital...

However today has taken a turn lads! Forced myself out for a walk with new mum friend today and suggested a pub lunch after. We both had a pint 🙌🏻 YAAAS to midweek midday drinking and boozy mum friends! Although her baby is way more chilled than TSD (not hard to be fair 😂) and slept the entire time we were out. Jeal.

larrythelizard · 27/01/2022 15:41

If you're sure she's back to back you might want to consider asking for a c section not an induction @becarefuloutthere? (Similar story to @Kate105 here, didn't know shitbag was back to back until they tried to hoick him out with forceps and could turn him but not pull him out)

Her baby will do something else bad like explosive nappies or something @Kate105, don't you worry!

Cool @paintfairy I'll sort that out later on

I'm picturing like proper Smurf blue for my own amusement @Minster2012

Minster2012 · 27/01/2022 17:31

Smurf blue nipples @larrythelizard yep that's about it

@Crazydoglady123 oooo tomorrow good luck darling 🥰🥳

paintfairy · 27/01/2022 17:58

@Juno231 I read the wee thread. 🤣 I suppose you deem the ward should be safe. But then baby theft isn't unheard of. @Minster2012 I've bought nothing yet but I don't have 3k to spend on baby clothes. Surely no one spends that? Its bonkers. Especially if you don't have a baby. 🙄
@whatwonder no i haven't tried peanut! I might do that at some point. Probably attract weirdos like. I can't do it yet though and risk outing myself. No one knows yet.
@Kate105 yes I do. I get cabin fever as I call it. Winter is the worst! At least it'll be summer though and so I can leave and just go for walks. Poor TSD. I hope he's feeling better soon!
@Vil10 a conveyancing solicitor yes. Because you only train for just that. Rather than all the other law. I might do it. That or plastering...... 🤣 And my boobs are huge. Helpfully it detracts from my belly.....
@blackcurrantqueen a sideward sounds a good deal! Hang on a minute, on tv they always have a room. It's that not how it is? I would definitely leave if I was with other people. Bugger that. @Haiyaa 🤣
@becarefuloutthere nope. No aspirin for me. The sheet she filled in (in the book) says i don't need it. It's funny because many people on the ivf post were told they did, but not all. Seems random? 🤷‍♀️ Still getting headaches though and I will mention it at my 16 week appointment.
@Crazydoglady123 🤞🤞🤞 for tomorrow. I hope everything goes smoothly! I can't wait to see photos when she arrives.

So, plasterer still not got back to us. 🙄 Everyone seems to have covid? What's going on?! I also have a headache. And I'm starting to feel like I want to tell people about the baby now. Only I can't. Because DH hasn't told his family! 🤦‍♀️ To be fair if no one else knows until 20 weeks then maybe it's not a bad thing. I think to be safe it's maybe best after that scan. Initially he wanted to tell them before 12 weeks and I said no. And now he could tell them, he hasn't. 🤣 He needs to work out how apparently. So this might never happen......

2020mission · 27/01/2022 18:41

@paintfairy I'm pretty sure you only ever get your own room in maternity hospitals when in active labour and you'll be moved to a shared ward soon after the birth. Unless it's a private hospital I guess.

I just left Matthew in his crib in our bay when popping to the loo or canteen along the corridor to grab my meals to bring back to the bed. Everyone did that and midwives were always around anyway. I did hate it as I was always in a rush and worried he would end up crying when on his own but thankfully most of the time I came back to find him still sound asleep.

I didn't mind shared wards too much it would probably be lonely in your own room unless your partner was with you the whole time. The noise wasn't ideal when trying to sleep though. Mostly crying babies, ladies snoring, people having phone calls at 3am. I also heard women vomiting nearby quite a few times too... typically it always seemed to be when I was in the middle of working my way through my already unappetising dinner 😅 it was a symptom of the pain relief they gave for those who had C sections and the women were bed ridden at the time with numb legs so they had no other option. The midwives also seemed to treat the night like day time and would turn up to the bay at 4am to take my bloods or take the baby away for his weigh in. You must have sympathy for me having to spend 5 nights in there 😆

Juno231 · 27/01/2022 18:50

@paintfairy ha I can't believe he hasn't told his family yet! Mind you OH only just arranged a zoom call with his mum for tomorrow to tell her 🙄. On Sunday we had lunch with his brother and his gf and I couldn't believe we were still keeping it secret from them 😅. Is your Jan work do still going ahead?

@vil10 I tried to put my regular bra on last weekend as I figured I'd make an effort seeing as we were going out for a meal... Nope! Looks like I've gone up a cup size 😬 mine haven't been sore for weeks now though. Your neighbours are so adorable!!

@becarefuloutthere aaah can baba realistically turn again before delivery?

@Crazydoglady123 boo for baby being so comfy in there - I hope labour starts asap without induction

2020mission · 27/01/2022 18:57

@Crazydoglady123 i hope labour kicks in for you tonight but induction worked quick for me so if you do have to have that tomorrow hopefully you'll be the same 🤞 good luck!

becarefuloutthere · 27/01/2022 19:29

@Kate105 eek these troublesome babies!! I've been advised not to panic and told that I can deliver naturally with her back to back and that she could turn in labour.
So jel of your midweek pint, sounds fab!! I cannot wait to do that on mat leave. It's the best part about it I hear 😝
@larrythelizard I'm being told I can still labour this way, it may just take longer 🙄😬 so they couldn't get yours out?? Did you end up getting an emergency C-section then? I guess I'm gonna have to see what position she's in at 39 weeks at my sweep, feeling a bit apprehensive now 😐
@paintfairy ah yes, I remember you saying now. Defo odd and good to mention for sure! When's the 20 week scan?
@Juno231 apparently so! Midwife was saying they can turn during labour so not to panic. Hard not to tho when I'm hearing different things. I think I'm just gonna take it one week at a time now and keep bouncing on my ball!
When are you planning on telling family then or is it more OH that's holding bk and not you?

larrythelizard · 27/01/2022 19:42

Yeah he was not keen on coming out and ended up with EMCS @becarefuloutthere. No idea if it's because he was back to back but I don't think that would have helped! I'll have a session with the consultant to review my notes from DS' birth as part of décision re ELCS or not but not for ages!

OP posts:
paintfairy · 27/01/2022 19:59

@2020mission I definitely can't sleep with other people. Hopefully I won't have to stay! 🤣 Sounds horrendous.
@becarefuloutthere 4th March is my next scan.
@Juno231 well, he needs to somehow tell 3 sets of people in quick succession. So they don't tell each other. But don't absolutely nothing at all isn't helping..... 🤣
The work thing is technically going ahead yes. But 2 people now aren't coming because of covid. And I'm not sure whether I should go really either? Another covid related issue. 🤣 Long story.......

Crazydoglady123 · 27/01/2022 20:04

@Kate105 omg crying at that comment "should've left him at the hospital" 🤣🤣🤣

@paintfairy thank you! I shall share plenty of pics 🥰
Re rooms/wards when I was induced last time I was in a room on DAU then got moved to another room on labour ward then after got moved to post natal ward which was noisy. I transferred the next morning to the MLU I wanted to birth at this time because I had to stay in for obs for 48hours and the MLU was a much nicer experience. Depending on how tomorrow goes I may do the same as it's close to home too.
Also I never took aspirin for my IVF pregnancy @becarefuloutthere

Thank you @Minster2012 @Juno231 @2020mission @becarefuloutthere

I'm hoping they'll just break my waters as they are bulging. A lot of friends on subsequent pregnancies had the same and they laboured within a couple of hours. With DS when I was induced I had the pessary and had him within 10 hours and it was a good labour tbf. My midwife is trying to come over too for when I'm in established labour so she doesn't miss the birth🤞

Minster2012 · 27/01/2022 20:39

@Kate105 yessssss for midday mum drinking!! That's awesome!

@paintfairy god damn plasterer that's real shit & I can't believe DH hasn't told ppl either but it's not a bad thing

bez91 · 27/01/2022 21:04

On the wee front when in hospital and leaving baby. I left her whilst I nipped for a wee (was in a bay with 4 other women, no private side room). They strapped 2 tags to each of DDs legs which basically alarm if you leave the ward, you know similar to if you've been shoplifting 😂 I assumed that was the norm but maybe not 🤣

@Crazydoglady123 if nothing happens tonight... good luck for tomorrow 😊

@becarefuloutthere ahh annoying! Hope baby turns, big pelvic circles on a ball sounds like it could work the laws of physics 😆 I do find it amazing how our bodies/theirs generally know what to do to be able to be born but a lot of bloody things have to line up!

larrythelizard · 28/01/2022 07:24

I think I either had a catheter in or DH was there with DS, I got out the day after though so wasn't long. There was an awful woman in my 4-bed bay who was freaking out so much about something they bent the rules and let her mum stay overnight and they DID NOT STOP TALKING. Argh. Didn't think to ask for a private room at the time!

I'm picturing @becarefuloutthere furiously spinning on her ball!

If anyone wants a 2.6 year old boy, just shout...yesterday evening, overnight and this morning have been taxing!!

@bez91 shoplifting. 🤣🤣
@larrythelizard i know! People talk too fast and don't give you enough time to compile lists. 😲 I think we have everyone apart from @clolo but she hasn't been on. Must be busy having a life. 🤭 Busy day for me today actually. Really CBA!

larrythelizard · 28/01/2022 07:53

Same here @paintfairy - I'm shattered! Trying to decide whether to do the 12pm gym class I'm booked for or cancel it and make time for a nap, no time to do both as have something on this morning!

OP posts:
feliznavidad2 · 28/01/2022 07:59

Impressed that you're even considering it @larrythelizard 😆

Minster2012 · 28/01/2022 08:00

Omg I actually laughed out loud at newborns having a tag in case they are out after curfew @bez91

@becarefuloutthere damn awkward babies these are aren't they!

all these hospital horror stories remind me of so many times I've been in hospital and for instance one night there was a woman screaming blue murder running down the ward like a banshee & then she ripped out her drains & there was blood all down the ward & she was screaming more. I woke up to hear screams & blood & genuinely thought I was in a murder scene. Also EVERY time I go in the nurses do Obs all night JUST when you've finally fallen into a lovely sleep at 2am they come with a bleeping machine 😩😬

@larrythelizard eeeek this morning taxing already, I always laugh (not) when ppl go "oh he sleeps til 8/9" SAY WHAT??? We've been up for over 2 hours by then & had mayhem already 🙄

Busy day here too. Gotta chop kindling, do some work then meeting friend for lunch, a dentist appointment then midwife's

Really need to find the email with my mat exemption for teeth 🦷

Minster2012 · 28/01/2022 08:03

I think @clolo is end of June?

larrythelizard · 28/01/2022 08:04

Hmm maybe thinking about it is enough for today @feliznavidad2?
